Il Volo, in these days has returned to continue their work. The rehearsals for the Morricone event must continue.
Piero, Ignazio and Gianluca have reunited in Milan, where they can also work in the recording studio.
A jump to Sony ….
and at work in the recording studio.
Together with Saturnino (musician and composer) perhaps for some collaboration?
Dinner in hotel.
(dinners are allowed at this time in Italy, only if you are a guest in a hotel)
I want to try to explain this little skit to you:
An aperitif was poured to the boys and Piero welcomes it as if it were a romance and sings:
Piero = Morelli, what a generous wine, I swallowed too many glasses (and raises the glass together with Gianluca)
Gianluca = Gian tonic (he gave his name to the aperitif)
Piero = (still singing) I go out in the open (because in the evening in Italy, at this moment, you can drink an aperitif but only outdoors)
Ignazio = (after hearing Piero and Gian with opera tones, he speaks in Sicilian) Damn, Morelli I’ll drink the Gian tonic !! laughs
Morelli = Damn, you’re in a bad way tonight !!
A few moments of leisure with the owners Morelli and great chef La Mantia.
Repost from Morelli hotel:“Thanks Il Volo for letting us fly with your wonderful voices.”
Morelli (with glasses) is the owner of the hotel, La Mantia is a famous chef who, due to the pandemic, has closed his restaurant in MIlan, and his friend Morelli has made available to him the use of the kitchen of his hotel.
And now a nice moment for American friends !!
Our tireless Gianluca delights us with two short videos:
from the hotel terrace with a panoramic view of Milan
and in the beautiful Piazza Duomo in Milan (our original video preview was blocked, please click on the link below)
Guys, seeing you so smiling fills us with joy and makes us face the days better.
As for the reopening of the concert season at the Verona Arena, there are still many difficulties, because since April 26 the government has allowed the reopening of the theaters but with a maximum of 1,000 people. The mayor of Verona wrote and published a long letter to the parliamentarians of the Veneto (his region) asking them to intervene on this and save the Arena season. I remind you, that the Arena contains about 20 thousand people and making shows with 1,000 people is really senseless, also there is always the curfew at 22.00 (10:00 pm).
Here is an excerpt from the mayor’s letter:
“I bring to your attention, both in my capacity as Mayor and President of the Arena di Verona Foundation, the problem of the ‘opening’ of the Arena Amphitheater and its ‘capacity’ in anticipation of the start of the next opera and extra-opera season In fact, the draft of the Law Decree relating to the ‘reopenings’ starting from next April 26 provides for a capacity of the theaters not exceeding 50% of the maximum authorized. (1,000 people).
It is clear that with these limitations it will be necessary to review the entire Arena programming for the summer of 2021 which foresees for the extra lyric, as the first event on June 5, 2021, the performance of Il Volo broadcast also by an important American television station with more than 90 million viewers, while the premiere of the opera season with Verdi’s ‘Aida’ was set for 19 June 2021.
About a month after the start of the Arena season (opera and extra opera), it is not possible to change the ambitious programming already prepared in every detail and on which the organizational machine has already started.
Therefore, I ask you to take an active part in all the appropriate locations, in order to allow the next Arena season to take place.”
We don’t want to disturb you during the recordings or rehearsals of the tribute concert, but keep in touch with us fans, seeing you is a joy and knowing that you are working for us too, makes us so happy.
As for the Morricone tribute concert, we sincerely hope that everything goes as hoped and that the audience (even if only 6,000 people) will be able to attend live.
The Flight Crew will keep its readers informed on the evolution of all this.
Sunday 10 November, an instore, this time Milan, with a mini-live from the Mondadori balcony, overlooking Piazza del Duomo.
The whole week there was bad weather, rain and cold, but on Sunday a sun 🌞 and ablue sky welcomed our boys!
In this video, the boys say that they have just arrived in Milan and are waiting for the fans in Piazza Duomo.
And here they are, from the balcony where they performed, happy to show their NEW CD with a sea of people behind them in one of the most beautiful Italian squares.
Yes, among that multitude of people, I am there too, with my husband. We are there, impossible to recognize ourselves.
What a thrill, we arrived by train in Milan and, going up the underground staircase, and going out in front of the Duomo, white and magnificent that raises its spires in a preciousblue sky …… priceless.
As soon as we arrived in square, here they are, Ignazio, Piero and Gianluca, who face the balcony of the library, located in a beautiful old building, right next to the Duomo.
The square is full of people, not everyone is a fan. A lot of people are walking around Milan, but they stop to listen, and we are all with our noses up, listening to these beautiful voices, the arms at the top holding cell phones, intent on recording this beautiful event. Nobody moves, everyone looks up, wonderful.
The event was very beautiful, the boys sang four songs and exactly: IL MONDO
MUSICA CHE RESTA
A CHI MI DICE
GRANDE AMORE and the square responded with so much warmth.
An incredible emotion, seeing them and hearing them sing from that balcony, with the Duomo a stone’s throw from us.
And here is the video I recorded, I missed the beginning, but then I recorded the whole moment for you, without interruption. Good vision to you……enjoy! 😘
After “IL MONDO”, the boys say goodbye and Piero says they are here because their new album celebrating their 10-year career was released the other day and this is their way of thanking them for their support.
Gianluca thanks everyone for being here.
Ignazio says that this year they were in Sanremo and presented a song that he likes very much, “MUSICA CHE RESTA”. (fans acclaim Ignazio)
Immediately thereafter follows “A CHI MI DICE”.
After the song, Gianluca says they want to remember one of the most exciting moments of their career, when they won the Sanremo festival in 2015.
Piero adds that it’s their way to greet everyone.
Gianluca adds that with this song they want to transmit all their “GRANDE AMORE” to us.
Here are the few photos I took:
Here I am, happy and proud, with my new CD, in my hands. ❤️
Unfortunately I couldn’t get the CD signed. 😢
The day was beautiful, but when the sun went down, it started to get very cold. I was at the end of the long line, I was frozen, it was dark and there was still more than an hour waiting in the cold, and unfortunately also the train ride to return home. So, happy for the unexpected day (I wasn’t sure I could go to Milan), I returned home.
And here, below, other photos of the event in Piazza Duomo.
Very nice video from Radio Subasio.
This is also from Leggo.it.
The speaker asks the guys what they felt.
Piero replies that it is a great emotion to see all those people there for them, for an artist it is the greatest joy, looking out at a balcony and seeing all those people. Il Volo loves these people so much, and people love them. ❤️
Ignazio says that today they understood, what the Pope feels.😁
Gianluca says that for them it is like a birthday, 10 years of career, a great goal, and there will be other years of friendship, music and loyalty.😘
The speaker asks what was the most beautiful emotion of these 10 years and Piero replies, the honor when they sang in front of Pope Francis, a memory that they will carry with them for their whole life.
There are no words to describe the excitement of that square full of people and to hear Piero, Ignazio and Gianluca raise their beautiful voices up, up, even higher.
But there are still so many events awaiting us.
Thanks guys, it’s always possible to be with you.
The boys, seeing this photo, said: 10 years of instores, the first photo is the first year, where there would have only been a dozen people and the second photo is today. ❤️ 😄
And those who found Barletta, the friends Boccia and Esposito, the authors of Grande Amore.
I miei grandi amori…….sempre e per sempre nel mio cuore ❤️
My great loves … always and forever in my heart ❤️
L E C C E
Thanks to the beautiful photos of Mr. Ginoble, a really crowded square, in the beautiful square of the Cathedral of Lecce.
“NO PUEDE SER” (final)
“LONTANO DAGLI OCCHI”
“MUSICA CHE RESTA”
The view is far away but it serves to have the whole of the square and the final reaction of the people. At the end of the song, the boys demand a big applause for Alessandro Quarta, who is performing in his land.
And here in the front row, among the people, is the bishop of Lecce.
You must know, that the Cathedral in Lecce is a symbolic square of the local church: with a single entrance, it is closed by the buildings of the Diocesan Museum and the Bishop’s Palace. The previous bishop had always denied her use at concerts. The current, Monsignor Michele Seccia, who chairs the commission, has instead decided to open it, long enough to grant it for the summer 2019, also to Il Volo and Fiorella Mannoia. Denied instead, to those singers with songs with explicit or irreverent lyrics.
Gianluca: “It is an honor to be here and to sing in front of ‘my’ bishop.”
A concert that showed a splendid combination of the baroque art of Piazza Duomo and the musical art of this trio. The uniqueness of the artistic frame of the venue was in fact highlighted by the leading singers of the evening: “As soon as we took the stage a few minutes ago, we saw a magnificent scenery, one of the most beautiful squares not of Italy but of the world.” Gianluca Ginoble said, “The idea of singing in Piazza Duomo was born four years ago, when we were on vacation in Porto Cesareo with our manager Michele Torpedine, and after coming for a walk in Lecce, we thought about how nice it would be to sing in this place. Today this dream has come true.”
It was Ginoble, who with the other comrades of the group, had an episcopal meeting with the archbishop to address a personal greeting to Msgr. Michele Seccia, stating that it was an honor to sing for the archbishop this evening. The singer recalled that he had received the sacrament of confirmation from Bishop Seccia, when the latter exercised his episcopal ministry in the diocese of Teramo-Atri. Great successes of the group excited those present, who sang songs like “Grande Amore” and “L’amore si muove”.
Among the surprises, the performance by violinist Alessandro Quarta, an artist much appreciated for his rigorous Salentine origins. A concert that took place in a workmanlike manner, the organization was impeccable in terms of plant engineering and safety and security measures adopted.
Il Volo at the Duomo, the lyric that becomes pop welcomed in the heart of the Baroque of Lecce
Their voice is majestic and seems to give further strength and intensity to the Baroque art that frames Piazza Duomo: Ignazio, Piero and Gianluca begin by singing “Il Mondo” and are full of energy, they are young, they are beautiful.
Last night in “tour” in Lecce, the three singers of the opera group “Il Volo” have bewitched the Salento public, with their masterful singing and artistic qualities, with their “savoire faire” of other times, made however very current by the sympathy and from the synergy that hovers between them. Very elegant and formal, like in a top-level theater.
Gianluca Ginoble’s grace was immediately evident, in thanking the Bishop of Lecce, Monsignor Michele Seccia, for the hospitality that the singer remembers having met on the occasion of his Confirmation. On the other hand Il Volo has always been able to juggle the graces of the Church: not least, the famous “selfie” that Pope Francis granted them this winter in Panama.
“Ah, heck, at 12 you couldn’t keep it in the Curia?!” Ignazio Boschetto jokes. The trio performed great international classics, such as “Can’t help falling in love” by Elvis Presley and “My Way” by Frank Sinatra and Italians, like “Volare”, by Domenico Modugno.
In the front line there is also a fourth protagonist: the Salentine violinist Alessandro Quarta, who a few months ago performed on the stage of the Ariston, for Il Volo, “Musica che resta”. “I’ve always dreamed of playing here, at the Duomo. But never would I have thought of a concert next to the three of them, which are the best of Italian opera music in the world!”
“And now your Alessandro Quarta, all for you”, Gianluca exclaims. And here is that the violinist has performed some passages, accompanied to the piano by the teacher Giuseppe Magagnino (Salentine pianist of national fame).
Then a moment in which each of the three sang as a soloist, to give a single voice to the different vocality and peculiarities that characterize them: in this sense, interpreting “Almeno tu nell’universo”, the tribute of Ignazio Boschetto to Mia Martini: “I am here to remind you that no one can ever judge us!”
But then also some funny sketches to soften the show:
“A nice thing happened this evening: we went on stage at 10, because at 9:30, ready to get dressed, we realized that Ignazio had forgotten his clothes in the hotel!”
“And what do you want from me?”, said Ignazio. “I proposed to do the concert in underwear, but there was the Curia and nothing could be done about it!” It is still the boys, looking around saying, “But have these gentlemen at the window and on the balconies paid for the ticket?” But how many are you? 150? They come out of the bathroom too! Let me check under the stage!”
To announce the last song, long awaited “Grande Amore”, the song with which they won in Sanremo in 2015, Ignazio recalled: “In the end the dreams are wishes that come true and this year we are celebrating our 10 years of career: the date dates back to April 25, 2009, and from there everything has changed. But it’s all the fault of this song!”
A refined public, who has repeatedly stood up to applaud and which on the final has broken down into masses, abandoning the armchairs to push himself to the foot of the stage, where the three singers have not pulled back in signing their records and gadgets . Of course, there was no lack of controversy over the blocking of an area, for security reasons.
For the rest, enormous enthusiasm for a party and a great celebration of opera, able to bring more and more young people to this musical genre.
Even the adventure PUGLIA has ended, and it seems in the best way.
Wherever they go, these guys leave behind a trail of success and love.
But immediately on the run, next stop ABRUZZO, in the land of Gianluca !!
Immediately after the performance the boys were interviewed by Gordon backstage.
After the pleasantries, Gordon says that it is the first time that IL VOLO has taken part in a RadioItalia concert (in reality, although it is only an Italian radio, it never transmits the songs of IL VOLO and NEVER invited them to their concerts, Daniela).
The boys confirm that they are happy to be there and they say the audience was singing well.
Gordon warns them that in the afternoon, during the rehearsals, there was a live on Facebook, IL VOLOhad the peak of views on Facebook.
The boys are very happy and hope to have had positive comments, and Gordon says they have ONLY had positive comments.
After an exchange of jokes and laughter, Gordon asks what they feel, to bring Italy to a high level, because they are our flag-holders.
Ignazio says that it is not easy, because sometimes there are many prejudices, he says that they do not make a strictly classical genre, but this is what reflects them, that represents them and that is really appreciated by the public all over the world.
Piero says that they must thank the Italians anyway, because even if they are almost 10 years into their career, in Italy they only started to be followed for the last 5 years.
They end up laughing and joking.
But the thing that I personally liked the most was a comment on Paoletta’s Twitter.
Paoletta is a radio speaker, long ago, while on the radio they were broadcasting the song by Nek, she commented that Nek was the moral winner of Sanremo 2015. I was very sad and angry.
Here is his tweet from last night:
#Twitter @Paoletta_F Grande impatto, Piazza Duomo abbraccia @ilvolo. Per me è LA prima volta che li sento live e ho voglia di un concerto! @GianGinoble @IBoschetto @piero_barone #RILIVE @RadioItalia 🔊🗣#IlVolo#IlVoloSicilia grazie per la condivisione
Great impact, Piazza Duomo embraces IL VOLO. For me it’s the first time I hear them live, and I want a concert.
And also this comment on twitter of MUSICA TV OFFICIAL:
Unico grande amore: e piazza Duomo tira fuori la voce! @ilvolo @GianGinoble @IBoschetto @piero_barone #RILIVE @RadioItalia 🇮🇹❤
Unique GRANDE AMORE and Piazza Duomo brings out the voice: IL VOLO.
And finally an article that speaks well of our boys and their performance:
In Piazza Duomo also “L’AMORE SI MUOVE”: only applause for Piero, Ignazio and Gianluca.
It’s time for another first time to RADIO ITALIA LIVE – THE CONCERT: on stage in Piazza Duomo, in Milan, IL VOLO debuts.
The power of the voices of Piero, Ignazio and Gianluca resounds throughout the square: “L’AMORE SI MUOVE” in the audience, right in front of the Milan Cathedral. The trio takes in the applause of the crowd, full of amazement for the three prodigy boys.
“It’s time to sing together”: so IL VOLO anticipates their encore in “GRANDE AMORE”. One by one, the three singers walk the entire catwalk and approach the audience: first Gianluca, then Ignazio and finally Piero. “You are my only big love” is the statement that the trio launches with force and enthusiasm to all the spectators, who return with a full voice singing the piece that, in 2015, had triumphed at the Sanremo Festival.
The phenomenal voices of Piero, Ignazio and Gianluca come together in a shivering finale. Then, the trio intones the refrain again to hear one last time the impressive choir of Piazza Duomo. “Hurray, the music!” Is the cry that closes the show.
What to say, it was simply fantastic, the guys were amazing and people reacted by singing.
The people present, not all fans of the IL VOLO, could hear and appreciate the magnificent voices of the boys.
I feel very proud.
Tell me your thoughts.
