The view is far away but it serves to have the whole of the square and the final reaction of the people. At the end of the song, the boys demand a big applause for Alessandro Quarta, who is performing in his land.

Final greetings

The encore

And here in the front row, among the people, is the bishop of Lecce.

You must know, that the Cathedral in Lecce is a symbolic square of the local church: with a single entrance, it is closed by the buildings of the Diocesan Museum and the Bishop’s Palace. The previous bishop had always denied her use at concerts. The current, Monsignor Michele Seccia, who chairs the commission, has instead decided to open it, long enough to grant it for the summer 2019, also to Il Volo and Fiorella Mannoia. Denied instead, to those singers with songs with explicit or irreverent lyrics.

I translate this nice article from PORTALECCE.

Il Volo in Piazza Duomo

Gianluca: “It is an honor to be here and to sing in front of ‘my’ bishop.”

A concert that showed a splendid combination of the baroque art of Piazza Duomo and the musical art of this trio. The uniqueness of the artistic frame of the venue was in fact highlighted by the leading singers of the evening: “As soon as we took the stage a few minutes ago, we saw a magnificent scenery, one of the most beautiful squares not of Italy but of the world.” Gianluca Ginoble said,  “The idea of singing in Piazza Duomo was born four years ago, when we were on vacation in Porto Cesareo with our manager Michele Torpedine, and after coming for a walk in Lecce, we thought about how nice it would be to sing in this place. Today this dream has come true.”

Bar-Lecce 10

It was Ginoble, who with the other comrades of the group, had an episcopal meeting with the archbishop to address a personal greeting to Msgr. Michele Seccia, stating that it was an honor to sing for the archbishop this evening. The singer recalled that he had received the sacrament of confirmation from Bishop Seccia, when the latter exercised his episcopal ministry in the diocese of Teramo-Atri. Great successes of the group excited those present, who sang songs like “Grande Amore” and “L’amore si muove”.

Among the surprises, the performance by violinist Alessandro Quarta, an artist much appreciated for his rigorous Salentine origins. A concert that took place in a workmanlike manner, the organization was impeccable in terms of plant engineering and safety and security measures adopted.

Il Volo at the Duomo, the lyric that becomes pop welcomed in the heart of the Baroque of Lecce

Corriere Article – Click Here

Their voice is majestic and seems to give further strength and intensity to the Baroque art that frames Piazza Duomo: Ignazio, Piero and Gianluca begin by singing “Il Mondo” and are full of energy, they are young, they are beautiful.

Last night in “tour” in Lecce, the three singers of the opera group “Il Volo” have bewitched the Salento public, with their masterful singing and artistic qualities, with their “savoire faire” of other times, made however very current by the sympathy and from the synergy that hovers between them. Very elegant and formal, like in a top-level theater.

Gianluca Ginoble’s grace was immediately evident, in thanking the Bishop of Lecce, Monsignor Michele Seccia, for the hospitality that the singer remembers having met on the occasion of his Confirmation. On the other hand Il Volo has always been able to juggle the graces of the Church: not least, the famous “selfie” that Pope Francis granted them this winter in Panama.

Bar-Lecce 13

“Ah, heck, at 12 you couldn’t keep it in the Curia?!” Ignazio Boschetto jokes.
The trio performed great international classics, such as “Can’t help falling in love” by Elvis Presley and “My Way” by Frank Sinatra and Italians, like “Volare”, by Domenico Modugno.

In the front line there is also a fourth protagonist: the Salentine violinist Alessandro Quarta, who a few months ago performed on the stage of the Ariston, for Il Volo, “Musica che resta”. “I’ve always dreamed of playing here, at the Duomo. But never would I have thought of a concert next to the three of them, which are the best of Italian opera music in the world!”

“And now your Alessandro Quarta, all for you”, Gianluca exclaims. And here is that the violinist has performed some passages, accompanied to the piano by the teacher Giuseppe Magagnino (Salentine pianist of national fame).

Bar-Lecce 14

Then a moment in which each of the three sang as a soloist, to give a single voice to the different vocality and peculiarities that characterize them: in this sense, interpreting “Almeno tu nell’universo”, the tribute of Ignazio Boschetto to Mia Martini: “I am here to remind you that no one can ever judge us!”

But then also some funny sketches to soften the show:

“A nice thing happened this evening: we went on stage at 10, because at 9:30, ready to get dressed, we realized that Ignazio had forgotten his clothes in the hotel!”

“And what do you want from me?”, said Ignazio. “I proposed to do the concert in underwear, but there was the Curia and nothing could be done about it!” It is still the boys, looking around saying, “But have these gentlemen at the window and on the balconies paid for the ticket?” But how many are you? 150? They come out of the bathroom too! Let me check under the stage!”

Bar-Lecce 15

To announce the last song, long awaited “Grande Amore”, the song with which they won in Sanremo in 2015, Ignazio recalled: “In the end the dreams are wishes that come true and this year we are celebrating our 10 years of career: the date dates back to April 25, 2009, and from there everything has changed. But it’s all the fault of this song!”

A refined public, who has repeatedly stood up to applaud and which on the final has broken down into masses, abandoning the armchairs to push himself to the foot of the stage, where the three singers have not pulled back in signing their records and gadgets . Of course, there was no lack of controversy over the blocking of an area, for security reasons.

For the rest, enormous enthusiasm for a party and a great celebration of opera, able to bring more and more young people to this musical genre.

Bar-Lecce 16

Even the adventure PUGLIA has ended, and it seems in the best way.

Wherever they go, these guys leave behind a trail of success and love.

But immediately on the run, next stop ABRUZZO, in the land of Gianluca !!

PALERMO/TAORMINA, MUSICA TOUR 10 and 11 by Daniela

And we arrived in beautiful Sicily, the first appointment is in

P A L E R M O

at the Teatro Verdura.

Sicily has a special charm for our guys, who feel they are at home.

PAL-TAOR 01

“IL MONDO” , “L’AMORE SI MUOVE” (Video published by GDS.)

“PEOPLE”

“VOLARE”

Beautiful this “off program” tribute to the great Sicilian writer Andrea Camilleri who recently passed away.

With great sensitivity, Piero and Ignazio sang a love song in Sicilian dialect, this is the title: “E VUI DURMITI ANCORA 💖” (And You Still Sleep).

Very beautiful this article by All Music of which I translate the best parts.

All Music Italia Article – Click Here

PAL-TAOR 02

All Music Italia was present at the Palermo date of the show that IL VOLO is taking around the world to celebrate ten years of career.

When we talk about Piero Barone, Gianluca Ginoble and Ignazio Boschetto, we must put in sequence the words talent, music and success.

Talking about the concert is a bit like doing singing lessons at the conservatory, I’m not a good teacher but I can tell great stories with my reflex. Piero, Gianluca and Ignazio sing, very well, they talk (a lot) with the public, they joke (without stopping) between them, between dialects and jokes … And between a tribute to Barbra Streisand and Frank Sinatra and one to Modugno, time flies!

Over two hours of emotions, even this umpteenth concert by IL VOLO confirms themselves as a guarantee of great music, of great love.

PAL-TAOR 03

PAL-TAOR 04

And now let’s move on, to the definitely favorite stage of the whole tour.

T A O R M I N A

Yes, because all the stages are important, but some are really SPECIAL and Taormina is certainly the most special of all.

Here the boys are at home, not only in the theater, but everywhere, on every street, in every corner. Taormina loves them, and they reciprocate with the same coin.

Who among us fans wouldn’t want to be there for a concert?

Let’s start with the beautiful photo of Mr. Ginoble.

PAL-TAOR 05

The concert is about to begin.

“L’AMORE SI MUOVE”

“VICINISSIMO”

“ANCORA”

“O SOLE MIO” (Piero)

“MUSICA CHE RESTA”

Listen when Gianluca is good at speaking in Sicilian dialect, these guys too funny, to die for laughing.  🤣 😂 ☺️

The final greetings.

And here is the comment of my friend Melina, present at the concert (bless her!)

“Indescribable concert last night in Taormina. Impressive theater, standing ovation to every song, cheers, laughter, emotion. Words are not enough, they can’t make the idea. The boys are always magnificent, relaxed, happy and jokers. I still haven’t fallen from the pink cloud and I can’t put together coherent thoughts, so much is the wonder mixed with nostalgia and the sense of loss. As soon as I return to the real world, I will try to write something sensible.”

Another comment from Melina:

“The night before the concert, we had dinner at La Botte and the boys came to eat there too, very kind, helpful and patient. Ignazio, who had gone to pick up a granita at the Bambar, (which is in front of the restaurant) and then eat it at the restaurant table, by dint of stopping it before he sat down, made it melt, but he always smiling and affectionate, he didn’t get impatient at all and gave everyone attention.”

PAL-TAOR 15

I would say that they were two fantastic concerts, too bad not to be there, but certainly with the heart, we were all there with them.

But I want to close this beautiful Sicilian parenthesis with a beautiful group photo, a dinner in the beautiful Taormina, with our boys and their friends and ….. Saretto Bam Bar among them.

Bye bye Sicily, Puglia is waiting for us !!

CATTOLICA / MALTA MUSICA TOUR 8/9 by Daniela

And here we are in Emilia Romagna, in Cattolica, a beautiful town near the sea, for stage 8 of the tour.

Let’s start with the photos of Mr.Ginoble.

CATTOLICA - MALTA 01

And here are some videos.

“IL MONDO” – “L’AMORE SI MUOVE”

“GRANDE AMORE”

“LA VOCE DEL SILENZIO”

“MUSICA CHE RESTA”

CATTOLICA - MALTA 02

CATTOLICA - MALTA 03

Beautiful this thought of a girl, present at the concert of Cattolica:

“Spending an evening with the affections of these periods is a luxury. With all the news you hear going on, it becomes every time more difficult. It is as if the suitcase always weighed a little more. Evenings like this become therefore an exceptional normality where to see your grandmother clap her hands in time and be happy because for the first time she enters the beauty of the Arena to hear three boys who she loves becomes one of the moments to cut out and jealously guard.” (Elisa)

CATTOLICA - MALTA 04

And this other short video of another girl present at the Cattolica concerts, her name is Andrea, she is 20 and is in a wheelchair.

She posted the video with this dedication:

“I will never be able to thank you enough for all this. I want for you an immense good, thanks for everything.”

During the concert, she kept a sheet with a dedication that Ignazio read aloud.

The message says:
“I never walked, but with you I learned to fly.”

(Ignazio sends a kiss with his fingers)

G = Love !!
P = You are number one.

And finally, a photo with their beloved manager.

CATTOLICA - MALTA 05

AND NOW MALTA

And here are the guys at the Malta airport.

CATTOLICA - MALTA 06

CATTOLICA - MALTA 07

Piero, Ignazio and Gianluca, also had a press conference. I translate the best comments for you.

I NEWS MALTA Article – Click Here

“It’s difficult to say what will happen in the future, but at the moment we are working on the tour next year. There are several projects. What is certain is that we will continue together.”

This was the third time for Gianluca Ginoble, Piero Barone, Ignazio Boschetto come here to Malta, and they are impressed by the warm welcome given by the Maltese people.

Il Volo also said that nothing prevents in the future from collaborating with Maltese artists such as Michela Pace and Joseph Calleja, a Maltese tenor.

And here are some short videos of the evening.

“VICINISSIMO”

In this video, guys greet people, in Maltese language, or at least try to do it !!

“ARRIVEDERCI ROMA”

It’s great to see, how much fun our kids have, during the concerts, they do a job they love and have fun …….. who knows what makes them laugh like that !!

In fact Malta, has always welcomed the boys with great affection, there is “GRANDE AMORE” in Malta, for IL VOLO.❤❤❤

UNTITLED CONCERT, GIAPPONE by Daniela

While in Japan, IL VOLO participated in the registration of a program called UNTITLED CONCERT.

It’s really a lot of fun, in this video you will see a version, made in four, of “MY WAY”, you will witness joking moments, you will hear “O SOLE MIO” and “GRANADA” and a particular version accompanied by the orchestra alone: “MUSICA CHE RESTA”.

Enjoy the beautiful video!

Really nice and engaging to our boys, and the public certainly appreciated.

Here is a nice sequence of photos.

And here, a list of Japanese iTunes. Even if it is a daily ranking, it is really nice to have these satisfactions.

Japanese_iTunes_IL_VOLO_ranking

I can say that IL VOLO’s charisma has reached as far as the Far East.

The land of the rising sun welcomed Gianluca, Piero and Ignazio with a big hug.

Beautiful music is always and everywhere appreciated, beyond the momentary fashions, the abilities of our boys, are visible to everyone.

MERANO , MUSICA TOUR 7 by Daniela

Despite the very strong wind, MERANO, at Ippodromo di Maia, was also done.

It was the first time Il VOLO had performed in Trentino Alto Adige, and despite the wind, the people were warm and it was a success.

Merano 01

Here is a twitter of the Regional TG.

Fourth and last concert of the Maia Music Festival at the #Merano racecourse. 3,500 spectators listen to the songs of the Volo, the three opera singers, two tenors and a baritone, famous all over the world. Accompanied by an orchestra, they performed the most famous classics.

Here, a short video of “MY WAY”, you can hear and see the strong wind, but the boys have continued in their performance undaunted …… and the people, liked.

“IL MONDO”

“LONTANO DAGLI OCCHI”

“LA VOCE DEL SILENZIO”

“E PENSO A TE”

“L’AMORE SI MUOVE”

My friend Marina was present at the concert, and said it was a success.

There were many people from Germany and Austria.

Despite the wind, the curtains flew, and then the musical scores, the boys have not lost their way of making jokes. This is a video of their “siparietto” (witty, sequence of jokes).

(a spotlight fell on the stage)

G = A sudden gust of wind
I = (turning to the orchestras and playing down) in the end you only took a blow from the lamppost.
G = Even the lights can take flight !! (laughter and applause).
The important thing is that you are well. (addressing people) And how are you?
I’ve already seen some of you, we’ve known each other, some haven’t, because it’s the first time we’ve come here.
I = I really see many new faces.
P = The lady is from Germany.
I = Wasn’t it better to wait until we came to Germany?
P = Here you speak German, don’t you? (the people disagrees)
I = That is, here they speak Italian and, as a second language, German. (this is an area on the border with Germany and Austria, but the identity is Italian)

(Ignazio reads aloud, a great message among the people) I wish I had wings to fly there from you ……… but you don’t need wings, lady, but your legs!!
P = (reads another message) I would like a hug ……. love, later, later.
I = What is it now guys?
P = I don’t know.
G = It’s time to sing, to go on, we all know this song.

Merano 02

These guys are too nice, real entertainers, Marina, also said that, at a certain point, as the wind was getting stronger (in fact Ignazio and Piero finally put a sweatshirt on), Ignazio said: “Okay that our name is Il Volo, but do not overdo it with this wind !!”

They are too funny.

Merano 03

This instead is a short video of amusing speeches, between Ignazio and Piero, taken up by another friend, Antonietta.

P = This is a fairly important year for us, in these 10 years, we have discovered that we have different musical tastes, even three personalities and three different vocalities.
So for a couple of years, we started singing singly even during concerts.
Tonight, the new silhouette of IL VOLO (indicates Ignazio, who has lost weight …. laughter), before we were 4 to sing, 1,2,3 and 4 (while he says this, he indicates himself, then Gianluca and two sometimes Ignazio), now, we are three.
I = I too, I remember we were: me, Gianluca and Dumbo (refers to Piero’s ears …… laughter).
P = I had a little ears like that! (he spreads his ears), then, like tonight, there was a gust of wind and they became like this (he squeezes his ears).
I = But be careful that this wind makes them reopen to you !!

Really hilarious, and Antonietta, told me that so many people in front of and behind her, commented saying, “But how good, how nice they are.”

“GRANDE AMORE”

And here an interview published by the TG Alto Adige.

PR = You are in Merano for the first time, what was your impression?
I = We arrived at night, so we didn’t get a chance to see the place, but it is a very beautiful place, in the mountains, really very beautiful and relaxing.
PR = In a Hippodrome, have you never sung?
I = No, never sang, but I’m a horse lover, so I’m in my habitat.

PR = And you instead? (addressed to Piero)
P = This morning, I woke up, opened the window, and it really looked like a surreal landscape, I sent a picture in the family group, because it looked like a postcard.
PR = Singing at the Hippodrome? (addressed to Gianluca)
G = Surely it is something different, singing at the Hippodrome will be a beautiful emotion. We have had the opportunity to sing in different places, but we will surely remember this, a place as beautiful as Trentino, we love it and Merano is a wonderful city.

In this beautiful video of another TG of ALTO ADIGE TV, there are beautiful words for Il VOLO, I bring you the most important ones.

“Not just music, because Piero, Ignazio and Gianluca are also true entertainers, last night, despite the wind and singing in chorus, the audience also enjoyed the joking words that framed the 15 songs sung by the three boys.
Voices set for opera singing, vocal skills, out of the ordinary, but also the desire to revisit the best of Italian pop music.”

Some beautiful shots.

Merano 04

Merano 05

Merano 06

Perfect, even Trentino Alto Adige, has been successfully archived.
Wherever they go, there are only nice comments and nice articles.
The tenth year celebrations are going very well, and success is really deserved.
But there is still a long way to go, it’s time for Cattolica!
