IL VOLO IN ASTI CONCERT by Daniela

The first of five summer concerts this year in Italy has begun, in Asti.

In these days, several journalistic articles have announced the arrival of the boys, presenting them as true stars, they had never been in concert at Asti.

Let’s start with the soundcheck.

And here they are, ready to start, beautiful and elegant.

Thus the “Volomania” infects all the public in Piazza Cattedrale. Accompanied by the Symphonic Orchestra of Asti, the three tenors of Il Volo and their repertoire of “Magic Night: A Tribute to Three Tenors” – a tribute to Luciano Pavarotti, Placido Domingo and Josè Carreras.

The program seems to repeat the program of NOTTE MAGICA of Florence.

Directed by the master Marcello Rota.

Some amateur videos have arrived, the first one, which is out on stage, of the boys, has no audio. The others yes, we listen to some songs.

But they also sang IL MONDO:

Along with L’AMORE SI MUOVE, GRANDE AMORE and VOLARE.

Attention to this next video:

LIBIAM NE LIETI CALICI begins and Gian looks for words on the musical score and does not find the page. Starting slightly late, he does not remember the words, then makes a sign to the guys who understand, Ignazio and Piero go on in his part and at the end Ignazio hugs him.

It can happen to anyone, but this gesture by Ignazio and Piero is wonderful !!

In the afternoon, the guys with Torpedine presented the book RICOMINCIO DAI TRE.

Asti 9b

Another really nice thing is that last night on the streets of Asti were hanging messages that said:

I LOVE GIANLUCA

IL VOLO IS OURS

WE CAN COME ON TOUR WITH YOU

PIERO I LOVE YOU

IL VOLO VITA

IGNAZIO I LOVE YOU

Another thing to report, the friend of Ignazio, Roberto Amade published this post:

“I really want to do a big good luck to my little brother Ignazio and my friends of Il Volo who will perform tonight in Asti, near my house !! I will not be there but with the heart I will be there ….. and who else can go because it is a really beautiful show!”

Asti 9c

I would say that the boys had an extremely long and heavy day, and there was also a little rain at the beginning of the concert.

They will be tired but certainly happy for this beautiful concert.

……. and in a few days it’s up to me !!

EVERYTHING HAPPENED FOR A TRULY MAGICAL NIGHT !!!! by Daniela

July 1, 2016 ……… I can not believe it’s already been two years since that fantastic night, where in the warm sunset of Florence, you could feel in the air the magic that these three young boys were giving, at the public present.

It was wonderful and I was there.

It was my second concert and I was very excited, it was also the first time I used my daughter’s camera, I made videos that re-post to you, sorry for the various tremors and my voice in the background.

The magic was, that no one knew what to expect, we all know that the boys have incredible voices, but when they started with the Nessun Dorma, I think all those present held their breath to the end.

“O my God, it’s very difficult”, I thought, and even the boys were very emotional. There was a palpable tension in the air.

At the final note, we could not believe our ears, we all got up in a very long applause and a few teardrops wet our eyes. They were very good, we were all very proud of them, and they were tighten their hands, hugging each other, moved to be successful.

The various songs went by fast and the evening was beautiful. The muggy heat of the afternoon had given way to a nice evening temperature and Piazza Santa Croce was truly magnificent and the public really very much involved.

Between one song and another there were presentations made by the boys themselves, repeated twice, one in Italian and one in English and this was funny because Piero said: “Rewind everything and repeat because the grandmother in the front row has not heard well.”

There were also strange moments, because it was full summer and it was hot and yet, because the CD would come out at Christmas, they also sang a Christmas song, which was not added on the CD.

And Gianluca occasionally said, “Congratulations, Merry Christmas!”

The boys were really elegant, and the stage was huge, with a large chandelier that came down from the roof and emanated lights of many colors.

People reacted with enthusiastic applauses for their great affection, but also because they recognized the skill of the boys of IL VOLO.

But why in the title of today I wrote “Everything happened for a truly magical night”? Because of the videos I had taken that night…. once I returned home, I wanted to share them with someone.

It was about a year that I was following the IL VOLO FLIGHT CREW website, but I had NEVER commented, I read the various comments that I liked so much.

In fact, at that moment, I took courage and made a comment, attaching one of the videos.

Immediately Marie contacted me and told me to write my impressions on the concert and to attach all my videos that today, I’m re-posting.

I received so many very beautiful and enthusiastic comments of the videos, even if they were shaky and with background voices.

I immediately felt accepted by the group, indeed part of the group.

After three months I was able to meet Marie and Jane personally, what a wonderful meeting.

A few days before going to Florence I read that even Jana would be there to see NOTTE MAGICA, but I still did not make direct contact with Jana so we could meet and get to know each other personally. There will certainly be a next time.

Since then, every day I check the page of our beautiful website several times, and I always feel very close to all of you, even if you are on the other side of the world.

By now I have learned to know most of you. I have so many fond friends, I’m lucky.

The architects of all this are three boys of gold, our dear Piero, Gianluca and Ignazio.

Their wonderful voices console us and their family affairs, into which to our great joy, they allow us to peek, make us proud and also very united, as if we were all part of a large family.

This beautiful magic was also repeated in Verona, where I got to know other members of our crew, such as Mary and Mark Minton, Sue and Graham Hemshall, Jeannette Giglio, Susan Tafanelli, to whom I send a big hug.

Within a few days I will go to the concert of Marostica, and I am sure, it will be a beautiful concert.

I will try to get as close as possible to our boys, to whom I will certainly bring the affection of the whole crew.

I hope to be able to make good videos that I will certainly send you with a detail of the whole concert.

This is the whole story, for now, of how I started writing for Flight Crew, all because of a Magic Night.

Here is the photo of our arrival in the beautiful Florence to attend the concert, my husband and I.

Did you see that beautiful shirt I was wearing ??? I took the first shirt on the fly !!

Daniela and Husband 2015

I send a hug to the whole crew, and I hope I have not bored you too much.

After the two lucky events of 2014 and 2015, sold out in every place order, the three tenors, who in these years have won successes in all corners of the world, with their typically Italian voices and a repertoire ranging from Opera to pop music, thanks to Due Punti Eventi they announce a new concert, in the Scaliger town, which has always responded with generosity and affection.

The beautiful Piazza degli Scacchi, where the concert will be held.

The one scheduled for July 19th, beginning at 9:30 pm, will be a show in which the successful melodies of the Neapolitan, Italian and international repertoire will alternate with pieces taken from great musicals and with the most famous opera arias.

Here the original article:

Vicenza Report – Click Here

Ok, I think it’s great news, a whole concert, I think I’ll do everything to go there.

There will be Magic Night songs, but also pop songs and some surprises (maybe the new single), moreover, from Roncadelle where I live in Marostica, it’s only 100 miles, and then I’ve never seen Marostica and the famous Piazza where every year plays the Chess Game with real people.

No, I can not miss, Marostica, wait for me!

How many of you would like to be here, at that time ??

Meanwhile, as we wait on 19 July, we enjoy this piece of concert taken at Marostica in 2014, beautiful CARUSO.

THIS NEWS JUST IN!

Il Volo returns live in Italy in July with five dates in the following cities:

July 15 – ASTI – Piazza Cattedrale
July 16 – CODROIPO (UD) – Villa Manin
July 19 – MAROSTICA (VI) – Piazza Degli Scacchi
July 26 – CERVIA (RA) – Piazza Garibaldi

Flashback Friday: Notte Magica, PBS Miami

Hey, Y’all!

It’s time for another edition of, Flashback Friday!

Today, we are flashing back to one of Il Volo’s PBS events to promote Notte Magica with the help of Joan Brenin, who went to the Miami event.  Enjoy!

~~ Kelly

Better late then never !!  I am posting yet another PBS Experience !!! Mine !!!

December 2, 2016 was a very memorable night at the WLRN PBS Studio in Miami !!!  Gianluca, Ignazio and Piero were there to promote Notte Magica !!!  And myself,Debbie Gastauer and Vivian Liebgold were also there to attend an Interview, Reception and M&G with our guys !!  We arrived 45 minutes before the doors opened, but the wonderful people that work there saw us standing outside and and let us in!!  After they checked us in, they showed us the studio where there were candlelit tables that sat four in a nightclubish atmosphere.  About fifty people were there to see them including many from the Il Volo Miami Fan Club, including Diana Ramirez Velasquez, who interviewed them along with WLRN’s delightful Mia Lorenzo.

credit as on photo

Our handsome trio finally walked into the studio graciously greeting each of us as they took their positions on stools set up on a low platform directly in front of us !!  We watched their interview which was awesome!!  Ignazio was not feeling well that evening but rose to the occasion, and they were all very relaxed, engaging, animated and fun!!  Afterwards we had our photos taken with them.  I walked in front of Ignazio to stand next to my Gianluca, and he said,  “No!! No!! No !!” and pulled me over to him!!  However I still managed to keep my arm wrapped around GG’s waist!!  It was really funny!!  They were their sweet, kind, charming selves, and we were able to spend quality time with them for another two hours in a very relaxed atmosphere without security shooing us away which was absolutely incredible!!  It was by far the longest and most fun M&G ever!!  PBS also served us a delicious buffet dinner!!  It was a party for sure and a very memorable evening that we will never forget!!

A couple of weeks later, one of the young women who works at the PBS studio and who I befriended kindly sent me and Debbie discs of the interview from that night which are now a treasured memento!!

Joan Brenin

We left the studio late for our 1 1/2 hour trip back home, but we didn’t want our exciting night to end so we went to McDonald’s near Vivian’s home so we could rehash our extraordinary evening over coffee!!  It was by far the longest and most fun M&G ever!!!
I hope they come back in 2018 to promote one of their new projects !!! Fingers crossed !!🤞

The Wind Music Awards! June 5 & 6, 2017 – Arena di Verona! – by Myron Heaton

The “ WIND MUSIC AWARDS” and some other thoughts for this summer of Il Volo 2017.

I was pleased to view the Wind Music Awards presentation today and to see that our group, Il Volo, was presented with an award honoring 1myronthe fact that their Notte Magica has achieved a Platinum album level of sales (meaning sales of a miniumum of 50,000).   Also, in this category, Amazon lists “Notte Magica” as number one in sales. There are also some other awards they have won this year having to do with sales and honoring the fact that they are the best Goodwill Ambassadors that Italy has ever had to the rest of the world.

During the presentation the guys sang Nessun Dorma again, which makes sense since this song has a very, very wide audience around the world – opera lovers or not. But only one song is not a good way to judge a singing performance. Usually we have 15 to 20 songs to use for source material, but I will say that the guys’ singing artistry was very fine as usual. If I were to make one tiny comment it would be that they sounded a little tired – vocally – which makes perfect sense. After all they have been on tour ever since the last part of January with only a few short breaks and further more they have more to do yet up to near the end of July. That is a lot of concerts. One good thing I noticed when they started here in the USA in February was that they are avoiding having two or more concerts back to back to back. That sort of poor planning really hurt them during the 2013 Latin America tour. If you play Trumpet and break it then you can go out to a store and buy a new one but if you ruin your voice you cannot go to the store and buy a new one. The human voice is very resilient, but sometimes we push it too far and it does not bounce back fast or, maybe, at all. The Latin singer Jose Jose is an example of that sort of thing. He can never sing again – ever. You may remember that for the Latin Grammy awards show a few years back the boys sang Jose’s “El Triste” on a program where they were giving him an honor. He received the award and could barely talk – sounded like gravel – too much over singing, too much booze, too much drugs, and too much bad living. Thus, Il Volo sang his song for him.

I have written about this already, but want to share it again. When the boys came to Las Vegas this March they had been already fighting the desert-dry throat since Los Angeles so here our people made sure that there was humidity on stage and plenty of water bottles.  My point is that because of taking good care of themselves, vocally, they sang one of the best concerts of the whole USA tour.  This sort of thing has to be handled and taken care of from one moment to the next through all 2 ½ hours of the concert. But these guys are very smart about handling themselves. I sat in the front row and (as a vocal coach) admired tremendously how well they adapted. The singing was SUPERB! Less well trained singers would have coughed or broken phrase or sang out of tune. I know because I have heard some very famous singers give way to exactly that.

But not our boys. They had it under control from beginning to end. This is what professional singing is all about. Not just the money. All that and the fact that this program is THE most demanding set of songs that they have ever put together for a concert. The famous tenors did this program when they were in their 50s, but our boys are doing it in their early 20s. Bravo !

We need to hope that they keep this pacing steady as they head into the next batch of concerts. I am so proud of these guys.

My two cents worth….(Jana)

On the 2nd day of their performance, the guys did a “360 loop,” opting for a change in dress from their formal wear for Nessun Dorma, to a more comfortable leather and jeans, to sing their cherished hit, Grande Amore!  The guys didn’t miss a beat, battling downpours of rain – even stepping out from the stage to get a little wet – all for the love of their fans!

They were also presented with a new award this year.  They received the “gold” award for audience attendance.  This seemed to be calculated only using the concerts from Italy during May 2016 to May 2017.  The gold range level was from 40,000 to 100,000 audience attendance.  Per Daniela,

The concerts from May 2016 to May 2017 are taken into account. I believe, but it is my opinion that only Italian concerts are taken into consideration, at that time (2016) the concerts in Italian palasport had already been made, only Florence And Verona that you also saw (6000 + 12000) then concerts in 2017 in Italy but only until May, so the major ones were Torino 11.000 milano 11.000 Verona 24.000 (both night) Roma 12.000 (both nights) then others have more capes small Ancona, Roccaraso  Livorno and Bologna.

Last night they were good, admirable for being differentiated from the rest of the performances and also brave to bring a piece so busy on a very light evening. They have shown yesterday that they are serious professionals, elegant, mature at their age. Today they are three boys in jeans and leather jackets, show their age, have been addicted, certainly more suitable to this type of audience, they were cool and nice. They sang under a rain shower and Torpedine accompanied them to the drum. Bravo in both cases, have shown two faces of IL VOLO, they can do it.

Thank you to Daniela who sent us the link to the show!  Watch it before it is gone!

The last 3 years of memories for the WMA – what will the future hold for them next year?  Only time will tell….  Maybe they will win a movie award of some kind for Notte Magica or Un Amore Cosi Grande?

We can only hope, but no matter what, they continue to soar upward and onward, setting their own flight path and no one can stop them!

Hope you enjoyed this post by Myron with a few bits from Daniela & I.  Photo/video credits to all owners….

Ciao!  A presto!
