West Side Story by Daniela

West Side Story

A few days ago, this article appeared in the FLORIDA TODAY newspaper.

Florida Today Story – Click Here

Really great news, there will be a casting for the remake of WEST SIDE STORY.

The casting will be for the characters of Maria, Bernardo, Tony and Riff.

Of course, we do not think about Mary, but there are three male characters, who must be between the ages of 15 and 25.

Moreover Bernardo must have Latin features, Tony and Riff, instead, Caucasians.

They will have to know how to sing and dance very well.

IL VOLO has sung several times the spiffy songs of West Side Story.

Here are some interpretations.

Ok, let’s have a little fun, in which part would you have seen, one, or all three of our boys: Piero, Ignazio and Gianluca?

I believe that for the songs, none of the three would have problems, but for the dance, I have many doubts!

Tell me your preferences!

Wind Music Awards 2018 by Daniela

Of course you all knew the news:

IL VOLO will be present at the Wind Music Awards 2018.

WMA June 5

The event will take place on June 5th at the Verona Arena, which on its historic stage will resound the notes of the greatest hits of recent months with the performance of the stars of Italian and international music. There will be many guests, and like all, even IL VOLO, will perform a single song.

The question arises: What song will they sing ?????

Since the WMA audience is essentially a young audience, that wants to move and dance, I hope that for that date, the new single has been published.

I think that making the new music would make us feel, in an evening like this, over the top. Moreover the boys have warned us several times that with that Latin rhythm, they will make us “dance.”

So, I hope we will all be ready to dance with them!

~The Road of a Success~ by Daniela

This post is dedicated to all those who have not followed IL VOLO from the beginning (including me), but certainly will be a welcome review for those, however, followed  Piero, Ignazio and Gianluca since 2009.

Mamma Mia!!! They were really small, almost do not know each other, how much sweetness, three children.

In this video we are in December 2010, a Sunday television program called “Domenica In”.

I had never really seen this, a participation in the PEQUENOS GIGANTES program, in Mexico.

Really sweet with these little children.

Same year 2011 but Italy, still guests at “DOMENICA IN”, tribute to Ennio Morricone.

Year 2012, our little treasures, are growing, notable transformation of Ignazio.

Here they are in Pietralcina, at the charity event UNA VOCE PER PADRE PIO.

Same year 2012 still a charity event, this time in France: TELETHON.

image

Year 2013, for the 40th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards.

Year 2014 in Moscow, in concert with Toto Cutugno.

image

Same year 2014 Arena di Verona, in duet with Anastacia.

We have reached the year 2015, Sanremo and the victory, and immediately after the Italian tour. This video was filmed in Naples during the rehearsals of the concert in Piazza Plebiscito. Impressive to see the people present at the rehearsals and who will remain until evening under a scorching sun.

The boys almost can not try, but the affection of the public is really beautiful,an incredible chorus of voices.

Of course they have come a long way in singing, in life and in our hearts!

~Grande Amore – A Very Beautiful Song ~ by Daniela

Often a song that wins the Sanremo festival, gets a good publicity and also the direct passage to the Eurovision.

It is not said that a song has the same favorable feedback with the public because sometimes a winning song does not get a follow-up with the public, or after a short time it can also be forgotten.

This is certainly not the case of GRANDE AMORE.

Since the first execution it has achieved great public success.

Are not served, the many radio passages to accustom people to the musical motif.

This song has immediately entered the head but even before in the hearts of the people and has spread everywhere, in the world.

This song was liked  so much that it was sung in many languages, as this video demonstrates.

Add to the series also this little girl of Moroccan origins OIUAM participant in Sanremo young.

Also, as we have seen, this song has also been used for sports   competitions, such as figure skating or rhythmic gymnastics.

So many times IL VOLO has been accused of making “cover” of songs, now it is the other singers who make “cover” of Grande Amore.

Also in the Rock version.

Did you know that GRANDE AMORE was not to be sung by IL VOLO but by a male and female duo called Opera Pop?

Due to the age overcoming by the male, they could not participate in Sanremo and so the song, thanks also to Carlo Conti, was proposed to IL VOLO.

Here are the Pop Opera in their version, do you think they would have won Sanremo all the same? I believe, NO.

Ok, I do not know if you have had the courage to watch all these videos of the same song repeated so many times, and I have to tell you that I could go on forever, but the message is that GRANDE AMORE is a beautiful song.

But let’s enjoy it one last time from our wonderful guys.

Eurovision 2015 version.

Personally Speaking~Though you are grown…

Though You Are Grown

I remember years ago,
you were so young then.
Sometimes,
I can’t help but wish,
that you were small again.
I’ve ached when you’ve faced heartaches,
and saw, that as you grew,
nothing broke your Spirit,
instead it strengthened you.
I’m filled with mixed emotions,
as I hold back all the tears
and, with much pride remember,
back so many years.
When I first saw you
if only I’d have known,
the years would feel like moments,
after you had grown.
You aren’t a child,
though in my eyes,
I guess you’ll always be,
that young boy who changed my life,
and means the world to me.

I stumbled across this touching poem that made me think of watching Ignazio, Piero and Gianluca growing up before our very eyes, and of us, their devoted fans.  So many of us have said how finding Il Volo has changed our lives for the better.  Deepening our love of  bel canto,  discovering new friendships, traveling adventures to concerts and for some, to their beautiful Italy, and being witness to three genuine young men who are making the world a better place just by being themselves, have been but a few of the joys these boys have given us.

I wish someone had documented on film little Gianluca standing in the town square singing at the age of 3.  Or the first time Piero’s Nonno heard him sing and asked who that was?  Or  Ignazio banging away on his drums in his bedroom at a tender young age.

I love going back and looking at footage of our boys at young ages as their talents were beginning to be recognized.  Daniela sent me this first video of Ignazio , back in 2007, performing at Marsala Impero Theater in a re-adaptation of Gen Rosso’s musical, STREETLIGHT.  I found the second video filmed during the same performance.  Ignazio knew his way around the spot light way back then.  This boy was meant to be on a stage!

The next video is of Piero singing with Nonno Pietro in what looks like the town piazza.  Note how Piero is directing the children’s choir right behind him.  How adorable!

And finally we have Gianluca with his younger version of Il Mare Calmo Della Sera.  His voice was so strong and powerful way back then.  Note the sweet quick smile he breaks into when the audience applauds.  I remember in an interview with his parents they stated he was so shy when he was young, he would look upwards the entire song or turn and face the wall, so as not to have to look at people while he sang.  Here he actually sneaks a few glances at the camera.

Yes, Gianluca, Piero and Ignazio…you will always be…the young boys who changed our lives and mean the world to us.
