MONDAY MEMORIES! Miami – Palms Court! Fri, Oct 13, 2017

Just a little over a year ago, was the last time a few of us saw the guys…. enjoy the video uploaded by Sharon.  🙂

Ok, as you have probably figured out by now, I was in Miami for the short performance of Il Volo on Friday, October 13.  Yes, Chris, Sharon, and I jetted off for Miami on Thursday.  Although it was on various Facebook pages, I stumbled upon it quite by accident.  I just kept wondering where this Estefan’s Kitchen was that Barbara and Piero kept posting from?  We knew they were in Miami, at their place, recording their new album, but were they like IN their private kitchen?  I just had to find out!  So, super sleuth that I am, I Googled “Estefan Kitchen” and what came up?  A website for a restaurant, run by the Estefan’s!  Upon further investigation, as I scrolled down, a headline link caught my eye “don’t miss the Italian singing trio Il Volo on Fri, Oct 13!”  What?  I looked further and saw it was free!  Of course, that was one of the most expensive free concerts I’ve ever been to!   Lol!  After booking the hotel, table, Uber rides, plane fare, etc.  🙂  However short their performance was, it was glorious to see them, yet once again, performing on US soil.

There are likely better versions of this video out on You Tube, as we didn’t have the best vantage point.  For some reason, they put all the paying fans to the side of the performance area.  However, the guys knew we were all there and made a point of at least looking our way a few times, as you will see from the video.  🙂   You also have to put up with my often off-key singing and various comments.  You will hear about the middle of the show, someone saying “is that really necessary?”  I just want you to know, it wasn’t about me.  The person in front of me moved her phone to a different spot, blocking the other person’s view.  I was literally, in the middle.  This is a totally unedited version, starting with me getting up from our table.

With the luck of Il Volo, it was a beautiful night – hot and breezy.  We were also lucky enough to attend the sound check, where they sang 2 songs – El Triste and O Sole Mio.  The guys didn’t come on until over halfway through, well after 8p.

I would like to give a shout out to the Estefan Kitchen!  Although we had to wait a bit for our food, it was excellent!  Even the leftovers warmed up the next day, eaten in our hotel room.   After 6 caffe/chocolate martinis, it was time to say goodbye on Sunday evening.  Chris and I said goodbye to our favorite bartender, Andres, and he was kind enough to take a picture with us.  The place has only been open since about April, but it is fabulous and the management and wait staff, superb!  The drinks, will knock your socks off!  The sangrias and caffe martinis were our favorites.  Our hotel, the Hampton Inn on Biscayne Avenue, is where we stayed and within walking distance of the “kitchen.”  (which we proved several nights in a row – even after coming back a little tipsy!)

We also had fun at South Beach Miami and Chris and I went to Butterfly World in Coconut Creek, which was also pretty cool.

When we arrived on the 3rd night in the row and sat in our now “favorite seats,” Andres wasn’t there right away and we thought he may have the night off.  However, a bit later, he did come around the corner and saw us.  He came over to me and held out his hands for me to take, like we were old friends!  Almost like Cheers, but I don’t think he knew our names.  I’m sure if we had been there longer, we could have asked for our usual and would have had it served promptly!  Oh, Andres, how I miss your martinis and only wish you could come and make them for me in my kitchen!  I would even let Chris and Sharon borrow you!

Chris and I came home on Monday, and Sharon on Tuesday.  It was short, but a pleasant, long weekend getaway – from the pre-winter doldrums, we know are coming!  Unfortunately, the guys had left Saturday to return to Italy, so there was no chance we would see them again before we left.

Oh, one more thing!  If you ever go to Miami, at least where we were, be very careful walking!  The city is not made for walkers, or drivers, for that matter!  You literally took your life in your hands when trying to cross the street.  Darned near had a heart attack after a few Uber rides.  After that, I sat in the back seat!

So, Ciao and Enjoy!  🙂

(I tried in vain several different options to uploading/downloading this, finally giving up and uploading to Facebook, however, I couldn’t download it to my own computer!  I guess I’ll have to take the SD card out eventually!)  By the way, it says the link cannot be embedded, but if you click on it, it will take you to my Facebook page.  🙂  (ok, any techie person out there that can figure this out, please let me know….)

Thank you to Sharon for uploading this video on You Tube!

Flashback Friday: Notte Magica, PBS Miami

Hey, Y’all!

It’s time for another edition of, Flashback Friday!

Today, we are flashing back to one of Il Volo’s PBS events to promote Notte Magica with the help of Joan Brenin, who went to the Miami event.  Enjoy!

~~ Kelly

Better late then never !!  I am posting yet another PBS Experience !!! Mine !!!

December 2, 2016 was a very memorable night at the WLRN PBS Studio in Miami !!!  Gianluca, Ignazio and Piero were there to promote Notte Magica !!!  And myself,Debbie Gastauer and Vivian Liebgold were also there to attend an Interview, Reception and M&G with our guys !!  We arrived 45 minutes before the doors opened, but the wonderful people that work there saw us standing outside and and let us in!!  After they checked us in, they showed us the studio where there were candlelit tables that sat four in a nightclubish atmosphere.  About fifty people were there to see them including many from the Il Volo Miami Fan Club, including Diana Ramirez Velasquez, who interviewed them along with WLRN’s delightful Mia Lorenzo.

Our handsome trio finally walked into the studio graciously greeting each of us as they took their positions on stools set up on a low platform directly in front of us !!  We watched their interview which was awesome!!  Ignazio was not feeling well that evening but rose to the occasion, and they were all very relaxed, engaging, animated and fun!!  Afterwards we had our photos taken with them.  I walked in front of Ignazio to stand next to my Gianluca, and he said,  “No!! No!! No !!” and pulled me over to him!!  However I still managed to keep my arm wrapped around GG’s waist!!  It was really funny!!  They were their sweet, kind, charming selves, and we were able to spend quality time with them for another two hours in a very relaxed atmosphere without security shooing us away which was absolutely incredible!!  It was by far the longest and most fun M&G ever!!  PBS also served us a delicious buffet dinner!!  It was a party for sure and a very memorable evening that we will never forget!!

A couple of weeks later, one of the young women who works at the PBS studio and who I befriended kindly sent me and Debbie discs of the interview from that night which are now a treasured memento!!

Joan Brenin

We left the studio late for our 1 1/2 hour trip back home, but we didn’t want our exciting night to end so we went to McDonald’s near Vivian’s home so we could rehash our extraordinary evening over coffee!!  It was by far the longest and most fun M&G ever!!!
I hope they come back in 2018 to promote one of their new projects !!! Fingers crossed !!🤞

Latest on New Album – Article Translation from Daniela!

Daniela was kind enough to find this article and translate it for us here!   We already knew it was going to be Latin/Spanish and geared toward the Latin crowd, but I know we will love it anyway!  Spanish is actually easier to understand than Italian and we know the guys will put their heart and soul into it, as always and will have a lot of fun making this one!  Here is translation from Daniela!  Grazie mille! or should I say – Muchas gracias!  🙂

Today is published by Optimagazine this article about the new album of IL VOLO.

THE NEW ALBUM OF IL VOLO WILL BE A POP REVOLUTION: THE FIRST CLUES ON THE RELEASE DATE IN 2018

It will be released in 2018 with the promise of a big pop revolution: IL VOLO is already working on the new unedited album.

Begin to leak the first clues to the new album of IL Volo, which will be totally pop-kind as they had anticipated in recent months, during the World Night Tour – A Tribute to the Three Tenors started from Vienna on April 21st.

The lucky tour has touched several European and Italian cities, and then landed on the American continent. Since September, the group has resumed the tour in Latin America, and is now working on the new pop album designed for the public and the Latin market. Produced by Emilio Estefan, husband of celebrity Gloria Estefan, the new album Il Volo will almost certainly be released by 2018, for which the three boys have been searching for melodies and lyrics, all in a newer popular dress. And from the words of the three tenors we really have to expect a great revolution!

“It will be a new pop project and we’ll surprise you, maybe there will be something with Ermal Meta and Tiziano Ferro, but we’ll see.”

Although they had expressed the desire for a break from the stages, Ignazio Boschetto, Piero Barone and Gianluca Ginoble left clues that make it clear that they were already in the studio to work on the new album of unpublished, but without hurry. “We will publish the new project when it is ready, we have no deadlines,” said Piero Barone.

At the moment, the band is devoting to the next album, and the world tour will resume in late November for the last two live concerts in Japan: November 28 will perform in Tokyo, and December 1 at Kawasaki.

The Magic Night Tour – Tribute to the Three Tenors has brought the latest record project by Michele Torpedine to the stage, which honors the show “I Tre Tenori”: Luciano Pavarotti, José Carreras and Placido Domingo, who participated in the album. Both the record and the tour have hit a huge hit all over the world with numerous dates sold out.

The Miami Concert With Kathy

Hi Flight Crew, I do look forward to your emails each day. My husband and I had a great night seeing the boys in Miami on 1st April and I thought you would be interested to see some of the pictures I took that evening. It was quite something to hear them sing the songs from Notte Magica live after watching the DVD (I’ve lost count how many times). I have found that it sounds even better with a glass of Sicilian wine! The power of their voices blew us away, especially Piero, who I must admit is my favourite!

We are now counting the days to the Royal Albert Hall in London and Taormina in June.

Keep up the good work. Very best wishes to you all who keep us Ilvolovers up to date.

~~Kathy Pritchard.
