At the Verona concert, I met some friends of Flight Crew, not many this time, because most of them went to the concert in Taormina, how lucky !!
To friends who came to Verona, I asked them to tell me their impressions of the concert, as I did with Kirsten who did a long review that everyone liked.
The others weren’t that lengthy in their comments, so I’ve grouped them all here.
LAURA and UGO = They are Italians, from Trieste, but I met them through the Flight Crew blog that they always read.
I don’t have a photo with them, but here’s their comment:
“They were amazing, beautiful, elegant and talented. You know that we love classical pieces very much and it was very nice to hear LA DONNA È MOBILE and several pieces taken from operas. The voices were top!”
SUSAN and her brother = They had the tickets for June 4th and I for June 3. We couldn’t meet by a whisker, but it’s like I saw them and hugged them.
Here is Susan’s comment:
Hi dear! What a wonderful concert !! I LOVE the song “Hallelujah”.
The concert was truly fantastic. The orchestra was smaller and the guys seemed different…still as wonderful as ever but more mature….more settled in their skin. They seemed more comfortable with themselves.
The difference in them, after two years without live concerts, was unmistakable.
They are professional men at the top of their game! It was wonderful to hear new tweaks on familiar songs and I especially enjoyed the “montages” they did on several songs with a part of a song leading into another. The duet Gianluca did with Ignazio “Hallelujah” was really good. I never cared much for that song but the way the guys sang that song makes me hope they will include it on an album.
The audience was really involved in the concert..singing along to their favorite songs. There were also quite a few people who attended both nights, the guys asked.
A beautiful evening!
Here is a picture I took.
This year, together with my husband and me, my son’s mother-in-law Mariella also came to the concert.
It was the first time he had come to an Il Volo concert and that he entered the Arena. Here she is with me.
And here is her comment.
Hello dear Daniela. Thank you for inviting me to the wonder of the evening at the Verona Arena with the wonderful trio Il Volo, I have never experienced an evening like this !!! In addition to the skill, which I already knew, I discovered their sympathy, which I never would have thought !! I lived almost three hours, and if I remember correctly 27 thrilling songs. For me, it was the first time of their concert, but now I think it is the first of a long series …. Thanks to Il Volo and their organization ….❤❤❤
Here is my video of the concert finale!
Now I want to tell you some gossip about things that happened during the concert.
First of all Torpedine, it was just a few rows in front of me, I managed to take this photo of him.
Unfortunately, I wasn’t at the beginning of the line, so if I wanted to get up and say hello to someone, it meant getting several people up, and I did it once, but I knocked over the bottles of water of the people who were next to me, so, then I never got up to avoid making more disasters.
The concert was starting, the orchestra was already on stage, and 4 people were advancing in front of me and I recognized them immediately.
I took a picture, it’s not very clear so I’ll explain it to you.
Behind the man with the blue shirt, there is Ernesto, Gianluca’s brother, so Rachele, his girlfriend, can be clearly seen, behind her, you can only see the raised arm of Eleonora, Gianluca’s girlfriend, and after her, Eleonora, Gianluca’s mother.
Without being too conspicuous, they sat two rows in front of me, and never moved from their position.
While Gianluca was singing and descending into the audience, he passed behind them and bent down to give a light kiss to his brother, his girlfriend and his mother.
Everything was done very delicately and without giving too much emphasis. When the concert ended, immediately after the confetti was thrown into the air, I realized that the four of them had already gone out, without being noticed, they were gone, they took advantage of the final moment of distraction to go out.
The same scene was repeated the following evening, but perhaps Gianluca and Eleonora took more courage and Gianluca exposed his love for Eleonora more to the audience.❤❤
I find them adorable !! 😘❤😘
Another nice thing that made me laugh a lot was another thing that happened at the second concert.
During one of the dialogues between the boys, Ignazio teases Gianluca, imitating the expression on the face that Gianluca makes while singing. Laugh watching this video, while Gianluca sings Il Mondo and Ignazio moves his face and mouth.
Some of you have asked for Maestro Grani, he is a good pianist, but also a good conductor, usually abroad he directs the orchestras, but above all he is a great friend of Ignazio, Gianluca and Piero. He always helps them and keeps their voices trained throughout the tour.
I got to know him in Florence during Notte Magica. I was wearing the Il Volo shirt, which he immediately noticed, he said words of great esteem for the boys. We took a picture together.
These are the words and the photo he posted immediately after the concert in Verona, on his Facebook:
È iniziata alla grande !! It got off to a great start !!
Bruno Farinelli, the drummer, is also part of the band. I interviewed him (search for the post named INTERVIEW WITH THE DRUMMER OF IL VOLO) and he had very nice words of esteem for Piero, Ignazio and Gianluca.
Here is his comment and his photo posted on Facebook after the concert.
The two concerts at the Verona Arena with IL VOLO were, as always, a unique emotion !!
A special thanks goes to all the staff, the orchestra, the band and the artists who have been and are simply magnificent !! ❤️
However, I believe that the biggest thanks goes to the 20,000 wonderful fans of IL VOLO, who filled the Arena with love for two days !!! ❤️❤️
Now I want to tell you about a fortunate situation.
After the concert in Verona, on my way home, I read the various comments on the concert on Facebook and I saw the comment of a person who is my friend and who lives near my town, Donatella.
I immediately got in touch with her and asked her if she was at the concert and she replied that she was there with her husband, Maurizio whom I know very well.
She told me that their children had given them concert tickets for Christmas and it was the first time they had come to hear Il Volo in concert and they were thrilled.
What few people know is that after the second concert in Verona, therefore on Sunday 5th, Gianluca and Piero went to Gardaland.
Gardaland is Italian Disneyland, it is the most beautiful amusement park in Italy, and is located near Verona and also in Brescia.
Also Donatella and Maurizio, on Sunday decided to go to Gardaland and you guess with great surprise who they found ????
Gianluca, Piero and Barbara!
I saw the photos posted on Facebook and the comment below says so:
“When you decide to go to Gardaland, and meet Il Volo, a welcome meeting.”
I immediately called Donatella and asked her to tell me about her experience, here are her words:
It was a stroke of luck, because we usually enter Gardaland from the main entrance, but this time we parked where the buses are and entered from the side. We saw them right away and I said to my husband: “Look, Maurizio, are those the guys from Il Volo?”
The guys heard her question and answered, “Yes, it’s us!”
I asked them if we could take a picture and they immediately said yes.
Look Daniela, I didn’t think they were like that. I was really surprised, it seemed to be talking to our children, they were very kind.
Piero told Gianluca: “See he (Maurizio) will ride a roller coaster and she will follow him out of love, I’m sure it is.”
They told us that Gianluca had already been to Gardaland years ago, but he was very young, while Piero had never been there.
They asked Maurizio: “But if you go on a roller coaster, do you go in front or behind?” And he replied “I’m going in front.”
I was stunned, I didn’t think they were so humble, you know, the notoriety, I thought they pulled a little, instead nothing. We were really delighted to have met them.
Wow, what luck Donatella !!!
I’m so happy for you !!
I hope you liked these last things about the Verona concert, now the tour has continued and therefore we will soon talk about Taormina !!!
Plus, coming soon, there are two short translations in TV shows where IL VOLO has participated in !!
Today I am not giving you any translations, but I want to tell you about a beautiful event in which, until the end, I did not know I could participate.
I’m talking about the copy-signing of Il Volo in Milan. The event took place on November 30th at 5:00 pm.
In the morning I woke up and immediately saw a beautiful day with lots of sun, cold, but clear.
My husband and I are the grandparents of two beautiful little girls and usually after school they two spend the afternoons with us waiting for their parents.
But my son informed me on the morning of the 30th, that he had the afternoon off, so I said to my husband: “Let’s go to Milan,” and I immediately booked the train tickets.
Here we are on the train at 2:30 pm.
We should arrive at Milano Centrale (Milan station) almost an hour and a half before the event, so we have plenty of time to take the subway to get to Piazza Duomo.
Going up from the underground subway, the view of the Duomo of Milan is always of great effect, there it is, imposing and beautiful, with its tall spires that stand out against the blue sky, magnificent.
In a moment we are at the “Galleria Duomo”, the beautiful and elegant gallery full of famous shops and already decorated for the Christmas holidays. The Feltrinelli bookshop, where the event takes place is right here under the “Galleria Duomo”, here I am.
In order to enter the bookstore, we must show our green passes (certification of having received the double anti-Covid vaccination), we must also wear the masks , then we can buy our CD, mandatory phase, to be able to access the signing event in which only one person can participate.
The area for the signing is ready, at the back of the library, there is a poster with the image of the Il Volo CD hanging, and there is a small table with three chairs for our young men.
Soon a queue of waiting people forms and then we get in line too.
This photo was published from the page of Il Volo and to our great surprise, in the first photo there is also me and my husband!! (lower right corner)
In the queue I see some friends, with whom we meet at every event related to Il Volo, and whom I always see with joy.
Meanwhile, time passes and Piero and Ignazio arrive but they go to a separate room, they await the arrival of Gianluca who is late, and when he arrives too, here they are all three taking their positions.
The environment is very relaxed, the people in the queue are polite, the security is very kind, they let us take pictures while we wait (the other times we couldn’t).
The boys are in excellent shape, Ignazio hums a song in a low voice, while he waits to sign, Piero smiles, Gianluca is the most serious. All three wear masks, which they will then take off when they start signing.
We who are in line are forbidden to take off our masks. Before reaching the boys , they make us sanitize our hands, however we cannot hug them, kiss them or touch them. We fans have to stand in front of their table, where they will sign. A girl in charge will take the photo using our personal mobile phone, so the photos will be ours immediately.
Everything goes very well, every fan stops to have a chat with Piero, Ignazio and Gianluca and they listen us available and interested.
Here are the photos I was able to take.
(please click on an individual photo to enlarge it)
I’m excited! Now, it’s my turn!
I manage to have a chat with them, first of all I congratulate them on their CD, then I tell them that in June in Verona it was a fantastic concert, so I bring them all the greetings from Flight Crew and every one of their the American friends, they smile and thank me.
I bring Gianluca a hug from grandmother Maura.
Piero, Ignazio and Gianluca listened to me with attention and interest.
It was exciting to have them so close, but it was not possible to hug them when I wanted so much.
The security signals me that they are about to take the photos so I turn around, then I said goodbye to the our young men and leave.
It was short, but intense, it was worth going to, seeing them so close and relaxed is nice.
It is a completely free event, organized by the bookshop, as long as you buy a CD. I had already bought the CD in Brescia, thinking that this year, due to the infection, perhaps they would not have done the event. I bought another CD, but I also brought the one I bought in Brescia with me and had them both signed.
I greeted the friends still in the queue, promising to meet us at the next event and then, off to a run to take the train back.
It was now dark and the “Gallery” had beautiful colors.
I took a beautiful photo of the illuminated Duomo in the cold late November evening.
Unfortunately the photo did not turn out well, but I assure you that the vision was exactly like this.
Even though my husband and I ran, we missed the scheduled train and had to wait for the next train that passed an hour later. Patience.
It was a beautiful day, I saw my beloved boys up close, I exchanged a few words with them, I have two signed CDs, it was a great adventure and I thank my husband who always supports me in these little madnesses of mine !!
These photos on the other hand, were published by the photographer of Il Volo.
The day after, the event was repeated in Rome, at the Laziale Discotheque.
Here is the photo of Nonna Maura present at the event.
And here’s another good call, this time between Gianluca and Francesco Renga, which I translate for you.
Gianluca starts immediately with a joyful phrase: “How beautiful we are !!” and Renga replies laughing, “Hi Gianluca, how are you.”
After the first greetings, Renga says he is making a red wine aperitif.
Gianluca explains that Il Volo returned from California on March 13 and have canceled the last concerts. They took the last Alitalia flight and the whole crew, about 20 people, fortunately they are all well.
Renga asks Gianluca if he is at his home and Gian confirms that he is in Montepagano and shows a view of the panorama from his home (very nice indeed).
Even Renga shows the view from his house and this is very nice too, in fact both claim that they are really lucky. (I remind everyone that Renga is from Brescia, my city. What you see above the hill in front of Renga is Brescia Castle, this means that to have this view, Renga lives on Monte Maddalena, a small mountain, from which dominates all of Brescia from above.)
At this point they talk about future concerts and Renga asks Gian if he has heard that they will be able to return to concerts in a year.
Gianluca states, and says that he also heard Ferdi (Ferdinando Salzano, organizer of the concerts of many artists : F&P group).
Gianluca agrees that it will be very hard to resume for their singers, because restaurants or large companies, all have been affected, but in the field of music it is more difficult, (he is speaking for concerts) especially for fans, who are waiting impatiently, the dates of the concerts, to see them live.
Gian says fans will have to wait a long time and Renga replies that the solution could change if a vaccine is found, but certainly a year goes by. Gian confirms that he has read that it will easily return to normal life in March.
In this photo, the wedding of Salzano, where many singers were invited. In the smaller photo is Gianluca with Renga.
Renga asks Gian with whom he is at home and he replies that he is with his brother Ernesto.
Gian remembers that a couple of days ago their 2015 concert was broadcast by RAI1, where they sang L’IMMENSITÀ(together Il Volo and Renga), and he also remembers that it is thanks to his brother Ernesto, (admirer of Renga) that IL VOLO sang L’AMORE SI MUOVE.
In fact, Gian remembers a fact that was also explained during the 2015 concert, that Il Volo was looking for a good song to make a new single and Ernesto told them to listen to the song IN MOME DEL PADRE (In the Name of the Father) that Renga had written for the birth of his son. Il Volo liked the song very much, so Gian called Renga and asked him to vary the words and make a version for them.
Renga found the right words and was born, L’AMORE SI MUOVE, and he says it is so beautiful that it is better than the original.
Gian instead says that the original is beautiful and also has an emotional value.
Renga goes on to say that he sees Gianluca is in excellent shape and Gian replies that he has a small room used as a gym and does training. Renga says that he also has a small gym at home, but it is one thing to have it, another is to use it! 😁.
He admits to being very lazy. Both agree that if you have a goal, like a Sanremo festival, you have been training for a few months before to be fit, otherwise it is easier to lie on the sofa.
At this point Gian tells Renga that he wants to pay him a tribute.
Gian says he grew up with Renga’s music, and Renga claims that this makes him feel much younger thank you ….😁😁 (of course it’s the reverse.)
Gian sits on the piano and plays a part of one of the favorite songs written by Renga (he is really a good songwriter):
DIMMI SE TU CI SARAI(Tell Me if You Will Be There).
Like a photograph With uncertain outlines And this life My I find it in a drawer And then every day Inside your eyes If you want talk to me of how luck waits And hold me in your arms for a while longer Tell me you’ll be there When the weather is on us It will have by now, imprinted Signs you don’t want Tell me you’ll be there When melancholy He will dress the memories Of my life
Renga sends him a kiss, says it‘s fantastic, and that made him goosebumps and thanks Gian so much.
Affectionate greetings between both.
Renga says that Gianluca is an incredible person.
Gianluca I must say that you improve more and more on the piano.
Of Renga I can only say positive things, he is a beautiful person, an excellent songwriter, his songs always have very sweet words.
He admires Il Volo and the boys reciprocate him with affection.
Hopefully there will be more Renga songs written for them.
PS = For those who want to try singing the song with Gianluca, I also publish the verses in Italian.
I found this post that I had misfiled. Daniela sent it to me a few months ago after Jane and I were privileged to meet her and Beppe in Brescia, Italy. It’s very sweet. ~Marie
And finally the day of our meeting arrived.
How granted my husband and I waited on the platform of the train from Milan. I explained in broad outline your appearance to my husband, one looked to one side and the other from the opposite one. The train arrived, many people came down and was waiting for a lot of climbing, there was confusion and then in the distance I saw you, I said,“there they are, they are” and yelled“Marie, Jane, waving his hand,” you have me seen and smile, a long embrace, as if we had known for years, a few words in my broken English and we immediately understand.
As well as the voices of our beloved boys of IL VOLO create harmonies, even among the three of us has created an atmosphere at once beautiful, even my husband who was afraid of being a perfect excluded, was immediately engaged by your sympathy and kindness. Let me tell members of the crew that Marie and Jane are really two special people, courageous and likable.
I must tell you it was a sight to see as there was fascinated to see the remains of Roman Brescia, the ancient old buildings of rich history, Piazza Loggia, Piazza Duomo, Capitolium and Brescia Castle.
For all lovers of Ignatius, Marie said that Brescia Castle will be their home when they marry (understood Jana, Loretta etc.) But also promised me that the wedding dress will buy it from me.
The day was wonderful there was a beautiful sun and a blue sky, we could not expect better and between a chat and the other was lunch time. We arrived at my house, dinner was ready, and as we ate we enjoyed the beautiful concert of Florence. Marie who barely restrained emotion. Time was flying fast when things are so pleasant time passes in a moment.
There we would never be known, but the love for Piero Ignazio and Gianluca brought us together. IL VOLO has built a bridge of friendship and we have traveled to get to know, to exchange our affection. Thanks Marie and Jane for coming up here. Thank you guys for giving us the opportunity to meet. We still have a lot to talk about and maybe there will be more time for they can be exchanged right Marie and Jane?
A warm hug from Italy and many kisses from your friend Daniela
LITTLE DID WE KNOW WE HAD SAVED THE BEST FOR LAST…
One of the main goals of our adventure had been to immerse ourselves inItalian culture and people. We did this by venturing into and staying right in the smaller villages and towns to really see andfeelhow Italians live. We took a train one hour east of Milan to join up with Daniela from the Flight Crew web site. There at the train station were Daniela and her wonderful Sicilian husband, Beppe, waiting for us with open arms. We knew immediately that this would be one very special day from the genuine warmth we felt upon this first meeting. Out came the translator technology. Danielaoutshined us all by speaking very good English by the end of the day!
Daniela and Beppe
They took us on a walking tourof beautiful piazzas, city streets, a magnificent old cathedral, ancient statues that possessed beauty hard to describe, the ancient ruins discovered when excavating a hillside for new construction and the castle that over looks the entire city. We were truly in aweas we admired the beauty of this town Daniela and Beppe are proudto call home.
View from the castle
Daniela then informed us we weregoing to their homefor lasagna. When we got in the car she put her Notte Magica CD in and turned on Ave Maria MaterMisericordiae. Much to our delight she turned it upreal loud!It was awesome to see Beppe is just as much of an Il Volo fan as Daniela! So there we are riding along the streets of this beautiful Italian town with our new Italian friends, mesmerized by the music filling the air we breathed. It was close to an out of body experience for the both of us! What could make this any better you ask?
We arrived at their lovely home and were given a tour. Then we settled in to the kitchen for quite afeast! Beppe started awarm fire in the fireplace (in the kitchen) and put the Notte Magica DVD on for us to watch the concert while we feasted Italian style. Wine, bread, mouth watering marinated artichokes, olives and thin sliced salami was the first course. Then came delicious lasagna bolognese. Next were tasty ribs and french fries. Then came grapes and fresh sliced pineapple. Then cheeses were offered. Then came a wonderful cake her daughter had made for us. This was then topped off with Italian coffee. We ate until we were wonderfully full. We were truly in seventh heaven!
Table all set for company
Mouth watering lasagna!
In the comfort of an Italian home
Our day didn’t come to an end before giving us each gifts of Italian espresso coffee makers and good Italian coffee, then taking us to a beautiful, peaceful lake out in the country where people were feeding swans and ducks and walking around enjoying the area. We bid them good bye at the train station and headed back to Milan. We will never forget the warmth, kindness and genuine hospitalityshown to us that day. They are what Italy isallabout. We have learned through Gianluca, Piero and Ignazio, the amazing love and affectionItalians have for others. We have felt the beauty of this first hand upon meeting Daniela and Beppe. Little did we know we had savedthebest for last…Daniela and Beppe, Grazie dal profondo del nostro cuore.
Three friends forever
Come in and share the love of life, friends and Il Volo!
