We know that young Korean singers appreciate the music of Il Volo very much, in fact they often offer their songs, even in the Italian language.
It must be really difficult for them, a language so different from their own, but they have sensed that our boys’ songs are beautiful in their original language.
Yesterday, on Twitter, thanks to ItaGuyIV, the videos of two songs were published, don’t pay attention to the syncro, because the audio is not well synchronized with the video, ………. but you already have heard these songs ??
Yes, it is MUSICA CHE RESTA and VICINISSIMO, but what a strange impression to hear these sung like this. Anyway congratulations to these three Asian guys.
It seems to be a competition performance and seeing the reactions of the participating boys (all very young) it seems to me that this genre is very popular. It has a certain effect to think that the songs of Il Volo are taken as a model, analyzed and copied for a singing competition.
But I am proud of this.
Of course, they are still far from imitating the union of the voices of our three boys!!
While trying to find news about our three boys, there was this nice message from IL VOLO:
You have always been close to us with great affection, with your voices that accompanied ours during concerts, with your heart and with your words also through the many messages you send us. This time it is we who send you a message full of affection, we are here to gather around you in this particularly difficult period. We will come out stronger than before, together!
After the concert in Monte Carlo, and the party in Sicily, Piero Ignazio and Gianluca returned to their homes.
Sometimes, some fans have an unexpected meeting, and then publish the photos and so we too can see where our favorites are.
Ignazio was photographed in a barber shop in Milazzo, a Sicilian town.
Piero, visited the beautifulPalatine Chapel in Palermo.
The Palatine Chapel is located in the Norman Palace and is entirely covered with gold mosaics from the Byzantine era.
It is a Unesco heritage site.
Gianluca went to L’Aquila to see the PERDONANZA CELESTINIANA 2020.
If you remember, in 2019, a year ago, IL Volo did the concert for the Perdonanza Celestiniana and it was a great success.
In this photo, Gianluca with master Leonardo de Amicis, who directed Gianluca, Ignazio and Piero at TI LASCIO UNA CANZONE.
The photo was posted by Leonardo de Amicis with this dedication:
“Friendship, affection and esteem.”
The latest news is that Il Volo will participate in an event in the Arena in Verona, to support the “invisible” people (workers, electricians, audio technicians, etc.) who work for the concerts and that COVID19 has reduced without work.
There will be many singers including Il Volo. The event will be broadcast by RAI 1 on 5 September.
For now, that’s it.
Let me know what you think of Korean singers singing in Italian.
As for Piero Ignazio and Gianluca, even if it will be for one song only, I am really happy to see them on RAI1, in a few days.
Scrolling through various publications, I found this post by Maura Pucci really very funny and particular and, of course, she talks about Gianluca!!
I am in the beautiful garden of Santa Severa, a seaside town near Rome, with my historical friends from my holidays, engaged in pleasant conversations. I have my tablet with me, hoping to give it a peek from time to time …
As my most assiduous Facebook friends may have noticed, I have not been present on the internet very much this month of August. Luckily, in a moment in which speeches languish, I have the possibility and I immediately go to Instagram and the screen lights up …. immensely!
It appears to me immediately, the last photo of Gianluca at the sea, as always a dazzling image of Italic and Mediterranean beauty.
I’m used to his breathtaking images that I have by the dozen by now. Personally, I don’t like to talk too much about his beauty.
Everything that could be said about him in this regard has been said by others, even that he resembles a Greek divinity, or Michelangelo’s David ….
I have always preferred to speak of his voice, even if, immodestly, I consider myself sufficiently expert and rational to evaluate CLEARLY, that is with the brain and not with the heart, both one and the other.
These are my premises to get to tell you how it ended …. In a few seconds I decided to seize an unrepeatable opportunity for fun. My friends know Il Volo well, because I’ve been talking to them for years. They follow Il Volo, when they appear on TV (and they automatically think of me: inevitable!).
But they have always rightly seen Gianluca in other clothes, elegant or casual, but never …. without clothes, that is in the version of a “mermaid” 😁😁
I want to amaze them, with … special effects, let’s call them that, and see closely the effect it does ..! 😂😂
I extend to Agnese, the closest friend, my tablet with the beautiful photo. She opens her eyes wide and says, “Damn! And who is this ACTOR??” She looks at me.
I don’t answer, assuming a Sphinx-like expression.
The others interrupt the chatter and look at us curiously. Agnese resumes the exam and adds: “Do you know who remembers me vaguely? Your “Gianluca from Il Volo!”
I don’t understand if the photo really reminds her vaguely, or if she guessed it and jokes, slyly, knowing my weakness ..
Is it him? Of course, it’s him!
My tablet passes into other hands and the general conclusion is this:
He is WASTED TO BE A SINGER.
Perhaps in the future he could be enticed from singing to acting … A request has already been received and rejected due to too many commitments. But if he had to face this new experience, stopping singing, it makes me think that he would be WASTED TO BE AN ACTOR.
Time will tell…..
I laughed, reading this story by Maura, imagining the scene, of her proudly showing the photo of Gianluca!!
Grandma Maura, you are really cool!!😘
And here is my opinion.
I don’t see anything wrong if Gian were to do some part as an actor, but it has to be a decent film, not necessarily a film where there are songs.
However, this must not affect the Il Volo trio. Il Volo is the priority and remains. All three have always stated that there may be small single projects, but the group remains intact.
I also think it really wasted that such a beautiful voice, like Gianluca’s, is silenced for an acting career.
Both things can coexist !! (such as: Lady Gaga, Jennifer Lopez, Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra …. and more).😉
We have come to the end of our journey. Over the last three and a half months I have been sharing with you An Extraordinary Adventure as Seen through My Eyes. I hope you enjoyed the stories as much as I enjoyed sharing them with you.
I took the original book which consisted of mostly dialogues and short stories between the boys and changed it to a narrative so you could truly appreciate their stories.
And what extraordinary stories they were. I acted as the narrator and lead you from one story to another always allowing the boys to tell the story in their own words. After a while, the boys took over and carried me along on their journey. A very exciting adventure!
What did I find out about the boys in this book? I found out that Piero is an excellent storyteller. When he tells you a story, he includes every little detail so when the story is over you know everything there is to know about that story. I found out that Ignazio is an excellent writer. He is the only one who wrote his story. Ignazio is very articulate. His words just flow off the page. Because of this, his story was the easiest to edit. As to Gianluca I was surprised to find out he was such a romantic. Everything that is important to him is a passion. He invests himself in what he loves and believes in: Family, Music, Country and Soccer!
I have read the book about 10 times over the last three months. Going back and forth from Italian to English to be sure that the facts were correct. I have edited other books but this one was truly an adventure. Maybe because the characters meant something to me.
Before I go any further there are some people who I would like to thank for giving me the opportunity to share this story. First and foremost, Piero, Ignazio and Gianluca. They were aware that I was telling their story yet, never once did they ask me to stop telling it. It’s their story and they could have stopped me at any time. Next, I would like to thank Michele Torpedine for also giving me a free hand to share it!
As to the book Il Volo Un’avventura Straordinaria, La nostra storia, (An Extraordinary Adventure, our story)let me say it is a wonderful book and anyone who can read Italian should read it.
Many people have asked me why I don’t translate the book. It’s not my book to translate. All I can say is I would love to translate and edit the book for the English version.
Before I hand you over for the last time, let me leave you with this thought. This story truly was an extraordinary story about three young boys, child prodigies, who travelled the same path but started in different places: Naro, Bologna and Montepagano. I often think and I have just recently said in one of the stories, how is it possible that three amazing boys, with three extraordinary voices, that complement one another, wound up in the same place, at the same time, in history. My only answer is divine intervention. God had a plan and what a plan it was! He gave us three voices that would stay with us for a long time and certainly for me till the end of my days.
So, before we bid the boys farewell, I’ll let them tell their final story which is about the one disappointment they had. Or as Ignazio put it, “Eurovision… one of those things that I do not like to talk about, but we’re telling the truth, so let’s tell it all.” So, for the last time let’s join Piero as he tells us about what happened at Eurovision….
Piero: Vienna, the 60th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest, was a rather strange experience because we came as favorites. So, we were loaded, convinced! From February 14th to May 17th , the day we arrived in Vienna, we sang “Grande Amore” so many times that we convinced ourselves even more that we would make it. I mean, Gianluca and I, convinced ourselves while Ignazio was pessimistic as usual. However, Gian, your presentiment this time is really wrong.
Gianluca:But do you know what happened to Eurovision? Unlike Sanremo, the vote of the public was not as important as the Festival: fifty percent vote from home and fifty percent vote of the jury of journalists. And this put us at a disadvantage. But the public had voted for us, we arrived first for the people at home.
I cried when it was over. Why did I cry? I knew we had lost not because people did not love us, but for other reasons. Mom, I cried….
Ignazio: Do we really have to talk about it? I’m not so happy to talk about Eurovision because I do not have a great memory.
Piero: What a blow that night …
Gianluca: I started crying, then I looked at Piero, he too cried …
Piero: Gianluca in the end had convinced me to say: “We win, we win.” We had taken it in Sanremo, it could be that we would take it in Vienna, right?
Gianluca: Look, I guessed, because we won the televoting, I repeat it.
Ignazio: And I always am the pessimistic one, with my feet on the ground, saying, “No, guys, it’s hard. It does not say that we succeed.” Even though I had believed it myself a bit.
But it happened that we got third, behind the Russian Polina Gagarina, second with A Million Voices, and the Swedish Mans Zelmerlow who won with Heroes.
Gianluca took it very badly, he cried. Piero as well. Everyone took it very bad. What could I say?: “Come on, guys, we got third, not everyone does that, the last one was Modugno.”
Piero:In the end, however, Gianluca and I looked at each other, a look as if to say: “Now what do we do?”, and a moment before we cried and the next moment we laughed. We had lost, what could we do? By now, it had happened.
Gianluca:We could not cry forever. And then, the public’s heart was ours.
Ignazio: Instead, the undersigned, after having done a little shoulder to others, the next morning I felt very bad, but very bad. For two or three days I was very bad, I threw it all out, later.
Piero: In life you cannot always win, that’s what we learned.
Where’s the beauty? Not all women can say yes to you. After that, how do you try to seduce one, if you already know that she will tell you yes?
So, when we came back from Vienna, many people in Italy asked: “Are you sad about the third place?”
Absolutely not, indeed we are very satisfied, but maybe even too satisfied, because our goal of Eurovision was to show us to two hundred and twenty million people. Even in Australia they saw us. But think how many are two hundred and twenty million people? A sea, is, a sea!
And can I tell you something? I have never loved the tricolor flag so much in my life.
Knowing we were there at the Wiener Stadthalle with the roar of sixteen thousand people to hear us sing live and another two hundred million to see us at home, to know that we at that moment represented Italy for all of Europe is a great responsibility, however it is also a great stimulus to do it in the best possible way.
We represent it around the world with singing, with belcanto, and we believe we have done it better in Vienna. We put it all, we worked hard, we really gave our heart for this occasion.
It was a completely different experience from the others because it was not a competition between artists, it was a competition between Countries, it was a competition between origins, and we were there to defend our nation.
It was really very strong!
It would be nice to come back there, but first we should win another Sanremo Festival!
Goodbye for Now
In which the true and only secret of the success of our three lives is told.
When they asked us to write this book, our first thought was, “Finally,” finally we can tell the truth.” In a three-minute interview you cannot tell a life, but in a book yes. And that’s what we tried to do in these pages: tell our true story.
Which is a normal story, of three guys like many who had a great passion and were lucky enough to be able to transform that passion into what today makes them live and makes them famous.
Being successful is beautiful, it would be stupid to say no after we have so dreamed and desired, but you need to quickly understand something, and that is, that it is not only our merit.
The people who follow us have a large part of that merit.
And knowing it is what gratifies us the most.
It is wonderful to know that we have shared our emotions with those who listen to us.
That’s why we work, and that’s why we try to give everything when we sing, we live in a concert or recording studio. And that’s why we do our work always with the maximum of passion, so that we can create what for us is magic, the magic of emotion that passes from our voices to people.
Fans are the reason, the only real explanation of what happened to us from 2009 till today, the records, the tours around the world, the victory at Sanremo, what we are finally living in Italy.
During a concert we would like to embrace all the people before us, one by one, we would like to be able to say: “Thank you!” with our voices to all. And we want to thank them if we are in the studio to record, if we fill the halls in concerts, if we are in the charts, if we go around the world.
Our “fans” are everything!
We do not know what we will decide to do after the new album and the winter tour. We do not know if we will return to Sanremo, if we will take a vacation, if we will immediately start thinking about another album, new songs to fill your emotions and our emotions.
But for sure, for all we have done so far, let’s say thanks to those who have followed us. And we will continue our great adventure together! Goodbye for now!
Many of us had the opportunity to witness a spectacular event on Instagram and Facebook yesterday! It was an event that will live long in my mind. This was the culmination of a five-city tour of the movie“Devotion” the story of Dolce & Gabbana. It was a love story for Sicily.
People waited in long lines in Piazza Trinità to grab tickets for the event of the year by Polizzi Generosa, namely the film “Devotion” by Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana. Since the early hours of dawn, many people stormed the square for the opening of the Info Point. The 700 applicants arrived around noon. In addition to the issue of the single ticket, the delivery of the related Covid-19 self-declaration form to be completed and presented for entry.
Given the number of seats in the square and the number of people booked, the film was screened in three sessions with the first show starting at 9.15 pm.
Piero, Ignazio and Gianluca were special guests of Domenico and Stefano. They were there to celebrate Domenico’s birthday and to join the family and to participate in many events.
After the squares of Syracuse, Caltagirone, Castellammare del Golfo and Palermo, the Dolce & Gabbana tour ended in Polizzi Generosa, the birthplace of Domenico Dolce, in the fifth stage of the most beautiful places in Sicily. Devotion was a great success with the public. “Devotion” reflects the history, originality and love of Dolce for his country, together with his inseparable colleague Stefano Gabbana, “Sicilian by adoption”.
The event brought an influx of people, from the early hours of the day. They guys spent part of the day walking around the town and meeting the people. Stopping to take photos with anyone who asked them. Piero had a great time traveling around town in a truck decorated with the colors of Sicily. He was accompanied by some of the Dolce family. Gianluca walked around town and stopped to take some interesting pictures including one of him on a balcony posing as the Holy Father at a Sunday Angelus! And Ignazio walked around the town stopping to talk to people along the way. There was a big treat for Piero when the local Pastry shop brought him some yummy treats.
From the balcony of Domenico’s house, the guys sang, “Grande Amore” and was accompanied by the whole town. And the highlight of the afternoon was Ignazio singing with the Gabbana children. I don’t know who had more fun! Ignazio or the kids. I haven’t seen the boys have this much fun in a long time.
During the week Domenico Dolce shuttled between his town and the first four Sicilian stops and, inaugurated the Dolce Foundation, and in the context he celebrated his 62nd birthday among his fellow citizens, with party, joy, and the music of Riccardo Termini another Polizzano artist now known to all who, with his friscaletto (wind instrument, typical Sicilian) played in a week of joy for everyone.
The parade commenced with Domenico walking through the town with Piero, Ignazio and Gianluca. Then the festivities began. Spectacular performances by Sicilian folklore groups. Men and women in traditional Sicilian costumes danced to traditional folklore music. Their costumes were all the splendid colors of Sicily. The horses were in grand regalia. Domenico’s family and the guys watched all the events below from the balcony.
After dinner everyone sang Happy Birthday to Domenico and the guys presented Domenico with a painting by Fabio Ingrassia. The painting depicts Domenico at 6 years old making his first trousers helped by tailors from his fathers’ tailor shop. On Instagram, Gianluca points out one of the men in the painting which looks very much like Fabio Ingrassia. A statement in the painting! Why not, all great artists, represent themselves in their work. After the presentation, Piero sang a beautiful, Sicilian, folk song for Domenico.
In the evening everyone went to the square to watch the movie which was followed by a grand fireworks display. As Ignazio was watching and, recording he was singing along with the music some of the old Sicilian songs.
The event was a Testimonial of Sicily in Italy and in the world. A truly once in a lifetime event and we got to witness it along with our dear guys!! Thank you for bringing us along!
All seats are now sold out for the concert at the Opéra Garnier in Monte-Carlo in honor of the ten-year career of the trio that has become the pride of Italian music
After postponing the Italian stages, Il Volo returns to perform in the Principality for an evening of Monegasque elegance. Tickets sold at 283 euros each are now all sold out. The Monte Carlo Opera House, which is located in the casino complex, was designed by Charles Garnier, the famous architect of the Opéra Garnier in Paris, and seats 524 people.
The Best of 10 Years!
The tour is entitled “Il Volo – The best of 10 years”. Indeed, in 2019 the group celebrated ten years of career. Piero Barone, Ignazio Boschetto and Gianluca Ginoble met in 2009 during the TV talent show “Ti lascio una canzone”. They will become a trio, nicknamed “the tenorini”, even if, while Boschetto and Barone are tenors, Ginoble is baritone.
It was in 2015 that they confirmed themselves as ambassadors of the Italian musical tradition when, after winning the Sanremo festival with the song “Grande Amore”, the same singing event that revealed, among others, Eros Ramazzotti and Laura Pausini.
To celebrate their ten-year career, the group released the album “The best of 10 years” in 2019, with which it is preparing to kick off the new world tour, which started in Japan, touched Europe, North and Latin America and will not fail to stop in Monte Carlo for a memorable evening!
There are rehearsals for the concert and our guys, like good professionals, are always there to optimize their performance.
As you can see from the next short video, the theater is really very small, a small chest, a treasure.
But here we are at the time of the concert.
Unfortunately, there are very few and incomplete videos, but even if we can see and hear very little, what we can get makes us understand that the boys are in excellent vocal and physical form!!
NESSUN DORMA – IL MONDO
MY WAY
IL MONDO – UN AMORE COSÌ GRANDE
Between one song and another, Piero Ignazio and Gianluca entertain the audience with some chat, but very nice things have also been said that I am now translating to you. Sorry I didn’t attach the video, but they can’t be viewed in the US.
Ignazio = We have always said that for us, singing for 10 thousand people or for 300 people is the same thing.
And today, now that we are OBLIGED to have smaller capacities (due to Covid19), we can really live what we said.
Piero = Because there is no such gap between audience and stage …
Ignazio = … it’s like we were in the family, (addresses the audience) and sometimes, you know, singing in front of a few people is more difficult than singing in front of a lot of people, the emotion is different.
Gianluca = Let’s say that, wearing masks, we don’t see your expressions, but we see your eyes, and we hope to fill you with joy. (applause)
GRANDE AMORE
Here they are arrived at Palermo airport, the voice on the loudspeaker recommends maintaining the interpersonal distance of at least 1 meter and wearing a mask ………. good guys, observe the rules!!
But why did all three boys return to Sicily?
What other news is there?
We see from the photos published Gian and Piero in Selinunte, places full of history, will it be only for vacation???
But then, we find Piero Ignazio and Gianluca in Polizzi Generosa, a Sicilian town, where the designer Domenico Dolce (D&G) was born.
Why are they in Polizzi Generosa?
On 13 August was Domenico Dolce’s birthday and today, 16 August in Polizzi Generosa, is a Sunday of celebration, there are stalls and tonight, the film by D&G Devotion will be screened in the square and at the end there will be the fireworks.
Our boys will easily be present at the film screening. It will be a good party, too bad not to be there!!
Here are some moments of the typical party in the streets of the small town. How many people, there is no social distancing, beware guys!!
Well done, you guys stay on Domenico Dolce’s balcony, away from the crowd.
What a great celebration, and the boys are so happy.
Il Volo and Domenico Dolce, Music and Fashion at a high level. 💜
(Click on each photo below for a close up view.)
Here is the promo of the film at Polizzi Generosa.
The fireworks at the end of the documentary film.
Your voices in Monte Carlo were perfect, and seeing you so happy in Sicily fills our hearts.
But we, who feel like yours, mothers, grandmothers, sisters, recommend you: “Stay safe.”
Daniela
It is true that in Sicily the infections have been very limited, but why risk it? The Italian government, seeing the trend of the last days of the people in Italy, has again imposed, from August 17, the closure of discos and the obligation of the mask, even on the street from 06:00 pm until 06:00 am.
This beautiful painting given to Domenico Dolce during his birthday party is made by Fabio Ingrassia.
Here’s what Fabio wrote on his fanpage:
“I made my first trousers when I was 6 with the help of tailors in my father’s tailor shop.”
This sentence was my starting point when they commissioned me a painting for Domenico Dolce.
I had to somehow represent a concept, stop for a moment, right where the magic was born, a child prodigy who for the first time discovered his world … those little hands sewed a dream that would soon become a fantastic reality!
Baroque and revolutionary like Caravaggio, traditionalist and elegant like Black and White. ❤️
THE CREATION oil on canvas 70×100

Wonderful work: Congratulations to Fabio Ingrassia! ❤️
