EVENTS AND PRIZES AT IL VOLO by Daniela

Here I am back, I was away for a short holiday, but apparently Il Volo hasn’t been stopped even in these days, in fact I read that it hosted a private party, but, as always, let’s go into detail. 😉
In Potenza Picena, a town in the Marche, the region near Abruzzo, there is a factory, Golden Plast, a company specialized in the production of thermoplastic components. This year Golden Plast celebrates 30 years since its foundation and is currently a very thriving company, so its owner wanted to celebrate with all his employees, offering them a wonderful day that began with a conference, a speech by the owner, a dinner and then ended with an unforgettable evening entertained by Il Volo. 🥰
In the video below you will see some moments of the evening.

“…. the most awaited moment of the evening has arrived, with the arrival of Il Volo greeted by the ecstatic crowd. Being in the Macerata area, the trio could only open the dance with a tribute to Jimmy Fontana. IL MONDO is immediately an explosion of notes and great emotions, “it has never stopped for a moment”, just like Goldenplast in these 30 years.”
Caracalla’s concert had excellent reviews, I propose this article from STYLE MAGAZINE.

THE IL VOLO TOUR STARTS WELL: TRIUMPH AT THE BATHS OF CARACALLA. AND IT’S JUST THE BEGINNING.

Volo triumphed at the Baths of Caracalla in Rome. The first concert of the Tutti per Uno – Capolavoro summer tour, produced by Friends & Partners, sold out immediately. The audience, which responded with overwhelming enthusiasm to the trio’s live performance, was packed with fans from as far away as Brazil, Venezuela, Mexico, Argentina and Japan. A united and borderless audience, like the art of the group that breaks down barriers and ranges between different musical genres. During the live show, Il Volo presented the songs from the album Ad Astra, their first unreleased album, together with the greatest hits of the Italian musical tradition and the group’s now consolidated repertoire. A beautiful celebration, given that in 2024 the band celebrates 15 years of career. The party actually began in February with the success of Capolavoro, a Disco D’Oro song presented at the Sanremo Festival. After the live dates in Japan, the boom of Tutti Per Uno (a project by Michele Torpedine) arrived: three special concert events with numerous guests at the Verona Arena, broadcast on Canale 5.
After the Roman debut, the summer tour will continue until September in the most evocative locations of our country. (the long list of Italian concerts follows).
In autumn Piero Barone, Ignazio Boschetto and Gianluca Ginoble will continue the tour in the main European capitals. The party will then continue in 2025 with the “indoor tour” Tutti per Uno – Ad Astra Live in the indoor stadiums, in addition to international dates in the USA, Canada and Latin America.
PIERO= Hello everyone, we are at the Baths of Caracalla for the start of this tour which will see us busy in all the most beautiful places in Italy throughout the summer.
IGNAZIO= Venice, Piazza S. Marco….
GIANLUCA= Pompeii….
IGNAZIO=…… Pompeii, Florence….
PIERO= Sicily, Macerata….
GIANLUCA= We will sing in the most beautiful places in Italy and then conclude the Italian tour in the sports halls in January, we are waiting for you.
PIERO= Bye everyone.
On June 16th Ignazio published this nice photo……
……it’s the beautiful Michelle’s birthday!!

Happy Birthday Michelle!! 🎂🎂🥂🥂🍾🎉😍

With very little notice, the news was published that an award will be awarded to Il Volo on June 20th:
“While waiting for the upcoming Tuscan concerts of the TUTTI PER UNO – CAPOLAVORO tour, on Thursday 20 June the President of the Tuscany Region Eugenio Giani will hand over the Pegasus of Tuscany to Il Volo, the trio made up of two tenors and a baritone: Piero Barone, Ignazio Boschetto and Gianluca Ginoble.
The ceremony will take place at 2:00 pm in the Medici Park of Pratolino (Florence) in the Sala Rossa of Villa Demidoff.”
Pegasus (mythological horse with wings, indomitable) is the symbol of the Tuscany region.
And here is Gianluca, Ignazio and Piero with the Golden Pegasus delivered by Governor Giani who published the photo with these words:
“Il Volo goes to the Golden Pegaso, the highest recognition of our region. Piero, Gianluca and Ignazio bring the values and tradition of Italian music culture to the world!”
The arrival of the boys in Tuscany.
And here are the moments of the awards ceremony:
(The governor of Tuscany fondly remembers that when there was NOTTE MAGICA in Florence, in Piazza S. Croce, he had just been elected. He remembers the effect of the beautiful songs with the backdrop of the beautiful square.)
(In the video Gianluca explains how they made the album Ad Astra, which represents personal and artistic growth.)
“This morning, now a month after the first of the two concerts, the presentation to the press of the Tuscan stages of 22 July and 5 August was held in the Red Room of Villa Demidoff. On this occasion, the president of the Tuscany Region Eugenio Giani presented Il Volo with the “Pegaso”, one of the institution’s highest honours. The mayor of Vaglia Silvia Catani and a delegate from the Metropolitan City of Florence, owner of the Marco Mediceo di Pratolino, also participated in the presentation.”
Il Volo will stop in Tuscany with two events of their ‘Tutti per uno – Capolavoro’ tour: on 22 July in Florence at the Medici Park of Pratolino and on 5 August at the Puccini open-air Gran Teatro in Torre del Lago (Lucca), in Versilia.
Today the presentation, at Villa Demidoff in the Medici park of Pratolino, in the presence of the trio, composed of Piero Barone, Ignazio Boschetto and Gianluca Ginoble, and, among others, the president of the Tuscany Region Eugenio Giani, who on the occasion gave Il Volo il Pegasus, symbol of Tuscany, among the highest honors of the Region.
During the concerts, explains a note, fans will be able to immerse themselves in the music of Ad Astra, the first album of unreleased songs by Il Volo, which this year celebrates 15 years of career, and in the greatest successes of the Italian musical tradition and their repertoire.
“We are thrilled to return to Tuscany with two extraordinary concerts – underlines Il Volo. The memory of the 2016 concert in the beautiful Piazza Santa Croce in Florence, where we performed with Placido Domingo, and the warmth of the Tuscan public always fill us with gratitude We are also thrilled and honored to receive the ‘Pegaso’, a prestigious award, which represents an important recognition for our commitment to promoting Italian culture and music in the world. We can’t wait to share our music with you first album of unreleased songs, Ad Astra, and the songs we have inherited from our cultural heritage. It will be a unique opportunity to celebrate our 15 years of career and the beauty of this land with the power of music.” Giani honored the three artists “For having become ambassadors of Tuscany and Florence in the world. And this thanks to the extraordinary concert held on July 1st 2016 in Piazza Santa Croce in Florence from which Il Volo produced a CD and a DVD which made reliving for millions of people the emotions of a unique and unrepeatable event in an equally unique and unrepeatable scenario”. “I still remember their concert in Santa Croce – he added – “Notte Magica” which represented and launched an evocative message, bringing the image and charm of our region beyond national borders and overseas and for this we are grateful to them.”

(turn on subtitles)
The Rai3 news also talked about the award ceremony.
Here is the video of the conference held at Il Volo, the mayor’s words, the journalists’ questions, the arrival of the President of the Tuscany Region, his speech and the awarding of the golden Pegasus. As usual, Ignazio always pleasantly tries to lighten things up and make people smile. 😁 (Turn on subtitles.)

But it didn’t end there, because on June 22nd Il Volo participated in BATTITI LIVE, a Radio Norba broadcast that hosts many singers and was held in Molfetta, a beautiful town in Puglia.
Here is the video of the releases:

Some pictures:

And here is the video of the evening, Il Volo sang CAPOLAVORO and GRANDE AMORE.
What can I say, the very young audience reacted by singing at the top of their lungs along with Il Volo, what a thrill!! 🤩🤩🤩

And finally, Il Volo received IL TELEGATTO award from the weekly SORRISI E CANZONI TV.
The TELEGATTO was a famous award established in various categories for merit of TV and radio programs, but also deserving people. There was an annual gala evening with the awarding of the Telegatto d’oro (gilded bronze), in short, like an Italian “Oscar”.
Since 2008 the prize has been abolished, but in 2022 it has returned in an ecological version (the new Telegatto is made of recycled plastic and in three colours, yellow, blue, fuchsia), there is no longer a gala evening and it involves the award several times during the year to artists and prominent figures in entertainment, music, sport and the social world.
Other good news:
The Roseto Gentile Festival is born in Roseto degli Abruzzi, and his famous fellow citizen Gianluca Ginoble will be appointed ambassador of kindness. Appointment from June 21st to 23rd.
The Roseto Gentile Festival kicks off in Roseto degli Abruzzi, scheduled from 21st to 23rd June. Organized by the Movimento Italia Gentile association, in co-planning with the Municipality of Roseto and other associations, the event will be dedicated to wellness practices that involve body, mind and spirit and will be enriched by a special event: the appointment of Gianluca Ginoble as ambassador of the kindness for Roseto degli Abruzzi.

WOMAN= The Kindness Festival of the city of Roseto and the appointment of the Kindness Ambassador goes to Gianluca Ginoble. (cheers)
MAN = (he reads the motivation) The feeling of kindness which is not only expressed in politeness, but above all in attention towards children and the elderly, in respect and sensitivity towards the environment, in participation and in the sense of belonging to the Rosetana community represented throughout the world.
GIANLUCA= You make me move.
WOMAN= All true things!
MAYOR = (he makes a speech starting from when two years earlier they proposed this Festival of Kindness to him which has now materialised. He thanks the councilor who worked hard for this festival. In the end he asks Gianluca for permission to use “poetic license” by calling the event a great “capolavoro” )
The award is given to Gianluca who in the end confirms that he is:
Paganese and Rosetano!!  (citizen of Montepagano and Roseto)

And here is the moment of the Festival where Gianluca talks about kindness. Wonderful words come from the mouth of Gianluca who once again confirms great maturity and sensitivity, I translate everything for you. 😍
GIANLUCA= I truly believe that kindness is the greatest gift, perhaps structural, we are born with it, we can definitely work on it over time. It is a bridge that places us outside of our ego, of our subjectivity, to learn to listen, to enter the interior life of others, to understand the requests for help that can start from a gesture, a word or a simple look, that’s it. It’s also empathy, and I think that’s a rare gift. It was passed on to me by my family, and then all children also go through imitative processes, I believe that it is also important, in my opinion the most important thing is to have an education that allows you to grow up in an atmosphere of purity, and this purity of soul that I have always tried to convey through my voice and gestures. I always say that you have to start worrying when people don’t stop you anymore, when people don’t compliment you anymore or maybe they don’t listen to you anymore, because mistakes can be made, especially at a young age, but I think it’s really important. work on oneself, and also go through knowledge, knowledge of feelings, of readings, literature helps a lot, and philosophy helps in my opinion to also understand ethics, morals, understand how to behave in everyday life and surround yourself with “pure”, beautiful, true people who allow you to grow and become the best version of yourself. (applause)
WOMAN= Do you want to ask Gianluca a question? (it is addressed to Daniel Lumera, biologist , sociologist and writer, professor of wellness sciences and meditation, the man sitting on the sofa with Gianluca)
LUMERA= I ask you this question:
Have you ever managed to find kindness even in pain, in loneliness, in abandonment, in failure, in death? What is kindness for you deeply, how have you experienced it, are you able to find it even in difficult moments?
GIANLUCA= I am only 29 years old and despite this I have experienced moments of great joy in my life, but also of pain and I understood that in reality true growth only comes, perhaps, through suffering, accepting it and not chasing it away, as when perhaps we try to push the anguish under the carpet, trying to never face the problem.  Otherwise we never grow, we never put ourselves in the position of facing the difficult things in life trying to avoid them, so I welcomed suffering, I contemplated it, even death, perhaps of loved ones, so as not to be unprepared, even if then no one is truly ready for death, whether ours or that of others. Real suffering is when people leave and those who remain really suffer, and must learn to accept it, like the end of a love which can be a small mourning, which leaves us great life lessons, these things allow us to grow and learn to love, to be more selective.
I have always surrounded myself with “kind” people, I must admit that I have never even received disappointments in my life, sometimes I think about it… why?…, I don’t know and this is truly a privilege too. I believe I have never hurt anyone, even if we are all beginners, even in love, it can be discussed but trying never to offend the sensitivity of the other, I, even in my relationships, try to deeply understand the needs emotions and I try to understand them fully so as not to make the other person suffer, to give care to friends, to the person I love, to my family, and to the time I spend with loved ones, because then love is a feeling that does not possess but frees, so from this point of view I believe that it is like the unconditional love of a mother, she will love you for your whole life, she will give you all of herself without ever asking for anything in return, well, I believe that this is the purest act of love, which we must try to nourish, cultivate with everyone, a universal love. (applause)
LUMERA= Tonight many surprises, many improvisations on the theme of kindness. In recent years kindness has expanded (as a movement) think it has arrived in the Maldives, an island in the Maldives has named itself Gentile Island in Barcelona, which I think you know, it is the process of kindness that is happening. So kindness is a value that apparently goes against the trend. The root of the word kindness comes from the word “gens” the people, which was a noble family of ancient Rome, a nucleus of belonging not necessarily biological, of people who created a sense of identity and belonging through their ability to take care of others, and in this period in which we create identity and belonging also with a sometimes political sense, starting from the creation of an enemy, with an extremely violent verbal language, kindness is a provocation, and in a patriarchal society it is also considered a great weakness and now I ask you, first of all, if in your profession which has led you to travel the world internationally, despite there being pressure, what value does kindness have? Exists? And above all, how do you experience them in your art? In singing, can the voice be gentle? When can he be kind? At 29 you are a very wise and very sensitive person, in your speech there is an incredible depth and sensitivity, how can kindness be useful for you? For you it is an inclusive process, because it is part of your identity, as well as that of your land.
GIANLUCA= Don’t you think that even by setting a good example, it can be a way to try to transmit it? I try to always be myself, I don’t even want to give lessons, I’m still very young, I would never allow myself.
However, I believe that it is true that we are not all the same, that we are all different. Many people may not know love because they have never been taught it. There are those who have had childhood traumas which then spill over into adulthood and are difficult to manage in my opinion, so that’s why we shouldn’t even judge those who don’t know how to be kind, but try to understand, help them understand their story, their past, we are all completely different. I have also tried to cultivate it by getting used to not being judgmental towards others, and I believe this is the most important thing, to never judge. Maybe gossip, we like to know what others are doing, we shouldn’t judge by putting ourselves on a pedestal as if we were better beings, as if we were never wrong, when in reality we too are like them if not worse, so by questioning ourselves, constantly, I think that’s the secret, definitely. (applause)

I have no words to comment on the events and awards received by Il Volo in this period.
Piero, Ignazio and Gianluca are currently experiencing a golden period here in Italy, they are much admired and appreciated, not only by the people who comment on them benevolently, but also by the various newspapers and TV news.
Unfortunately, their songs are still played very little on the radio, the music from the new album has NEVER been played on the radio, the only one you hear sometimes is CAPOLAVORO!
But despite everything there has been a great reversal on the part of people, now people admit that they listen to Il Volo, that they go to their concerts and above all they admit that they are really good singers and also good people. I just hope that this period continues for a long time because the three of them really deserve so much. ❤️

A Masterpiece by Susan De Bartoli

How many different ways can you say Masterpiece! Capolavoro by far was the highlight of Sanremo! I know the guys didn’t win but what they brought to Sanremo was a winning team, a winning performance and the best video clip of Sanremo 2024!

It truly deserved the Casa Sanremo ~ Soundies Award 2024! And of course, compliments to Leandro Manuel Emede Director, Nicolo Cerioni Creative Director and Cardigan srl Producer of the video!

Leandro Manuel Emede said, “Thanks to the jury of music and film experts of Casa Sanremo and to the President of the National Syndicate of Italian Cinematic Journalists (Sngci) of the Silver Ribbons for choosing our video clip as Best Video Clip Sanremo2024.”
The award for the best video clip was presented by Vincenzo Russolillo to Il Volo. The idea of this award was born from Russolillo himself and the award represents the first award in Italian history dedicated to the video clips of a song competing at the Sanremo Festival and intended for record companies.
When presenting the award to Il Volo, Russolillo said, “Your work has been selected by a high-quality jury, chaired by Laura Delli Colli, President of the National Union of Italian Film Journalists (SNGCI) of the Nastri d’Argento.”
Russolillo continued, “from the stage of the Lounge of Casa Sanremo, I deliver the Soundies Awards 2024 Award, on behalf of the Municipality of Sanremo from the hands of Councillor Sara Tonegutti, together with a voucher for the production of the next video clip to be made in the territory of the Municipality of Sanremo.
The trio takes music to new heights through video, exploring the stars and the mysteries of infinity. A visual odyssey that combines the musical talent of Il Volo with the grandeur of space, offering a sensory experience that defies the boundaries of imagination.”
It truly was a magnificent video. Even when we didn’t know what the song was about we were enthralled by the video and when we finally saw it, we were totally floored! It went beyond words!

We knew it was the best video and their performance was A Masterpiece, and it should have sent a message to the press.
So let me back up a minute and tell you what we all know and certainly what the guys knew.
I know the guys saw the writing on the wall even before they entered the competition.  I’m not saying that they must win because they are Il Volo; what I’m saying is you should be judged fairly.
Il Volo has never been judged fairly by the Italian press! More so than anything else, it hurts the Italian fans because the Italian fans love them! What Il Volo presented this past week was phenomenal. Their performances surpassed every other performance at Sanremo 2024!  Their elegance! Their presence on stage! Their never-ending voices! Voices that touch our souls!  Voices that give every song meaning because every song they sing comes to life with their voices!
People all over the world love these guys and yet a hand full of press choose prejudice to judge them instead of integrity! It begs the question, what did three teenage boys do to bring down your wrath and cause you to never find a kind word for them in fifteen years? Where is your integrity?
I truly wish Angelina Mango the best of luck. She deserved to win as much as Il Volo deserved to be judged fairly!

Let’s take a look at their first performance at Sanremo 2024 !

There were many interviews last week. In one of those interviews, the guys told us there will be a PBS special taped at the pyramids in Egypt in June. What amazing news! It seems this is what they were saying when they said they were preparing something nice for their American friends.
I thank Daniela for all the beautiful translations she did this last week. You can read all these translations in Daniela Perani’s column on Flight Crew!
I have just a few excerpts of interviews I wanted to bring to your attention.

Immediately after performing Capolavoro for the first time, the guys went to the Radio 2 box to be interviewed by Eva Stokolma and the journalist, Gino Castaldo. In the past, Castaldo has never had a good comment for our guys. One question Castaldo asked the guys summed up the interview and said a lot about their presence at Sanremo 2024.
Castaldo: I have a serious question. You have been international for a long time, you move from one stage to another, crazy performances from New York, the world is your audience. Is it possible that Sanremo is still so exciting for you who now have the world in front of you as spectators?
Ignazio: But you know better than us that around Sanremo there is a whole machine that rotates and it’s crazy, there’s a lot of work this week and if you’re not strong you risk being overwhelmed and sucked in by the anxiety and tension that the week takes its toll on you, after a year and a half of work, as Gianluca said.
Gianluca: It’s an emotional factor, we were born here, so we become children again when we go up on that stage, all those childhood anxieties reemerge as if it were the first time.
Castaldo concluded by saying, “Good work, have a good week.” A compliment from Castaldo. I’m surprised the guys didn’t faint!
Beyond the compliment, the answer to Castaldo’s question really says a lot about their performance at Sanremo. The emotions of singing on the Ariston Stage brings back beautiful memories of their first performance; a performance that also includes the “childhood anxieties,” as Gianluca said! If there were anxieties, I never noticed them!

The second interview with Eve and Castaldo really blew everyone’s mind. Listen to Castaldo’s comments.
Castaldo: I will tell you, and I was commenting on it, that your song grows with every listen.
Ignazio: Come on!! But this is great news.
Gianluca: Coming from Gino Castaldo (who has always been negative against Il Volo)…..thanks, coming from him it’s incredible.
Eva: But it’s the truth.
Ignazio: I have to say one thing, I had a lot of fun tonight. It’s something I immediately said to them (Gian and Piero), we hugged each other, and I told them: ‘Thank you because I had fun.’
So Castaldo is beginning to change his tune. Will other members of the press do the same. Don’t hold your breath!
After the first interview, the guy’s left Radio 2 and immediately went to meet Fiorello. You had to know this would be fun.

Of course, Fiorello said they had to sing. And what do they sing? What they sing every time they meet Fiorello. Their old go to Sicilian song ~ Tirichitolla.

As always the guys had fun with Fiorello!

Ignazio: I would say let’s spin the wheel and see what comes out.
Piero: Tell us about a Horror date.
Gianluca: When I met them for the first time in my life.  Alright guys, let’s move on.
Piero: Dance….nooooo
Gianluca:  But we don’t know how to dance.
Ignazio: I’ll show you.
Gianluca: Well done, well done, better if you sing!
Gianluca: Tell us about a surprise you loved giving or receiving.
Unexpectedly at the station, as soon as she gets off the train, you wait for her there with a rose in your hand…nice.
Piero: I don’t like surprises, neither giving them nor receiving them.
Gianluca: Can you tell us the worst joke you’ve ever suffered?
Piero: In Bologna I faked a burglary at home, I called my brother, he left work, came home and it was a joke.
I’ll let you imagine what happened.
Ignazio: You’re an asshole!
Gianluca: How you love to show affection to others.
Ignazio: Gianluca bothering me.
Gianluca: Yes, I hug, pinch, kiss, I’m very carnal.
PIero: I dedicate the song Capolavoro.
Ignazio: He dedicates it and I sing it.
Piero: Can I do the last one? Tell us about a trip you loved taking. Guys, everyone go to Japan, it’s the best trip you can do in your life.
Ignazio: It will also be a little strange for those who go for the first time because the sushi tastes completely different from what we are used to.
The first time I thought the people had fallen asleep at the concert, but instead they were attentive.
Someone backstage says he’s going to Japan in March.
Piero: In March? We’re going in March too.
You saw, he said he’s changing the date.
Gianluca: If there’s a flight I won’t go!

But getting back to their performance. They followed Capolavoro with Who Wants to Live Forever.

Talk about a phenomenal performance. Together with guitarist, Stef Burns, the guys gave a version of Who Wants to Live Forever that even Queen would envy! When I heard what they were going to sing I had visions of a performance that would bring the house down! I was right to some degree! It certainly brought my house down!
When they performed Who Wants to Live Forever, it was flawlessly executed. They were being evaluated for their performance. These are the words of one of the journalist…
Il Volo’s “Who Wants To Live Forever” with Stef Burns: on the singing level they are, as always, impeccable. But there always remains that musical feel that doesn’t fit well with the tastes of the contemporary world. They always seem out of time. Rating 6.5.
So, I must raise the question, did the journalists and radio stations fail to recognize the mastery displayed in their performance? And, in the case of televoting, some switchboards did not meet the evening’s demands, leading to the unfortunate scenario where the votes of numerous fans were not accurately represented.
If the switchboard didn’t fail, would there have been a different result! I certainly think so! As to the press, the above comment says it all. You’re great but you’re not getting our vote! I think that sums up the press!
Their performance of Capolavoro and Who Want to live Forever certainly were the highlight of Sanremo even if the journalist refuse to recognize it!
The last night of Capolavoro!

Click here to view the final performance

For me Sanremo 2024 was all about Il Volo. As I said in the beginning it doesn’t mean you win because of you are Il Volo but, in truth, Il Volo was the winner for so many people! Their performance was unsurpassed. They were the highlight of Sanremo 2024 and that’s why they are A Masterpiece!
As to my feeling about last week. I think every performance, every interview, every photo taken was A Masterpiece! They brought joy to our lives and gave us moments that will live in our hearts forever. They were Sanremo 2024!

Before I close, let me quote from Capolavoro!

Truly!
You were the only light
to make sense
And this life with you
It’s a Masterpiece!

You are our Masterpiece!

Join me next week as I go back Through the Fields of My Mind and bring to you the next exciting adventure of Il Volo.

GIANLUCA PRIDE OF ABRUZZO by Daniela

Immediately after returning from the European tour, our young men returned to their homes, but they certainly didn’t sit idle.  First there was Piero’s lecture at the University of Enna, immediately afterwards Gianluca was present at an event.
The “T. ACERBO” Technical Institute of Pescara turned 100 years old and promoted a special day dedicated to the ERASMUS + project in which Gianluca Ginoble was the guest of honor.
This newspaper reports a beautiful article of the event:

 THE ACERBO MAKES 100 YEARS, GINOBLE TO STUDENTS:
“OPEN YOURSELF TO THE WORLD”
The tenor of Il Volo launches an appeal to the children of Pescara:
“You have to sacrifice to achieve great results.”
“Parents must be able to believe in their children and support their passions, just as mine did with me and today I can say that music is and has been my salvation.”
Thus begins the speech by Gianluca Ginoble, singer of the famous group Il Volo, addressed to the students of the Acerbo Institute on the occasion of the centenary celebrated yesterday in the main hall in the presence of the school director Carlo di Michele, the president of the Province Ottavio de Martinis and the director for the regional school office Giuliano Bocchia.
On this occasion, the Erasmus project was presented which will allow students to grow through knowledge of different cultures and traditions.
“Travel the world, open your mind, try to learn about different cultures.” declares Ginoble, “and do not remain firm in your beliefs but always cultivate doubt which I believe is the most important element for growth both on a personal and professional level. We have all been young and have asked ourselves questions about who we are, who we want to be and what role we will play within society. We have all been struck by an anguish that is part of life itself, and it is precisely what will lead us to move forward with perseverance and ambition. We live in a society that completely deludes us that maximum results can be achieved with minimum efforts, but in reality”, underlines the singer, “this is not the case, because only through great sacrifices can we achieve great objectives and not be distracted by everything that surrounds, that is, by the aesthetic perfection that we see on social media. In reality, in order to improve ourselves we must learn to know ourselves. Knowing yourself has always been the backbone of my life. I’m 28 years old and I still have a lot to learn and giving advice to young people is always delicate for me, but the message I feel like giving is to never give up, because it’s the only way to feel alive.”
Then a passage about being famous:
“Fame is an ephemeral concept, I never looked for it, I simply wanted to do what made me happy. I sing for myself and above all to convey emotions to others because I feed on this. The only way to remain humble and not being overwhelmed by success is to never forget our roots and the education we have received, in particular for me it is the great relationship I have with my grandfather Ernesto which is always there for me. I bring all this to the stage, even if I’m in New York or Sydney and it’s something that helps me a lot to remain myself.”
“Gianluca is an example for our students”, declares Di Michele, “not only because he undertook an important path that allowed him to travel the world, thus becoming an international star, but also because he managed to do all this while maintaining its simplicity.”
The Erasmus project led by Professor Marilia De Dominicis, thanks to the support of the former head teacher Annateresa Rocchi, will allow the pursuit of teaching open to cultural diversity.
And the president of the Province De Martinis comments:
“The project aims to raise awareness of the various European realities and thus come into contact with important topics such as the environment, sustainability and above all active citizenship.
These are topics that will allow children to grow in an important way both from a personal and academic point of view. I too was a scholar in this school and was part of its hundred years, and today I am here to tell you students to commit to education to give us a better world.”

In this video 8 broadcast by TG8, you can see a short interview with Gianluca.
VOICE= Guest of honor Gianluca Ginoble from Il Volo, who told the kids about his personal relationship with the school.
GIANLUCA= For me it is wonderful to be among young people first and foremost. I’m young, but I’m no longer 17, I’m 11 years older than them, so time has passed for me too, but I still feel like that child who has the great dream of wanting to achieve that goal of being a singer, of having that ambition of being able to know oneself and one’s vocation and this I believe is the most important message for young people, to work for themselves on a personal level, but above all to try to build a future, to have a purpose to have a role in life.
Another video broadcast on TG Abruzzo.
PRESENTER= The celebrations for the 100 years of the ACERBO Institute, guest of honor this morning was the singer Gianluca Ginoble of the group Il Volo, who closed the meeting on the notes of enthusiasm. The students, in the external spaces of the school, were the protagonists of a themed choreography inspired by the new ERASMUS+ as a symbol of union and collaboration between the different European countries. Erasmus was the central topic of the morning with stories and testimonies from students and professors who have completed courses abroad.

The ERASMUS+ project involves and promotes studies abroad, students have already been present in Spain, Germany and France.
The event was titled: “L’ ACERBO VOLA”, a clear reference to Il Volo and the recently concluded European tour.
At the end, in the courtyard of the institute, the students carried the flags of Spain, Germany, France, England , as well as Italy, then they formed a big E (Erasmus) and they all sang Grande Amore.

GIANLUCA= I always tell guys not to stop working for their future.
Furthermore, on October 22nd, in Atri (the town where Gianluca was born) there will be the “ATRI AWARD” journalism event, and Gianluca will be awarded as better explained by the Instagram stories published by Ercole Ginoble and which I will translate for you.

During they awarded a special prize to the Abruzzo singer of IL VOLO, Gianluca Ginoble with the following motivation:
“A very successful artist in the musical field, with his unmistakable voice, his elegant features, he contributed to giving prestige to Abruzzo and to the people of Abruzzo in the world.”
The award was presented to the artist on Sunday 22 October 2023 at 6:00 pm in the municipal theater of Atri during the awards ceremony in the presence of the Minister of Culture Gennaro Sangiuliano and leading names in Italian journalism, television and sport, including the President of the FIGC Gabriele Gavina.

And here is the moment of the awards ceremony.
PRESENTER= I ask the President of the Atri for Atri association, Andrea Spada, to join me here, for the delivery of a special recognition.
The Adranus award to a great artist in the musical field with his unmistakable voice and his elegant features has contributed to giving prestige to Abruzzo and to the people of Abruzzo in the world. Special recognition to the singer of Il Volo, but our ambassador in the world : Gianluca Ginoble.
(Gianluca goes on stage, greets those present and hugs the presenter)
Sorry, but I’ve known him since he was like this (little one) and he has maintained the same humility, the same generosity, he has only become an international star, but he has remained himself and this is the most beautiful thing.
GIANLUCA= So you really move me. Thank you, I’m happy to be here, thanks to all of you, by the way, I was born in Atri, so (cheers). I want to thank you because it is never a given to receive an award, I am not a journalist, because like journalists I give voice to words, to emotions through my voice,and at my age being here among all of you is truly a great privilege and I don’t take it for granted.
I have always tried not to be overwhelmed by what fame and success can be, which is a truly ephemeral concept that can sometimes change the essence of a person, therefore simplicity and education, values, are the most important things to move forward, to remain who you are, appreciate the affection of the public which is never taken for granted and always move forward. What I am doing with my colleagues is to bring with humility, but with great ambition, our music which is the history of bel canto which is in our culture. We also try to bring it to the new generations because I believe it is really important to never forget the roots, without being too nostalgic, but always with an ambitious look towards the future, and that is what we are trying to do. (applause)
PREFECT= As prefect I am trying to publicize the many excellences of the province of Teramo, now let’s pay homage to a person who is bringing the name of Italy to the world, with the historical Italian arts, that is, bel canto.
By a curious coincidence, he is a musician, more or less also like me, so congratulations indeed.
PRESENTER= The ATRI award for the show goes to Gianluca. (final greetings)

VOICE= Gianluca Ginoble, born in Adri, as you remembered, awarded in Adri, what satisfaction is it?
GIANLUCA= When Abruzzo calls I am always very happy to be able to somehow bring values higher and higher through music which is my greatest passion, around the world. I love my land and I am very happy to be here.
VOICE= This was a journalistic award, but there is a lot of communication in some way, let’s face it, even in music.
GIANLUCA= Well of course, music is also communication, it communicates emotions, so from this point of view we try to do our best to give people comfort, happiness and to accompany it as the soundtrack of their lives.
VOICE= You travel the world so successfully, but does your heart always stay here?
GIANLUCA= Obviously, never forget your roots which are the most important things and keeping them firmly helps you always remain yourself.

Many congratulations to Gianluca for this recognition. The people of Abruzzo adore you and recognize your merits.
We are very proud of the way you carry yourself in your private life as well as your public one!!

TIM MUSIC AWARDS and more by Daniela

So I promised you to continue with the translation of the RTL 102.5 interview, but these three young men: Piero, Ignazio and Gianluca, didn’t stop for a moment!!!
Let’s go in order:

Thursday 14 September

Private event in Rome, in the beautiful Villa Aurelia, organized by the VIP travel agency: I.D.I. TRAVER SRL.
There aren’t many videos or photos, but from that little we see a very beautiful location and a very elegant audience.

Friday 15 September

New program on RAI 1 hosted by Bruno Vespa, entitled “5 minutes”.
Short but really nice interview, Piero, Ignazio and Gianluca happy and relaxed, important news from Piero!!!
We’ve been missing “Uncle Bruno” interviews for a long time!!  😉
PIERO= Hi Bruno, we wanted to greet you and congratulate you on the new program.
GIANLUCA= We just returned from the tour in South America.
IGNAZIO= Do you have 5 minutes? (paraphrasing the show title) Just to tell you what happened.
GIANLUCA= So we’ll tell you everything.
PIERO= See you soon.
GIANLUCA= Hi!
VESPA= And here they are:
Piero Barone, tenor 30 years old Agrigento.
Ignazio Boschetto, 29 years old, Marsala/Bologna
Gianluca Ginoble 28 years old, Roseto Degli Abruzzi, only boyfriend.
GIANLUCA= Abruzzo like you.
VESPA= Like me. The other two womanizers. 😁😁
PIERO/IGNAZIO= No, no.
VESPA= I said it on purpose.
What have you done?
PIERO= Many things, we promised you our presence, we came to wish you a good season.
VESPA = And happy tour to you, because you never stop, now a minimum of stasis and then you start again.
PIERO= We leave in two days for this 2-month European tour. We are happy because we will sing in cities we have never been to, in Greece, we will also sing in Prague. We are happy because next year we will celebrate 15 years of our career…….
VESPA= ……speaking of career, when Antonella Clerici took you on TI LASCIO UNA CANZONE you were fifteen years old, and immediately had an extraordinary success in America, but in Italy no one knew you, so much so that 10 years ago, on 17 December 2013, you made your television debut here. Let’s see it. (a short video of that evening in 2013 appears)
GIANLUCA= The incredible thing is that we were older then than we are today, we have gotten younger over time.
VESPA= So, you went to Sanremo essentially to make yourself known to the general public.
PIERO= We went to Sanremo thanks to you.
GIANLUCA= Let’s say that you were one of the first to believe in us, before the Italian success, let’s say, because it all started with talent…..
VESPA= There was a song called Grande…. how does he do it? 😁
PIERO= (he mentions a refrain from Grande Amore a cappella)
VESPA= But did you know that you don’t sing badly? 😁😁😁
IGNAZIO= Let’s try.
PIERO= The public should know that we were undecided whether to go to Sanremo or not for that song, (Grande Amore) you listened to that song and said: “You have nothing to lose, go!”
VESPA= In fact, all you had to do was win!
Then the great duets began in America, Domingo, Anastacia, Barbra Streisand, then Ramazzotti and then remember Woody Allen? When we met him in New York.
IGNAZIO= Absolutely.
(a video starts that summarizes all those moments)
VESPA= How much fun we had in America.
So you have returned to Italy for the first time from a theatre, the Arcimboldi, a glorious theatre, among other things the general public got to know it when during the restoration of the street, La Scala moved there. Sold out, there you are.
GIANLUCA= Yes.
IGNAZIO= It was a wonderful experience, arriving in Italian theaters for the first time. We knew Arcimboldi from other television programs, having close contact with the public in Italy, having them close in a more intimate environment, was very interesting and beautiful.
VESPA= Sold out.
IGNAZIO= For 6 concerts…..
VESPA= Listen, but you also wrote the soundtrack…
IGNAZIO= By Makari, it was beautiful, it was interesting, I like the composition and therefore it is small satisfactions that unite us.
VESPA= (he turns to Piero) And do you remember when we sat in the seats at the Metropolitan?
PIERO= Yes.
VESPA= Your dream was to go there.
Right? Is he left? Are you growing it?
PIERO= It’s my goal.
And the most important thing is to persevere.
VESPA= How old?
PIERO= I believe and hope by 30. I have just turned 30, by the end of the year (by June 2024) I hope it happens.
IGNAZIO= I hope you reserve a place for me….
PIERO= No, not at the Metropolitan, debut with opera….
VESPA= Where, where….
PIERO= Let’s hope, I can’t say because we are still in the preliminary phase…
VESPA= Role, role??
PIERO= I hope for TRAVIATA, Alfredo!! ☺
VESPA= Ah, let’s start high…..and you boy (to Gianluca)
GIANLUCA= For me the objective of Il Volo is always the main one, then, who knows, then we’ll see, we are united and we are strong together.
IGNAZIO= However, if I may, I don’t know how much time we have, we want to thank you, because in these years you have given us fundamental support, especially in 2015, where you encouraged us to participate in Sanremo, because you were the first to say that We had nothing to lose anyway….
PIERO= …. and in 2013 to believe in us…
IGNAZIO= And then we want to wish you a good season, great success and lots of fun…
VESPA= You guys too! Good luck.
PIERO= Thank you.
VESPA= Are you going to Sanremo this year??
PIERO= Amadeus!!
IGNAZIO = Ama, Ama…..
GIANLUCA= Hi Amadeus!
VESPA= Hi Ama, are you taking them to Sanremo??
(with these sentences, it seems that Piero Ignazio and Gianluca want to say that the decision is up to Amadeus who is the artistic director of Sanremo and who decides who the competitors will be, so the three of them could have even proposed themselves). 😉

Saturday 16 September

Il Volo will be one of the guests scheduled for the evening at the Arena organized by TIM MUSIC AWARDS.
The evening was supposed to be live on RAI 1 but, due to the final volleyball match between Poland and Italy for the European Championships, the evening takes place on Saturday evening in the Arena and is broadcast on Sunday 17th on Rai 1.
Even if a big secret surrounded the evening, during the afternoon rehearsals it transpired that Il Volo will open the evening with the beautiful Hallelujah.
……..but it won’t be the only song.

TIM Music Awards – Click Here

(Il Volo opens the evening, without introduction and with a truly engaging Halleluja, then the presenters enter, Carlo Conti and Vanessa Incontrada)

CONTI= What a start!!!
VANESSA= Oh my goodness, we’re off to a great start here at the Tim Music Awards.
CONTI= Il Volo
VANESSA = With these three handsome boys.
CONTI= What a show (greetings)

VANESSA = What gentlemen
PIERO= Good evening Verona, good evening everyone.
IGNAZIO= It’s nothing new that I have a weakness for…. (Vanessa)
CONTI= What a start, what a powerful start.
Lights, crazy atmosphere, thanks also to your voice, the orchestra and the audience of the Verona Arena, in this magnificent place that you know well.
VANESSA= Next year 15 years of career.
IGNAZIO= Yes, let’s say we are getting older too.
VANESSA= All of us, me too.
IGNAZIO= Time passes for us too, we had a lot of fun.
CONTI= You will celebrate in the best way, the Arena is your home, we will be waiting for you soon, because we will see you again.
IGNAZIO= See you later.
PIERO= See you later (Il Volo exits)
VANESSA= What a great start.
CONTI= We started off great.
VANESSA= Yes, great.
(At this point the evening continues with many other singers. The video resumes with the mid-evening performance of Il Volo. There are three solo moments, the first is Ignazio performing from the royal stage with AT LEAST YOU IN THE UNIVERSE.
The second is Gianluca with ANGELS sung among the audience.
The third is Piero with E LUCEAN LE STELLE from the stage. At the end all three reunite with a short chorus of Grande Amore.)
VANESSA= They opened the evening of this TIM MUSIC AWARDS and obviously now they return to this stage. I, Carlo, would define them as the 3 musketeers of Italian music.
CONTI= Three unique, extraordinary voices, who are loved and known throughout the world, and truly perform with the same success not only in Italy, but from Japan to the United States, on the 5 continents, everywhere.
VANESSA= They are: Ignazio, Piero and Gianluca.
CONTI= Il Volo.
IGNAZIO= Arena, let’s turn on all the flashes (start the 3  pieces of solos followed by Grande Amore – applause)
CONTI= Il Volo!
VANESSA= I love this song so much. (Vanessa sings the chorus of the song) Here we are again.
CONTI= It seems like yesterday, you know that they won Sanremo, my first Sanremo in 2015…..I said:
“The Sanremo Festival wins with Grande Amore Il Volo”, it was 2015.
VANESSA= And look where they are now!
So, 2 million records, 1 billion views, millions of subscribers on the YouTube channel. What else do you want?
PIERO= But they are fake numbers come on…..
VANESSA+CONTI= But how are these fake numbers?
PIERO= But yes you said random numbers (piero is ironic, because these are the responses of certain young people or the press when they talk about Il Volo).
VANESSA= Yes, in fact they came to mind like this now. (Vanessa supports Piero’s game, because it is logical that she gives real news).
CONTI= Let’s do one thing, let’s move this way, so the masters (orchestra) whom I greet and thank, can leave.
PIERO= Ok.
IGNAZIO= The orchestra of Franciacorta ( a country  very close to my home)
PIERO= Carlo, Vanessa, can we tell you something very important for us?
VANESSA= Tell me, tell me, sure.
PIERO= We can’t say the day yet, but next spring we will have 3 big events here at the Verona Arena, the ALL FOR ONE concept, three big events where every evening there will be 10 guests…
CONTI= With you?
PIERO= Yes, here at the Verona Arena. So we are really happy to announce this event.
VANESSA= But it’s a scoop.
GIANLUCA= But then next year will be a year of great celebrations because we are celebrating 15 years of career.
VANESSA= Exactly, as I said before.
GIANLUCA= Exactly.
IGNAZIO= We will also have Carlo Conti as a guest who will sing with us for the first time.
CONTI= Sure, I guarantee it. All for One is a bit like your life philosophy.
IGNAZIO= Absolutely, we grew up together, it’s been 15 years now, unfortunately we’ve been together…. no, I’m joking!! (laughs) We have been together for 15 years and we really know each other better than our brothers, and sharing our music together, but above all with you (the audience), which in the end is thanks to all of you if we are here, so we are very grateful to our public and to the people who have followed us since day one. And in April 2024 he will even tour Japan.
IGNAZIO= Yes.
CONTI= Here are the prizes for you, a prestigious prize, the ARENA DI VERONA prize with this motivation:
FOR THE GREAT SUCCESS OF THE EVENTS AT THE VERONA ARENA TO WHICH THEY BROUGHT ALL THE SOUNDS OF MUSIC, OPERA, POP, ROCK AND GREAT SONGWRITING, as you also demonstrated tonight, MAKING THE PUBLIC EXPERIENCE A REAL JOURNEY INTO MUSIC THAT ONLY THREE GREAT ARTISTS OF TALENT AND SENSITIVITY LIKE IL VOLO COULD INTERPRET. Good guys! (applause)
GIANLUCA= Thank you
IGNAZIO= Thanks everyone.
PIERO= Thanks Verona.
(The DIVA award is given to them)
VANESSA= They are well deserved, good luck, see you next year.
PIERO= See you next spring, thanks everyone!
IGNAZIO= Thank you very much Verona!
VANESSA= Good evening.
PIERO= Thanks to all of you, have a good evening. (final greetings)

IGNAZIO= Hi guys, we are Il Volo.
PIERO= To all the friends of RAI Radio 2….
GIANLUCA = ???? ( He didn’t remember the phrase to say) 😁😁😁
IGNAZIO+PIERO and then GIANLUCA= We send a big hello!!

Rai Radio 2 interview with Il Volo and LaMario

LAMARIO= I remember when I saw you for the first time, I was younger too, but you were obviously children and now I find them again: grown up, cool, successful…..oh how beautiful life is!
IGNAZIO= Cool… I would be slow to say it….but…
LAMARIO= But it’s like this….
PIERO= Established yourself, but I wouldn’t say it…
GIANLUCA= Sweaty tonight…
IGNAZIO= We were lucky enough to do in life what we like, our passion, and it’s nice to grow together, 15 years have passed…
PIERO= We can say that we are privileged.
LAMARIO= I really like this consideration, but sorry, can you tell me the story of the Korean band? Because I’ve read it, but I’d like to hear it from you
IGNAZIO= We too saw it on social media.
LAMARIO= But they didn’t warn you?
PIERO= No.
LAMARIO= They didn’t even have the good heart to send you their piece for you to listen to?
PIERO= But they are strong. They are very strong, right Ignazio?
GIANLUCA= Ignazio didn’t like it very much…
IGNAZIO= No, why?
PIERO= I have to tell you that I like the Korean version of Ignazio, I prefer it. (laughter, Ignazio tries to make some Korean sounds)
I’d say it was a very intense weekend and the award at the Tim Music Awards was truly deserved.
And what about the news that Piero will soon be making an entire opera, fantastic!
And now off to Zurich immediately, the concerts begin!!
See you soon: Daniela 🤗

Il Volo Makes the Big Time on JEOPARDY!!

If you are a fan of JEOPARDY, you watched it tonight, June 15, 2023 and saw that Il Volo was part of a clue, in the category of Italian Words and Phrases!!!

I knew the first two and when the third popped up and I saw Il Volo, I went crazyI don’t even know if the contestants got the right answer or not.  I was texting our Il Volo group telling them!!  Chris, is the only one who saw it as well!!

Well, they’ve made the big time, being part of a clue on Jeopardy!  (of course the Rolling Stones “lyrics” had a category all to themselves in the first round, however…)  They have, in the past, been “sort” of clues, with various clues about songs they may have sung, or about Enio Morricone.  But this one had their name in TEXT ON THE SCREEN!!

My guess is that, more than likely, the contestants had no clue who Il Volo was, unfortunately.  As you didn’t really have to know who they were to get the right answer, which was Buon Natale!  But apparently, someone on the team that writes the clues, must be a fan!

Daniela – let’s hope the guys see this one!!  🙂

See clue/picture below….. 3rd clue, worth $1200

All of the category clues…

ANSWERS:

$400 – Piazza

$800 – Spumante

$1200 – Buon Natale!

$1600 – DAILY DOUBLE – adagio

$2000 – “don’t look a gift horse in the mouth” 🙂

P.S.  DON’T FORGET TO SEND IN YOUR WISHES FOR PIERO – LAST DAY IS JUNE 20, 2023!  SEND TO: ILVOLOFLIGHTCREW@GMAIL.COM
