And this is the moment when the boys, at the end of the concert in Croatia, have become aware of their presence in Sanremo.
P = Hello everyone, we just finished a concert and we wanted to give you great news.
I = We have just learned that we too will be in Sanremo this year.
G = It will be the best way to celebrate our 10 years of career, returning to sing just in Sanremo, in the stage that saw us born.
P = Hello Claudio, see you in Sanremo.
You got it, right??
Il Volo will be back in Sanremo, but not as guests, as COMPETITORS, they will do the whole race, will suffer criticism, the votes from home and jurors, in short, a real race like almost 4 years ago.
My God, what have these 3 guys thought about doing?
If the result is not positive, they will be very criticized …. but they are already very used to this thing.
We have to say that they deserve all our esteem, just because they will redo the whole race. They could avoid, because they are already famous, and certainly it is much more comfortable being in cotton ……. but NO, they love the risk and we, volovers of the whole world, we must give them all our support.
They will be hard days, exciting, tense, but if they succeed in repeating the success, they would open the streets again for Eurovision.
If you are worried, because participating in Sanremo would mean that they will not make the US tour, my opinion is that you can rest assured, Sanremo will be from 5 to 9 February and Torpedine said the tour will start at Radio City Music Hall in March. I do not think the program will change.
Their song will surely be a pop-opera song, the title MUSICA CHE RESTA means “A music that remains” that you will not forget!
And we hope it’s really like that, I wish them with all my heart.
Good luck, guys, you deserve all the possible success!
The Eurovision Song Contest took place on May 12th. It had beautiful singing performances from all over Europe and beyond.
To us lovers of IL VOLO, the Eurovision brings to mind memories that couldn’t be much nicer.
Published by OGAE ITALY, is a beautiful article that talks about Eurovision, it is very interesting and I will translate it for you.
The televoting: power to the people!
Just a few hours before the end of the 2018 edition, let’s take a brief analysis of the voting system currently in force and the results obtained.
Since 2009 the final result of the Eurovision Song Contest is formed by 50% of the votes of the expert juries and the remaining 50% of televoting votes.
The juries have always played a primary role since the first edition of 1956. But times change and even Eurovision needs to make the public interact from home, thanks to the televoting.
It was 1998, although a first trial with only five countries was successfully completed in 1997. With the increase of the countries in the competition are introduced semi-finals but we realize that to pass the turn are always the same countries, the strongest on televoting thanks to the various diasporas around Europe and neighboring countries that they vote among themselves because of the various cultural affinities.
As a result, in 2009 there is a fair compromise and it is decided to entrust the verdict to 50% + 50% between juries and televoting.
Everything runs smoothly and many countries are finally able to access the long-awaited final even if only in alternate years. Obviously a lot also depends on the quality of the song presented.
But with the passage of time the juries learn to do the good and the bad. As in any self-respecting jury, the jurors can decide which country to push to the top and which to go down to the last so as not to assign the fateful 12 points and other points available for the top 10.
Some countries are favored on the eve of the festival and some are sunk by the various European jurors because they do not fall into their tastes or simply because of favoring their favorite.
Every year the same Hamletic doubt: yes or jury no? Impossible to say …
We have fun pretending that the result from 2009 is still that of televoting as the prevailing method. We note however that it would not have changed much except in two editions: that of 2015 and that of 2016.
And it is precisely that of 2015 that interests us more because just the Italy represented by IL VOLO with “GRANDE AMORE”, third classified, wins televoting! Oh yes, that’s right! Italy would have added a gold medal in its trophies of Eurovision victories. Obviously it is not a great consolation but it is Italy in 2015 to have the highest percentage of votes received from a country in contention since the voting system exists with televoting.
In 2016 the Russian Sergey Lazarev would have won the televoting role, but only sixth for the juries. Also for him a good third overall place and the winner Jamala who wins the crystal microphone for Ukraine.
Below is the top 10 of the most televised countries since televoting was introduced.
1 Italy 2015: “GRANDE AMORE” IL VOLO 78.21% (366 out of 468 available)
2 Norway 2009: Alexander Rybak “Fairytale” 76.83% (378 out of 492 available)
3 Portugal 2017: Salvador Sobral “Amar pelos dois” 76.42% (376 of 492 available)
4 Estonia 2001: Tanel Padar & Dave Benton “Everybody” 75.00% (198 of 264 available)
5 Russia 2016: Sergey Lazarev “You are my only one” 73.37% (361 of 492 available)
6 Austria 2014: Conchita Wurst “Rise like a phoenix” 71.99% (311 out of 432 available)
7 Denmark 2000: The Olsen Brothers “Fly on the wings of love” 70.65% (195 of 276 available)
8 Sweden 2012: Loreen “Euphoria” 69.72% (343 of 492 available)
9 Bulgaria 2017: Kristian Kostov “Beautiful mess” 68.50% (337 of 492 available)
10 Russia 2012: Buranovskiye Babushki “Party for everybody” 67.48% (332 of 492 available)
In fact, the average of televotes on the result that would have decided the winner of IL VOLO is 15.78%. In second place we find the Norwegian winner Alexander Rybak (also competing this year in Lisbon) with 15.52% while the third is the last winner in 2017, the Portuguese Salvador Sobral, with 15.44.
And the juries? What would they do? Even here our regret is called Raphael Gualazzi and the year is 2011. In fact in the year of our return, the juries reward us with an excellent first place that then earned a second overall behind Azerbaijan. Nothing changes until 2016 when Australia with Dami Im wins the jury’s preferences but she has to settle for second place in favor of Ukraine.
Often a song that wins the Sanremo festival, gets a good publicity and also the direct passage to the Eurovision.
It is not said that a song has the same favorable feedback with the public because sometimes a winning song does not get a follow-up with the public, or after a short time it can also be forgotten.
This is certainly not the case of GRANDE AMORE.
Since the first execution it has achieved great public success.
Are not served, the many radio passages to accustom people to the musical motif.
This song has immediately entered the head but even before in the hearts of the people and has spread everywhere, in the world.
This song was liked so much that it was sung in many languages, as this video demonstrates.
Add to the series also this little girl of Moroccan origins OIUAM participant in Sanremo young.
Also, as we have seen, this song has also been used for sports competitions, such as figure skating or rhythmic gymnastics.
So many times IL VOLO has been accused of making “cover” of songs, now it is the other singers who make “cover” of Grande Amore.
Also in the Rock version.
Did you know that GRANDE AMORE was not to be sung by IL VOLO but by a male and female duo called Opera Pop?
Due to the age overcoming by the male, they could not participate in Sanremo and so the song, thanks also to Carlo Conti, was proposed to IL VOLO.
Here are the Pop Opera in their version, do you think they would have won Sanremo all the same? I believe, NO.
Ok, I do not know if you have had the courage to watch all these videos of the same song repeated so many times, and I have to tell you that I could go on forever, but the message is that GRANDE AMORE is a beautiful song.
But let’s enjoy it one last time from our wonderful guys.
(Ciao a Tutti! – Sanremo is being televised on RAI! If you get the channel on your cable, you should be able to record, or at least watch it! I am recording all the days from Tuesday to Saturday!)
HEAR, HEAR, is official, IL VOLO will be in Sanremo.
We all hoped that sooner or later was given this wonderful news, and now it is a reality. Wednesday, February 7, Piero, Ignazio and Gianluca, will return on stage of the Ariston after three years from their beautiful and unforgettable victory.
What will they sing? We do not know, but we all know that we will be tuned that night on that program and that our hearts will beat in unison with the hearts of the boys.
Here is the article published in the newspaper Sorrisi e Canzoni:
Unlike previous editions, Baglioni has decided to maintain a greater reserve on its guests (and on which evenings they will perform) and has set a rule for foreigners: they must perform with a tribute to Italy. It will be in fact what they will do Sting (accompanied by Shaggy ) and James Taylor .
As announced by Sorrisi for several weeks, this year they will return to Sanremo, as super guests, the guys from Il Volo who will perform on Wednesday evening.
Among the other Italian stars, however, the presence of Laura Pausini is certain , which on Tuesday evening will celebrate the 25th anniversary of “La solitudine”. On the stage will also go up Biagio Antonacci , Gianni Morandi , Gianna Nannini , the Negramaro, Giorgia and the trio formed by Max Pezzali, Nek and Francesco Renga . Gino Paoli and Danilo Rea will also be at the Festival with the song “Il nostro concerto”, in homage to Umberto Bindi.
Also confirmed during the early evening was the cast of “A casa tutti bene” , a film by Gabriele Muccino in which Pierfrancesco Favino also plays: Stefania Sandrelli, Sabrina Impacciatore, Stefano Accorsi, Valeria Solarino, Massimo Ghini, Carolina Crescentini, Claudia Gerini, Elena Cucci, Giulia Michelini, Gian Marco Tognazzi, Ivano Marescotti and Giampaolo Morelli.
There will certainly be Antonella Clerici , who after the Festival will present the show “Sanremo young”.
And here’s how Valeria Bosch has interpreted the thought of all of us.
Here they are, finally, gathered in Bologna. Today I understood one thing: it is more than fair that they have their times and their spaces in which to live and relax each on their own, but what do you want I tell you, being a fan also means being jealous and possessive. I prefer them so when I see all 3 together, I feel calmer, more “guaranteed” that everything goes well, that the guys work together, that their “wonderful adventure” continues. Now we are anxiously waiting for them to participate in Sanremo. For us volovers the Festival is all contained there, in those few minutes in which we will be allowed to enjoy their art, their song, their emotion. We do not know what they will choose to sing, nor what the comments will be in the press. We are sure of one thing: when they are on stage they will be accompanied by thousands of hearts, scattered throughout Italy and the world, who will fight in unison with them and the applause thunderous and enthusiastic of who will be present in the theater. The public admires them, wants them, loves them, as demonstrated by the tour that last year saw them triumph under all the skies of the planet.

Video of the first evening in Sanremo back in 2015
when they won!
With the confidence to be able to review our favorites singing again on the stage of Sanremo, the first interviews begin. From today will be a whirlwind of news and video, a real feast, true binge for us fans that we never have enough to see them and hear them.
The transmission where they were interviewed is called Italian Saturday.
IS = The boys IL VOLO, the delirium in the studio.
A = Gianluca, Piero and Ignazio are back here. Three years have passed since Grande Amore, from that great success, from the victory, and we can officially announce Piero, we announce him: Super-guests.
P = (joking) We will not be guests in Sanremo
A = You passed by chance here !!
I = We will sing next Monday, when it will all be over. (Ignazio jokes)
G = We are serious, do the serious! We can not say anything, but it is a great honor for us to come back here after three years. We are born we can say on this stage that really gave us so many emotions and we will sing really, really beautiful songs, but we can not tell you anything.
A = Guys, instead I wanted to ask Ignazio, this meeting with Claudio Baglioni, as he called you, did you expect this invitation?
I = Surely it was a pleasure to receive an invitation from Baglioni. We met Claudio the first time eight or nine years ago, so we were still small. Surely Claudio has done and continues to make a great piece of history in Italian music (Baglioni is a highly respected songwriter), so to be with him in this Sanremo is to share an important moment in Italian music.
A = The favorite piece of Baglioni, each of you has one?
I = (humming) Sabato pomeriggio (beautiful song by Baglioni)
P = Piccolo Grande Amore (another beautiful song by Baglioni), we have taken Piccolo and left Grande Amore.
A = E that Grande Amore you left guys.
I can ask you a question, you went along the course to see the plate where it says 2015 Il Volo Grande Amore?
P = No, never.
I = I was going but then I did not get there.
E = Tell me your emotion to return to the Sanremo stage. after your victory, surely I imagine that it is unique.
P = It is the Italian event most awaited by everyone, and I do not hide that when we are abroad we miss not seeing the Sanremo Festival. Returning as super-guests is a great emotion. There is a lot of tension to participate as competitors but as super-guests is a different emotion but, anyway, a lot.
I = We can say that this year we are here too.
A = And you are super-guests, so we make the announcement to all the fans and the volovers, right?
G = Yes, and an equally important announcement is that we are working on new music that will soon be released. It will be a surprise for everyone. We can not tell you anything else, because it is particular.
E = Listen, here we have Zanicchi (good Italian singer), who has won three of the Sanremo festival.
Z = Hello, I risk saying banalities, good luck, you are very good, they all love you.
E = They are also considered the ambassadors of the bel canto all over the world. You tour the world practically. Where have you been, the last time? Tell us a little where you went. Let us enter into your life.
I = As Gianluca said, we are preparing this new project that will be released very soon, we have been in Miami to record it, we will soon be back to record the music video.
G = We can say that we are working with the great Emilio Esteffan, with Gloria Esteffan. You will remember the song Conga? There will be many surprises.
A = Boys should go ….
G = (addressed to Zanicchi) We have never met …
Z = Why not, we met on the scale a few years ago all’Ariston, do you remember? No, you mistook me for another one.
G = I made a bad impression I apologize in front of everyone (everyone laughs)
Z = Good luck guys
G = We hope to see everyone soon, see you here, kisses, kisses.
E = Good, good, you can not say much about what they do, you can imagine. Hi guys, but one of you three found his girlfriend around the world? No girlfriends here!

In case there are some of you out there who don’t know what Carpool Karaoke is all about (like I didn’t before I did this post) here is a brief idea of this newest viral hit sensation.
James Corden, a British comedian and host of “The Late Late Show” says he always thought there was somethingvery joyful about someone very, very famous singing their songs in an ordinary situation. He states,” you’re dealing with famous people who, for a very long time, have never really been on their own. They’re very successful people who come with necessary teams ofpeople. We shoot (film) them for about 40 minutes and they’re completely on their own: It’s me and them and fixed cameras and that’s it. I think they find that very liberating and there’s a joy in that.”
James has a regular segment on his show that showcases this. It seems Apple Music and other countries are now picking up on it. In Italy, Jake the Fury, an Italian Rapper, DJ and producer, now hosts the Italian version where we see IL VOLO as his guests.
Thank you Penina, for sending us this gem! The video speaks for itself. Fun, Fun, Fun!
Nothing like letting loose as if NO camera were there. I could sit and watch them drive all over Italy doing this. And to quote Penina, “Ignazio is BEYOND adorable in this video.” This video is 17 minutes of pure Il Volo bliss! Enjoy.
The video that will not show had English subtitles. Try this one instead. It’s in Italian, but you will still enjoy!
