7 Things You Might Not Know About Me: 1.) I never said patience wasn't a virtue. I said it wasn't one that I possess . ;) 2.) So that rude person tailgating your car with their headlights blinding you this morning? That was me. Sorry.... :( 3.) In some ways, it seems like I was born/built to be a nurse, but I think it surprised some people that I made it at all. 4.) There was a time in my life when my only dream was to go to conservatory and be a professional cellist. Sometimes, I still wonder what would have happened to me if that had worked out. 5.) But, you know that saying about finding yourself in a place you never planned yet it being exactly where you were meant to be? Sums up my life. 6.) I dabble in creative writing, and would like to try my hand at something good enough to be published someday. 7.) I am a die-hard, "I will fight you to the death" Rafa Nadal fan. He is my tennis version of Il Volo. :) I feel so blessed that I found Il Volo and that they have opened up and changed my life in so many ways. I'm so busy trying to get through life sometimes, I forget to enjoy it. Il Volo reminds me to do that. :)

It’s been awhile since we’ve done this feature since we’ve had so many fun things with videos and translations and “Italia” launching.  We’re so glad everyone seems to be loving it all, and thanks to mlla and Maria for helping Michelle with the translations and up to the minute content from Italy!

When we first started this, I said that your reason for smiling didn’t have to be Il Volo related.  But since we all miss the guys so much, and there seems like there is going to continue to be a bit of a lull before we hear any inkling that they are off vacation and back to work, I think we should devote this edition to Il Volo and why they make us smile.

Plus (I’ll be honest), my other love, Rafa Nadal, just lost the Australian Open after injuring himself, people weren’t that nice about it, and I need a reason to smile right now–which Il Volo always makes me do.  🙂

Another Birthday Surprise!

Hey Everyone!

Gianluca has a birthday coming up next month, and we would like your help in celebrating it!

I think most of us remember that very sweet and heart-felt Thank-you video he made for all of his fans after his birthday last year.  In it, he specifically mentioned that he had “watched all the videos”, so we thought it would be fun to go that route this year.  Lisa Bhrem has already agreed to help us again–a big “Thank You” in advance to her.  Now here is how you can get involved:

1.) Take a photo or shoot a short video of yourself/friends/group holding a sign wishing Gianluca a happy birthday and telling him you love him.   You may include your name/group name for identification (for our younger participants, please remember to protect your privacy.  Once it’s on the internet, it’s forever.)

*All content must be appropriate for all audiences  (including language on the sign, type of dress, actions etc.)  I know that seems like it goes without saying, but for any younger girls with an idea to try to catch his eye, this is just a gentle reminder. Good luck! 😀 .

*Videos must be silent, between 10 to 15 seconds in length and submitted in an mP4 format.

2.) Using the “Contact Us” form (the link to it is on the left hand side of your screen: “The Flight Crew Board — Contact Us”), send us a note letting us know that you have a submission for Gianluca’s Birthday Project.  We will contact you via email with further instructions.

3.) Deadline for submissions is January 31, 2014.  No submissions will be accepted after that time to allow Lisa time to work on and finish the video.  She is doing this as a favor to us, and she is a busy lady, working full-time and having a busy family life.

Christmas is just passed, and we already look to the last holiday of the season.

New Year’s Day is traditionally when people the world over make resolutions to do better at something in the new year…and then fail and get frustrated and give it up within the first week.

I know; I am that person.  So to give myself a fighting chance in the last few years, I made one very doable resolution: I resolved to stop making New Year’s Resolutions.

I’m kidding; I’m kidding!  🙂  Not making resolutions and not having goals to pursue is no way to live, and I’m not sure how you can be devoted fans of our guys and not be inspired to do something new, different or special in your life.

I know; I am that person.  Being a board member and administrating a website with four new friends was not something I ever in a million years pictured myself doing, but because of my love for our guys, here I am!

As they usually do, the guys have managed to steal our hearts and inspire us to think at the same time.  If you follow our twitter account or peruse the twitter widget on the left side of this page, you know we made mention of their tweet but just in case you don’t, here it is:

Hey, Everyone!
Has this holiday come up on all of you as fast as it has on me?  I’m usually a little bit behind, but this year, it’s ridiculous!  When I tell you that your Christmas card is in the mail, I’m totally telling the truth.

But I digress.

In looking for a little inspiration for this piece (I don’t ever seem to have an abundance of it at the time I need it…), I took a break from the craziness, ignored Marie’s plea to stop listening to Buon Natale until she can find her car in all the snow (I might be in a little bit of trouble for that…) and surrounded myself with the guys and their three voices but one soul.

I thought of the recent Yahoo interview when they tried to explain what they meant by that and how that feels when they are on stage.  They seemed to have a little difficulty trying to put that feeling into words, but that didn’t matter because I knew exactly what they were trying to describe…which made me think about all of us IlVolovers around the world and how different we all are, yet we have this one thing in common: we feel at one with Il Volo…which is demonstrated everyday here on this website.

And all of that made me wonder how all of you might be spending this holiday season.  I can think of a few holidays that are celebrated at this time of year,but while individual religious and/or familial traditions may differ, one aspect seems to transcend them all: love.  Love for family and friends and for our fellow-man in general.

We seem to put aside the typical things that separate us and willingly wish everyone well.  We think about things that we are blessed with and are reminded of which are most important to us.  We make a wish that everyone around the world is feeling the same, because it seems that everyone deserves to and should be happy at this time of the year.

During this season, we have one soul.

And in that spirit, we wish you and yours health, wealth (remembering that the richest among us can be the poorest of church mice) and most of all: Love.

We wish the same for you too, Gianluca, Piero and Ignzaio.  Buon Natale with love!

Hey Everyone!

It’s been a little while since we last posted this feature.  We’ve had a lot of exciting things going on and holidays and coverage of the guys as they make another promotional run in the US.  But, I miss reading the comments, and I think we might need reasons to smile this week, so here we go.  🙂

We’re smiling because Connie, (Piratesorka) has shared her story about what Il Volo has meant in her life.  Head over to the Experience section to read, “My Il Volo Discovery.” 

And we’re smiling through our tears that the time has come for the guys to finally return home for a well earned, more than deserved and much needed rest from touring.  We’re smiling because it’s time for them to get hugs from their mamas, spend time with the brothers and sisters that have missed them so and to hang out with their friends and just be “one of the guys” in time for Christmas.

Thank you, Gianluca, Piero and Ignazio for including us in this incredible journey you have taken in the last four years.  Thank you for giving so much of yourselves–your talent, your time, your personalities, personal moments in your lives and so much love for your fans.  It touches us more than we can say, but we hope that all the hugs, kisses, gifts and well-wishes we’ve sent show you a little bit.

And please say “Thank you,” to all of your family and friends… everyone that loves you so well, supports you so much and shares you so openly with us.  I imagine it isn’t always easy to let you go when it is time, but we thank them from the bottom of our hearts for the gift of their loved ones they have shared with us.

Be safe, be happy, and we can hardly wait until you come back!
