In these days, the middle school was inaugurated in Naro, and Piero was present.

The school was already existing but was closed for several years due to restructuring.

In this video that I send you there is the speech that Piero has done in front of the students and their parents.

When I was in elementary school, they told me that in the first year of middle school teacher NISI had the students sing, so this was the exam I had to overcome, and I could not wait to start middle school.

I found myself in the first desk and teacher Nisi says “Piero Barone, sing!” and I sang such UN AMORE COSI’ GRANDE as the first song.

So you guys are in good hands.  Of course I do not hide that my favorite moment of the school day was the recreation for to eat the sandwich or lunch time.   I did not like the gym because I was that chubby.

Today I see so many guys that I meet on the street and maybe many do not know them, but the heart is filled with joy to see many guys with musical instruments.

This is the message that I always try to send to children and especially parents, to give a musical instrument to their children.  Today the majority of the time we spend in front of the phone and we waste a lot of time.

Congratulations really guys, because we see that there is so much effort, so much dedication.  Congratulations to the teachers because it is not easy for you students “to play the musical canon” that is, each chasing a different time.

I trained at your age with the choir in Agrigento, but the message is addressed to you students, who can always try to play an instrument, to learn something about music, even in art and even in the gym with physical education , because it is from the small things that the great passions are born.

Congratulations to those who have done this wonderful job.  I remember this school in which I spent a year, “a year or two years?” (asks confirmation to the teacher Nisi who confirms one year) then there was the restructuring.

Anyway guys, good luck, study and be patient with the teachers, what can you do?

First of all I must tell you that Ignatius here does not provide a real recipe but it is as if he were making an imitation of some Italian chef because he uses a deeply accented language in southern Italian.

Translation: 

So all right,

We roast the zucchini already sprinkle with the red wine.  Spadelliamo ( = stir -fry) for good as Cannavacciuolo ( famoso cuoco italiano del momento) teaches.

All right, take paper towel and clean everything.   Ciao. (kiss)

 

It is better understood that they are zucchini cut into cubes and fry with a little oil, sprinkle the courgettes with red wine and sauté them (stir-fry), mixing the zucchini well with the wine.

 

Note the sharp chef’s jacket.  This guy is serious about his skills!  

Ignazio has always had a flair for cooking.  Here he is way back in 2013, making Scaloppine alla Marsala!

This is a sweet short interview from 2013 where Ignazio talks about his favorite food and his Mammas cooking.  Marie and I were lucky enough to actually go to Nina’s Pizzeria.  It is a cozy little place with three smiling young women who make GREAT pizza!

The only new theme of the album Notte Magica – Tribute to the three tenors is Ave Maria, Mater Misericordiae, composed by Giorgio F. Pintus and Romano Musumarra. This song, although it was included in the album, was not interpreted by Il Volo in the concert held on July 1, 2016 in the Piazza Santa Croce in Florence, during which the Notte Magica album was recorded live, because it had to be performed during the World Youth Day, in front of Pope Francis.

Unfortunately, Il Volo could not keep up with the Krakow appointment due to technical problems, and the live performance of the song had to be postponed until March 2017.   Il Volo sang live for the first time Ave Maria Mater Misericordiae, on March 2, 2017 in Easton (USA), although its official presentation was at the concert of Radio City Music Hall, in New York, on March 4, 2017.

Since the first performance, the song has become a favorite of the Magic Night tour viewers. It is a small jewel, in the purest style of Il Volo, which perfectly adapts to the vocal characteristics of the group. The song, dedicated to the Virgin Mary, begins softly in a low tone with the voice of Gianluca Ginoble, followed by Ignazio Boschetto and increases in intensity in the refrain by Piero Barone. But the climax comes at the end of the song, when Ignazio Boschetto attacks the highest notes and the three voices finally come together in a great harmony. The text is a perfect combination of tradition and modernity and manages to be poetic without being antiquated.

On December 16th the Karkinos Prize was held in Agrigento, an award that is recognized to the excellence of the Agrigento area.

Piero is from Naro which is in the province of Agrigento.   He is being recognized for the special prize for music.

Here is the translation of what was said:

“Special Award Karkinos 2017 for Music goes to Piero Barone”

(Piero is seated next to his mother, and a video clip shows Piero’s moments.)

The presenter says she is not used to all these people and all these flashes and thanks Piero for being there.  Everyone knows the load of commitments that IL VOLO has and having Piero present is a great honor.

She goes on to say that Piero was one of the first to arrive on that day and was present all the time.  This makes it clear how much Piero is a correct person who is keeping this presence.

Piero is asked what effect this has to receive this award in his land.

Piero replies that he spent his childhood coming every Saturday afternoon from Naro with his dad to sing in the chorus of  voices of S.Cecilia and that everything was born from there. Being recognized in his land is the most beautiful thing, gives him so much satisfaction, and tonight sees so many faces he knows.

Yesterday evening he arrived from Mexico to attend this award.

Carmelo Cantone Carmelo is called to deliver the award.  He says that Piero is an undisputed international star, and that it was for two months that it was uncertain because, ….. he comes, he does not come.  The father of Piero helped by updating him on his travels.  He was in Japan, then in Mexico when Carmelo asked Gaetano, “but when does he return?”  Gaetano said “almost certainly” but this “almost” was not a certainty and then Gaetano sent him a message that yesterday he was at the airport to get Piero and Carmelo was finally reassured.

Piero continues by saying that he and Ignazio and Gianluca with Torpedine have founded a new record label to give space to young talents, and three of these are Sicilian.

Then talking about his land, Piero says that two weeks a year he has a summer rest.   He passes this time in San Leone, in his land.  He could go to the Maldives, but those who want to see him say to come to San Leone, in his Sicilia.

Another award is given to Piero, executed by a jeweler craftsman who makes jewelry dedicated to those who love Sicily and Piero as an ambassador in the Sicilian world is an example. The jewel depicts a Trinacria (symbol of Sicily).

Piero receiving the award says that he is from Naro, was born in Naro, and always returns to Naro where there are many people who love him and these people with the mayor have dedicated a wing of the Castle of Naro to him, as Piero Baron houseteca. Then he says that Grande Amore was the song that consecrated them to the public and that he lives in Bologna because he undertook the study of opera for his personal satisfaction.

In the end Piero thanks the audience saying that he really loves everyone.
