Paired once again with Etihad Airways, Il Volo has come back to the US to celebrate the airline’s new direct flights to San Fransisco and Dallas. Seeing Piero’s business class ticket recently, I’m guessing he, Gianluca and Ignazio didn’t travel in these accommodations:
Truly the lap of luxury…
but, the digs for the flight over seemed quite comfy…
and the view breathtakingly tranquil…
Morning in San Fransisco is just a beautiful, and aside from the jet lag, the guys settled in.

(Oh…the next time we’re on vacation and we think there is no way to be healthy and exercise…nope. Not gonna fly. 😉 )
The first gala took place on Tuesday, December 9, at San Fransisco City Hall, with many prominent and important leaders of the business community and artists in attendance.

I think I’ve–dare I say it?–finally caught up with our busy globe trotters and can take a bit of a rest until they hit Mexico at the end of the week. Perhaps a drink right in the middle of that group of guys in the picture Gianluca Instagramed a little while ago….no…? OK…fine…. *pouting* 😉
Il Volo Performs At the New Wave Music Festival
After an emotional and amazing week in Taormina, The Guys headed to Riga, the capital of Latvia, and Jurmala to participate in the New Wave Music Festival. The festival is a six day event with two days dedicated to international competition, though Il Volo did not compete; they appeared as special guests, singing two crowd favorites. And they gave an interview to Mix TV, a Latvian music television station geared toward young people.

Yes, Gianluca; we love your looks from Brioni. Ooh, la la! Unfortunately, I’m not blonde. Dang!
Press Conference in Pescara
From Latvia, they headed “home; sweet home,” or more correctly: Gianluca did. Ignazio and Piero went with him to prepare for their press conference in Pescara to talk about their upcoming concert in Abruzzo in September. In attendance were: Pescara’s mayor, Marco Alessandrini, Giovanni Di Iacovo, Council Member of Culture, Massimo Fregnani, the Italian tour promoter and, of course, their faithful manager, Michele Torpedine.
If you don’t know that The Guys believe in faith and family, you need to read this interview from Zenit. If you already know, read it and fall in love with them more. 😉
As is often the case, he left us wondering just what he was up to since neither Piero or Ignazio mentioned it (I double checked. And of course we know that Ignazio has an especially compelling reason to be out of social media right now).
On March 20, we found out what he was doing there. Singing, “Il Mondo,” Il Volo participated in the opening of Eataly Milan Smeraldo, a place described as “ a temple of taste dedicated to the incomparable flavors of Italian cuisine.”
The video was provided by Eataly Milan Smeraldo and can be seen
I think the general consensus among the comments from our friends at All Things Il Volo is that we always love to see the guys, but the video clip including them is too short. 😉

This is your captain speaking. Welcome aboard for our final destination – home.
Thanks to Jane (maryjane), whose idea this map was, everyone will be flying first
class. So, fasten your seat belts and remain seated. Il Volo will be singing, live in
the first class cabin, as soon as we’re in the air. Our altitude will be 10 feet off the
ground and our attitude will be outstanding! There are no emergency exits. You
won’t want to leave. Oxygen masks are overhead. You may need them. Il Volo is
breath-taking. I hope you enjoy your flight home.
We have been to 84 countries, because 166,000 times the people in those countries have invited us into their homes. Tired yet? We’ve been traveling for 5 months.
Here is a map of where we’ve been. You can see from the color chart which countries we have visited the most.
By the way, we didn’t stop in China, as you can see. Our ip, WordPress, is blocked
and banned there. From what I gather, it’s because WordPress, and 2600 other site
hosts, refuse to be censoring entities. Go WordPress!
We would like to visit other places like Greenland and countries in Africa. So, if
you know someone in those countries, tell them to check us out. We need the color
on our map. However South Africa is our fourth highest visitor (Hi Ineke) behind
the U.S., Canada and Italy.
Ladies and Gentlemen, please prepare for landing.
You have safely arrived back home.
Thank you, so much everyone, for flying with the Crew.
~Marie
Come in and share the love of life, friends and Il Volo!
