Personally Speaking ~ REVIVIFICATION ~ Mary Bohling

To impart new life, energy or spirit.

image

You’ve taken flight for home, sweet  songbirds.

It’s time for you to rest.

You’ve sung your little hearts out.

You’ve given us your best.

image

You’ve filled us with your beauty, our hearts are overflowing,

We say caio for now, and shed a tear, but  we are always knowing

That  you will come again,  though the waiting will be tough,

Anticipation can be sweet and will have to be enough.

After you’ve revived yourselves with lots of relaxation

Immerse yourselves completely in your favorite recreation.

The sea is calling Piero to help relieve his tension.

And Walter and Buddy truly need Ignazio’s attention.

image

Gianluca likes to spend his time with family and friends.

image

And soccer at the beach is a joy that never ends.

image

Piero says  the Nautilus Club is really neat,

And running in the sand feels lovely on the feet.

image

Sometimes just being left alone is really what  you need.

To take some time to ruminate and cut down on the speed.

image

Relaxing by the sea is always lots of fun

When you are with a best friend, just soaking up the sun.

image

Even though this time is meant for rest and easy living,

The passion for your work will make you keep on giving.

image

You’ll be busy with recording and making future plans.

Please top your list with this request: remember all the fans

Who wait here in the USA  to hold you close once more.

image

We LOVE you, we WANT you, we NEED you,

You are OUR Grand Amor.

Personally Speaking ~ The Art of Fan Seduction ~

Thank you, Gary Istok
Thank you, Gary Istok

Gianluca, Piero and Ignazio have conquered the ART OF FAN SEDUCTION long ago!

To SUCCUMB…to yield to superior strength or force or overpowering appeal or desire.  Even Liliana, Michele’s sister ( with arms around Piero!)  and friends have joined the many fans who have experienced the overpowering appeal of these guys!

When they are not enticing us all  on stage with those beautiful voices,  they work the crowd like pros during the Meet and Greets.  And it isn’t an act…they are as genuine as they come across, ALL OF THE TIME.

Always taking turns of course like the true gentlemen they are, but I think Ignazio is keeping track of how long that hug lasts so he gets the same!

13709987_835223273274262_9133137630728082778_n

Never leaving one to feel left out.  What goes around…comes around.

With children taking top priority!  All three guys just melt into puddles when the little ones appear.

What the world needs now is pure love and joy like these three give so freely to all who cross their path.

Yes, Gianluca, hearing your incredible voices is how you  gained your first music fans.  And now through the years you guys sure know how to get music fans and keep them from all over the world!  You all have that seductive quality about you  just by being Italian, but you add those extraordinary voices to the package and LOOK OUT!

5 Perfect Cover Versions of Classic Italian Songs

Italy has an incredibly rich musical history that continues to inspire the artists of today. Here are 5 cover versions of Italian favorites that prove it.

To view original versions, click the artist’s name.

“La prima cosa bella”

Original:  Nicola Di Bari/Ricchi e Poveri

Cover: Malika Ayane

In 2010, Malika Ayane revived this simple yet completely wonderful song that ranked at No. 2 in the 20th edition of Sanremo, presented by Di Bari alongside the group Ricchi e Poveri. Although the original is always a beloved favorite, Ayane used a delicate touch to make the song relevant again for a new generation. Her cover was even featured on the soundtrack for the film of the same name.

“Ma il cielo è sempre più blu”

Original: Rino Gaetano

Cover: Giusy Ferreri

2016 marks the 35th anniversary of singer-songwriter Rino Gaetano’s death. Out of all the many covers of this song, Giusy’s version is a top pick, her vocals matching Gaetano’s signature grit. Find it on her 2009 album Fotografie.

“Mediterraneo”

Original: Mango

Cover: Pietro Gabriele

Pietro Gabriele is a fantastic young singer-songwriter and musician who comes to us from the small Italian island of Pantelleria. He performed this passionate and moving cover of Mango’s “Mediterraneo” in profound homage to his island–with scenes of its beautiful landscape playing in the background–at his show this past May at the great Teatro Europa di Aprilia. Check out MNGBlog’s interview with Gabriele here and look out for his new single on August 10!

“Volare”

Original: Domenico Modugno

Cover: Il Volo

When many people think of Italy and it’s music, “Volare” is one of the first songs that come to mind. Oh, how we love Il Volo’s version of this definitive Italian song! Featured on their 2015 albums Grande Amore (International Version), L’amore si muove, and Grande Amore (Spanish Version), the award-winning trio remixes the original worldwide hit with a little Latin rhythm.

“‘O Sarracino”

Original: Renato Carosone

Cover: Gigi D’Alessio

As a Neapolitan classic, “‘O Sarracino” has been covered countless times since its release in 1958. For this remake, D’Alessio, a native of Naples himself, is joined by guitarist Michael Thompson, who lends a Santana-like flare to the track. Find it on D’Alessio’s album Malaterra, which features covers of other Neapolitan classics such as “Guaglione” (featuring Briga) and “‘O surdato ‘nnamurato.”

Gigi will play two more concerts in the U.S. this year as part of his Malaterra international tour. For more information, including tickets, visit gigidalessio.com.

Personally Speaking~TREND SETTERS~Mary Bohling

TREND SETTERS

PEOPLE WHO LEAD THE WAY IN FASHION OR IDEAS.

Our Il Volo guys are unique in many ways.  They could probably be considered “trend setters.”  It takes a certain amount of courage to be a trend setter.  It requires confidence and self assurance to step out from the crowd and follow personal convictions.
TREND SETTERS IN THE MUSIC FIELD
When they were first put together as a trio, they, with some wise guidance, chose to follow a course of action not popular at the time–that of promoting bel canto as their choice of music style to launch their careers.  Who was doing bel canto in the realm of popular music at that time?  That’s right–no one.  There was no assurance that the public was ready and willing to accept it.  But they set out  bravely bringing this music to a world that was not accustomed to hearing its unique style of beauty, and interestingly enough, they brought it  first to America–the land of “rap” and “hip hop.”  Three young boys in a foreign land courageously standing on the stage facing audiences who might or might not see what was there in front of them.
    image
Trend setters?  Their talent and charisma were enough to win over audiences of thousands, raising musical standards to new levels and winning hearts over to their kind of music all over the world.

TREND SETTERS IN QUALITY OF CHARACTER
They were seen as trend setters in the realm of young men with whom courtesy, kindness, generosity and morality are primary characteristics.  Their clean-cut appearance and wholesome attitudes are welcome trends in today‘s society.  How refreshing to see their level of potential trend-setting alive and well in today‘s music scene.  Their fast rising popularity gives credulity to it’s validity as having brought out the appeal of beauty and quality in the field of popular music.
image
TREND SETTERS IN STYLE
The Il Volo guys don’t  rely on elaborate costuming to impress their audiences.  They are usually seen in black, gray or blue–simple casual outfits, depending on personality and performance to captivate the fans’ attention.
image
When they do go dressy for certain events, it’s in high fashion (Armani?) with style and quality with the accent on dignity and respect for the viewers.
image
However, to show that  they can interject a sense of fun when appropriate, note their recent appearance wearing white tennis shoes with their “dressed up” attire.
image
TREND SETTERS IN THE HEARTS OF THE FANS
These young men have set new heights of admiration in the hearts of the thousands of fans who have come to love and respect them.  To know them is to love them–for many of us at a level higher than ever before felt for a performer, having become as real and personal and close as family members.  They are setting trends of quality that we can only hope will be examples for others to follow.
