The European tour continues at a rapid pace and continues to generate success.
The series of concerts in Germany has also concluded, and Il Volo is heading to the Czech Republic.
November 13th PRAGUE
The concert was in the 02 Arena.
Let’s go on stage!

I PUFFI 🤣😂🤣 In this short chat video from Il Volo, Ignazio jokes about the color of the clothes worn by the boys, saying that the three of them look like Smurfs (in Italian PUFFI) who are, in fact, blue. 😂💙💙💙😂

“✨ IL VOLO will return to Prague in 2027! The trio of Piero Barone, Ignazio Boschetto, and Gianluca Ginoble will once again grace the O2 Arena on October 18, 2027. It will be their fourth concert in Prague and once again a great treat for all pop opera lovers.
Today’s performance was full of emotion, elegance, and unforgettable musical moments. IL VOLO shone with the Bohemian Symphony Orchestra Prague under the guidance of Martin Šanda, and special guests: Swiss cello virtuoso Jodok Vuille and Estonian soprano Elina Nechayeva.
In 2027, fans will once again be able to experience the charm of Italy, the power of the three voices, and the exceptional musical atmosphere that combines classical tradition with a modern twist.”
Gianluca hugs a fan and Piero’s sweet memory of Barbara. ❤️🙏
Il Volo thanks Prague and Budapest with this fun video!!
MVM DOME posted these beautiful photos announcing a future concert in 2027 with these words:
“The bar was already high last year, but yesterday they easily cleared it. 🙌🏻 What will be here in 2027? 🤭”
Once again, two amazing concerts, once again the magic of their voices was confirmed, and the large audience responded with so much love!!
Now there are no concerts until November 23rd, so our guys can get some rest…do you think that’s possible????
Indeed!!!
The ATP Tennis FINALS were held in Turin in November, and the match between the two finalist champions, SINNER(Italian) and ALCARAZ(Spanish), took place on Sunday, November 16th. To everyone’s surprise, because the news hadn’t been widely spread, the live TV broadcast of the event began with the entrance of IL Volo, who sang the Italian National Anthem: FRATELLI D’ITALIA
Il Volo’s anthem before the match between Sinner and Alcaraz: “What a thrill! Like us, they started at 14.”
It certainly wasn’t the first time the Il Volo boys had sung the Mameli Anthem, but this time, in the center of Turin’s Inalpi Arena, shortly before the thrilling match between Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz in the final of the 2025 ATP Finals, the artists were also filled with emotion. “We weren’t used to it, and we weren’t in front of our usual crowd, but it was even more beautiful. We felt all the emotion and immense affection.”
We spoke with Gianluca Ginoble and Piero Barone, who explained how they were asked to sing at the last minute: “We’re currently busy with our European tour,” Piero explains. “Yesterday we were in Budapest and we received the offer to sing at the ATP Finals; we wouldn’t have missed it for anything in the world. We’ve never responded so quickly to a request.”
All three singers are passionate about tennis, and it seems they play regularly. They’re pretty good, in short. Gianluca, a little less so: “Ignazio and Piero often play together. You could say that Piero is a bit like our Sinner, while Ignazio is instinctive; he even shouts a bit, like Alcaraz. For now, I’m the umpire.” They say that, finding themselves on this unconventional stage, they’ve noticed the differences but, above all, the similarities in the situations; sport and music aren’t that far apart after all.
“It’s clear that these two young champions were born to do what they do,” Piero reflects. “They discovered that they were practically children and are able to live off their passion, dedicating themselves to it, putting everything they have into it. They are an inspiration. That’s what we try to do too: we started at 14, discovering our calling, and we see a lot of ourselves in them. It’s a tough journey, but a beautiful one.” Gianluca quotes Morricone in “Silence is Music,” when he describes the sacredness of the exchange and the respect of thousands of people who almost held their breath so as not to disturb. “It seems like a meditative practice. Which is then interrupted by explosions of joy: a fantastic experience that is very similar to a standing ovation.”
And here in the backstage are Sinner and Il Volo waiting to greet the champion.
And once again, our beloved guys amazed and thrilled us with two more fantastic concerts, but above all, with a truly Italian sense of pride for the closing of the 2025 ATP Finals tennis tournament.🎾
A few days off (perhaps) and then the European Tour continues from Oradea, Romania.

MEMORY
Always nice to hear this beautiful song from Ignazio’s voice! ❤️
E LUCEVAN LE STELLE
Piero with his powerful lyrical voice, what a dream! ❤️
This video is really special and in its entirety, Gianluca singing THE MUSIC OF THE NIGHT wonderfully, rejoice!❤️
And what to say about this other single by Gianluca sung in Budapest:BRIDGE OVER TROUBLED WATERS❤️
I found this video and I left it for last because I find it really wonderful, finally we can listen to THE SOUND OF SILENCE in its entirety and at the beginning the voices of Il Volo are subdued, and then follow with all the strength, I like it very much !! ❤️
the final
Backstage with Il Volo, Cellist Jodok Vuille, the soprano Elina Netsajeva and Marcelito Pomoy, who went to see the concert.
Marcelito Pomoy is a very famous Filipino singer, he won Philippines Got’s Talent and participated in America’s Got Talent, his peculiarity is that he sings with both a baritone voice and a mezzo-soprano voice and therefore plays both in the same song roles for men and women!!!
October 12, Czech Republic: PRAGUE
The concert is held in the beautiful and largest arena in Prague, Arena 02.
Here too, great public participation, great warmth, great love!
02 Arena, after the concert published these words:
“A spectacular show full of Italian passion from Il Volo lit up the O2 arena just last night.”
I found this video of a fan filming her concert experience from outside the arena and then several songs.
It’s nice to hear so much applause for our dear young men. Our dear friend, Alicja, was kind enough to provide the translation/summary of the words of this Ukranian lady.
Summary:
Hello, I came to Prague alone, for concert of Italian pop opera trio. It is trio of 3 boys who sing pop opera. I could not attend concerts since 3 years, this time I bought ticket as well very late, I have my seat very high in the arena. Look behind it is O2 Arena, it is famous venue for concerts, hockey games and other shows. I think I will enjoy this evening. Look how many people are already in the queues and still coming from all directions. Concert is sold out. Here you see escalators, I will go up to my sector. Here you can buy snacks and drinks, even alcoholic drinks you can buy before event. Now I want to show you the view of entire Arena. I like such big venues, feel small here. I still have time so will walk a bit around Arena.
AFTER CONCERT: I’m so amazed, concert was incomparable to anything I saw before, fantastic performance, great young boys, great singers.
But how sweet is this child who wants to give flowers to his favorite… Piero takes the flowers, but the child has clear ideas, his favorite is Gianluca!!❤️😂😂😍
MISERERE
HERE’S TO YOU
Il Volo with maestro Martin Sanda who conducted the orchestra.
Only two days of break, incredible to think how Piero, Gianluca and Ignazio can move places in just two days, rehearse with a different orchestra and maybe with a few different songs and always be at the top. By the way, as some of you asked, they also manage to visit the cities where they hold concerts, as demonstrated by the photos that they themselves publish of the monuments or typical places of the various cities, and we are happy that they manage to do so.
14 October Spain: BARCELONA
The concert is held in AUDITORI FORUM.
The beginning of the concert:
NELLE TUE MANI from Il Gladiatore
WHO WANTS TO LIVE FOREVER
AD ASTRA
OPERA
GRANADA
GRANDE AMORE in Spanish, Italian and English 😂
CCIB (Barcelona International Convention Centre) published these words:
“🎶 Piero Barone, Ignazio Boschetto and Gianluca Ginoble, the renowned members of the Italian opera trio Il Volo were the protagonists of a memorable performance last night at the #CCIB Forum Auditorium, as part of the Festival della Croce d’Autunno Concerts Cruïlla. Thank you for giving Barcelona this special musical evening!”
And the event organizer CONCERT CRUILLA wrote this:
“Last night @ilvolomusic transformed the @ccib_auditori into a refuge for lovers of opera, intergenerational hits and the Italian essence that only they can transport all over the world. 🐚
The sensitivity of this trio contrasted with their lyrical skill and a staging that won us over from the start!”
And so three more concerts have concluded and I would say in an impressive way as regards the participation of the fans and the professionalism of our beloved ones.
Even in Barcelona Il Volo was greeted with warm applause and affection.
Only two days after Spain and then there will be the next concert in Germany…….but do you think there will be a whole day of rest???
But not by chance, because on October 15th Il Volo returned to Italy, to Rome for a private event in the beautiful Palazzo Colonna, of which we can only give you this short video.
And then back to Germany for the next concert.
But there is still something new!
From the next concert in Germany there will be a regular guest in Il Volo concerts, her name is Cecille (Cecilia Sordoni), a good singer from the Marche region.
Il Volo, the singer Cecille will be the guest of all the European dates starting from tonight’s live show in Dusseldorf.
After London, Bratislava, Budapest, Prague and Barcelona, Il Volo continues the World Tour and announces that Cecille, a young singer from the Marche region, will be a regular guest on all the upcoming European dates starting from tonight’s live at the Mitsubishi Electric Halle in Düsseldorf until last show on November 6th at the Wizink Center in Madrid.
The meeting between Il Volo and Cecille was born by chance, when Piero Barone, Gianluca Ginoble and Ignazio Boschetto, always looking for new sounds and talents, came across some of her videos on Andrea Bocelli’s social media.
Impressed by her interpretation and voice, they decided to contact her and offer her the opportunity to perform with them on all the upcoming dates of the European tour.
“We all agreed that she was the perfect talent to accompany us on our concerts in Europe and we are happy that she immediately accepted our proposal with enthusiasm,” explains the trio who later discovered that Cecille is part of the Bocelli family. (in the sense that she often sang with Bocelli)
The singer has already conquered international audiences with extraordinary performances, including one at the White House in 2023, when she sang in front of First Lady Jill Biden interpreting Lucio Dalla’s Caruso.
While the 2024/2025 World Tour continues with European appointments until November, for Italian fans of Il Volo the appointment is set for January 2025 with Tutti per uno – ad Astra live in sports halls, the tour in the main Italian arenas produced by Friends & Partners. The World Tour will then continue in the USA, Canada and Latin America.
And now look at how cute this video is with Cecille breaking the news to Bocelli.
CECILLE= Hi Andrea, I came to say hello, I have a flight not to miss. (flight in Italian = Volo, she plays on the double meaning of the word).
BOCELLI= Do you have a flight not to miss? Where to?
PIERO= Andrea is coming to us, don’t worry.
IGNAZIO= Yes, in any case it was a misunderstanding, the flight (Il Volo) is us, not intended as an airline…
GIANLUCA= Andrea, Cecille will come with us on tour in Europe. Get ready to fly.
BOCELLI= In this case, how to say…..(he starts playing the song VOLARE on the piano). Good luck everyone!
CECILLE= Ciao!
And here are the words published by Cecille:
“Once again reality surpasses all my dreams, all my imaginations.
I can’t find the words to describe the emotion and honor of being part of this extraordinary journey with Il Volo for inviting me to join their European Tour.
Piero, Gianluca, Ignazio, the words ‘Thank you’ will never be enough.
All my gratitude to Andrea Bocelli whose music and support have always inspired me throughout my journey.
And now we get ready to fly…Düsseldorf we arrive!✈️🎶🌍✨❤️”
Little by little, Il Volo has reached the last 3 concerts of the European tour.
There were great satisfactions and everything on tour went well.
9 October, Hungary: BUDAPEST
A nice surprise from Gianluca during the soundcheck in Budapest, he sang and played SIGN OF THE TIMES, very good!! 😍
From the concert:
ECSTASY OF GOLD
HALLELUJAH
HERE’S TO YOU
There was a guest, the Hungarian singer, Gabi Tóth with whom they sang the beautiful song: CANZONE PER TE. Beautiful quartet, congratulations to all four. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
GABI published this video on her Facebook page, with this comment:
Il Volo had a fantastic concert last night and I am grateful to have been able to sing this wonderful song with them, with just one rehearsal and without speaking the same language, but we understood each other in the language of music! Thanks for the opportunity, Roland Horvat. (her manager)

Il Volo hosted a fantastic evening in Budapest! 🎉
Budapest, October 10, 2023. It was a magical evening on October 9, when the trio of IL VOLO, Piero Barone, Ignazio Boschetto and Gianluca Ginoble performed at the Budapest Sportarena. The evening was opened by the energetic performance of the talented Vavra Bence, where the excitement and anticipation of the audience could be felt from the very beginning. The tension reached its peak when the long-awaited moment finally arrived and IL VOLO took the stage. The world-famous trio, which conquered the Hungarian audience for the first time in 2019, once again proved that it rightfully belongs among the greatest. As Piero Barone, a member of IL VOLO, said in his interview to Index: “We are very happy to have come to Hungary again, and we are sure that the audience will enjoy the evening.”
At the end of the evening, Roland Horváth, director of Koncert Promo, enthusiastically declared: “IL VOLO concerts are always special, but this evening was exceptional. Their music, their voice, their splendor is unique. We are sure that the audience had a unique experience during the concert.” The production, the organizers and the artists concluded the evening satisfied. Budapest will surely remember this special concert for a long time and we hope we won’t have to wait long for the trio’s return!
**IL VOLO’s concert was an evening that music lovers should not miss. Thank you for being with us and being a part of this unforgettable musical experience!**
October 10: Czech Republic: PRAGUE
Our young men always send photographs of the cities where they will have concerts, “tourists by day, singers by night”.
But sometimes, walking around the streets of the old part of the city of PRAGUE, you can have special encounters that make your heart happy, and this is how mum Eleonora and dad Ercole reached their son, to the joy of a happy Gianluca! 😍😍
The concert was held in the beautiful and modern O2 Arena.
O SOLE MIO
VOLARE
GRANDE AMORE
Also in Prague CANZONE PER TE was sung with a good singer from the Czech Republic: Tereza Maskova. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Tereza posted this on her Facebook page.
I’m realizing this really happened. 🙈❤️ My childhood dream has come true. 🙏
I’ve been smiling from ear to ear since the morning and remember yesterday’s concert @ilvolomusic I’m watching videos and I still can’t believe it. 😍 I wonder, but was I really next to them? Did I really sing with them? Well, for sure yes. 😁❤️
Thank you so much for this experience it was an honor. ❤️
02 ARENA Prague, published this comment:
The musical group Il Volo presented its long-awaited debut in Prague! We will long remember this wonderful evening full of Italian passion and extraordinary musical experience!
How did you like the concert?✨
This instead was published by IREPORT.CZ Musica and Style Magazine, which I translated for you.
Il Volo created a magical atmosphere in the O2 arena, the trio was accompanied by Tereza Mašková.
Il Volo visited the Czech Republic for the first time. The trio, who represented Italy at Eurovision 2015, amazed Prague not only with their singing talent, but also with their spirit. The singers accompanied by the orchestra were not afraid to communicate regularly with the audience, both in English and in their native Italian. At each concert of the Il Volo tour, a selected song is accompanied by a local artist.
For the Prague show they chose Tereza Mašková, who has been a fan of theirs for a long time. Together they sang the song CANZONE PER TE. Celine Dion’s My Heart Will Go On, Leonard Cohen’s Hallelujah and Sinatra’s My Way were also performed. The fans rewarded the trio with a standing ovation and incessant applause for the beautiful evening.
Among many concerts and great successes with the public and affection, we are slowly moving towards the last scheduled concert, as the concert in Tel Aviv, as you know, has been postponed for now. 😞🙏
And so here we are at the last European concert.
October 12, LITHUANIA: Kaunas
IL MONDO

MISERERE
A nice summary of some songs.
Standing Ovation 👏🏻
In this photo you can see Gianluca, Piero and Ignazio with the journalist Ramunas Zilnys who published the photo with these words:
“It’s nice to meet the Il Volo guys in person after an 8-year break. Beautiful concert in Kaunas tonight / Nice to see Il Volo again (we met at Eurovision 8 years ago). Great concert in Kaunas.”
While Il Volo on its Facebook page thanks all the fans for the love they had during the European concerts, Barbara Vitali publishes this photo which highlights the flights carried out by Il Volo for this tour, remarkable!!
And we are right at the end of the European tour. I would say that Piero, Gianluca and Ignazio can be happy with how this tour went, because the affection of their fans has been reconfirmed.
And now??? What will they do??
Maybe they should rest a little……but no, there is already some news that will make us happy, on October 29th they will be in Mexico for the closing of the Festival Internacional Chihuahua.
And that’s all for now but, as you may have understood, we’ll talk to you soon:
SARETTO = My friends, he was abstinent from slushes, now he has come for a few hours and ate…..
PIERO= For a few minutes…. how many are 8?
SARETTO= I think it’s 7 or 8 granitas.
PIERO= 8 and a brioche.
SARETTO= Bye guys!
I was wondering why, maybe there was something we didn’t know anything about or was it just a quick trip back to Sicily?
In fact there was also a specific reason, a prize awarded to Piero.
On July 10, Piero collected the Ignazio Buttitta special prize, which is a prize for a literary competition, but as a special prize, it is also recognized for those who spread Sicilian art and culture.
It is an award established by the province of Agrigento, of which Piero belongs.
And here is the video of the award delivery and the motivation.
MOTIVATION = Pure singing talent, he gained international fame and popularity together with his travel companions : Il Volo.
In his short but intense career he has performed on the most prestigious stages in the world and has undertaken collaborations with the people of the musical firmament.
His singing ductility allows him to face any repertoire, from the more properly bel canto one, to pop.
Strong musicality, desire to improve, mild and strong-willed character, in a perfect mix, make Piero Barone an extraordinary artist witness of the best Italian musical culture in the world, congratulations!!
Special Presidency Prize, Piero, you made truly extraordinary flights to be here tonight (evidently Piero managed to be present between one engagement and another).
PIERO= I did it willingly, good evening everyone. In recent years I have never taken any recognition for granted, I believe that every recognition, individual or collective, human, artistic, is always important. I’ve always thought that recognition ennobles success.
Back to Sicily, I’m going home.
Piero with a journalist.
Now I’ll update you on the free event in Ascoli Piceno with the translation of this beautiful article.
ASCOLI – The ticket office opened at 8 this morning. After 30 minutes the tickets were finished, and only the very long queue of those in possession of the precious “number” remained. Fans from out of town and even foreigners too. Some have spent the night in Piazza del Popolo in the loggias under the Palazzo dei Capitani. The countdown officially kicks off to attend the gift to the city of Battista Faraotti who celebrates the thirtieth anniversary of his Fainplast.
All lined up for “Il Volo”. This morning, Monday 10 July, at 8:00AM the distribution of tickets for the concert of the most famous trio in the world, scheduled for 21 July in Piazza del Popolo, began in Ascoli.
A free concert, a “gift” to the city of Battista Faraotti who is celebrating the thirtieth anniversary of his company, Fainplast.
As was widely expected, the ticket office in Piazza del Popolo was stormed. There are those who even lay in wait during the night to earn a front row seat, even sleeping in their sleeping bags close to the Palazzo dei Capitani. Many people, even not very young, queued shortly after dawn.
Many for hours under the scorching sun, including those who have come from outside the region and also several tourists. Two of them, Americans, managed to grab the ticket.
An man from Ascoli arrived very early in the square. There were already a few dozen people, and he then took the initiative to organize numbered slips of paper which he distributed to those present while waiting for the various procedures to begin: the arrival of the City workers with the barriers, the security, the Municipal Police and the State Police. All aimed at finally getting hold of the ticket.
The comings and goings of enthusiasts who don’t want to miss out on the most eagerly awaited event of the year are continuous, like a river in flood. Tickets sold out within half an hour. 600 tickets were distributed, considering that each person could take a maximum of two.
There are two women from Ascoli who managed to pocket the precious coupon. “For the love of Il Volo I’m here in the Piazza from 5:40AM, finally says Pacifico Mariotti, who arrives from Fabriano (province of Ancona).
“I’ve been here since 6:00AM, I come from Montalto Marche and I’m in the company of two friends from Offida,” says Rosanna di Silvestre.
Among the hundreds of people in line, also the city councilor for commerce and sport Nico Stallone. “I arrived in Piazza del Popolo at 6:30AM and I already had 200 people in front of me. A first group of 280 people was made, then another. I had the pleasure of meeting the first person who arrived tonight”.
On July 12, Ignazio posted a nice photo of Budapest, will he be there for a short vacation?
But before evening, Gianluca also publishes a photo of leaving for Budapest.
Instead Piero is with his family and publishes a photo with his brother and sister Mariagrazia who graduated.
But not even a day goes by and Piero has also flown to Budapest, what will there be? There is no event or concert at the moment.
Here is the mystery revealed, a press conference in Budapest for the new concert on October 9 at the Budapest Arena.
The Hungarian singer with whom they will collaborate is also present at the conference: Gabi Toth.
These are her words: Great honor for me that the world famous Italian opera singers pop trio formed a joint song.
Il Volo October 9 – I will perform in the Arena and the concert will be previewed. 🙏🏻
I look forward to working together as this is a new challenge and an exciting musical journey. 🙌
After the press conference a nice and long interview was published of which I translated the most interesting questions and omitted the part where he describes Il Volo from its beginnings to today.
QUESTION= Let’s go back to the beginning. How do you remember your childhood, was your talent already manifested then?
GIANLUCA: On behalf of all three of us I can say that we owe a lot of gratitude to our parents, who have believed in us from the beginning. I’m very happy because they always gave me the chance to show my talent and believed in me. I was never told what to do. This is the most important thing to support the emergence of the talent of a young man who is just trying to express himself. The main direction in my life was that I wanted to be a singer. It’s the one thing I’m good at that my parents recognized and helped me figure out who I really am.
QUESTION= Your career started in a talent show where you competed individually. What do you think of the current talent scouts?
GIANLUCA: Sometimes I have the feeling that the singers in the TV show are just part of a big machine. It’s not easy to find new talent every year or even every month, and only a very small percentage of them manage to unleash their talent. It’s like they sacrifice everything on the altar of quality. That’s why it’s very important that singers who want to be famous try to express themselves as much as possible. A strong personality is essential, which is not easy to find, but social networks and TV shows are also based on it. I think there are a lot of talented people in the world, they just do something different. It’s also important to be able to plan ahead, and talent is useless if you don’t know how to use it. Just getting bad advice from someone and you can already be lost. This is why many still do not know how to express themselves.
QUESTION= It has become obvious in the search for talent that opera is closest to you. Why did you choose this genre?
PIERO= Actually our genre isn’t even opera. The pieces we perform are all part of Italian culture, interpreted in recent years by singers such as Luciano Pavarotti and many others who have brought these compositions from the theater and brought them to the public. They are traditional songs known all over the world, and perhaps people confuse them with opera due to the powerful sounds, even if it is bel canto. To hear an opera you have to go to the theatre. However, our program does include some opera pieces, including La Traviata and Nessun Dorma. Whoever comes to the Budapest show will feel as if they were in Italy for one night, it will be a trip through the last 14 years. In addition to Italian sheet music, we have previously covered American compositions as well, including My Way. Our most characteristic song is Grande Amore, with which we had the opportunity to represent Italy at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2015.
QUESTION= You mentioned the Eurovision Song Contest. You took part in the competition in 2015, where you finished in third place. What memories do you have of this period?
PIERO= In Italy the only way to participate in the Eurovision Song Contest and represent the country is to win the most famous festival, the Sanremo Festival. Thanks to this, we also managed to enter the competition in 2015 with the song Grande Amore , as we won the festival with it. At that time, the Eurovision Song Contest in Italy was not as well known as it is now, but we have good memories of it. The passion with which every interpreter displays the flag of his nation. We had the best time of our lives then, because overall our only goal was to represent Italy, as we felt the love and support of our nation.
QUESTION = In 2021, another Italian band, Maneskin, won the competition. In the history of Eurovision, they managed to do it for the third time among Italians. Did it mean a lot to you that an Italian band finally won?
PIERO = We were happy that Italy could finally win and host the next Eurovision. In fact, we were invited as guests to Turin to perform that evening. We performed another English version of Grande Amore and believe me, seeing the Eurovision Song Contest in Italy gave a completely different feeling of freedom.
QUESTION= It’s already official that you will duet with the singer Gabi Tóth at the concert in Budapest, why was she chosen?
PIERO= It was introduced to us via Spotify, because when we travel to certain countries, we like to collaborate with artists there. We got to her with the help of an agency and we liked her. If only because a great experience connects us. She has also performed in front of Pope Francis which is quite amazing. When we first met, we had a chance to talk a bit and it became obvious what feelings drive all of us.
QUESTION = In 2021 you sang in honor of Ennio Morricone in a concert, and then you released an album in his memory. What did that composer mean to you?
PIERO= He has done a lot for our culture, he is an icon and we all grew up listening to his songs. While many people may not know at first when they hear a song that he composed, we’re also talking about an Oscar-winning artist. As Italians, we are very proud that he was also Italian, and we want to thank his family for believing in us for this project, as well as we are grateful for his melodies, which fill us with emotion when we hear them on stage.
QUESTION= Most singers and musicians have some sort of mission through music. What is your main motivation?
GIANLUCA= Next year we will celebrate our 15th anniversary and we have created a very strong show. In addition to songs belonging to our culture, we have already sung Smile by Charlie Chaplin with Barbra Streisand, among others, but currently our goal is to have our own repertoire and be able to sing for our generation as well. This is a very difficult challenge, but we strive to achieve it with our new songs. We are already thinking about the distant future and let’s imagine the next 15-20-30 years together.
QUESTION= Among the younger generation, music genres like r’n’b or pop are considered mainstream these days. How can you make them fall in love with bel canto?
GIANLUCA= We are young too and we love this music. We have different audiences in different parts of the world, for example in South America 80% of people belong to our generation. It all depends on the country we are talking about. In Japan and Europe, for example, we are mostly listened to by adults. The goal is to make good songs, because if we do that, people will listen to our music.
QUESTION = You have already proved yourself to Hungarian fans in 2018 and 2019. What is your experience with this audience?
GIANLUCA= Hungary was one of the first places we went after the Eurovision Song Contest. We were constantly on the road and playing concerts. It was very touching to see the arenas full even outside of Italy and to experience the love we received from the Hungarian audience.
QUESTION= As mentioned above, during your career you have performed duets with, among others, Barbara Streisand. Who else is left out of the line-up you would like to work with?
GIANLUCA= We never know who life will bring us together with, and we can also mix different musical genres. We have achieved so much in our career so far and now a new chapter begins as we want to bring our music to an even bigger audience. This is one of our goals.
QUESTION= Do you have other role models?
PIERO= Hans Zimmer, is one of the most brilliant composers.
QUESTION= Is there an artist whose career you would like to have?
IGNAZIO= Ourselves.
PIERO= There was a singer in Italy who was asked who he wanted to be, and he replied: myself, the best form of myself.
GIANLUCA= You have to reach your goals and dream big, but at the same time you have to recognize your limits. It wouldn’t be true if I said I wanted to be like Michael Jackson. You have to realize that you have to give yourself in life, you have to believe in yourself and, as Piero said: you have to be the best. If I only express 60 percent of my being with my music, I have to think about how to reach 100 percent. This is what we stand for.
And the second concert with POOH has also arrived, this time at the stadium in Rome.
Once again a good experience, they sang the same one song: Uomini Soli (lonely men).
At the beginning Ignazio says that he has studied the song well these days, otherwise Red gets angry.
Red replies laughing that Ignazio is a scoundrel, because in the afternoon during rehearsals he pretended to get the song wrong and Red really thought he was wrong. And Ignazio says he does it on purpose to make Red angry!! 😁😁
This beautiful photo was posted by Red (he has a red jacket), with these words:
“THOSE GOOD GUYS FROM IL VOLO –
They are like us, three different worlds, but which complement each other… they are kind and they are certainly very good. Singing with them was a real joy… and we also laughed and joked a lot… they are three little pests and Ignazio managed to deceive me, during rehearsals, by pretending to get the verse of Uomini Soli (lonely men) wrong and I fell for it like a pear tree… but there’s time… and I’ll do it again 🤣”
But there is yet another news, which Susan has already informed you about, it has been published that Il Volo will participate in the “match of the heart” a football match with a charity background, where the teams will be: Singers versus Artists.
And here is the promo video, to advertise the match.
It’s always a wonderful initiative, and with a very honorable goal, but I wonder how the guys will do, given that they have to be in Ascoli Piceno for the free concert the next day?
Let’s hope they let them play in the first half.
Lately they have been spinning like tops, they don’t have a moment of time for themselves and their families, in fact in this period there were also the birthdays of Ignazio’s mother and also of Gianluca’s father and Ignazio and Gianluca were in the company of their parents, just one day and that’s it, just like Piero just one day for his sister Mariagrazia’s feast.
The things they said in the interview in Hungary are really interesting, they are preparing big surprises for their 15-year career and different music that can also involve the youngest, but as Gianluca reiterated: “The goal is to make good songs, because if we do that, people will listen to our music.”
So don’t be afraid, Il Volo will not distort its nature, it will promote new beautiful music and of course it will always have its baggage of bel canto and opera that we all know well, I’m sure of it and I really hope they will succeed in their intent.❤
But July is not over yet and there are still many events, see you soon!!
Today’s story is about the guys meeting, ironing out the wrinkles, developing a friendship and becoming Brothers!
When these three young men started out, they were 15 and 16 years old. Think of being 15 or 16 years old and you have a dream, and someone tells you that that dream, needs to be shared. To fulfill that dream you have to leave your family, your friends, your home, you have to go to another country and, you have to share this journey with two people who you really know nothing about except that they had the same dream you did. You have to trust that the decision that was made by you and your family, was the right decision. If not, it’s back to square one! You’re going to be lonely and, you have to learn to survive without the people you love. So, you learn to lean on one another. That dependence turns into a friendship and that friendship into a brotherhood. It enabled them to trust enough to collaborate and perfect something truly amazing. Something that revolutionized the music industry. Let me go further by showing you a collaboration by these three amazing, very, very talented, young men that is so unreal that it boggles your mind. This is a collaboration of love. You will notice that the whole Orchestra is in awe and Giampiero Grani can’t stop smiling. Stop and listen to this performance of “Por Una Cabeza”.
Look at how they smile at one another during the performance. A smile that says yes that’s it! Their faces are ablaze! Their expressions let one another know that it works. And, finally, when it’s over, they are so excited they can hardly contain themselves. Look at how their faces are lit up! Their joy is shown in their amazing, smiles and their embraces! This says it all! They are brothers who love one another!
To help you understand this relationship better, I am including an article from October 10, 2019, which was translated by Daniela and, explains in the guys’ own words how they grew together.
The well-known Italian magazine SORRISI E CANZONI TV, dedicated the cover photo and presented a beautiful interview of Il Volo by Solange Savagnone. But before we begin, let’s see what the guys were up to!
Budapest! The stained-glass window of the room overlooks a square in the historic center. Inside, in a secluded area, a group of people are in tears from laughing. Ignazio has just hit the center, on the third attempt, throwing a cap with his thumb into a mug of beer on the opposite side of the table.
Gianluca, between a miso soup and shrimp in tempura, interrupts the jokes to greet a young Greek tourist who approaches to ask for a selfie. And while Ignazio sings the tune of a robiola commercial and Piero chats with his friend Priscilla Presley, Michele Torpedine uses his chopsticks from his Japanese dinner to present his first career in life, that of a drummer.
The scene seems crazy to us but it’s perfectly normal for the guys.
“We like to say that it is ten years of friendship! Music and loyalty are the most important thing,” explains Gianluca. “We are three leaders and sometimes it is not easy to live together, but we have grown together and, we have helped each other, both professionally and humanly. We are like brothers.” And that sums it up but it’s only the beginning of my article.
The exact day in which their partnership was born was April 25th, 2009, the third episode of Ti Lascio Una Canzone. But of course, this is the part of the story that everyone knows. So, without delay let us go to the interview.
How have you changed since then?
Ignazio: In addition to changing physically, we have grown professionally. On stage, however, we feel the same adrenaline of the early days. Singing for us is not a job, but a passion, a fun, a way to feel complete.
The first time you met, what did you think of each other?
Piero: Ignazio was unpleasant to me. I remember him on the bus he was singing, but he was also the first one I tied with. Gianluca, instead, was in the group of dudes ……
Ignazio: I never thought about this, Gianluca was on the sidelines, but then it was natural to be together.
Gianluca: When you’re small and you’re on Rai1, you do everything they tell you. The program lasted nine weeks and we were rivals, a bit of envy was created and, in those days we exchanged only a few words. But the success we received was incredible.
What’s left of those kids?
Piero: Everything. We are always us and we have fun at every concert. We have the same passion and spontaneity of those times. Before going on stage, we laugh about everything. We do not follow a script. We help each other and we get excited a little. We are not spoiled. We have certain needs, just because we need them to stay healthy and do concerts well. The responsibility we have towards those who work with us, and the public, is enormous. If one of us gets sick and misses two or three concerts, it’s a disaster. So, to avoid the risk, maybe we avoid going to the disco.
Ignazio: Also, because we always sing live. This summer, for example, after the concert in Palermo, I didn’t go out with friends, because the next day we had another concert in Taormina.
Gianluca: Musically speaking, we are always in search of perfection, and we strive to grow and make people understand who we are.
How can you grow as brothers without being brothers?
Piero: It was difficult, but lately our relationship has improved. Before, we were spiteful, now we openly say to each other, what is wrong. There is no grudge between us.
Gianluca: There is a difference between being together for work, or by choice. In the first case there is a little tension, when instead we are together to have fun, it is another thing, indeed we should do it more often.
You have very different characters. What is your way of living love, family, friendship and social media?
Ignazio: I am the least social of the three. I know it’s important to keep my private for myself. A little privacy, it takes. My character is particular, I am sensitive, but very strong and hard. I do everything, but you must respect me.
Gianluca: I am a little narcissistic because I need confirmation. In kindergarten, I always asked the teacher twice if I was good. And this insecurity, I brought it with me, until today.
Every day I speak to my parents, my dearest ones, my girlfriend. I vent with them, as well as with Piero and Ignazio. We love each other. On social media, if I put lots of photos, the fans are happy, the haters are a little less, but I continue to be myself.
Piero: We can’t hide anything between us. If I lie, they notice it. With the people I know and choose, I am very generous, open, sunny. But I only trust my best friend, my brother and my sister. I have a big flaw: for me, either it’s white or it’s black, I give you my heart, but if you do me a wrong, you’re dead.
Gianluca: I have learned that we must try to understand why a person behaves in a certain way. I never hold a grudge. Piero instead gets angry, for the criticisms and the free offenses.
Piero: In fact, before I used social media so much, now only for work things.
The secrets of your success?
Piero: The first is that we study a lot. The second is our manager, Torpedine, who has been following us for years. The third is the music we sing.
Gianluca: But talent and work alone are not enough, sometimes timing counts. To be recognized, you have to be special, and we were the first to perform at a very young age, in bel canto: this struck people’s hearts.
Who are the hottest fans?
Gianluca: Perhaps the South Americans. (Torpedine told us that in Mexico, fans broke through the window of the hotel where they were staying.)
Piero: But even in Bulgaria, they showed us unexpected affection. And the Japanese, apparently so rigid, go wild during the concerts and come to the front of the stage.
Gianluca: Let’s say that with our performances, we help the public to free themselves. We tend to make a very engaging event, not a serious concert.
How can you not let this go to your head?
Gianluca: With intelligence you cannot get carried away by the wave of success, but the people who follow you and the support of the family matter a lot. Staying attached to the origins is the most important thing. If you let it go to your head, then people will notice it.
What are you missing when you’re on tour?
Gianluca: Normal life.
Ignazio: Waking up at home, carrying the dog around, everyday life.
Piero: After the concert at the Arena di Verona, I went home one day and enjoyed that moment, like never before. I felt an immense pleasure in going to the laundry and to the yogurt shop: it was how I did it for the first time.
Do you want to try your hand at some other musical genre?
Gianluca: If we changed genre, we would no longer be us and people would no longer recognize our music.
In ten years, how do you see yourself?
Ignazio: Ten years ago, they asked us the same thing and we didn’t know what to answer. Our way of thinking has changed: so, I would have answered married, with children, today not. Situations change.
Piero: I don’t know, new artists are born every day, the future is a question mark. We hope not to disappoint the fans.
Who do you want to thank for what you are now?
Piero: If today we celebrate ten years of career it is thanks to the fans, we have grown together and we hope to celebrate with them 50 years of career!
Gianluca: We thank the musical heritage we have, the bel canto, which has allowed us to travel around the world.
Ignazio: Words are not enough to thank all those who deserve it. I say thanks to those who believed in us, Michele Torpedine, our manager, and those who work closely with us. And thanks to life, for what he has given us: voice and luck (words that are tattooed on Ignazio’s arm).
Piero: And thanks to Sorrisi for this cover and for having always supported us.
How about when you are on tour or in your hotel rooms etc.
Piero: In the room I always ask that they cover the carpet with sheets, because I am allergic and, I must preserve the voice. I always have two suitcases, a big one with all the clothes and things I need (including Sicilian vacuum-packed almonds and natural tuna in a can) and an emergency trolley, with a second dress for the concert, for safety. And an agenda on which I record the commitments. Including this interview for Sorrisi.
Ignazio: When I’m on tour, in Italy, I always carry my guitar with me, abroad, unfortunately not. I go to the gym in fact we only choose hotels with a fitness area. In the room I relax as much as possible, maybe watching a soccer game on my mobile (I support Juventus). I also play football, as an offensive midfielder, and I’m pretty good. In fact, when I’m at home, every Wednesday, I go to play with friends. And when I can, I make two tennis matches with Piero.
Gianluca: I have no special requests and I adapt easily. I am very tidy, almost maniacal, I keep everything perfectly folded and, I even line up my slippers. I am lactose intolerant and pay attention to what I eat: rice, fish, vegetables, protein snacks and for breakfast pancakes with egg whites and peanut butter. Once a week we “go” with a pizza. I don’t smoke, I don’t drink and, I have never been drunk in my life, because I don’t like losing control. I train early in the morning and go for a run. Sport has changed my character. I have become more willing and disciplined.
In the final chapter of their book,Un’avventura straordinario, La nostra storia(An Extraordinary Adventure, Our Story)the guys sum of their life story. I can’t think of a better way to sum up my story than by having them sum up their story as they did in their book where….
…. the true and only secret of the success of our three lives is told.
When they asked us to write this book, our first thought was, “Finally,” finally we can tell the truth.” In a three-minute interview you cannot tell a life, but in a book yes. And that’s what we tried to do in these pages: tell our true story.
Which is a normal story, of three guys like many who had a great passion and were lucky enough to be able to transform that passion into what today makes them live and makes them famous.
Being successful is beautiful, it would be stupid to say no after we have so dreamed and desired, but you need to quickly understand something, and that is, that it is not only our merit.
The people who follow us have a large part of that merit.
And knowing it is what gratifies us the most.
It is wonderful to know that we have shared our emotions with those who listen to us.
That’s why we work, and that’s why we try to give everything when we sing, we live in a concert or recording studio. And that’s why we do our work always with the maximum of passion, so that we can create what for us is magic, the magic of emotion that passes from our voices to people.
Fans are the reason, the only real explanation of what happened to us from 2009 till today, the records, the tours around the world, the victory at Sanremo, what we are finally living in Italy.
During a concert we would like to embrace all the people before us, one by one, we would like to be able to say: “Thank you!” with our voices to all. And we want to thank them if we are in the studio to record, if we fill the halls in concerts, if we are in the charts, if we go around the world.
Our “fans” are everything!
…. for all we have done so far, let’s say thanks to those who have followed us. And we will continue our great adventure together!
I think their interview and the book have come together to show How Strangers Became Brothers!
Join me next week as I go back Through the Fields of My Mind and open the door to a new adventure!
Staying in Hungry, today I would like to share with you a letter from Adrienn Gyorffy who lives in Hungry.
Dear Ladies, Il Volo Flight Crew!
I have been reading your newsletter for a few months now, and first of all I would like to thank you for all the news and information you share. I am a new fan of the guys, and thanks to Il Volo Flight Crew I have learnt a lot from them.
I am not an extroverted person so, I have not commented on the articles, news. But now I have felt an urge to share my story with you and to start a little diary of my last and next couple of days, just for fun, for myself. So, I share my story with you. It might be interesting for you. A small piece from the other end of the world, from Hungary 🙂
Good to have you, hope you will enjoy my story.
Love, Adrienn
My journey to the land of Il Volo ~ Love at first sight
It happened sometime during the pandemic, when people lost their hope, and the well-known world of ours turned upside down. I was looking for something which is stable, predictable, comforting. And it was my childhood, the lovely memories of my first holiday in Italy…
I was about 8 in 1982, when for the first time, I stepped into the land of the “Poisonous WEST” over the Iron Curtain. To a child brought up in communist Hungary, it was like the Garden of Eden. The sun, the sea, oranges straight from the tree (we could get oranges and bananas only a few times of the year if my mom was lucky enough to get a few after hours of queuing, strictly for us, for the children. Even if she was yearning for a bite, she would never eat one as it was a great treasure), and of course Italian music.
So going back to my original story when I started losing my hope during the pandemic, I started listening to the music of my childhood, the music that my parents were listening to, Al Bano and Romina Power, Toto Cutugno, Ricchi e Poveri etc. It brought back all the lovely memories. I was searching on the web for all the old and new appearances of them, when I encountered this:
I was enchanted by the voice of the young guy. He was so cute, still his voice was a miracle. I could feel goose bumps all over my arms. So, I wrote a name into my browser: Ignazio Boschetto…… and I was lost or saved forever!
As I learned, he was not a little boy anymore, but a handsome young man, with two other remarkable young artists, Piero Barone, Gianluca Ginoble – Il Volo.
I have never been a fan type of girl. I learnt musical instruments and loved music and was listening to music all the time, when I was younger, but never had anybody I was rajong (crazy about). But now at the age of 47 it struck me, and specially the impact of their music on me. It brought back the energy, the hope, the love of life, the dreams one tends to lose as time goes by. It pulled me out from the egyszínű (solid) weekdays when I was operating as Mom only. I found my ego and have my dreams and desires back again. Their music has filled me up with vitality and it still does. When I am tired, feeling down or just lost, I listen to Il Volo and I am back to normal, or when I am feeling gracious for my life I also listen to the guys and, I get even closer to the One I have to say thank you for my wonderful life.
So here I was the new fan of Il Volo, reading all the news I could find about them, especially Il Volo Flight Crew, where I learnt their history as well. I was listening to all the interviews. Luckily the English ones were not a problem, but the Italian interviews shows their real personalities, so I decided to start learning Italian to understand them J And I also started to look for the concert venues to be able to see them live. You can imagine how furious I was when I found out at the spring of 2021 that they were in Hungary in 2019. But as a real fan (sometimes I feel like a teenager, they should be fans, not Moms with two children) I didn’t give up. Then the next obstacle was, that during Covid you cannot travel and besides all the concerts were cancelled, but miracles DO happen…
I was at Lake Balaton with my 10-year-old when scrolling the social media, I read somewhere that the only European concert which is not postponed is the one in Croatia. It is 5 hours driving from here…
I am not a spontaneous woman, especially not since I have had my children, but it struck me. I called my husband, saying that I have to go, sorted out the children with the help of my mom and bought the ticket 2 days before the concert. And YES, here I am, I am going to Il Volo concert to Opatija tomorrow!!! Whish me luck and will come back with the details of the concert soon.
