Finally, with much delay, our beloved guys will officially make their big screen debut! How long we have waited! It will be released in Italy around mid-end of September. I did hear some rumors at one point, it should be released elsewhere, including the United States. Again, we wait! Thanks to our Il Volo site friends, below I found this on my Instagram yesterday! 🙂 Isn’t it awesome how clearly they promote our Il Volo guys?
Finally there is news on the film UN AMORE COSI’ GRANDE, where Piero, Ignazio and Gianluca also act!
Federica Andreoli, producer of the film, has sent this new, beautiful video, which I’m going to translate for you.
He also said that the film will be released by MEDUSA and will be in cinemas from September.
I asked Federica Andreoli, if it will also be distributed in America and she immediately replied that it could be distributed there too, we cross our fingers.
Here is the video and the translation.
C.De Mattheis (director): The story of the film is the story of Valdimir, a 25-year-old boy, a boy like many, is Italian but who has lived in Russia and arrives in Italy in search of his father.
Di Maggio (actor): In the film I play Vladimir, who is a boy who lived in St. Petersburg, with a mother who has always taken care of him, and who in the past was a great lyric singer. He has has lived with a great soprano and therefore, inevitably, there was this massive presence of music in Vladimir since he was born.
F.Andreoli M.Calì (producer): We can say that we were the first to give the first film CIAK to the guys from IL VOLO. They had never acted in a film. We are satisfied with how they worked, we were fine, they had a great time with us and we are happy with this.
Di Maggio (actor): As for the boys of IL VOLO, I had a great prejudice at the beginning, because they are international stars, and I thought they would behave like a star. In reality it was not like that, in the sense that they are very nice and very available guys, and they are busy doing this job. They interpret themselves, but their characters, give to these stars, these VIPs, a great humanity, in the end they are boys and this is evident in the film, and it is very nice.
C.De Mattheis (director): The choice to make this film is certainly due to the fact that in this film, for the first time in my career, I have the opportunity to talk about my great passion, the Opera.
Di Maggio (actor): I had great difficulty, at the beginning, above all, because I inevitably had to take singing lessons, and a very technical lyric song. We sang extremely difficult arias, and we had to concentrate on this and also Russian lessons, because the scenes acted in Russia are acted in Russian, with Russian actors.
I personally have a great desire to see this film and also to see how Piero, Ignazio and Gianluca work in the role of actors . . . and you?
Sunday, December 31, in the newspaper the Arena, appeared this article that updates us on the movie UN AMORE COSI’ GRANDE. Here is the translation of the most interesting part.
GREAT SCREEN, THE LYRICA FLIES IN THE WORLD
“A return of image for our city thanks to the participation of the three tenorini de IL VOLO”
While we are still discussing the fate of opera in Verona, the best part of the city of Verona, is ready to debut on the big screen with “UN AMORE COSI’ GRANDE” the film produced by the Verona A.C. Production by Michele Calì and Federica Andreoli. It hopes to bringyoung people closer to the world of opera through a love story that promises to fascinate film and opera lovers of different latitudes.
In addition to the distribution in Italian cinemas, in fact, expected between late February and early March 2018, the film will land in 47other countries, “with great image return both for our beautiful city, where most of the scenes were shot (Arena, Sala Maffeiana, Teatro Filarmonico), and for the lyrical tradition for which Verona is, and must continue to be, ambassador in the world,“comments Calì.
The plot, already involving for the subject, also plays another winning card: the friendly participation of IL VOLO, a fresh and young presence, like the two protagonists of the film, Giuseppe Maggio and Francesca Loy, all witnesses, each in his own role, of the prodigiousness of music, and in particular of belcanto.
“A challenge, also for us producers” adds Calì, “to bring Ignazio, Piero and Gianluca on the set, to interpret themselves. We were the first to succeed and this made us believe even more in the project, obviously also appreciated from the three world-famous artists.”
………………the article continues talking about the subsidies and other non-leading actors.
Also on you tube appeared this video interviewing the main actress, Francesca Loy.
You can activate the simultaneous translator, however at the beginning questions are asked about the plot. She says that she can not reveal much because the film has not yet come out.
It is a love story that takes place between St.Petersburg and Verona, two guys who meet and one of them is passionate about opera.
At minute 4.59 Francesca Loy answers questions about the Flight that I’m going to translate.
* Recall that also recite the three guys of IL VOLO, Ignazio Piero and Gianluca, winners of Sanremo in 2015. Tell us a little gossip, how was acting with them, what types are they?
F= So, I’ll tell you, they are first of all very nice guys, just handy, not at all arrogant, they do not even seem famous. You realize that when one evening I went out with Gianluca. We went to Piper (a local in Verona) and he was very quiet, that is, very simple people.
It was exciting, because still hearing them sing live, it is an indescribable emotion.
* Are they as strong as they feel on television?
F = Yes, absolutely yes, they are very nice, all three, especially with Ignazio. I laughed a lot, they are really sweet and very nice guys.
Back in September at the Venice Film Festival, there was a press conference for the presentation of the film, UN AMORE COSI’ GRANDE, where our boys will be present as actors. It will be a beautiful romantic film.
Here in Italy the film will be released in February on Valentine’s Day. It was said that a first vision will be released by December, and only in Verona.
I sent a message to Federica Andreoli, the producer of the movie, UnAmore così Grande.
I told her that ILVOLO’s fans of Flight Crew wanted to know if the film will be distributed to America as well.
Federica kindly answered me. These are her words.
“Hi Daniela, we are now finishing the film editing and then going to the musical part! The film will also be released in other countries beyond Italy and I also hope in America … a hug and good Sunday.“
The following is the Press Conference. I will translate from the 10.05 minute…what the producer of the film says about the participation of Il Volo.
“What can I say, I’m the one who wanted strongly the boys of IL VOLO.“
“The boys of IL VOLO, why? Because today are the most beloved, mostfollowed Italian guys, in Italy and in the world. They are the ambassadors of Italian music in the world, so it was the right choice to have them in this movie, a film that must bring young people to the lyrical world.
Today they are not here with us, they send greetings because in a few days they will leave for a South American tour, the 7th will be in Mexico with the first concert, a tour that will see them busy for a couple of months.
Negotiation with them was not easy because they are always around the world, so finding them, talking to them by phone, it was not easy. We put in 15 months and we did it. They read the subject and fell inlove with the screenplay. I have to say a special thanks goes to their manager, Michele Torpedine, because he helped me so much in this negotiation.
And then I chose them for another reason, because I’m a fan of theirs. I had a dream, to make an event, a movie with these three guys and Isucceeded. I can say that the first ciak, the first “take” of the boys of IL VOLO, is in my movie. As a producer and fan, I have double satisfaction.”
Here is the video promo of the film.
