PALERMO/TAORMINA, MUSICA TOUR 10 and 11 by Daniela

And we arrived in beautiful Sicily, the first appointment is in

P A L E R M O

at the Teatro Verdura.

Sicily has a special charm for our guys, who feel they are at home.

PAL-TAOR 01

“IL MONDO” , “L’AMORE SI MUOVE” (Video published by GDS.)

“PEOPLE”

VOLARE

Beautiful this “off program” tribute to the great Sicilian writer Andrea Camilleri who recently passed away.

With great sensitivity, Piero and Ignazio sang a love song in Sicilian dialect, this is the title: “E VUI DURMITI ANCORA 💖 (And You Still Sleep).

Very beautiful this article by All Music of which I translate the best parts.

All Music Italia Article – Click Here

PAL-TAOR 02

All Music Italia was present at the Palermo date of the show that IL VOLO is taking around the world to celebrate ten years of career.

When we talk about Piero Barone, Gianluca Ginoble and Ignazio Boschetto, we must put in sequence the words talent, music and success.

Talking about the concert is a bit like doing singing lessons at the conservatory, I’m not a good teacher but I can tell great stories with my reflex. Piero, Gianluca and Ignazio sing, very well, they talk (a lot) with the public, they joke (without stopping) between them, between dialects and jokes … And between a tribute to Barbra Streisand and Frank Sinatra and one to Modugno, time flies!

Over two hours of emotions, even this umpteenth concert by IL VOLO confirms themselves as a guarantee of great music, of great love.

PAL-TAOR 03

PAL-TAOR 04

And now let’s move on, to the definitely favorite stage of the whole tour.

T A O R M I N A

Yes, because all the stages are important, but some are really SPECIAL and Taormina is certainly the most special of all.

Here the boys are at home, not only in the theater, but everywhere, on every street, in every corner. Taormina loves them, and they reciprocate with the same coin.

Who among us fans wouldn’t want to be there for a concert?

Let’s start with the beautiful photo of Mr. Ginoble.

PAL-TAOR 05

The concert is about to begin.

“L’AMORE SI MUOVE”

“VICINISSIMO”

“ANCORA”

“O SOLE MIO(Piero)

“MUSICA CHE RESTA”

Listen when Gianluca is good at speaking in Sicilian dialect, these guys too funny, to die for laughing.  🤣 😂 ☺️

The final greetings.

And here is the comment of my friend Melina, present at the concert (bless her!)

“Indescribable concert last night in Taormina. Impressive theater, standing ovation to every song, cheers, laughter, emotion. Words are not enough, they can’t make the idea. The boys are always magnificent, relaxed, happy and jokers. I still haven’t fallen from the pink cloud and I can’t put together coherent thoughts, so much is the wonder mixed with nostalgia and the sense of loss. As soon as I return to the real world, I will try to write something sensible.”

Another comment from Melina:

“The night before the concert, we had dinner at La Botte and the boys came to eat there too, very kind, helpful and patient. Ignazio, who had gone to pick up a granita at the Bambar, (which is in front of the restaurant) and then eat it at the restaurant table, by dint of stopping it before he sat down, made it melt, but he always smiling and affectionate, he didn’t get impatient at all and gave everyone attention.”

PAL-TAOR 15

I would say that they were two fantastic concerts, too bad not to be there, but certainly with the heart, we were all there with them.

But I want to close this beautiful Sicilian parenthesis with a beautiful group photo, a dinner in the beautiful Taormina, with our boys and their friends and ….. Saretto Bam Bar among them.

Bye bye Sicily, Puglia is waiting for us !!

Your First Time…with the Guys!

I know from time to time, Marie would often post some comments that were too precious to leave behind and worth being read by all.  I feel this is one of those times….

Laura, from Florida, made some beautiful comments, along with a few others on my “$6.86 a minute” re-post from a few weeks ago now… here are some excerpts from (or in its entirety) their comments!  And thank you to those that said I was pretty!  That photo was from the first meet/greet with the guys from PBS, taken by the pro photographer.  I honestly can’t remember, but I think that was before we saw them!  Certainly, you can see the joy and anticipation in my face.  It is really a good picture of me.  🙂  I don’t always look that good – lol!

Laura (and others) – hope you don’t mind me re-posting this, I thought it was so awesome!  To those that have met them, we all say the same thing the first time “tongue-tied, star-struck, zombie-brained,” etc. and wished we could have come up with something a bit more witty than “you were so wonderful….”  You know, I wonder what the guys are thinking and what it’s like to have all these “mature” women, just seem to turn to mush right before their eyes (that’s it – don’t look into their eyes!  That’s when our brains turn to mush!)?  We have a long time now to decide what to say to them, whether for the first time or the fifth time, and Laura has helped us out here!

Laura said….

Jana, You sure are pretty and I got a kick out of your ingenious (and scary) title! I’m a two-years old “newbie” to IL VOLO. This is the first time I’ve read your piece here. I smiled, laughed and almost cried from what apparently can be a very poignant IL VOLO Meet & Greet experience. I’ve not yet attended one, but if I ever do, I think I’d have to go armed with some kind of self-protective, humorous, but sincere comment for the actual, terrifyingly awkward moment of having to say one other thing to them beyond a sincere, quick, ‘Hello. Wonderful to meet you! ‘ Maybe something to each, like “I just had to come talk with you; sweetness is my weakness.” or, “When God made you guys, he was showing off.” “So, how was Heaven when you left it?” “If I had a star for every time you brightened my day, I’d have a galaxy in my hand.” “What time do you have to be back in Heaven?” “I’ve never seen such dark eyes filled with so much light in them.” “Oh, I think you’ve got something in your eye. No; wait; It’s just a sparkle.” “I think I can die happy now, ’cause I’ve just heard and seen a piece of Heaven.” “Did it hurt when you fell out of Heaven?” (For the bolder Ilvolover, s/he could pretend to look at the tag in the back of his shirt and say, “Yep!! Made in Heaven.”)

From Victoria Wilson…

I don’t even know how to tell you how touched I was about what you wrote. You are beautiful and your story made me realize how similar we all are over these boys. On bad days when the pain is so bad I cannot have a blanket on me, I am so grateful to have my YouTube on my TV so I can sooth that savage beast in me that is making my day miserable. I’m past being infatuated with them after seeing them on American Idol and went on an urgent search for them on YouTube. Even then you could find bits and pieces. We’ve gotten all their albums, DVD’s and after seeing them in Minneapolis, we had tickets immediately to go to Italy. My husband and I have them singing in our house and car and wherever we are. Every day we think we have found our favorite song until we find something we haven’t heard before on YouTube and then we are enthralled all over again. We cannot seem to get enough and marvel at how they have grown. How I did that trip to Italy, I will never know. I pray I can do it again. Thank you is such a small phrase to use in telling you how much I enjoy your emails every day. My dearest friend has a tin ear and how sad that she cannot get the joy I do from these wonderful talented boys. They make my days happy and some rough nights fly by with their voices in my ear. Bless you and I’m so glad someone else feels just the way we do and can never get enough of their music. I love all of you out there. Victoria

From Laura Parish…

And you are completely reeled in. There is no hope from this addiction.

From Loretta Foley, Canada…

Girls are you all crazy asking yourself is it worth it? OF COURSE IT IS WORTH IT & OF COURSE THEY ARE MORE THAN WORTH IT THEY ARE IL VOLO. NO SINGER IS BETTER THAN IL VOLO. THEY ARE OUR PRECIOUS IL VOLO & NOBODY CAN TAKE THEIR PLACE EVER. Cost is nothing. IL VOLO IS EVERYTHING IN OUR LIVES. The only thing I have to figure out is how can I get enough money to follow them around the world???? then for sure my son will be trying to force me into a home for the mentally unbalanced but that will never work either. WE ARE ALL ADDICTED WITH LOVE TO THE MOST AMAZING YOUNG MEN ON EARTH. All other entertainers will never understand how they can get the same attraction from their followers, their loss. PLEASE, PLEASE KEEP ME POSTED ON ANY CONCERT OR INFORMATION THAT I MIGHT MISS

JANA LOVE YOUR POST excuse me for going a little crazy. Can’t understand why anyone wouldn’t put them first & foremost. Oh well I’ll settle down in a few minutes. I go to a senior centre on Thursdays & I bring Il Volo with me so they graciously play their music for me. A new lady has joined the group who is from Italy & she also listens to Il Volo so now everyone else is getting used to listening to Il Volo. YIPPEE.

From rpappas…

I can’t say anything other than PERFECTLY SAID. I could feel my own emotions welling up with each word. Could never explain it but you did. Thank you. I’m going to copy this and just give it to people when they ask me why11! Thank you!

From Dorothy Henderson…

Jana, you are priceless! When I made the big discovery, on PBS, I didn’t have a way to see them! I told my daughter to search on her computer…bingo…she found the three that were to forever change my lack of technology! , She went right out and got me a tablet and the rest is history! Thanks for sharing your experience! I haven’t even looked for a support group! Here’s to more and more AMORE! Dot in Texas!

From our own Daniela P…

Jana, are you sure you posted it a year ago? Then maybe I did not read it.
I had a lot of fun, because I recognized myself in your attitudes.
I believe every Ilvolover recognizes itself in your words, in the anxiety that makes you look for everything talk about them, that you spend for both distant and expensive Meet & Greet concerts.
You wonder if it’s worth it …….. certainly yes, we have no doubts.

From Joan Guyon…

Jana Lucky you. I have yet to attend a meet and greet. If I get the chance, I will take your advice and save up for it. Joanie G

From Marie… (I know she posted this last year, but a good laugh again is always great!)

Jana, I swear I laughed for 5 minutes. Believe me I understand.
~ Just another addict.

From Lynn Delaney…

Jana, this cracked me up. There’s so much in your story we can relate to.

My heart-felt thanks to those that commented here.  I did not have much of a chance to reply to your comments, as I was in Miami, but I loved them all!  However, I read them all and many smiles came to my face.  Each day I think I’m going to throw in the towel here and is keeping this site going worth it?  But then I read your comments, it only takes one or two, and then I remember why I’m doing this!  So, thank you!  Grazie Mille!

Jana

Ciao a tutti!!  Ok, well, we didn’t reach our goal today of 50 comments, even with me answering everyone… technically we only had 17 initial posts.  But that’s ok.  We heard from some that haven’t commented in a long time, or was even their first time, so welcome!  And several of our “young” faithful and loyal commenters returned.  There are some lovely comments below – I hope you have a chance to read them.  If you didn’t comment on this original posting from yesterday, I welcome you to comment now.  Even if you don’t comment, that’s ok – we know you are reading!  🙂

I loved how many of you said that we are the first thing you read in the morning and that you either found us through other friends on FaceBook, or just through frantic searches on the Internet!

Sorry, no pictures today… but OMG, have you seen the ones Gianluca and Piero are posting!!!???   Holy Bologna!  (ok, how are you pronouncing it?  lol!)  They stay in the water much longer and they will turn into prunes.

Below are your comments!  Thank you all!  🙂

Love this site. Found out about it from an Il Volo follower who I made friends with on fb. I have made so many friends on fb bc of these three amazing young guys. I just love them all but have to admit Ignazio pulls at my heartstrings. I look forward everyday to look at my e-mails to see if there are any new posts . So happy I found this site. Thank you.

Thank you Jana for including me in your post. I’ll never leave this site because you girls work so hard to give us all the up to date information of where & what our precious young men are doing. Still saying Ignazio is MINE.

Reply

I love Ignazio too.

Reply

He’s MINE! All mine! Will always be mine! Can’t bring myself to share him, but I understand how you feel.

Igna is just special, there is just something about him. Many start liking Gian or Piero, but then all of a sudden, they start to stray toward Igna. There is something about those eyes and dimples!

My day starts on this site. And ends on this site. I don’t remember the date I started to read the posts on the “official” site, but happily came over here to be among the loving fans of Il Volo from it’s beginning. Our combined love for Il Volo has made us a family that is just as caring and nurturing as the blood related family God gave us. I am grateful for our boys, their talent, their hard work and most of all, their love for us, their fans! Thanks to everyone on this site. Love you all.

Thank you so much, Linda! I sure like a lot of these people on this site better than my family!

I discovered the boys in 2012, and literally hung on YouTube looking for music, and reading all the other comments from old ladies like me, shocked that I wasn’t the only one. I went to Meadow Brook for their concert in Aug 2012, then started searching the Internet for more than just YouTube. Somehow I found this. I keep coming back because it is just chock full of info, pictures, reviews, fun reading. I don’t have a specific me ryan of anything special, but I do remember you, Jana, contacting me when you read I was also from Detroit. I think that is pretty cool, and then I got to meet others thru you. ,

Oh, Barb, that is so sweet!! You know, you are always welcome at our parties and your hubby, too! We just may need to do some more convincing to him of your affections to the guys! Next time a concert or trip is planned, we will just drag you along!

I found the Flight Crew from an internet search for IL VOLO. What kept me coming back was all of the comments about the guys and stories of the concerts and meet & greets. I had yet to attend a concert and was craving information about what everyone else had experienced. You all did not disappoint! I don’t really have a favorite post because I love them all!

That’s great, Pat! So glad you found us, and we met in Chicago. Too bad we never made it for dinner, but breakfast was fun!

Four years already, I cannot believe it !!! Four years of going to the Flight Crew site first thing in the morning and a couple of times during the day to read all the comments. Flight Crew members may unknowingly pass each other in the street , but when we come to the site we are the best of friends., as we are all united in our admiration, (and love) for our 3 handsome young men. How they have grown since the first PBS concert in Detroit in 2011, and we have followed them along that path.Thank you to everybody who originally started the site, and to all who followed and continue to keep the site up and running. Thank you for keeping us all up to date on their various activities and future concert dates, where and when.Long may the site flourish, and continue to grow.

Reply

I love your last line there… So wonderful that our site ranks right up there with your morning cup of coffee. Such devoted fans and followers we have. Let’s hope the people we pass on the street are not people we “think” we don’t like for some reason? lol!

Thanks for staying with us this whole time – cheers to many more years!

Even though you don’t hear from this little birdie much, this site is still my heart.

One of my fondest memories has to be that when we started this site we were hoping to be read a thousand times. Remember, Kelly? We said if we ever reached ten thousand we would have a party. Well…this site has been read more than a million and a half times. Unbelieveable!

The very best thing though has been meeting people like Linda, Jane, Jana, Kelly and many more of you who have had the good taste to love those boys as much as I.

Reply

Grazie mille, little birdie!!

Doesn’t matter what you say or how you say it Marie. Keep dreaming, it’s good for the soul & I can also understand how you feel. No matter he is still & always will be MINE & eventually he will permanently belong to someone else.

Reply

Marie – yes, even though I have sort of taken over managing the day to day postings, this site will always be “your site.” I and everyone know it! You are a legend in your own time! And Linda, may she rest in peace and keep a look out over the boys. You, and Kelly and a few others have kept it going. Let’s all keep it going as long as we can! Let’s get to 2 million! Then we’ll really have a party!

I started watching the old Il Volo Music site and through that got to know Marie if I remember correctly. She cued me into the Flight Crew site when it was just getting started. I immediately loved the intimacy of its format and getting to know the people who commented regularly like family. I would be hard to identify a favorite post, but it would have to be one of Marie’s. When she asked me to be a regular contributor I was pleased, but very unsure of myself. I actually wrote over 60 articles, some under the title Personally Speaking, a task which has been a great joy to me, and spurred on by the encouraging comments of our readers. Our boys are truly an inspiration, and the Flight Crew blog has been the perfect place to share our admiration and love for them.

Reply

Mary, wow, 60 articles! That’s incredible! Thanks for sticking it out from the very beginning. I was also honored that Marie let me write for the site too – what a monster was unleashed, she had no idea! lol! It’s definitely like coming home again – your safe place. You are indeed an inspiration to all of us, as well as a beautiful writer.

I discovered Il Volo in 2012 and went to my first concert that year at the Kravis Center in FL. My next concert was in Orlando FL September 2013 and afterwards I immediately went into unimaginable Il Volo PCSD (Post Concert Stress Disorder) !!! There was not a soul who I could vent my pent up love and emotions to !!! I wanted to scream !! I was tired of being looked at like I was a mental case !! Then in October while scanning the Internet I thankfully found the Flight Crew !!! Finally a place to go where everyone felt the same way and shouted out their love for our three talented and endearing young men from their hearts without reserve !!! I was welcomed with open arms !!! I was home !!! All the posts are my favorite and although I don’t post everyday I read all of them !!! It’s been a fantastic 4 years and I hope we will all still be here for many years to come !! Congratulations to all of you who keep the Flight Crew going day after day !! You are doing a fantastic job !!

In the fall of 2015 I was browsing many pages of facebook searching for IL VOLO News. Suddenly I come across a review of their beautiful concert, I liked it as it highlighted the feelings and then talking about the meet and greet and how he was noticed by the guys and what a surprise when I read that whoever wrote was A man, John. At the bottom of the review was written: posted on Flight Crew, here’s how I found it. When I came to this site I read for many months without ever commenting but finally I was where I wanted to be, surrounded by people who really love Piero Ignazio and Gianluca. I was at the concert in Florence on July 1, 2016 and a few days later I decided to comment. Ever since then, I follow all your comments with anxiety and affection. I am enrolled in several fanpages but this one remains the page I admire most, the one I’m most fond of and where I have met wonderful people. Becoming also an active part has been a further pride for me. I feel in a big family.

Daniela – I never realized you were also at the July 1 concert! So glad you finally commented. We are so grateful for your almost daily contributions. I found the Flight Crew about two and a half year’s ago, and if I remember rightly it was through the Il Volo Music site. Everybody was so welcoming, and it felt like I had come home. Since then, I go onto the site as soon as I get out of bed every morning, and several times during the day. I don’t want to miss any news about the guy’s. My favorite post’s were when Marie and Jane were in Italy. They were so funny, and I told them they could be the opening act for Il Volo! Their sense of humor is similar to mine( I don’t know if that is a good thing or bad) Thank you to everyone that keep’s this site going

I cannot remember the date I joined but It has been my morning ritual to check to see who posted a personal story or news about the boys. MY MOST FAVORITE time was before and during San Remo. We were excited and voting day and night on various contests and ‘yelling’ when the critics were so unfair to the boys during San Remo an Eurovision.

Reply

Gina – yes, Sanremo was an exciting and exhilarating time for us and the boys! Sometimes I think – where would they be now, if they hadn’t have won 2 years ago? Would they have tried again? Would they be drowning their sorrows on our shoulders at the meet/greets? I know our tickets to the concerts would probably be a lot cheaper! lol! Grazie mille for all that you do! We love all your ideas for posts, too! Just give us some time to put them together!

Like so many others my interest in the guys began with their first PBS special. After that, I began searching the Internet looking for information on who they were, where they came from etc. My first Il Volo concert was their first at Radio City. From then on I was in overdrive for more info. I don’t know how I stumbled across the Flight Crew but I was very hesitant at first to post. It wasn’t until June of last year that I posted my first comment. Like others I enjoy reading the many articles be it on the guys or the foods and customs of the different regions of Italy or the adventures of some of the Flight Crew members on their trips to Italy. And of course, the great stories and reviews by other Flight Crew followers after attending an Il Volo concert. Thanks to all who keep this site up and rolling!

Wow, Annette!! You waited a long time, just to be sure, we really weren’t crazy after all and joined in on the fun!! We are so glad you did! But, I know how you feel…. when you first post, you are like “are they going to like me? what if I say something someone doesn’t like, or what if Marie says I can’t have Igna, because he is hers?” But, I’m so glad you were brave and took the plunge! So wonderful to have you here and your personal account of the Miami concert was terrific! Grazie mille!!

I hope everyone enjoyed their flight today… 🙂  Your next flight leaves promptly at 7:00am EST tomorrow from Detroit!  Thank you for flying Il Volo Flight Crew – Share the Love, and fly with us again, soon!  Arrivederci!

Tanti Auguri! to the Il Volo Flight Crew ~ Share the Love…Aug 8, 2013

What?  Has it been 4 years already?  Seems like only yesterday, well maybe last week to many of you.  (ok, just pretend the picture says “4th” anniversary – I’m too tired to try and change it!) I did not find anniversary post 3this site til about a year later, about June 2014.  I have to say though, sometimes it feels like it’s been a lifetime already.  How much the boys have done, grown, and accomplished in these last 4 years!

A little birdie swooped down about 6:30p last night to “remind” us it was the site’s 4-year anniversary.  But before I could catch her, she swiftly few away as quickly as she made her fluttery appearance.  So…. I thought I’d repost the “first” post, but somewhere the original Aug 8, 2013 post had disappeared?  So, I went with the first one that is dated August 10, 2013 – 100 Comments in 2 days!  Wow, those were the days!?  It was written by Kelly and had 14 comments.

100 Comments!!!!!!!!

Wow we work fast! 100 comments in only 2 days!

I think The Boys approve! 😉

It’s looks like everyone here is having fun. I hope anyone that hasn’t made it over yet,  will find their way. We miss you guys! *hugs*

Happy commenting!

Kelly

I know Kelly and a few others are still around, that is pretty awesome!  So, in honor of all of you who started with this crew and all of the new people that have joined us in the last few weeks even – a GRANDE GRAZIE MILLE!  We couldn’t have done it without you!

Today, this is going to be YOUR post – made up of all of your comments.  I will post it on Wednesday.  I’d like you to answer 3 short questions:

  1. Do you remember how you found this site?  How did you feel?
  2. What kept you coming back?
  3. What are some of your favorite posts or memories from this site?

I will give you my answers:

  1. After I had seen my first concert at Freedom Hill in June 2014, I just started scouring the Internet and somehow this site popped up.  I felt I was finally at home, surrounded by hundreds of crazy people, just like me!
  2. I loved all the stories and each and every tidbit I could get from the site about the boys, personal details, pictures, concerts, meet/greets, and when they were coming back.  I also loved reading all of the comments and the fun sparring back and forth of the fighting over the guys from all the “grandmothers!”  🙂
  3. Of course I have to say I love the things I wrote – lol!  And of course all of the meet/greet reviews, concert reviews, heartfelt stories from Mary and Jane, and can’t forget Marie’s poetry – I love “Night before Christmas….”

Ok, here’s the challenge, we want to hear from you!!  Let’s go for a goal of at least 50 comments.  Pretend it’s one of those Il Volo polls and you can vote as many times as you want!  Please feel free to comment, even if you never did before!  And even if you have commented a 100 times before, like Loretta, Penina, Pirate, Rose Marie, Rosemary, Cynthia, Victoria, Gina, Jane, Kelly, Marie, Ann, Pat, Daniela, Dani, Lydka, Joanie, Madeline, Lynn, Mary, and these are just right off the top of my head, I know there are many more out there!!  It says we have over 270 followers….

On your mark, get set, Il Volo!!!

Ciao – Jana

I love that plan Gina. I’m in. I am like all of you in regards to our boys. I think I have said it here before, that my day starts around 4-5 am. The night before, both iPads are charged for my morning ritual. Get my first cup of Java, my two recharged iPads, get bewitchedback into my bed, ear pods connected to the first iPad and begin searching for news of our guys. I have two iPads ’cause after a few hours, the first one needs recharging but I have a spare waiting so I don’t have to wait. I go to my gmail for the “Flight CREW”. Then to ” Twitter”, “Tumbler” “Facebook” and last but not least, “You Tube”. I have a playlist of so many of ” IL VOLO’S ” songs and videos which keeps me entertained for hours.
My family, well, they just smile and tolerate me when I start babbling about our wonderful guys. They do love their songs but they think I’m a FANATIC. Isn’t that what FAN means?. Silly people. They just don’t understand us. Never mind. My one world is filled with music by three beautiful Italians and the other world is my reality world. My children just tell me to enjoy the boys and have a great time. “You’ll see them soon enough in LAS VEGAS”.

Gina! Great idea! But why don’t we fund raise, buy one of those small, abandoned VILLAGES! We could restore it for Il Volo as a bolt hole! The more famous they get the more they will need a sanctuary from the craziness. Anonymity guaranteed! A tennis court for Piero. Beach access for Gianluca. And a place for Ignazio’s horses. Their family and friends could come to stay. And guess who would be running the operation?!! The Flight Crew, of course! What better way to spend time with The Guys! All to ourselves! A recording studio? All the amenities. They would never leave except to go on tour! What do you think, Crew?!! What a dream!!

Lynn, we’re waiting for you to find that village! ~M

On one trip to Italy, we went to my friend’s uncle’s home in a hilltop in Abruzzo. The roads were winding and as we went further up, we passed a beautiful wine store I called ‘The Secret of Vittorio” and we could see Switzerland from there! When we finally got there, the town was only about 3 blocks long and all the young people were moving to the city. As we sat and ate our dinner at the table, a song was playing on the radio called “La Prima Cosa Bella.” It was a beautiful song and one very old lady was sitting there crying. She had only left the town once to go to Rome. It was unforgetable. My friend’s uncle had greeting us wearing a suit! That year Italy was on strike and we had to hire a taxi to take us anywhere in the country. I don’t know if that town is still there.

commented on “Columbus Day Parade”

cols day paradeIt just so happened that I was flying from Florida to NY to visit with my kids for the Columbus Day Weekend and low and behold I find out that Il Volo will be in the parade !! Was that luck or what !!!
My kids were good sports and went with me even though I knew they would be bored to death. We met up with Madeline Vitella (we had not been together since our trip to Italy !! ) and her daughter and we all sat in the 3rd row in the Grandstand at 68th Street. The boys performed between 68th and 69th Streets. Madeline had gotten there early and was able to see the boys do their sound checks which was very exciting for her !! We got there about 11:15. In a very short time the guys who were leading off the parade right behind the motorcycles and mounted police were approaching us and we were ready for them !! Madeline had an Il Volo shirt on ( mine unfortunately was at home !!) and we held up an Il Volo scarf that she had gotten at a M&G !!! We were holding up the scarf and yelling GIANLUCA on the top of our lungs !!! He looked up from his phone and a big smile lite up his gorgeous face !!! He recognized us and pointed, waved and blew kisses to us and even as they were passing us by he kept looking behind him and continued to blow kisses our way !!! Absolutely Adorable !!! Piero also saw us and gave us a big smile and a wave !! Unfortunately Ignazio was looking in another direction. We could see them on the stage but we couldn’t hear them sing very well as there’s was lots of noise and music from the parade. Delilah was a little bit louder then Grande Amore but we had to leave before Volare which I heard was the loudest. All in all it was a fantastic day and very exciting to be able to eyeball our precious ones and a thrill that Gianluca recognized and acknowledged us !! There are photos we took on FB or our timelines (mine is Joan Brenin). I don’t know how to post them here !!! I’m sorry that this post got so wordy but I really wanted to share our special day with my Flight Crew family 💕💕

Thanks for sharing this Joanie! ~M

Hello Crew!.. I commented once before but I am not sure what happened, I think the comment got lost somewhere ..haha
Anyways, I stumbled upon this site and I LOVE it!

I am 22 years old. I find it really hard to relate to people my age around here where I live..because they listen to other types of music and most of them don’t know who Il Volo is. :((
Anyways, just wanted to pass by and leave a comment!

Welcome Lauren! ~M

PIRATE!!
Noooooooo!! I’m not going to Vegas!! And I’m soooo upset!! I would love to be there as much to go to the dinner and meet everybody as to see I’ll Volo! I’ll head up the “Left Behind ” committee! And I’ll see IV in Albany. Probably eat dinner BY MYSELF!!
And remember my Bail Fund is available for Vegas in case anybody manages to run amok out there!! Myron will be in charge of it!!

Lynn, I’m not going to Vegas either….so we are in the same rotten stinky boat. We won’t be there to meet all our fellow Flight Crew folks nor will we be able to stop Marie from doing something sneaky like kidnapping Mr.Dimples. But ….we can valiantly share our pain together you and I and a bottle of rum.

MARY!!!

A very poignant perspective you have prepared and presented. OK, enough ‘P’ words offor the moment. I shared once before in a thread on this site, that the great love and affection these young men openly demonstrate for each other is a beautiful testament to their families of origin. They were brought up to embrace their emotional core and to not be ashamed to express it at will, in whatever circumstance or environment that develops. Not that this type of behavior can be completely learned, it has to also be endogenous to the individual. Nature and Nurture, if you will. They’ve got some mighty good “genes”, too.

My preamble was to make this observation about “the boys” as it pertains to your article, Mary. Family and Fatherhood,…for The Flight,….in the Future, lol. Let’em be young musical pioneers first, before becoming young musical parents!!! No doubt these young men impress us with their skill sets around babies, kids, young people, mature people, fans, the media, bus-drivers, and everyone else that happens upon them. Have we ever witnessed them not being genteel, kind, and thoughtful of those around them,……?

My point is this Mary, wouldn’t you love to be a fly on the wall in that delivery room waiting area when one of these three young men is about to become a father??? Don’t you know for everyone else there in that waiting area who is not part of the Barone, Boschetto, and Ginoble families,…it will be hard to determine just which of the three guys standing there is actually the “daddy-to-be”!!! These boys are so close to one another, and frankly always will be, that the excitement and joy of pending parenthood will be unequivocally shared by all three no matter which one is the actual “father-in-waiting”.

All three of them will attend the births of each others children, will be part of each others weddings, will vie with each other for Godfather status, lol, and will be the best Uncles each others kids could ever want. Il Volo are not just three young men that perform together, they are family in every sense of what that word implies. In all of life’s great events they will be there in heart, body and faith,…one for another. These boys are bound together by a love for each other that I’ve never witnessed before in the entertainment industry. You can see it in their eyes when they look at one another, and you can feel it in your soul when they embrace each other as brothers on and off the stage. I love these boys for being authentic and genuine.

I have been taught to cherish and honor my friends differently since Gianluca, Ignazio, and Piero came into my heart.

Godspeed, Il Volo
