We were all waiting for the news of the birth confirmation. Gabriele was born on September 4th, and mom Michelle and dad Ignazio are incredibly happy.
No photos of the little one will be published. Furthermore, in Italy there is a law that prohibits publishing photos of children, and if they do, their faces must be blurred.
But the important thing is that Gabriele and his parents are doing well, so we are all happy for them and send a huge WELCOME to little Gabriele and many congratulations to mom and dad. ❤️💙❤️
I’m taking this post as an opportunity to recap what’s happened so far in August.
On August 24th, Il Volo was a guest on Giovanni Zarrella Show, where they performed “CAPOLAVORO.” Here’s the video.
In this video, in addition to the song, you can see a short interview with Il Volo and Giovanni Zarrella. Unfortunately, I don’t understand German, but I can translate Piero, Ignazio, and Gianluca’s answers, which are in Italian.
(The question follows in German; I assume he’s asking Il Volo about their upcoming tour)
PIERO = Yes, we’re coming to Germany in November, we’ll be doing six concerts: Berlin, Munich, Munich…there are six, Leipzig…(he also asks Ignazio for help, but they don’t remember all of them)
GIANLUCA = We’ll be performing all over Germany. We’re very happy because our Italian culture, our music, is conquering not only Italians but the whole world, and it’s truly wonderful to be able to follow in the footsteps of our idols like Bocelli, Pavarotti, and so many others. We’re very happy and proud of the support our fans are giving us.
GIOVANNI = (question in German)
IGNAZIO = For us, music has no limits, music has no barriers. Ultimately, our goal is to continue this musical genre, lyrical pop. We cannot forget the songs that have been part of Italian culture like “Il Mondo” or operas like “Nessun Dorma” and as he (Gianluca) said, maintaining the Italian tradition and following in the footsteps of greats like Bocelli, Pavarotti, this is the goal.
PIERO = I can also take this moment to thank you for what you do, for inviting us, every time we come to Germany and we come to your place, we come back to a friend’s place and officially invite you to one of our concerts. You decide which concert, we want to see you.
GIOVANNI = answers in German.
IGNAZIO = (in German but I think I understand) We love you Giovanni!
GIOVANNI = (he speaks in German)
PIERO = Look, this year we’re celebrating our almost 17 years together with a world tour and seeing the audience that has grown with us over these 17 years. What we thank our audience for is their loyalty. They’ve been following us for so many years and that’s why we do so many concerts. Without them, neither we nor you could work, so we are forever grateful to our audience.
GIOVANNI = (he speaks in German)
GIANLUCA = If you want, it would be great to sing with you one day (Giovanni is a singer as well as a presenter)
GIOVANNI = (Shakes hands as if promising and says goodbye to Il Volo)
Short video for questions during the show, backstage.
In this photo Il Volo with Ricchi e Poveri, a duo of famous Italian singers and Giovanni Zarrella.
Gianluca and Piero backstage before the performance.
Videos and photos taken during the Youth Jubilee by a foreign interviewer are still being published and are worth seeing for the beautiful messages they convey.
PIERO = To all digital missionaries and Catholic influencers I send a big hug and a great message of hope.
QUESTION = What do you think of digital missionaries, Catholic influencers?
IGNAZIO = (The interviewer is Spanish) I’ll tell you in Spanish.
(I don’t know Spanish but since it’s similar to Italian I think I can figure out what’s going on.)
I think it’s good when a good message is spread, and thanks to digital technology it can reach more people, but the most important thing is that it’s a good message.
I think it’s also very important for all young people who are approaching God, who are seeking God, and for them to discover the thoughts of other people, their experiences, and those who have come to faith.
MAN = Thank you!
IGNAZIO = You’re welcome!
And then, in August, come images of relaxation, vacations, and family.
Gianluca sends beautiful images from the Dolomites (high, distinctive mountains in northern Italy).
Ignazio remained close to his Michelle. He published beautiful photos of him and Michelle during the final stages of her pregnancy.
Piero remained in his native Sicily. During his vacation in Agrigento, there was a concert by Fiorella Mannoia, the talented singer who often performed with Il Volo. Piero went to see her concert; this article, which I’m partially translating for you, talks about Piero’s presence in the audience on the evening of the concert.
Piero Barone at Fiorella Mannoia’s concert: the tenor from Il Volo entertained the audience.
Piero Barone was among the VIP guests at Fiorella Mannoia’s concert last night at the Live Arena in Agrigento. The Il Volo singer, in top form, smiling, and open to everyone, met the Roman singer in the dressing room. From the stage, she then said: “A third of Volo came to see me this evening,” she said, smiling. “Piero, where are you…” she exclaimed from the stage. “I admire you so much, you’re wonderful!” The audience broke into a thunderous applause.
Before the show, Piero Barone also spoke to the audience, greeting some disabled guests sitting in the front row and allowing several photos to be taken.
Finally, he paused for a photo with Daniela Ciminnisi and Maria Secondo of the Solide Ali Association in Cammarata, which for years has been transporting cancer patients to various hospitals on the island and also provides wigs to women who lose their hair after undergoing chemotherapy.
On August 30th, in Abruzzo, specifically in L’Aquila (the capital of Abruzzo), the Perdonanza Celestiniana is celebrated from August 23rd to 30th.
The final day concluded with a beautiful open-air concert held in front of the beautiful Basilica of Santa Maria di Collemaggio.
In 2019, Il Volo performed a beautiful concert, and we talked about it here:
Unfortunately, there’s no video of his entire performance, but his performance, though brief, was memorable, and the newspapers raved about it.
Bravo, Gianluca!
Gianluca commented on his presence:
“I’m proud to be from Abruzzo. Maestro Leonardo De Amicis and I have known each other since 2009, along with Piero and Ignazio (he’s the evening’s conductor and a friend since the days of Ti Lascio una Canzone, where he used to prepare the kids for the evenings).
Forgiveness is truly important to me, and I hold the spirituality of forgiveness dear.”
In Italy we will soon see our favorites on television; on Wednesday, September 10, RAI1 will broadcast Fiorella Mannoia’s concert, recorded last year at the Baths of Caracalla. Il Volo also performed a couple of songs with her.
And on September 12th and 13th, RAI1 will broadcast the TIM AWARDS evening live from the Verona Arena, and Il Volo will be among the many singers performing.
I can’t wait to see them again!
So we’ll be back soon, commenting on the performances of our beloved boys.
We titled this post “Gleanings” because it covers various news and videos that have occurred since mid-July and that I haven’t reported.
On July 16th, Il Volo was invited to cover an event organized by the San Donato Group(the group operates in the healthcare sector and is the largest private hospital group in Italy), titled SUMMER NIGHT 2025.
Here is an excerpt from the article published in “Fortune Health Italia,” a healthcare publication.
“A special evening to recognize ‘bridge builders’ working across the Mediterranean. Last night, at Villa Miani in Rome, the 2025 Summer Dinner, promoted annually by Gruppo San Donato, GKSD, and Ecam Council, returned. This event highlighted the international commitment of one of the historic ‘seven sisters’ of healthcare, but also presented a series of awards to individuals committed to fostering growth and spreading health and well-being across Europe, Africa, and the Middle East.
The musical group ‘Il Volo’ was greeted with great enthusiasm, donating their entire fee to the non-profit foundation of the San Donato Group, GSD Foundation ETS, and to the Ale & Franz and Friends Onlus Association.”
Guys, we never had any doubts about your generosity, but once again our hearts are filled with pride.
After this event, our guys returned to their families for a short vacation and delighted us with some of their photos:
PIERO:
GIANLUCA:
IGNAZIO:
And then August arrived, bringing us the beautiful Evento of the Youth Jubilee, of which I attach just a few photos.
I’d like to introduce you to the Popes Il Volo knew:
Pope Francis
Pope Leone XIV
With the Youth Jubilee now over, we all thought Ignazio Piero and Gianluca were enjoying a well-deserved break.
It’s August, the height of the holiday season in Italy, but Il Volo still has time to attend one more event.
Issa Resort inauguration on August 6th in Romania. Here are some short videos and photos from the evening.
And then there’s two pieces of news: the first is that the video of the concert at the Valley of the Temples will be released on August 29st, so it’s already available to order.
On September 30th, the Verona Arena will host a commemoration of Luciano Pavarotti, who would have turned 90.
Il Volo will also be participating in the event!!
And finally, a well-deserved August break. It’s been a very hot August here, and I hope Piero, Gianluca, and Ignazio also enjoy a wonderful holiday, even though for Ignazio and Michelle it will all be preparations for Gabriele’s imminent arrival.
The good news that Il Volo would be participating in the Youth Jubilee was released directly from the Vatican press room.
The Youth Jubilee 2025 is a event that took place in Rome,Italy, from July 28 to August 3, 2025, on the occasion of the Great Jubilee of 2025. The event was announced by Pope Francis during the closing Mass of World Youth Day 2023 in Lisbon.
Here’s the announcement of the Il Volo presence at the Jubilee.
“…..There will be the three young Italians from Il Volo, now known throughout the world.”
The Youth Jubilee is a wonderful event held as part of the Holy Year 2025. It is a large gathering of young people from around the world, united by faith, prayer, and the hope for a better world, a very significant moment in these dark times.
The event took place in Tor Vergata, on the outskirts of Rome.
Pope Leo XIV joined the young people by helicopter and celebrated a Mass for them.
Il Volo sang two beautiful songs during this event, one upon the Pope’s arrival and one at the close of the Mass.
Upon arrival, the Pope drove among the young people in the Popemobile, greeted with enthusiasm.
After the Popemobile ride, the Pope disembarked, was given a cross, and proceeded on foot, followed by many young people, toward the altar where Mass was celebrated.
During this journey, Il Volo and the entire Vatican choir and orchestra performed the beautiful Jubilee Hymn, “Pilgrims of Hope.”
Then the mass began, during which many strong messages were given to the young people.
“Seek the truth passionately. Build a more humane world. Friendship can be the path to peace.”
“Do not quench your thirst with ineffective substitutes. We are not made for a life where everything is predictable and fixed, but for an existence that is constantly regenerated through giving, through love.”
“Fragility is part of the wonder that we are.”
“As you return to your countries in the coming days, throughout the world, continue to walk joyfully in the footsteps of the Savior, and infect everyone you meet with your enthusiasm and the witness of your faith! Have a good journey!”
At the end of the mass, Il Volo sang the beautiful MAGNIFICAT in Latin with the entire choir.
The Pope thanked all them for the beautiful musical accompaniment, and then he told the young people to rest well and he expects them there the next day for Holy Mass.
The event is over, it was filled with emotion.
Now I’ll share with you some moments from the Magnificat, captured from another perspective.
But the meeting with the Pope was not just this evening because in the afternoon all the artists were received in St. Peter’s by Pope Leo.
The Pope to the artists: “For me it is a privilege, a blessing to be able to participate in this mission, in this service, as Bishop of Rome, as Holy Father, knowing above all the faith, enthusiasm, and joy we share and which gives voice to what we have in our hearts, and which is above all the desire to find happiness, joy, love; to experience faith also with the gifts the Lord has given us: music, dance, and the many artistic forms that you will share this afternoon with the young people.”
During the Pope’s journey in the popemobile towards the altar, television cameras roamed among the audience and even briefly captured Gianluca, Claudia and Torpedine, here they are!
And now I offer you the beautiful text of the Jubilee Hymn, sung at the beginning by Il Volo.
PILGRIMS OF HOPE(lyrics by Pierangelo Sequieri)
Living flame of my hope, may this song reach You! Eternal womb of infinite life, on my journey I trust in You.
Every language, people, and nation finds light in your Word. Fragile and scattered sons and daughters are welcomed in your beloved Son.
Living flame of my hope, may this song reach You! Eternal womb of infinite life, on the journey I trust in You.
God looks upon us, tender and patient: the dawn of a new future is born. New Heavens, a new Earth: pass through walls, Spirit of life.
Living flame of my hope, may this song reach You! Eternal womb of infinite life, on the journey I trust in You.
Lift up your eyes, move with the wind, shorten your pace: God comes, in time. Look at the Son who became Man: thousands and thousands find the way.
Living flame of my hope, let this song reach You! Eternal womb of infinite life, on my journey, I trust in You.
And for those who want to try singing the anthem in Italian, here’s a video with the music and lyrics.
Oh my, how exciting! I watched the entire event live and was deeply moved by the sight of such a multitude of young people from all over the world… I renewed my faith that the world can change; our future is in these young people, who are bearers of words of unity, peace, and hope!
Gianluca Piero and Ignazio were once again witnesses to this special event; their voices soared and added a special touch. The Jubilee hymn was wonderful and the very difficult Magnificat was rendered very well!
As I told you, there is no rest for our three guys, we left them in Bucharest and immediately after they ran home to Italy, to Turin for a beautiful performance, among many other singers, in Piazza Vittorio Emanuele, as part of the feast of San Giovanni.
The participation of the public was incredible, as you can see from the photo below.
It’s a really hot Italian summer and these events in the square attract a lot of people, especially a lot of young people, so I’m very happy when Il Volo joins in on this type of performance, moreover the event was performed live on June 24th, but Mediaset, in particular Canale 5 broadcast it on June 29th.
Here is the moment of Il Volo.
Il Volo sang three songs:
CAPOLAVORO GRANDE AMORE NESSUN DORMA
I start by attaching the two videos from Canale 5, I hope that most of you can see them because they are of excellent quality. The presenter of the evening is Gerry Scotti who introduced Il Volo with beautiful words that I propose to you immediately.
G.SCOTTI= The next ones are artists ambassadors of Italian music in the world.
They are much loved artists with crystalline talent. They are at home on Canale 5, also because they rarely see their real home because they are always around the world with their fantastic concerts, but tonight they are here with us, with you: Il Volo!
(At the end of Grande Amore Gerry Scotti enters the stage and sings with Il Volo. The audience singing with our guys is incredible)
G.SCOTTI= We are about to listen to a timeless masterpiece of Italian opera, and the reason why in introducing you I literally defined you “the youngest ambassadors of Italian music in the world”.
By now you have the success you deserve and the applause of this square is yet another demonstration because I followed your shows on television and you already knew it.
PIERO= Thanks Gerry.
G.SCOTTI= So, the three microphone stands are already positioned, everything is ready, please gentlemen (to the guys) I will make an official introduction: Ladies and gentlemen, it is the first time I make an introduction with this voice, from Turandot by Giacomo Puccini Il Volo sings NESSUN DORMA.
And for those who can’t watch the Canale 5 videos, here is the video of Capolavoro and Grande Amore and Nessun Dorma published by Il Volo en Clase, which we thank.
Towards the end of the evening, a young dancer, Francesco, also performed on stage, performing his dance to the music of WHO WANTS TO LIVE FOREVER sung by Il Volo, so that this song was also heard by the audience.
A series of beautiful photos.
The newspapers talked about the Turin event. I’ll translate for you what they wrote about Il Volo in the DILEI newspaper.
Il Volo, Nessun Dorma, thrilling. Rating 9 They have toured the world with their voices, but seeing them on an Italian stage always has a special charm. The guys from Il Volo arrive in perfectly coordinated black suits, sobriety and class in every detail. They sing with pathos, passion, impeccable technique. They thrill and warm the soul, so much so that Gerry Scotti can’t resist and goes up on stage to join them. But the highlight is Nessun Dorma: a textbook performance, powerful, vibrant, that makes more than one person in the square’s legs tremble. Il Volo confirms itself as the perfect bridge between opera and pop, and on an evening like this they know how to be the absolute protagonists without overdoing it.
But there is still more to see, because on June 26 Il Volo participates in an event on Lake Como, and precisely at Villa d’Este. Nothing has leaked about the evening, Villa d’Este published this press release the following day:
“What can we say about last night? The anniversary of our 150 seasons of emotions deserved to be celebrated with such style and joy! Many thanks to ALL our Guests (not only those who joined yesterday’s celebrations) and to our wonderful staff who made this fairy tale come true.”
(The photo attached to the press release was not taken during the evening but at the same event in which Il Volo participated a couple of years ago.)
Instead our guys sent us these photos taken in the beautiful gardens of Villa d’Este.
But the month of June is not over yet and so from Lake Como, off to Naples on June 28th, and exactly in the beautiful gulf of Sorrento, to the luxurious and exclusive Maya Beach Experience for a private event, of which I can offer you these video fragments.
So, I wanted to summarize separately all the events our guys attended but in family form and I would say to start with the wedding event of Piero’s brother, Francesco.
The wedding between Francesco and Rita took place on June 12th in Naro, here is a nice summary video.
At the beginning of the video the bride’s friend asks if Francesco will cry at the wedding and Piero responds like this:
PIERO= But Francesco doesn’t cry… (and we see the moment of the bride’s entrance into the church and Francesco who instead gets emotional)
RITA= But at least a tear, two…
PIERO= I’ve never seen him cry, I struggle to imagine him.
…….and instead Francesco gets emotional, indeed, because you know Piero, emotion plays bad tricks and you can’t control your heart….❤️
And here is Piero singing the Ave Maria and then signing the register as a witness to the marriage. 😍
Torpedine and the entire Ginoble family, including Claudia, were present at the wedding.
In the following video, there is the wait for the bride and groom to leave the church and you can clearly see Claudia turning and giving Gianluca a kiss.😍
As you may have understood, Ignazio and his family were not present at the wedding.
Piero and Gianluca singing MY WAY during the wedding party.
But even in the Boschetto household there was a reason to celebrate, in fact on June 15th Michelle turned 31, here she is while receiving a beautiful bouquet of red roses sent by Ignazio, I would say that Michelle is in great shape and her belly is now visible!!
I end the moment dedicated to Ignazio with these two short reviews dedicated to him.
In the first short video a vocal coach writes comments on Ignazio’s performance of Mia Martini’s song.
Ignazio Il Volo, Mia Martini sings, vocal coach Aldo Sabatini. “Ignazio Boschetto sings Mia Martini’s song E NON FINISCE MICA IL CIELO in an exemplary way, he manages to reach challenging notes with great confidence, projection and adding local distortions in line with the style of the song.
Sound projection and dynamics, top, top!
A challenging song that lingers several times on A4 and touches Bb4, he manages to get there in different ways, sometimes adding controlled vocal distortions and in line with the characteristic style of the song.
The confidence, projection and use of vibrato are synonymous with excellent vocal management and control.
Also from an interpretative point of view, in my opinion, he hits the song’s intention very well.”
In this second video, the same vocal coach analyses how Ignazio manages to reach certain notes, the song is THE SHOW MUST GO ON.
How did Ignazio Boschetto reach those notes in the original key on the Queen song?
“How did Ignazio reach the notes with that sound? Yesterday we saw the singer who performed on the TV show LIKE A STAR was unable to do this same passage.
It is absolutely not a comparison or a confrontation between the two, I take this episode to explain something that could be useful to singers.
The reasons why Ignazio can do those notes are:
1-Vocal texture, this does not mean that if you are a baritone you cannot do those notes, but reaching them with that sound is not easy.
2- Ignazio did not think of bringing the chest voice up there, but he used mechanism one with consonances of mechanism two, therefore a sort of mix belt.
3- That sound is the result of talent, musical intelligence, training and technique, because that sound requires a certain muscular athleticism, therefore that sound, on that note is not for everyone, but if you understand how to lighten, channel the sound and project it or in any case get there without lowering the tone you can succeed.”
Well, what can I say, he made some beautiful compliments on Ignazio’s skills, what do you think?
Now I dedicate myself to Gianluca.
After the wedding in Naro, Gianluca and Claudia took advantage of it, since they were in Sicily to go to Taormina where the Film Festival was taking place.
Of course. Gianluca and Claudia also enjoyed the beautiful atmosphere in Taormina.
Here is Gianluca with a local group of musicians.
And here Claudia and Gianluca at the inevitable Bambar.
I would say that the Gianluca Claudia couple is working really well and I’m happy for them.😍
In June there was also a nice interview with Ercole Ginoble who proudly talks about his son Gianluca, here it is.
Gianluca Ginoble, pride of father Ercole: My son is an ambassador of Abruzzo
Interviewed by Domenico Ranieri at the Centro party in Roseto degli Abruzzi, he talked about the strong bond between the tenor of “Il Volo” and his homeland
“We show off our merchandise.” With these ironic words Ercole Ginoble, father of the famous tenor Gianluca of the trio “Il Volo”, talks about the indissoluble bond between his son and his Roseto. Originally from the hamlet of Montepagano, where he still lives with his family, Gianluca Ginoble is promoting Abruzzo in every corner of the world through his singing talent. His father Ercole himself proudly underlined this during the interview given to the editor-in-chief of the Center, Domenico Ranieri: “Gianluca is very attached to Roseto and Abruzzo and, through his activity as a musician, he makes our beautiful territory known throughout the world,” he said.
A commitment that is also reflected in the many television appearances on national networks, where the tenor never misses an opportunity to reiterate his origins: “Piero and Ignazio, the other two members of Il Volo, are Sicilian, a region much better known, for various reasons, than ours,” added Ginoble, “this is also because Abruzzo is not sold well, it is not promoted as it deserves.”
It is for this very reason that Gianluca chose to be an ambassador for his region. His father Ercole then told an anecdote: during a dinner in a restaurant in New York, where director Woody Allen was also present, Gianluca, when asked where he came from, referred to Montepulciano wine: “I am originally from Abruzzo, the region where Montepulciano is produced,” a product much appreciated by Americans.
Gianluca’s talent, his father always said during the interview, emerged from an early age: “I noticed that he was particularly in tune around the age of three, he repeated cartoon songs. Growing up, it was Andrea Bocelli’s music that captivated him: in the car he wanted to listen to it continuously.” At eight years old Gianluca joined a small choir in Roseto and began performing in summer recitals on the seafront or in evenings at the municipal villa. The turning point came with his participation in the Rai Uno talent show hosted by Antonella Clerici. From there, an extraordinary career began which, despite his young age, already boasts collaborations with artists of the caliber of Barbara Streisand and Sting.
Back to Piero, because June 24th was his birthday, Piero turned 32.
BUON COMPLEANNO PIERO!!!🎊🎂🎉❤️
Piero you are a charming, serious, intelligent man, an artist of excellent qualities and a good son.
You are strong, we love you!! ❤️
It was a nice roundup of events related to Ignazio, Piero and Gianluca and their families.
I want to assure you that no privacy has been violated, because what I have reported to you has been published on countless fan pages and also highlighted by the newspapers.
And now I hope that they have a restful July, here in Italy it is really very hot and the three of them deserve to relax their body and mind, recharge their batteries and dedicate themselves to their families.
Daniela 🤗
Credit to owners of all photos and videos.
Come in and share the love of life, friends and Il Volo!
