Those of you who follow my stories follow the people who I follow. Those of you who are new to Il Volo or new to my stories, let me introduce you to Giada Luppi and let me tell you about The Three!
Giada Luppi is a world champion roller skater and she is also a phenomenal singer.
Let me start by telling you a little bit about Giada the skater.
Giada has a story that is very similar to Il Volo’s story because like Il Volo, from a very young age she has dedicated her life to her career ~ in her case, skating.
In October 2021, I wrote an article about Giada after she won the Junior World Figure Skating Championships. So, you might ask yourself, why am I, a writer who writes about Il Volo, writing a story about a World Championships Figure Skater? Read my story and you will know the answer.
Giada Luppi is from Crespellano-Valsamoggia, in the province of Bologna. She has been skating since she was five years old. She has won two European Championships and five Italian championships, and she has won the Junior World Figure Skating Championships. This translates to two European golds, in 2019 and in Riccione, two world championship silvers and five titles at the Italian championships. Her win was in the junior world champion in the free single program at the World Figure Skating Championship. An amazing career for the young Emilian skater. Her artistic skills, strength and gracefulness is a perfect mix that has allowed her in recent years to establish herself nationally and internationally. Always to the rhythm of music, which never fails in her workouts, Giada prefers to work out to a lot of soul music, including Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston, Alicia Keys, but also Giorgia, Mia Martini, Mina, Alex Britti.
Over the last week, we couldn’t help but notice Giada’s great achievements! She won the 2023 Italian Figure Skating Championships and she released a new song! Principe!
Giada has a beautiful voice that I could listen to all day! She has a soulful voice that is very expressive, and her passionate delivery is always impeccable! It’s amazing that such feelings come from so young a singer. She has feelings and emotions that usually come along with age. She’s deep!
Whether skating or singing, Giada always gives her best. She delivers on the rink and she delivers on the stage. I see a beautiful future for Giada!
After winning her medal, Giada posted…
I’ve been skating for 15 years now, yet every single time I enter the track it’s like it’s the first, it’s an unmanageable, terrifying and wonderful emotion…Indescribable…
I am proud to have been able to compete in the first place, despite my bone edema that I have been carrying with me since October and above all I am happy to have been able to choreograph both programs this year … I really hope that my emotions can be bounced from my heart to the track and to all the people who have followed me.
This Italian championship has been a tornado of emotions… Maybe the best of my entire career, maybe my biggest revenge… in short, a huge satisfaction.
I want to thank all the people who believed in me, sometimes even more than I believed in myself.
Giada thanked he coaches and her team for all their support and for being a second family to her.
Giada went on to thank, “my wonderful friends for always being close to me, and finally my Wonderful Angel ~ thank you for all the work we have done together, for training me with your patience and your love, for being there as a friend, for always being there at all times without ever leaving me … My beautiful butterfly this is our dream, we realized it together and it’s all ours… I miss you to💔 death.”
Who is this Angel Giada referring to?
Perhaps this interview will explain it!
Interviewer: Giada Luppi for the first time Italian Senior Champion even a little surprisingly, Ponte di Legno gold medal. How did it go?
Giada: I am very happy because I have returned from a bad injury which is always one of the wounds always that of last year’s world championships which I carry with me very sadly, but at the same time I am very happy for having brought home another medal and above all in the maximum missed category which was really an unexpected result for me and for all my team but I’m satisfied all the sacrifices were found screaming, second, second place.
Interviewer: What made the difference even with so much competition?
Giada: Yes, lots and lots of competition. And what made the difference I believe it is always mental work, ultimately mental and yes, be mentally ready, be ready to attack the track, despite the level being very high, always focus on yourself and try to give your best by thinking do not frustrate the work done at home.
Interviewer: What about these past very difficult months, I know there is a special dedication for this victory too.
Giada: Yes, I dedicated my medal to Michele Sica. He is a friend of mine and former coach who, however, has now flown to heaven (died). It was very exciting to skate for him because I believe he was there with me in sight always and I have to say I feel him. I just feel the presence of his person. He was always with me, and this gives me so much strength.
The relationship we had was both a friend of mine because we aged together for so many years and he also was my coach and my idol. When I was little he was already Segna in the top category, and he really always won. He was so much to me! It was truly an honor for me to recognize him, it is a great pain.
As you can see Giada is a phenomenal skater but what does this have to do with Ignazio and Michele. Giada, the singer, is produced and managed by Ignazio and Michele.
Giada has a very clear idea about her future. “I will compete a few more years because I think I have already dedicated so much of my life to skating and then I would like to devote myself completely to music.”
Certainly, Giada is not ready to hang up her skates. Giada’s proves skating and singing are not incompatible activities. She would like to carry on these two passions, on the model of the R&B star Usher.
Giada says, “Skating is part of my life, while singing started as an outlet and then became a necessity, something I can’t do without.”
So, what does Giada say about what skating does for her? “It brings out my personality!” And what a personality she has.
Let me say one final word about Giada, the skater. Skating is her whole life, and Giada credits her mother for always being there for her. She has a mother who supports her and leads her by inspiration.
Giada said of her mother: “You and I always lift each other up. You are my light!”
In Giada I see a lot of the qualities of Ignazio.
So now let’s turn to Ignazio…
Enter Ignazio!
He is the voice that never ends! The voice that intrigues! The voice that takes your breath away! The voice that leads you to ecstasy!
During the pandemic, Ignazio proved to us that being in quarantine doesn’t quarantine your mind. No, it opens your mind to different ways of producing! This video showed just how brilliant this man is. He wouldn’t be held back by his circumstances. He felt a need to produce and even though the moment didn’t allow it, he found a way to overcome his confinement and sing out! An absolutely phenomenal performance by Ignazio! And let’s not forget the amazing men who accompanied him. Giampiero Grani, Alessandro Quarta, Bruno Farinelli, Gino de Vita, Pierluigi Mingotti and Andrea Morelli.
Ignazio’s experience and love of the production has led him to take a giant step into his future!
It seems our, sexy, romantic, Italian tenor/producer knows how to move and shake in the music industry!
If there’s one thing I can say about Ignazio, he is a dreamer and he always has his eyes open for young talent. Ignazio’s dream is to help other young people have the opportunity he had along with Piero and Gianluca.
From when he was on the competition circuit, Ignazio always wanted healthy competition and fair opportunities for everyone. His failure to see this in the competitions led him to almost give up his dreams. He never wants to see that happen to another young person. What better way to help these young people than to give them the opportunity to record with a small label run by a very famous person who is the epitome of music!
I predict that someday that small label will become a leader in the music industry!
Let’s talk about that label!
In January 2020 Ignazio, at age 25 started his own production company ~ Floki Productions. Does that surprise you? It doesn’t surprise me. It makes a lot of sense to me.
Floki Productions I’m sure is Ignazio’s dream.
And how did Ignazio come up with the name Floki for his production company? He says….
I took the name of my label from the Viking shipbuilder Hrafna-Floki Vilgerðarson. As a fan of the TV series Vikings, Floki seemed like the right reference for the desire to get involved in this new adventure, because if you want to reach the continent from an island you can jump into the sea at the risk of drowning or invent something.
Working through a small label gives you the opportunity to follow means, believing in people even before the project and following them step by step in their path, discarding logic on the side.
Ignazio signed Giada Luppi to a contract with Floki in 2021!
I mention that Giada has some of Ignazio’s qualities. For one, she is very determined, she is also sweet, and kind and she loves sharing her life and her career with her fans.
Giada like Ignazio is a song writer. She has written over 60 songs! So, I have to ask the same question that I’ve asked Ignazio. When do you sleep? She must be taking lessons from Ignazio!
And who might her manger be?
Enter Michele Torpedine….
With her debut single, in collaboration with Ignazio and manager Michele Torpedine, she entered what she hoped would become her career in the entertainment world. But in the meantime, Giada says, “I dream of singing and skating together, why not? I will compete for a few more years, then my life will be music.”
Giada continues, “In the future I would like to continue to walk the road of music, but without hanging up my skates. I will compete a few more years because I think I have already dedicated so much of my life to skating and I would like to devote myself completely to music.”
It seems Michele and Ignazio are happy to walk that road with Giada.
In his book, Michele talks about the guys and how when he met them, he met the right people. Michele said….
I have many enemies, which will increase after this book but, I met the right people: Gianluca Ginoble, Ignazio Boschetto and Piero Barone.
Yes, as you can tell from the title of the book, when I met them and put them together as a trio, they were so young… to think that ten years have already passed! With them and with their families, good people, a relationship was born that goes far beyond the professional one.
Together we joke and laugh, then we get serious, enjoying worldwide successes: but the human side, their being real and clean, for me is an added value, which is priceless. And, especially in this environment, is a rare commodity.
It’s so hard to be told ‘thank you.’ For this reason, the boys, Gianluca, Piero and Ignazio are different: grateful, so much so that I had to tell them to stop making my name and thanking me during interviews or at the end of the concerts, everything seems prepared.
Michele has always been thankful for being able to get back into the game with such honest young men. Recently Michele talked about this at an event which he attended with Giada. No doubt Michele decided to take Giada on because he saw in her a nice respectable young lady who has values like the guys and who will allow him to continue on this wonderful path of honesty and integrity.
So, this is also the story of how Michele found a new life first in Il Volo and now in Giada. The best way to explain this is probably to say Michele realized after Il Volo that honesty and truth can be found in the young.
Recently, Michele joined Giada at the Eurocommunication Awards. It was an award ceremony dedicated to women where Giada won the award for her dedication to sports and fair play in the sport!
To reward Giada’s already consolidated sporting career was Ruggero Alcanterini, National President of the Italian Fair Play Committee, who gave the young champion an official CONI badge.
Below the video is some of what was said by Michele and Giada.
Michele is a record producer, television personality, drummer and Italian music manager of high-level artists.
Interviewer: We are with Michele Torpedine producer to the stars.
Michele talks about some people who he managed before Il Volo then he talked about Il Volo.
Michele: Let’s begin with the afternoon of the three. I had many disappointments, despite all that I had.
At a certain point, the director of Ti Lascio una Canzone had an idea to put the three together for a song.
I signed them immediately.
As to Giada, Michele said, “We rely on her, and we know that she will be participating in a new era of music. I certainly hope it is condensed very well.
Interviewer: Giada is a world champion of figure skating who has also launched herself into the world of entertainment most recently with the beautiful song “Principe.”
Interviewer (to Giada): Thank you very much. We are already ready for the artistic roller-skating champion who is starting a new adventure.
Giada: Actively I’m trying to throw myself into my musical bed. Because in addition to my recent passion for figure skating and being led to win a championship this year, I have a totally different matter which is singing music and so I’m trying to bring myself to this stage where I would like to transform my life. I would like to transform the music and my position level of my work.
Interviewer: And so how much of your sporting life are you putting to help you.
Giada:In my musical world in any case, I want to bring music and sport together and as much as possible I am always part of music and the music I feel as part of the sport. So, I’m trying to integrate everything and bring it together myself. That is, that the will always wins so much more.
What I will say about Michele is something I always say about Ignazio. He is, they are, brilliant!
The genius of Michele will live on in Ignazio!
In my interview, I asked Giada the question that everyone is thinking about right now. “How did you meet Michele and Ignazio?”
Giada said:I was at a competition in 2018 and I met Michele. Not long after that he contacted me, and we started a collaboration. After that he introduced me to Ignazio. Most of the work with Michele right now is to combine the music with the skating.
My final question to Giada was, “What would you like people to know about you.”
Giada: I dedicate myself a lot to songwriting. I write my songs on piano.
It seems Giada is also an accomplished pianist who writes her own songs.
I told you I see a lot of Ignazio in Giada. A very ambitious young lady who takes her career in skating and singing into her own hands and makes a beautiful presentation whether singing or skating! She is a composer, singer and skater who choreographs her own programs for competition! Again I have to ask the question! Do you ever sleep?
So now you have heard the story of The Three no, not Il Volo but Ignazio, Giada and Michele. I can see that Giada has had a phenomenal career in skating and I have no doubt she will have a phenomenal career as a singer!
For your listening pleasure I give you the REAL THREE!

If any one of the three is different, it is Gianluca. What is it about Gianluca that makes him so different from Piero and Ignazio? Let’s start with his childhood. While Piero and Ignazio were busy with their singing lessons and piano lessons, Gianluca was busy living out his passions! Gianluca has never had a singing lesson in his life. Unbelievable, right!
As to his music, it was always his passion. Yes, Gianluca has more than one passion, but it is this passion that got him to Ti Lascio una Canzone.
Gianluca was shy as a child. He would turn his face to the wall and sing, but this didn’t mean he didn’t enjoy singing, on the contrary, he loved it. In fact, he said “I sang because it made me happy!” And this happiness became his passion.
So, let’s examine his passion, his amazing voice
Gianluca is a lyrical baritone. He is exceptional because he can sing from the lowest to the highest note in the baritone range. Most baritones are limited in range. Gianluca’s voice is huge. He has a very rich chest resonance which creates a feeling of depth and drama in his voice.
A baritone’s voice is very romantic, very pleasing to listen to and is always inviting. Most songs are written for baritones. Gianluca starts, almost, every song. Why? In order for a song to be received well you must draw your audience into it. Gianluca’s voice draws you in in a romantic way and you hang on to every note. He can mesmerize you with songs like “Mi Mancherai” where he reaches into the depth of your being. His interpretation of “Surrender” is electrifying. But, when Gianluca sings, “She’s Always a Woman”, he takes your breath away. The highs, the lows, the emotion, the expression. His voice expands like nothing I ever heard before. He has total command of the song. You walk away with your senses lifted to another level.
So how did his voice become the phenomenal voice that it is today? Let’s look back to see what Gianluca had to say about this….
When I was about eight or nine years old, all those who knew me gave me the same advice: go sing in a choir. In Roseto there was the Piccolo Choir of Roses directed by the master Susy Paola Rizzo. The choir was nice because we studied the songs throughout the winter season, not the technique of singing, the songs. It was different, because we did not study the notes and how to do them, rather we studied instinctively, following what the teacher said and what our ear heard. Then, in the summer, we performed in the Municipality of Roseto. We sang in the squares during the local festivals, in the lidos, in the bathing establishments, around the whole of Abruzzo, all these tiny villages.
Obviously studying to sing instinctively was enough to get Gianluca to Ti Lascio una Canzone. In fact, because of his instinctive singing in the Roseto Choir he was discovered and off to Rome he went!
On the stage at Ti Lascio una Canzone, we find Gianluca singing with some famous Italian entertainers.
When Gianluca sang “Il Mare Calmo della Sera” with world renowned tenor Gianluca Terranova, Terranova was surprised by Gianluca’s amazing voice.
And who can forget the duet with Riccardo Cocciante.
Gianluca stunned the audience with his beautiful “Ave Maria!”
Gianluca and Sara Pischedda topped it off with a duet of “Vivo per lei.” Beautiful young voices flowing together.
But where has this passion for singing led Gianluca. Ten years into his career Gianluca spoke to Luca Maggitti of the Roseto Star about the most amazing adventure of his life. He begins….
The happiness of having made my passion my job: not everyone has this great privilege in life. This fills my heart with joy and gives meaning to everything.
At home with his family for Christmas in 2020 Gianluca said…
I was thinking about it these days, sitting at the table with my family. During the Christmas holidays, I return to the memory of many beautiful moments, and I tell myfamily about them. And when I remember certain moments, it seems almost like a fairy tale. Sometimes I would like to pinch myself and ask myself: but did it all really happen?
Thinking about the first ten years, Gianluca says…
The basic awareness that everything has happened, ennobled by the slight naivety of those who find it difficult to believe in it, as long as I have this childish genuineness, I will have the strength to do better and better.
And Gianluca talked about traveling around the world ten times and what he brought back from these visits.
The greatest emotion of all is the incredulity of seeing countries and peoples in the world so different from each other in everything – culture, traditions, food, religion, behaviors – but they are united by their passion for our musical genre. From the composed and attentive Japanese audience to the most passionate and wild South American, the common trait is our songs. This is really incredible, because I think it is also the strength of bel canto, which manages to unite people who seem to be very far away.
Every concert is special to me, because it is a blessing. I love to sing and in this long period of stop I sing every day, in my house. So, when I have the pleasure of doing it for the audience it’s always a wonderful moment for me. Wanting to build a podium, obviously we start from the one in New York, which received a very important recognition that surprised and honored us. Then, linking myself to the previous reflection, I would like to recall the beauty of two concerts held at opposite sides of the world: the one at the Bunkamura in Tokyo and the one at the Luna Park in Buenos Aires. In Japan the audience was extremely calm, silent, very attentive. In Argentina, on the other hand, there was a much warmer and more visceral atmosphere. The thing that unites these two concerts is the passion of those who came to listen to us and, therefore, the magic of seeing different people united by music.
The true Gianluca comes alive in the playfulness of his beautiful delivery of “La Danza.”
Gianluca talks about music being the oxygen of his life….
In the affection of my family and in the serenity of Montepagano, I have to wait for the pandemic to pass and for there to be security conditions for everyone. Only in this way will we be able to return to the concert and be happy again, united by the music that for me is the oxygen of my life.
This oxygen is evident in Gianluca’s beautiful interpretation of “Bridge over Troubled Water”
After each concert, Gianluca reflects on how it went….
Humanly speaking, the habit of traveling and the pleasure of always adapting to new circumstances, the tears of joy of thepublic, the facets and sensations that the work I do which is the most beautiful in the world gives me, professionally speaking, my reflections on how it went and how the concert was, after each performance.
Yes, it is very important out of respect for those who come to listen to us and to always improve ourselves. One thing that strikes me is the ability I have developed, over the years, to perceive the reactions of the public to our concerts and, specifically, to my performance. I think I have the right empathy to feel people’s emotions when I sing.
Gianluca has a certain sensitivity to the audience, and he reflects on this each time….
My sensitivity tells me if the audience liked something or not, if I could do it better. I am extremely self-critical, and this allows me to understand if everything went well or when and where I could do better. And, with a bit of presumption, I dare to tell you that I am rarely wrong. So, when after a concert I tell myself that I could have done this or that thing better, I take action to do it better on the next date. And in a world tour of 50 dates, continuous improvement is possible and necessary.
At the Latin Billboard Awards in 2013, the guys sang “El Triste.” This is when you really meet Il Volo. Truly three voices become one! A Symphony of Love
Meanwhile, having acquired self-awareness, learning to manage one’s emotions and empathy, avoiding any authoritarianism. Then the strength to believe in yourself to convey trust to the people around you and who share this wonderful and challenging journey with you, because there is always a need for security and we who are the leaders of a project must be an example, certainly remaining humble but aware of our value, just to protect the beauty of what has been built and protect all those who are part of our home.
At Radio City Music Hall, the guys bring the fans to their feet with every song!
Gianluca explains how over the last ten years he has grown by more than his 25 years of age.
I believe it is the result of a path of growth, of the books I read and of the people whoenrich you with their reflections and their examples. I think there is always a reason for success. And if success – excuse the pun – keeps happening, there’s a reason. So, since for many people you are a point of reference, while remaining a human being and therefore vulnerable, you must do everything to be a positive example, a charismatic leader who transmits security and serenity. Of course, this is a path and I have learned it over the years. At the beginning I was much shyer and more reserved, but then the world tours and experiences tempered me, now, I think positively.
And of course, like Piero and Ignazio, Gianluca awaits the day when they will return to the concerts….
The desire is to be able to return to live those wonderful moments, the hope is that this will happen as soon as possible, because it would mean a world healed and divided. Quoting the great Lucio Dalla: ‘I am preparing.’
The collaboration between brothers is extraordinary and in “Por una Cabeca,” Gianluca shines, and they share a very special moment.
Gianluca’s passion has taken him around the world ten times and on the world tours, Gianluca brings along his other passion. His passion for his country! He is the perfect Ambassador for Abruzzo! When he speaks about Abruzzo and about Italy, in general, on his tours he brings his fans a passion that is very close to his heart! Like music and country, Gianluca has a passion for family and soccer. Combine the four passions and you have His Story, His Passion! His Way!
Join me next week as I go back Through the Fields of My Mind and open the door to a new adventure!
In Italy, February is considered the month of Sanremo.
This year, due to the pandemic, Sanremo will be there, but it has been scheduled for early March, and will also be without an audience.
It is thanks to Sanremo that I really got to know and started followingIl Volo.
But how many times have Piero, Gianluca and Ignazio been in Sanremo on the Ariston stage?
In reality, really many times, because the filming of TI LASCIO UNA CANZONE, took place right at the Ariston Theater, but now, we are talking only about Sanremo.
2010
In 2010, the running of the Sanremo festival was entrusted to Antonella Clerici.
As we all know, Antonella has always been proud of her three little tenors. That year in Sanremo there will be Queen Rania of Jordan and Antonella decides to pay homage to the Queen, with a beautiful little show of her three little tenors.
What little kids, but what big voices. So sweet, close to Queen Rania of Jordan and Antonella.
They still had a long way to go and a lot of study to face.
2015
2015 is the year of triumph.A more than deserved victory and popularity also in Italy, where they were not so well known.
Here are our guys on the Sanremo red carpet, before the singing competitions begin.
The first evening was the consecration.
An explosion of joy and skill, welcomed the audience who was enchanted !!
Gianluca’s tears of emotion … It was February 11, the day of his twentieth birthday !!
It was the beginning of their worldwide adventure.
In the second evening, the evening dedicated to covers, Il Volo performed ANCORA.
Piero, Gianluca and Ignazio have decided to present themselves as competitors again.
The race was beautiful, but the quality jury deliberately gave them very low, undeserved votes and then there was the scandal of the journalists who said bad words about Il Volo and recommended not to vote them so as not to let them win again.
Here they are upon their arrival in Sanremo, on the red carpet.
Instead their song MUSICA CHE RESTA was very popular with the audience and once again showed them so much love.
And then the night they sang with Alessandro Quartaand his fantastic violin. Very good, all the audience standing, lots of applause …. and the critics gave them the lowest rating …. incredible.
Despite all the low grades, Il Volo is lovingly supported by the home crowd and so in the end it comes third.
It was a nice roundup of appearances, but I’m sure there will be other opportunities to see Il Volo in Sanremo, both as guests and as competitors, because they can do it and because they certainly have the support of all of us- their fans who love them so much.
A couple of days ago, a photo of the maestro Alessandro Quarta appeared on Facebook, whom we all remember he accompanied with his violin the performance of “Musica Che Resta” on the fourth evening of Sanremo 2019, very special photo, because it portrayed him in a bed in the hospital.
Here he is.
Accompanied by this, his comment:
TORNERÒ più Forte di Prima, questo è SICURO!!!!!
Dovevo togliere qualcosa di troppo nel mio corpo, qualcosa che non era gradito!!! Ma sto bene, anzi…più forte di prima!!!
Un grosso abbraccio a tutti amici miei e vi terrò aggiornato quotidianamente
Ale
I WILL COME BACK Stronger Than Before, This is SAFE ❤ !!!!!
I had to remove something too much in my body, something that was not welcome !!! But I’m fine, indeed … stronger than before !!!
A big hug to all my friends and I’ll keep you updated daily. ❤
Ale
Many of us wished him a speedy recovery, thinking of some small intervention, even Michele Torpedine commented:
Mick Torp: Hi Alessandro I can’t imagine how much you will be stronger than before … given the previous level !!!!!! A lot IN THE MOUTH OF THE WOLF !!!
Today Alessandro published a video, which moved us very much, and left us all speechless, and which I translate for you.
As you can see, I am about to be discharged from the Bolzano Hospital.
What happened? I’ll explain it to you right away. A tumor of 8×5 cm, here, located between the vascular bundle of the neck, and the cranial nerves, as well as at the point where the violin rests.
In the last three years I was struggling to hold the violin (he means still on the neck), it escaped me and it had never happened ….. to try to keep it still I made movements with my head (he makes the movement and it feels bad and then he says) ouch, I have to make it slower (the movement, otherwise it causes pain), because I felt it (the violin) escape from the neck, as if someone was pushing it away and it was this “Easter egg” in here.
I was very afraid,…. yes, however,…. “what does not kill us strengthens us.” Nobody knew.
I thank Professor Luca Calabrese, European luminary, for face and neck cancers, the Bolzano hospital who treated me and where everyone pampered me in a wonderful way.
And then I thank all of you, you have been many, many, many, many, you have been close to me, you have given me courage, strength.
Who stops Alessandro Quarta?
I’ll come back stronger than before, guys, the lion of the savannah will come back, the pirate … call me whatever you want …. nobody stops me.
I am tired of Covid, I want to return to you, we hope that this Covid disappears as soon as possible, I can’t take it anymore. I want to live again.
I don’t give a damn about money, I want to live, I want to play in front of you (wipes a tear).
What the hell do you do with money if you get cancer and die!
Thank you, for being close to me, and see you very soon, strength!!
“What doesn’t kill you strengthens you.” Bye.
It was really a great shock to see this man, who looks like an indestructible rock, get “naked” and thank us for giving him strength and courage.
Alessandro, the warmth of your audience has arrived.
You’ve been through a tough time, but we’re sure you’ll come back strong and confident to what your home is also, the stage.
We will all be there to applaud you, because you are good, but also because we LOVE YOU !!
This year is also the tenth anniversary of another event, but very sad, that concerned Italy at that time – the Aquila earthquake – a series of seismic shocks that destroyed most of the villages of Abruzzo in the province of Aquila and claimed 309 victims.
We all know that Gianluca Ginoble is a native of Abruzzo, and we know his sensitivity to his homeland, which he loves so much. Several times I heard from Gianluca that he wanted to do something, really useful for this land.
I am sure that Gianluca will have pushed a lot for this event and, knowing the sensibility of Ignazio and Piero, surely he will not have done much to convince them.
The event was announced by TG ROSETO, with this article from which I translate the most important parts.
On 26 August at 9.30 pm at the Teatro del Perdono, Piazzale di Collemaggio, the Music Show, stories and emotions entitled “Il Volo per L’Aquila” will be held, which will be accompanied by the Grand Symphony Orchestra of the Italian Conservatories, conducted by master Leonardo De Amicis.
The musical group of Il Volo, Gianluca Ginoble, Ignazio Boschetto, Piero Barone and have decided to pay homage to the city of L’Aquila on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the earthquake giving up their compensation, lending their voices and their talent for free with the will of leave something beautiful and real to the city.
Places on the Prato are free. The 1500 chairs are paid and everyone will pay, even the authorities. The proceeds of the tickets will be used to support boys who will be trained at the conservatory.
(photo during the rehearsals of the concert)
Really a beautiful initiative, thanks to the great heart and the availability of Gianluca, Piero and Ignazio, very commendable.
I liked a passage on the article, it was written that everyone, including personalities, will pay for the ticket (only 15 euros). Yes, because here, in the various concerts, often the celebrities or at least the personalities, enter without paying. Unseemly.
With the boys, on the stage, there will also be Alessandro Quarta.
Another thing that pleased me to read about the article, is that the orchestra conductor will be Leonardo De Amicis, the one who directed them in TI LASCIO UNA CANZONE, remember?
Here they are, together in this photo.
Gianluca, 10 years ago, sang for the L’Aquila earthquake, you remember a little child who was singing Gounod’s “AVE MARIA”, also this year IL VOLO, will dedicate a particular song, during this event and it will be “AVE MARIA MATER MISERICORDIAE”.
Guys, there is no song more beautiful and suitable than this one. You will sing it with all your heart and we will listen to you with great affection.
It rained in the afternoon, big clouds are still in the sky, and now the show begins.
And here’s to the TGR Abruzzo news, what they said about them.
PR = Waiting in L’Aquila for the IL VOLO concert.
Full of appointments, the PERDONANCE program, many tourists in the city.
We connect live with L’Aquila, where the 725th edition of the PERDONANCE is going on, tonight there will be the IL VOLO concert, live for you with Gianluca Ginoble interviewed by Daniela Senepa.
DS= I’m here on the stage of Collemaggio, where there is rehelase of IL VOLO that is trying the AVE MARIA. Sorry everyone, we are the TGR of Abruzzo, turn to the camera, excuse yourself guys from the orchestra. IL VOLO, for AQUILA, you are trying the Ave Maria, there is truly your embrace for this city, which is trying to re-rise.
P = We are very close to this city, also because 10 years ago, when the tragedy happened, we were at TI LASCIO UNA CANZONE, the program where we met, we lived fully that moment, there was also the maestro De Amicis, maestro , come here beside us.
DS= Here behind me, on the other hand, there is an extraordinary violin, we listened to the tests and I assure you that my heart beats fast, then when it sings IL VOLO, accompanied by these orchestral boys is a very important moment, (she he turns to Ignazio), because it’s not just your art, but also what you dedicate it to, so it’s a very important moment.
I= Absolutely, we are honored to be here and to be able to sing for all the Aquilans, and above all for all the people who came here to give a symbol of solidarity, for what happened 10 years ago, all united together, music, art, and that’s what we do every day. We must say thank you, certainly to Leonardo De Amicis, who invited us, and we could not say no, but thanks also to Alessandro Quarta, he too, like us, came to help, to spend an evening in music, all together.
DS = Gianluca, I’ll call you by name, because you were born here, you’re from Abruzzo, born in Roseto. Teramo has suffered a lot from the earthquakes of central Italy, I know that for you, it is a strong emotion, every time.
G= Yes, I’m not from L’Aquila, but I feel a little for Aquila, because 10 years ago, immediately after the earthquake, in the following months, they moved many Aquilans to the coast, so many were boys of my age, I made friends with them, but then, I never saw them again. Maybe tonight they will be here and we will sing for them and for all the inhabitants of the Aquila who are here to spend moments of joy and happiness.
Is evening, the tickets are all sold out, people arrive with great traffic difficulties and parking.
But then it all begins, and “it is music, the real one that remains.”
“IL MONDO”
“MUSICA CHE RESTA”
“GRANDE AMORE”
At the beginning this next video, the master De Amicis, says that he has known the boys since they were really small, and he finds them again, after 10 years, grown up, sensitive and immensely artistically, a gift to the Aquila and to all the people.
Then he calls the mayor, to offer the boys a little recognition.
The mayor says that they have seen so many concerts in L’Aquila, but they have rarely seen so many people, so much emotion, for such an event, which has joyfully paralyzed Aquila. “You have given us indescribable emotions, I thank you from the bottom of my heart.”
(in the photo the boys with the maestro De Amicis and the mayor of L’Aquila)
Here is another short video by a fan:
“MUSICA CHE RESTA”
“A CHI MI DICE”
In this photo, during their stay in L’Aquila, Gianluca, Ignazio and Piero also had time to visit a summer camp for small children.
But still, a series of beautiful shots of the event.
Guys, I have no more words and I want to conclude with these shared by Gianluca. Mr. Ercole Ginoble shared it with the maestro De Amicis.

“Abruzzo is a wonderful land for many reasons. The biggest reason is the emotion that provokes seeing a city wounded in the depths, like L’Aquila, react to one of the most disconcerting tragedies that nature can unleash with such great strength! At 10 years from that earthquake, seeing 20 thousand people warm a square there made you more proud to be there last night! ” ❤️
