No More Flight Crew? Maybe.

OK, here’s the thing…
When five of us started this site we had hopes of communicating with twenty or so people.  Much to our astonishment, we have been read an average of a thousand times a day for nearly four years (that’s over a million and a quarter times).  Kelly and I have been running this site, with the help of contributors, by ourselves for the past couple of years.  If you look at our front page you will understand our job division.  I take care of the middle (find, edit, draft and schedule the posts, monitor and approve comments, write stuff, etc.) and answer tons of mail.  Kelly takes care of most of the outside edges (the calendar, Twitter, Facebook, music, slide show, etc.) pays the bills, does the Guys birthday videos and reports on the professional engagements of IL Volo.

Here’s what I’m getting at..
Kelly has a full-time, demanding job.  I’m retired, but tired. The site is a pretty big everyday task.  Without some help we are going to have to let it go.  I can only speak for myself when I say that this site is my joy!  It is like a child to me. I love it that much.  But it has gotten to the point where it is hard for me to take even part of any day away.

We refuse to allow the quality, which we have tried hard to achieve and maintain, go downhill and would rather end it cleanly.

Only with some help in these areas can we remain a viable website and continue to “Share the Love”.

1.) help keeping up with professional aspects of Il Volo — including being able to draft your own work.

2.) someone who can speak to/help with technical aspects of running a site…including social media.

3.) someone to coordinate with translators.

4.)  aid in editing and drafting posts.

5.) someone to help monitor our Flight Crew mail.

Most of these things can be taught by Kelly or myself.

I can’t begin to tell you exactly how crossed our fingers are.

P. S. ~~  Yes!  What Marie said.  It would break our hearts to have to let go, so please…help us keep our home!  kya

Food for Thought

I thought this was interesting, it’s from “The Huffington Post”.

Donald Trump Makes Dubious Claim About Inauguration Singer Jackie Evancho

Here is part of that article:

“Only Trump’s claims that Evancho’s “album sales have skyrocketed after announcing her inauguration performance” are being called into question. Especially in cause and effect.

Vanity Fair noted that the 16-year-old Evancho’s latest offering is a Christmas album, so it stands to reason that sales would increase as the holiday approached.

In terms of numbers, Billboard offered interesting tidbits. The music trade outlet acknowledged that sales of Evancho’s “Someday At Christmas” did rise after the Dec. 14 announcement that she would sing the national anthem at the inauguration ― but “skyrocket” might be pushing it.”

Forget the politics…Another article says the shelves had to be stocked twice with her album.  Several of us were watching when Jackie made the announcement on the Today Show that day.  Humm….I wonder if there might have been another reason for her rise in sales the day she sang with IL Volo?

A word from Myron re: Il Volo Fan Faire in the new season of 2017.

Jeannette and I had to wait for final word on this from Il Volo. But after talks with Barbara Vitali and other people in Il Volo management, it has been decided that the schedule this year will not allow time for an Il Volo Fan faire – that is one where the boys can attend for the amount of time that they suggested last spring. This tour has caused some frustrations in the planning and that is why it is so late being announced.

Last year’s tour was announced in spring of 2015 and tickets went on sale August of 2015 for a tour in February and March of 2016. This year the announcement goes out today and Monday and Wednesday at the end of November for a tour during the month of March (basically the same time as the last one). That means 3 months of prep for us vrs 7 months last time.

Barbara and we are going to plan further ahead when Il Volo has the next USA tour where the Fan Faire will fit into their schedule easier. So don’t be too sad because in the long run I think this will turn out better with more lead time.

A word about the tour concert in Las Vegas: This year the Vegas concert is being held at the Monte Carlo Hotel Casino where MGM has built a new state-of-the-art concert hall called the Park Theatre. I have seen the place in its finishing stages as it opens in late December. It seats 5200 people and has a huge stage. The Monte Carlo is right on the strip across from the MGM Grand. This place is beautiful and it will be a the largest concert hall in the city (not counting sports arenas).

The Il Volo concert is on Saturday, March 25 (same date at last year only on a Friday) of 2017 at 8:00pm.

TO ANYONE COMING TO VEGAS FOR THE MARCH 25 IL VOLO CONCERT:

Even though there is no Fan Faire per se this year Jeannette and I are planning to do dinner at the Italian restaurant right across the casino from the theater entrance. It is called: “d.Vino” We are aiming for 5:00pm and we invite anyone else that is coming to Vegas for the Il Volo concert to come and join us for dinner and then we walk across the casino to the new Park Theatre for the Il Volo concert.

Everyone is on their own. We will take a tally and make the group reservation for the restaurant. However, everyone that is coming must take care of their own concert tickets, dinner cost and hotel, etc. A chance for us Il Volo fans to get together in a “junior fan faire”. Please email Jeannette or me if you would like to have dinner at “ d.Vino” with us on Saturday, March 25 2017 at 5:00pm.

Ciao ~ Jane & Marie

Where we will be on Oct. 28th.
Where we will be on Oct. 28th.

Well Crew, it’s almost time for Jane and I to go.   We will leave Oct 18th and return on November 2nd.  We will be sleeping Nov 3rd, 4th and 5th.   I can’t begin to tell you how excited we are!  But then you know that.  I have to tell on Jane.  She has practiced packing…twice!  Her husband told her to just leave it packed and sleep on top of it.  I practiced too.  After-all, we’re only taking a carry-on and a small backpack each.  Yeah, we’re ready!

Anyway,  you probably won’t hear from us until we get back.  If we come back!  However, I may give you an alert if…say…Piero’s family invites us to dinner, or Mrs. G has us sit on her front stoop to watch the sunset over Montepegano, or Ignazio has me ride behind him on Walter.  I will let you know those things as soon as I have regained consciousness.

Since we will both be gone, the site will go to an every other day posting schedule.  You will hardly miss us.  I have left some of your submissions in draft for Kelly, with Jana’s help, to post.  I’m sure they will take good care of you.  So sad they both work and Jane and I are retired.  I feel really bad about that.  Not bad enough to stop jumping up and down with glee, but bad nonetheless.

So… Arrivederci Amici miei!
