The citizens of Montepagano, they want to wish well to their fellow citizen, Gianluca, and his family.
A few days ago, even if IL VOLO did not get the first place in Sanremo, the citizens decided to have a nice party in the square, in honor of Gianluca.
These sentences are extracted from an article in the local newspaper:
Everything is ready for the big party. Gianluca Ginoble, fresh from the prestigious podium of SanRemo 2019, will return to his country Sunday evening at 6 in Montepagano who prepares him a welcome with due honors.
Gianluca Ginoble is the pride of the entire city of Roseto degli Abruzzi, but above all the ancient village of the City of Roses, are ready to stretch, symbolically, a red carpet to the one who in these years, has brought up all the pride of our country.
In Montepagano, the Pro Loco, the Fan Club and the BereBene bar organized the celebrations. An entire country awaits him with open arms. The appointment has been set for him with banners and more. There will really be everyone there.
The preparations were hectic in the village while Gianluca was in Paris. And on his return, the party was ready in the square. The citizens were so many, it was certainly a moment of great joy for Gianluca.
But let’s see some images.
Gianluca with his father and his grandfather.
Mayor = Good, and thank you for what you do, for Italy, because we need to keep our name high.
Thanks to you for what you do for Roseto, because the reflection that you have as a person on our country is great.
This photo gallery is beautiful.
GIANLUCA GINOBLE: THE QUIET STAR.
Montepagano di Roseto degli Abruzzi, Sunday 17 February 2019.
Festival of the community of Montepagano, organized to pay homage to Gianluca Ginoble and Il Volo, after the 3rd place at the 69th Sanremo Festival with the song “Musica che resta”.
I had the pleasure of interviewing Gianluca Ginoble in front of so many people, outdoors, simply. Nothing screams and no unnecessarily high tones, because the important things are said better in a calm voice.
An intense chat came out of it, thanks to the reflections of Gianluca who a couple of times was also moved.
And in those moments when his eyes were touched with tears, talking about his family and the values that he transmitted of his beloved land of Abruzzo, the uselessness of living badly envying and hurting others.
Luca Maggitti,journalist.
And here is the interview by Luca Maggitti. (Click on the Twitter post above to view the video.)
LM = How much did it hurt, to you three, to see that video and now, you, Ignazio and Piero, where you are with this thing, how you are living it.
GG = But you must know that I, by character, I slip, all over me.(You know when it rains? The water wets you, but it slips away, that is, once dry it leaves no trace on you, it has not affected your person …… the same is the meaning of this first sentence….. even if the things said by the journalists, they are very bad, Gianluca intends that those words leave no trace of malice in him, nor even of rancor, it is like saying that he has swept away from his shoulders all the bad words.) I do not hate anyone, absolutely, because, you can also make mistakes, not in a press room in Sanremo, in a place like this, it should be a party, so it should not happen there. Everyone can make mistakes, in the end, of course forgive them, they are important people, the journalist in Sanremo and the music critic are important. The people are the ones who command at the end, (applause), the televoting is the most important thing. In the end, they can criticize, they can express their taste, because in any case they talk about musical tastes and may not even like our music. We do not have the presumption of pleasing all, absolutely, it would be stupid.
One thing is, the news, one thing is criticism, one thing is the offense.
Somehow, thanks to this thing, they are learning to know each other, they are really knowing who we are, as people, because I can understand that sometimes, repeating so many times “international success, they go around the world,” risk to have the effect on the contrary. People can be envious, they can be bad, they can express their negative thinking, but never fall into the offense. We, thanks to this Sanremo, somehow, we managed to get into people’s hearts, not only with the voices, but also as a person, what we really are, not just us (IL VOLO), but nobody deserves to have that treatment. (applause)
And here is a beautiful article published after the party and which I translate for you.
MONTEPAGANO – A starry sky, on a February evening with an unusually mild climate, a long banner and the notes of “Musica che Resta” framing the ancient village of Montepagano. This is the atmosphere with which yesterday evening a crowded square, not only of Paganesi but also of many fans arrived from different areas of Italy, has prepared to welcome the young talent from Abruzzo.
A party in honor of Gianluca Ginoble who returns to the native village of Montepagano, after having won the third place of the podium at the Sanremo Festival with Il Volo. A party announced a few days ago and that is part of the tenth anniversary of IL VOLO that began to take its first steps in 2009, with the participation in the Clerici program, “Ti lascio una canzone” (“I leave you a song”).
Gianluca arrives at 6.00 pm, welcomed by a thunderous applause. Peaceful and smiling he greets and opens with an interview in the square, moderated by a journalist. Gianluca appears visibly excited and calm, just as they are used to seeing him, his fellow citizens who have reserved for him a welcome, as an international star.
A recognition not only to the artist but also to his two traveling companions, Ignazio Boschetto and Piero Barone, who have made Italy known throughout the world and continue to represent with grace and style.
But how has Gianluca changed during these 10 years?
Walking through the village and collecting people’s impressions, comes the portrait of an affable and genuine boy, attached to his roots and his family. They tell us about Gianluca as one of them, calling him “Our Gianluca”. One who when he returns to his small village stops to take coffee at the bar of the village and does not miss an opportunity to greet and exchange jokes with everyone. One who could spend his summer holidays who knows where, but who chooses to go back home and stay on the beach of Roseto, with the affections of all time; one who at happy hour prefers football matches with friends.
Il Volo in their artistic career has trod the most prestigious stages, and known world-renowned artists. Following the steps of Bocelli and Pavarotti he succeeded in spreading the refinement of the bel canto also abroad and exponentially raising our country in the world.
An ascent in the Olympus of music, culminated with the victory of Sanremo 2015 with a niche music genre, but which in recent years is gathering more and more acclaim and that allowed them to know not only great personalities of the music world. In November, in fact, they enchanted Trieste singing the Inno di Mameli in front of President Mattarella while, last January, they performed in front of Pope Francis during the World Youth Day in Panama. Gianluca, despite his success, has appeared as the boy of all time who, with his simple and courteous ways, was able to make the Abruzzo geographically known also to Woody Allen, through the Montepulciano d’Abruzzo.
Strongly linked to these places, Gianluca never loses an opportunity to highlight its beauties anywhere in the world. The last one dates back to the Sanremo Kermesse during which he made Antonello Venditti fall in love (guest of one of the evenings), the arrosticini, in dialect “li rustell”, making him become familiar with the dialectal terms of Abruzzo, as can be seen from a funny video that is becoming popular on the web.
As he says in the interview in the square “This is a special place because I feel good when I’m here, it’s my home. I continue to live here and I cannot wait to come back to see all the Paganesi and my family. That is the most important thing.”
All this love for the music and for his people, last night he came back to him, through the shining eyes of the people, the manifestations of affection and the industriousness of his countrymen, of the Pro Loco, of the Fan Club, of the bars of the village that took care of the organization of the party, setting up even a refreshment for all those present. A way to pay homage with simplicity and warmth not only the artist but also the boy of 24 years (completed last 11 February) which is the pride of his country and of an entire region.
A young man aware that the road to go is still a lot and it is perhaps this humility, beyond the unquestioned talent, to make him so loved. When asked what he would suggest to the boys who want to pursue a dream, not only in music, but in every field of life, he replies that he does not feel like giving advice.
“I still have many dreams and goals to reach, for example learning how to play the piano; before telling others I have to tell myself. Study for the future!”
But the engine that drives this young talent forward is the family. He thanks his parents but above all a person. This is his dear grandfather, Ernesto, who since childhood gave him the love for opera music.
The evening draws to a close with the greetings of the mayor of Roseto, Sabatino di Girolamo, who rewards the singer with a plaque, thanking him for having made known the places of his land and makes them visible all over the world.
Here comes the greetings and takes a real bath of crowd that surrounds him. Smiles and photos with everyone, with its infinite availability and courtesy.
And compared to the controversy in Sanremo, on the insults received in the press room, the three singers have won not only on stage but especially in life, managing to beat offenses with the grace and good manners that are their hallmark.
Soon we will see Il Volo in a series of firmcopies (CD signing events) – as the singer himself says – then in March the tour in America and Japan. On the 22nd, “Musica”, the new album, will be released, with two unpublished works and then many other projects: a summer tour that could also include a date in Abruzzo.
Gianluca, you are really a treasure!
You said things that were really beautiful and without any rancor.
Only very intelligent and sensitive people would react just like you, to such malice.
The controversy over the treatment of Piero, Gianluca and Ignazio by the press room is not over yet.
Even today (Sunday) while I am writing this post for you, a television program has just ended, where the guests talked about Sanremo and how unjust the treatment suffered by our boys is.
The newspapers and television programs that have talked about this topic are many. I will try to make an overview with bad things, I would say very bad that they were written and that certainly will make you angry a lot, and also beautiful things.
Surely this collage of comments by the journalist Domenico Naso, will make you shiver with rage. He was in the press room and published these comments to brag about it, but the thing turned against him.
This man speaks of an “anti-VOLO brigade”, in short, a sort of group of people who do not like IL VOLO, (and this is their right), but which in any case tries to hinder the success of IL VOLO(and this is a really very vile act).
In the first comment, on the left, he comments on the famous video of the press room, published by his colleague Silvia Truzzi (always to brag), his comment says:
So much love for the mythical anti-Volo brigade of which I am honored to be a part.
In the comment at the bottom left he writes:
The Festival musically more “contemporary” than ever, is likely to crown again the three young-old. It’s Italy.
First comment at the top right:
Hallucinating ranking: IL VOLO among the first three.
Other than whistling, there would be to devastate the Ariston (the theater).
And now we do NOT DISPERSE THE VOTE.
OTHERWISE WE RISK FINDING OURSELVES, THE THREE THINGS.
Second comment on the right:
I’m sure the press room anti-IL VOLO brigade will be honoring my seat at this difficult time. True?
Last comment on the right:
Danger averted, I repeat: danger averted.
Abandoning the anti-atomic shelters, the country is safe.
(Sanremo was over and IL VOLO had not won)
When I read these comments, I was baffled ……. BUT HOW IS THIS ALLOWED ?????
I know that now you are full of anger at the comments of this “journalist”, but do you think he understood or apologized? Absolutely not, in fact he said that it is not about bullying, but he does not like IL VOLO, so it’s a long time that he’s ironic about it.
My friend Melina, posted on the journalist’s Facebook page, some worthy comments and then she wrote these words, which I consider absolutely correct:
So far I have not commented on the story of this horrible Festival of Sanremo, having to overcome the bitterness and anger, honestly I do not know if I have succeeded and if I can be sufficiently lucid, I’ll try.
To begin with we premise that the guys of Il Volo have been since their career began, subject to obstruction by the press and the media, this attitude has increased dramatically after the victory at Sanremo in 2015, becoming a real and a widespread and systematic boycott, which is capable of destroying them artistically and humanly, in fact the so-called “criticisms” were not directed only to their musical genre (our Italian melody, third in the world in importance), but also to them personally. They were called young-old, bimbiminkia and other similar amenities, they were accused of being presumptuous, whipped, and arrogant, all seasoned with offenses, derision and ridicule. With nobody else, the Italian press, the various “experts” and “opinionists”, have allowed themselves a so insolent and disrespectful attitude! “Those of us who tried to point out this situation were mocked and insulted.”
We come now specifically, I will not dwell on the fact that in a serious competition the juries remain the same for the duration of the event and that one is not removed in the last two evenings, to replace it with another, ridiculously called “jury of ‘honor’ which turned out to be “jury of horror”, composed among others by a cook, who invited on social networks to vote for a singer, four actresses, a friend of a competitor’s girlfriend and a former producer of a protagonist of the duets.
But as the whole world now knows, the real eyesore has been consummated in the press room where presumed professionals in the exercise of their function, have abandoned themselves to vulgar hysterical, inadmissible, incomprehensible, indefensible and unmotivated insults, epithets and personal offenses, as it is clearly visible in the videos circulated a bit everywhere. They are unworthy images of men and women, most of them with gray hair, who rant against three guys who are only doing their job, the one they study and sacrifice for. Now that this shame has come to the open, instead of doing mea culpa, the aforementioned professionals, are indignant for the violation of their privacy, moreover perpetrated by their own colleagues present, who had the brilliant idea to post the videos as if they were a pride (fortunately sometimes the impudent arrogant, they are also stupid)!
And fleeing, trying to limit the damage, citing tragicomics (tragic comedy) and childish justifications, invoking episodes of cheerful “goliardia” (university students) and finally proffering weak excuses with clenched teeth. Some of the journalists who have left an opinion have continued to turn over the omelette (take the excuse), others have cowardly preferred to delete the comments, remove the post and block. I quote here, for example, one of my thoughts written on the page of the journalist who recorded one of the incriminated videos, to boast of such dignity, comment that was promptly removed by the “lady”: “I AM A FAN OF IL VOLO. Il Volo are international stars, videos unworthy have been around the world, causing indignation and making a petty figure to the Italian press. This is the difference between you and them: they bring prestige to Italy, but you bring discredit!” . . . of course, the truth was not tolerable.
Melina
Yes, because you understood correctly, the apologies of the journalists were really ridiculous, they said that they were only goliardic scenes (similar to frat house antics).
Still here in Italy we are talking about all the bad stuff, the boys have not been on TV anymore, they are thinking about their tour dates. They really had an incredible response of correctness and education, they are really an example.
But now I want to show you some nice messages that have arrived.
First of all this comment is by Gianna Nannini, the evening of the duets wrote as follows:
“This is rock! Yesterday you split the Ariston with that violin!”
And this was posted a couple of days ago by Alessandro Quarta:
The moment that I would live another million times!
“Sanremo 2019” with “Il Volo” and the “Standing Ovation” of the Ariston Theater and of all those who love their music in the world, because it is “Musica che Resta” !!! ~ Alessandro Quarta ~
I end with this speech by Bartoletti, a great friend of our boys, here are his words:
“Look Mara, they knew perfectly well that going to Sanremo, they had to accept a regulation that included a televoting, which favored them, and two juries, admittedly against.
Yet they went the same, yet they smiled, before the verdict.
The jury of honor, placed them at the twenty-first place, is not a judgment, it is a form of artistic racism against IL VOLO, and they have always and only a smile !!”
Thanks Bartoletti, for your sincere affection for the guys !!
I really hope that the opinion of journalists and critics, has had a good shock, because it is unworthy of the behavior they had, towards Ignazio, Piero and Gianluca.
I do not know if there will be repentance from these people, but at least that for the future they have learned the lesson, because these guys are “great” in every sense and must be respected.
As for Alessandro Quarta, I sincerely hope that he can perform with IL VOLO in concert so that we can all enjoy this wonderful performance!
Perhaps many of you have already seen this video, done by IL VOLOCOMIO, but I want to translate the background words for you. This is the beautiful presentation made at theVerona concert in September 2015. Who reads is a famous Italian actor,Giancarlo Giannini, the video was made just to confirm the good words.
A modern fairytale does not start with “Once upon a time …..” because it happens here, and now.
A modern fable, has no dragons, nor princesses, as protagonists.
Start in Italy, think, in some cities of our beautiful province.
More than the characters, the real protagonists are: the passion that animates them and friendship.
The passion for the “bel canto” that takes possession of three kids, the friendship that, instead of the soccer field, grows in front of a large orchestra.
And what passion and friendship alone cannot, is achieved by talent.
Passion, friendship, talent, are not the names of three fairies, but when in life, rarely happens that they get together, as if they were, they realize magical things.
This modern fable does not have an ending, because it has just begun and is still to be written, and it speaks of three guys, who have taken flight, IL VOLO.
In this video of the concert inVerona 2015, Giancarlo Giannini introducesCANZONE PER TE, reading the first verse of the song.
Meanwhile, about MUSICA CHE RESTA, Emilio Munda (music writer) in an interview said:
It’s the first time I work with IL VOLO and I’m going to Sanremo, so a set of things that excites me so much.
I cannot say much about MUSICA CHE RESTA, except that it is a lyrical pop very suitable for them.
Let’s say it’s a dress that they wear very well.
And here are our guys in the backstage of Sanremo, a photo shoot during an interview.
And all of you, are you ready to listen to MUSICA CHE RESTA?
JUST FYI!! I just tried to order tickets (Feb 16 at 12p) and either the site is jammed, or blocked, not sure what, but I can’t get past the “go to shipping” info area. 🙁 My dear friend Veronica said she would try to order me some from there. Hope there are still tickets left when she gets home!
Good luck if you try to order any!! You will need to register on the site first and sign in. It actually still had my order from when I purchased them almost 3 years ago now! Lol!
Here, the first dates of the Italian tour have been announced.
Go to ticketone.it to find tickets. Verona venue is offering a gold package with a pre-event, but no guys for 250 euros. However the first 2 rows are already sold out. It is orch pit area. Best regular tx there after that start about 90 euros but when I checked a bit ago, they were already on the 3rd row there also. If you are a member of the fan club you should have gotten an email, however I missed mine! 🙁 Came in at 4am sometime! Pat forwarded it to me. It references going to fan club page for presale code, which has technically already expired, but maybe can get better seats still? I just looked at site though, and did not see any reference code? Jana
Finally the tour is taking shape.
Here is the list:
I think they are only the first dates, surely others will be added, in fact you will have noticed that there is no Taormina and this is not possible.
Also there are not the two dates of Matera, which we know well have been announced. Maybe those are the two dates of the PBS special, will they be by invitation only ???
I believe that I will go to Verona, but I still want to wait for the announcement of all the dates.
The dates of the instore have also been announced.
I will go to Milan on 22 February, only a few days are left, what a thrill!! I will be able to see them, even if only for a moment, while they sign my copy of the new CD.
I will give them all the greetings and all the love from all the IL VOLO FLIGHT CREW !!! ❤️
For now, this is the news, but it’s just the beginning . . . things are moving.
Soon other dates will be given.
Some good news was needed, given the latest news that had made us so angry, and things, here in Italy, are not yet settled.
On the contrary, every day we discover many wrong behaviors, ungenerous and unjust actions that our guys have suffered for years from the press.
Things do not end here ….. there will still be a lot to say.
At this point, after being REDwith rage 😡 for what we read, we smile with this article, 😀 very unique.
I want to warn you that it was written in an ironic tone, so read with nice irony what this journalist writes that he realized that his colleagues are exaggerating.
We have this against the three of Il Volo. They are unlucky, they sing old stuff, music of the past, someone claims that they are good for the Americans who know nothing and are fond of the memory of Luciano Tajoli and Claudio Villa. Others say that they are like spaghetti bolognese, a typical tourist export dish but non-existent in Italian kitchens and tables.
Barone, Boschetto, Ginoble form an unpleasant and presumptuous trio. Easy to understand the reasons and just as easy to get out of this situation. They are doing everything wrong. They should begin to adapt to contemporary styles. The Decalogue (Ten Commandments) is simple and I go to illustrate it:
1)Necessary tattoos, clearly visible, arms, hands, possibly face. It goes without saying that strong, aggressive messages, to power, to capitalists, to the bourgeoisie must be evident.
2)The piercing is indispensable, chosen from the lip to the nostrils, from the ear lobe, tongue and eyebrows.
3)Excessive composition of music and texts of great provocation, with strong words, possibly vulgar, something that lends itself to the rhyme with bunch, boy, sollazzo, bad luck, embarrassment, shame, terrace, weir (they are all words that in Italian rhyme with an Italian dirty word)
4)Appropriate use of various drugs, even revealed in an adolescent past and the invitation to use them with caution.
5)Convenient outing on sexual desires and confession of a very harsh childhood, repressed in a family on the edge of poverty.
6)Eligible participation not at the Papal audience but at the rave party. Better to perform in a social center and not to sing for His Holiness the Pope, old and sly stuff, from sacristans and astute clerks.
7)Intelligent add to their names a pseudonym that steals the attention of most. Type PieroAx, IgnazioZ, Gianlucaebbasta. (In Italy there are these 3 rappers: J-AX, FedeZ, Sferaebbasta)
8)Adequate some typical postures of repertoire and trend: gesticulate, make movements and gestures uncomposed, agitated, dis-articulated, closing ring and middle, instead showing, bystanders, index, thumb and little finger.
9)Indispensable to decorate oneself following the latest dictates of fashion, showy clothes, shoes by astronauts, colored glasses.
10) Useful haircut called pompadour undercut with overlying tufts and shaving at the bottom, any ridges are still allowed, possibly painted by resounding colors.
Only by observing these rules could the three losers enter the list of favorites, win high marks in report cards of teachers in the Sanremo jury and find the right national glory. That said, briefly. Indeed ….. on the fly. (in Italian: AL VOLO)
Instead, among the messages to support arrived, I point this out, which was published by Cristiano Malgioglio, an Italian singer-songwriter.
How genuine they are, these guys of IL VOLO. They are so big and known in the world that they have remained wonderfully simple. They enjoy success without crickets for the head … And this is very beautiful. Among all the participants of Sanremo they were the ONLY VERY INTERNATIONAL GROUP. THANK YOU FOR AFFECTION. I LOVE YOU.
And here is the answer of Ignazio and Piero.
I = Love
P = We just wanted to thank you for what you wrote
I = Thanks
P = We love you
But why do Piero Ignazio and Gianluca have to change?
We who know them well do not want them to change, nor their style, let alone their way of being.
I personally hope they do not change anything, I like them that way.
And what do you think?
Daniela
