TUTTI PER UNO CANALE 5 TERZA SERATA by Daniela

We have reached the last of the TUTTI PER UNO  concerts broadcast by Canale 5.
An evening that promises to be full of Italian guests who will surely make all the people sing, because they have songs full of beautiful memories of periods of Italian music.
Unfortunately recently there has been a lot of degradation of Italian music, rap and trap are supported with incomprehensible lyrics because they are sung with a half-closed mouth with a “potato in the mouth” effect, it is difficult to understand what they are singing and with booming and boring music.
But let’s get to our beautiful concert.
I always thank Il Volo En Clase who manages to publish the entire episode on you tube!!
The preview begins with a very nice gag, already done in the second concert, but with a different ending.
The person in charge of checking people backstage at the Arena checks the list of guest singers and says that Il Volo isn’t there so Gianluca shows him the photo on the badge and says that it’s really the three of them. The man says he doesn’t recognize them and then Ignazio Piero and Gianluca place themselves exactly in the position in the photo.
Now the attendant recognizes them! 😂😂😂

The evening begins with the beautiful WHO WANTS TO LIVE FOREVER by Queen. Piero, Ignazio and Gianluca enter the seating aisles among the people happily filming with their cell phones.
A really strong start and the song is over, just a quick hello to everyone and immediately Il Volo begins the beautiful IO CHE NON VIVO by Pino Donaggio and Ignazio asks people to sing with them.
Piero greets all the people and Ignazio thanks them for the support received during the other two evenings and asks for applause for the orchestra and maestro Rota.
Gianluca says that they have reached the last episode of this journey into music and will celebrate with many guests.
Piero tries to say the names of the guests but is silenced by Ignazio, but they immediately say that they can already announce the first guest, Max Pezzali enters, author of many beautiful and catchy songs that people recall by singing.
NESSUN RIMPIANTO sung with Piero
GLI ANNI sung with Ignazio
ECCOTI sung with Gianluca
Piero says that singing Max Pezzali’s songs is a dream come true (his songs were sung by all the kids in the early 2000s), and Max says that for a singer-songwriter to hear his songs sung by voices like theirs, that It’s truly a dream come true.
Ignazio says that they grew up with his songs. (Max Pezzali was the leader of 883).
All together they sing COME MAI. 🥰
Piero says they got off to a great start, but Gianluca says someone is missing, a female figure with the three E’s:
Elegance
Etoile
Eleonora Abbagnato.
(She is a classical dancer, now directs the ballet of the Rome Opera, she was an etoile of the Paris Opera. She is Sicilian.)
Eleonora enters with two dancers and they perform a piece from Bizet’s Carmen. 👏👏
Eleonora will join Il Volo in some moments of the evening.
After the ballet Eleonora thanks the people of the Arena. Ignazio tells her that it is an honor to have her as a co-host and they will help each other.
A beautiful series of duets by our boys on truly special songs begins.
Gianluca and Ignazio begin with the beautiful CINQUE GIORNI by Michele Zarrillo. 🥰
Gianluca says it’s a song they sang when they were little and Ignazio says the audience will definitely sing with them.
I saw our friend Janet Dong filmed waving her arms to the beat of the music!! 😘
Gianluca and Piero follow with the timeless and beautiful MY WAY. 😍😍
And now a beautiful and classic duet between Ignazio and Piero: LA DONNA È MOBILE by Giuseppe Verdi.
Ignazio and Piero are too nice! 🥰🥰
But it doesn’t end here, after these beautiful three duets, they all come back together for the beautiful CARUSO by Dalla.🤩🤩🤩
A solo by Piero, I remind you that this concert was held on May 13th and in Italy it was Mother’s Day, therefore Piero dedicates this song to all mothers, in particular to his mother.
MAMMA song by Bixio. ❤️
While Piero sings, a group of little dancers perform the song. They are the children of the Rome Opera of which Eleonora Abbagnato is director who returns to the stage greeting her little pupils among whom there is also her daughter Julia. 🥰
Julia calls her mother and Eleonora arrives and they hug. Piero says how important parental support is for a child, then he asks Julia about a flaw in her mother and she says that she is a neat freak. 😂😍
The concert continues with a rock touch, an unexpected duet between Ignazio and Nek who you know well, they perform on SENZA PIETÀ brought to fame by Anna Oxa. 🤩🤩
It’s time for a solo by Gianluca, this song deeply touches my heart and Gianluca sings it splendidly.❤️
LA CURA by Battiato
Eleonora Abbagnato returns to the scene.
She proposes a nice game. Words flow on the scene and each of the guys must identify a word that corresponds to their character. Now Eleonora tells Piero to choose a word and he chooses PUNCTUALITY, he loves punctuality. Someone in the audience shouts “well done” and Ignazio immediately protests.
Eleonora asks for an example and suggests a concert, the evening is starting and where is he?
Piero replies that three hours before the concert he is already present and has already eaten his pasta (it is a ritual he always does before concerts of eating a plate of pasta). 🥰
Eleonora says that now there are 15 minutes left until the start and where is he?
Piero replies that he has already finished vocalizing, he hasn’t put on his jacket yet, he has already put on his in-ears… and Ignazio isn’t there. 😂😂
Eleonora says there are 5 minutes to go and Piero replies that he is putting on his jacket, he hears the hairdryer on in Gianluca’s dressing room next door and knows that he is getting ready, but Ignazio is not there. 😂😂
Eleonora asks Ignazio if it is true and he hesitates….Piero asks him if he wants to deny what is happening…..😁🤪
Eleonora confirms that she is like Piero, methodical in her commitments before the events and leaves the scene.
Piero goes back to the fact that Ignazio is never there and not to deny him, but Gianluca comes to Ignazio’s defense saying that he could sing even in his pajamas…..the people confirm and Ignazio asks Piero to let him have this moment of congratulations and applause. 😂😂😂👏👏👏
It’s time for a great guest, maestro Riccardo Cocciante, much loved in Italy for his songs but also in France and Europe, he wrote all the songs of the musical Notre Dame de Paris, wonderful songs of which he immediately proposes tonight duet with Piero IL TEMPO DELLE CATTEDRALI.😍😍
At the end Piero compliments and thanks Cocciante for the honor of being with them and then Ignazio asks him to sing one of his most famous songs written 50 years ago: BELLA SENZ’ANIMA.🤩
Cocciante is 78 years old and is much loved by the Italian public.
The concert continues with Il Volo performing the beautiful LONTANO DAGLI OCCHI by Sergio Endrigo. 🥰🥰🥰
Ignazio presents a very strange duet, and indeed it is, Piero wanted to duet with Big Mama, a singer-rapper who had success during the last Sanremo. She had a difficult life, bullied, marginalized, but she made her way with strength.
Piero and Big Mama propose NON PENSARE A ME, a beautiful workhorse song by Claudio Villa. 🤩🤩
Honestly Big Mama has a type of singing (rapper) that isn’t for me, but I really appreciated the duet to combine two such different types of music.
We return to the game to understand the personalities of Piero, Gianluca and Ignazio. Our boys call their “star” (Eleonora) onto the stage, dedicating a short song to her. It is Gianluca who has to choose a word and Ignazio is happy that it’s not his turn!
Gianluca chooses FRIENDSHIP.
Gianluca says that he chooses friendship because it is a feeling as important as love. Without friendship perhaps life has no meaning and Gianluca says he has few but good friends who he cares about. 🥰 Then he says that there are different types of friendship, that of adolescents of fun, of need and that of the heart.
Eleonora asks for an example for the friendship of need, she says that Gianluca is in the middle of the countryside and has a flat tire on the car and so she asks him who is calling.
Gianluca replies that he would call both of them, Ignazio and Piero.
Piero replies that he can call his friends from his town and not just the two of them! 😂 Gianluca says that the two of them are his friends anyway.
Piero replies that they certainly don’t walk with a jack in their hands and Ignazio tells him that he could call a mechanic or make a friend who is a tire dealer. 😂 Then between the two of them Gianluca chooses Piero.😉
Eleonora asks who she would call as a friend for fun and Gianluca replies “obviously Ignazio”! 😂
Piero immediately protests by saying that he has organized the best parties in recent years and Gianluca replies that they are well organised, but without Ignazio the parties are a disaster.😂
Eleonora asks who her best friend is. Both Piero and Gianluca are sure of the choice, but Gianluca says it is his brother Ernesto. ❤️ “You don’t choose brothers but when you find them they are perfect and they are the best friends.” 🥰😘
Eleonora confirms that she too calls her brothers when she needs it and therefore underlines the importance of family.
What I have attached is the video of the embrace between brothers that took place on the second evening while Il Volo was performing a song, which I had told you about. ❤️❤️
Gianluca remained on stage for the next duet.
Together with the beautiful and talented Rose Villain they perform YOUNG AND BEAUTIFUL, the beautiful song by Lana Del Ray. 😍😍
In the end Gianluca and Rose remember the Sanremo period, she too was in the competition and on the evening that the singers had to present other singers, Rose had presented Il Volo.🥰
Ignazio talks about feelings and how good he feels on stage, he talks about an artist who felt the stage wherever he was: Lucio Dalla. A duet begins, but this time it is virtual between Ignazio and Dalla on his beautiful song LA SERA DEI MIRACOLI. 🤩🤩
And we continue with a very touching moment, the beautiful HALLELUJAH by Cohen, masterfully performed by Il Volo. ❤️❤️❤️
From the royal box, comedian Enrico Brignano reads a beautiful presentation:
“Friends, friends, friends, Verona is the city of lovers, the most magical place in the world to celebrate love.
In the Arena then, one can only celebrate it with music.
But how many songs have the word AMORE (LOVE) in the title….
LA STAGIONE DELL’AMORE (The season of love) of maestro Battiato”
QUESTO PICCOLO GRANDE AMORE (This little great love) of Claudio Baglioni”
AMORE DISPERATO (Desperate Love) of Nada”
THAT’S AMORE by Dean Martin”
and I could fill pages and pages with other titles, and if I put them all together, a huge, giant, unique book would come out and it would be titled: GRANDE AMORE 😍😍😍
Piero presents Enrico Brignano on stage, a good comedian, naturally I hope to be able to make you understand his jokes.
He enters greeting everyone and then the strictly female choir, but they point out to him that there is also the male one. Say hello to the people of the Arena who call “Arenati”  (stranded). 😂
Then Brignano greets Piero by name, greets Gianluca by name and then pretends not to remember the third name (Ignazio)…..😳
BRIGNANO= Hello, boy, wait, don’t help me…..hi Piero, hi Gianluca and hi Iginio…..Ilario…the third of Il Volo!!! 😂😂😂 What do they call you, a little help…
IGNAZIO= Ignazio!
BRIGNANO= Ignazio!! I had it here on the tip of my tongue…😂
IGNAZIO= Yes, I saw it…😂
BRIGNANO = (to the audience) Because they are a bit like the 7 dwarfs, you always forget the name of the last one.😂
And then guys I have always followed you since before you took flight (Volo) since you were at check in, 😂😂😂 and I’m here with great pleasure because I would like to talk about opera, I submitted it as a thesis to university (it’s not true), I went to school, compulsory school, because I’m I was obliged, otherwise I wouldn’t have done them, I’m telling the truth. 😂
However, what better place than this to talk about opera, the greatest have performed here….(Piero, Ignazio and Gianluca go out and leave the stage in Brignano)
You’re already tired, don’t move away, stay close, see you later.
You are Maestro Rota, what an honour, maestro, greetings to all of your relatives, even neighbors. 😁
I was saying that all the greatest performed here, with the most beautiful arias, here they did certain arias…..😳😂
But the opera is not only made up of arias, it is also made up of recitatives, that is, moments of story, and therefore the words are many and the music is shorter.
You maestro (Rota) knows, the recitative is long and the music is a little supportive, two, three instruments and the lyricists or librettists, make the performers say things like this:
“Boom boom.
Who is?
It’s me ha ha ha!!”
Such a random laugh, which has nothing to do with it, just to lighten things up. 😁
The recitative serves the story, but the audience, even the melomaniac, who are the melomaniac, is not an illness, sometimes one says: “Madonna, I’ve had a bad liver for two days, the doctor said I have a melomaniac.” (in Italy MELOMANE = melomaniac, it is often confused with the name of an illness) 😁😁
The melomaniac is passionate, fierce. Sometimes the arias are beautiful, but the recitative is disappointing… (Brignano sings)
“I don’t want to disturb you.
But come in.
No, I couldn’t, no.
Come on in, I told you to come in.
Yes, I’ll come in!”
So the spectator (Brignano pretends to collapse bored on the spectator’s seat),😂 for heaven’s sake, the spectator enters standing like this (nicely upright) but after a while (Brignano makes the gesture which is eloquent….) 😂😂, then he finds an accommodation, perhaps he asks a woman: “Excuse me, but I have to put them somewhere.” 😂😂
But with all the love in the world.
But despite everything, opera (it’s like saying that opera is heavy) is our flagship. We in Italy are known for many things, the usual things: spaghetti, the bridge over the strait (the bridge over the Strait of Messina which is talked about a lot but is never built, it’s now a joke) 😂😂 and the opera that was born accidentally.
It’s true, opera didn’t exist, it hadn’t been invented yet.
In the sixteenth century, in Florence, the comrade of the Bardi (Florentine nobles) thought of inventing something to party with, play cards? No idea, said one: “Let’s revive the Greek tragedies. Yes!” 😳
And so they invented something mixed between words and music, except that of the Greek tragedy, so noble, the music was not left, only the Greek tragedy remained, in fact the protagonists all died.
I’m talking about the titles:
TRAVIATA
MADAMA BUTTERFLY
TOSCA
the plot is always the same, let’s take La Boheme which for an example is easier.
Rodolfo and Mimì fall in love, they don’t have a lira and then in the third act she dies of consumption, because consumption is the official disease of opera, yes there are bronchitis, things like that, but consumption is better. Yes, someone stabs themselves, does harakiri like Madama Butterfly, someone throws themselves off Castel Sant’Angelo like Tosca, but consumption at the opera is their death. 😳😁😳😁
Rodolfo, unemployed, penniless, a bohemian, handsome in the flesh (tenors are often pot-bellied) is always represented even hungry, after her death, he despairs, with an empty stomach.
Now how long did it take me to tell you about this plot? Two minutes?
In the original La Boheme it takes four acts and three and a half hours (again an eloquent gesture). 😂😂😂
I think that to bring new generations closer to opera we need to streamline the plots a bit.
So guys (Ignazio, Piero and Gianluca), give me a hand, let’s try to do a quick work, I need you who are so young, so fresh, eager to approach even young people of your age, give me a hand for this work, give me some manpower. 😂😂😂
I put myself here in this position, I do the recitatives and you do the arias, you put in the arias that you know and that perhaps seem more right to you, repertoire arias, arias already done by others, okay?
I need a lover between you three, who wants to be a lover? Rodolfo who does it?
PIERO= I am the sweetheart of the group.
BRIGNANO= I would need the sweetheart Mimì, which of you two wants to do it?
IGNAZIO= Me, Mimì with the goatee. 😂
BRIGNANO= Ok, Mimì makes it, a beautiful Mimì, “always liked mustachioed woman”, perfect, it’s fine. 😂
I have one role left: Alfredo, a friend, okay? (to Gianluca)
I repeat: Rodolfo (Piero), Alfredo (Gianluca) Mimì (Ignazio).
Let’s go. Music, let’s do it with our mouths, perfect.
It’s a night in May in Verona, Rodolfo and Alfredo go out and go “in tow” (a way of saying that they go looking for female company).
It’s late at night and the city is going to bed, but they aren’t!
GIANLUCA= (he sings) NESSUN DORMA
A timid applause starts and Brignano turns and says to the audience: “If you have to do it like this (the applause), save it for later.” 😂😂
Spontaneity is the first thing. 😂😂
So, walk walk, because in opera you always walk, Alfredo and Rodolfo arrive at a club, they see Mimì all shy, very shy. She is alone and the two offer her a drink…..what opera would you put on?
PIERO= (he sings) LIBIAM DE LIETI CALICI
BRIGNANO= Perfect!
Setting the opera in our times, to uninhibit himself, to loosen up, Rodolfo has a piece of cannabis in his pocket that a friend gave him….
GIANLUCA = That’s me.
BRIGNANO= Mimì notices them from afar and therefore….
IGNAZIO= (he sings) MADAMA BUTTERFLY, the song says:
“One fine day we will see a wisp of smoke…..”
BRIGNANO= A fine wisp of smoke (referring to cannabis). 😂
You are truly great Mimì. 😂
Taking advantage of the situation, Rodolfo takes courage and goes to Mimì and tries to win her over…
PIERO= (he sings) VINCERÒ VINCERÒ (I will win)!!
BRIGNANO= What do you want to tell him… despite Rodolfo’s ardor, Mimì isn’t up for it.
IGNAZIO= (he sings) CASTA DIVA
BRIGNANO= Rodolfo, it didn’t go well for you. Mimì leaves, Rodolfo is defeated without a woman. Alfredo, the friend is disappointed, he has finished smoking, the two look at each other, hold hands because in friendship it happens….
GIANLUCA= Should I do it? 😁
BRIGNANO= And what do we sing in these times? 😳😳
PIERO= (he sings) AMAMI ALFREDO (Love me Alfredo)!!! 😂😂🤪
BRIGNANO= And they all lived happily ever after!! 👏👏👏👏
(I hope I have conveyed the moments well, it is not easy to translate a comic part.)
Thanks, thanks guys, Ignaziuccio bye, have a good life.
(Kisses and hugs between Brignano and the guys.)
After the comic break, the concert continues with a beautiful solo by Piero: CORE NGRATO by Cordiferro. 🥰
Eleonora Abbagnato returns for the final part of the game.
This time Ignazio chooses the word and his choice is ROCK.
ELEONORA= Why did you choose ROCK?
IGNAZIO= Because rock is a lifestyle, no….
ELEONORA= Explain well what you mean.
IGNAZIO= Rock means stone, rock, in life, however, I had to learn to be a rock, like many people I think.
ELEONORA= It’s true, the word rock is not only in music, it’s actually in life, how to deal with problems.
IGNAZIO= Absolutely, let’s say that my life has been a bit tough, and what about you?
ELEONORA= I was a rock at the age of 11 when I had to leave mum and dad in Sicily (she was admitted to the Paris Opera) and I was alone and at the time there were no cell phones, we used letters.
Now let’s see if you have a song where your rock soul comes out.
IGNAZIO= I have it…..but shall I sing it now??
ELEONORA= Of course!! Ladies and Gentlemen: Ignazio.
Ignazio goes wild singing IL MARE IMPETUOSO AL TRAMONTO by Zucchero on a poem by Ciampi. 🤩
Followed by a very beautiful and sweet Gianluca in VEDRAI VEDRAI by Tenco (Tenco is a great singer-songwriter who committed suicide on one of the Sanremo evenings on 01/27/67). 😍
The tribute to Tenco continues with another good guest, the singer Nina Zilli who performs with Il Volo: MI SONO INNAMORATA DI TE. 😍
Followed by the beautiful CIAO AMORE also by Tenco. 😍
This is a beautiful tribute to Tenco who passed away at the young age of 29. 🙏
Il Volo continues the concert with the beautiful NESSUN DORMA from Tosca. 🤩🤩🤩
A nice standing ovation for them.
Taken from their latest album Ad Astra, the beautiful CAPOLAVORO. 🥰🥰🥰
And now a very good Ignazio gives his all in a difficult Queen song: SHOW MUST GO ON. 😍
Piero continues with a tribute to Puccini, under a beautiful starry sky, inside the Arena of Verona, the beautiful E LUCEVAN LE STELLE from Tosca. 😍
Gianluca finishes the trio of solos with a crackling ROCKET MAN by Elton John. 😍
Eleonora Abbagnato returns and says that she always listens to their last CD Ad Astra and asks them to sing her a song.
Eleonora greets the public in the room and from home and takes her leave.
To end on a high note, Il Volo performs the beautiful OPERA. 🤩🤩🤩
The concert is over, the final confetti starts to the tune of AD ASTRA and the guys say goodbye to everyone, thank them and wish them goodnight.
But there is still a little surprise, one last song after the concert. Accompanied by maestro Riccardo Cocciante Il Volo sings the beautiful song BELLA, taken from Notre Dame De Paris by Cocciante. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
What can I tell you?
It was a success from every point of view.
The home audience was once again top rated.
Canale 5, proud of the result, published this press release which I translate for you:

Record ratings for the last appointment with “Il Volo Tutti per Uno”, absolute leader of the evening with 3 million viewers and over 20% share.

The show which featured the trio formed by: Piero Barone, Gianluca Ginoble and Ignazio Boschetto on the stage of the Verona Arena as protagonists together with many extraordinary guests from the world of music and entertainment.

Huge applause and positive comments everywhere from people who greatly appreciated Il Volo, even those who didn’t know it or didn’t follow it.
Even the newspapers published positive articles singing the praises of the three boys.
An article today was titled:
“Il Volo: silent critics and snobs…..” as if to say that it silenced the malicious comments of the usual critics and snobs who didn’t appreciate them, and how it silenced them, with the demonstration of what they can do, sing very well, knowing how to host a program, welcoming and accommodating every type of guest and different types of music, being polite, well dressed, never over the top, in short, the best!! 🤩🤩🤩
And at the end of the television filming, a beautiful explosion of joy and well-deserved toasts.🎉🎉🍾🍾✨
Thank you guys, thank you Il Volo!!!  ❤️❤️❤️

TUTTI PER UNO: CANALE 5 SECONDA SERATA by Daniela

And here we are at the second TUTTI PER UNO concert broadcast by Canale 5.
Almost the entire concert corresponds to the concert that I myself saw live in the Arena on May 11th.
What a thrill, seeing those moments again, the beautiful atmosphere and wonderful songs and then them…… the three of them: Gianluca, Ignazio and Piero, our three super artists so loved by the public. 😍😍😍
But let’s go straight to the television concert, where I will translate the speeches for you and so you will understand each situation better.
I thank Il Volo En Clase who once again reproduced the entire concert so that it is visible on YouTube  😘 (for us in Italy it is not visible)
The preview begins with Gianluca, Piero and Ignazio walking under the stands of the Arena to reach the stage and are stopped by a control officer who looks at the list and reads all the names of the various guest singers who will perform, but their three names are not there. Ignazio tells him to check if Il Volo is there and the man confirms that Il Volo is at the top of all the names and Piero confirms: “We are here for TUTTI PER UNO”.🤩
The concert begins.
The Arena seen from above is wonderful, full of people waiting for the three of them to start singing UN AMORE COSÌ GRANDE. (In reality that evening the concert began with the music of Il Gladiatore.) 😉

After Piero’s greetings to the public and viewers at home, Ignazio explains the meaning of TUTTI PER UNO and wishes you a good evening.
Gianluca wants to reveal the names of the guests but Ignazio and Piero tell him not to spoil, but Gianluca immediately introduces the first guest, the rock singer Gianna Nannini.
Gianna truly loves our boys and has always admired them from the beginning.
A medley of Gianna Nannini’s beautiful songs begins:
MERAVIGLIOSA CREATURA, sings with Piero
SEI NELL’ANIMA, sings with Ignazio
BELLO E IMPOSSIBILE, sings with Gianluca
The effect of the lights in the Arena and the people were fantastic, what a wonderful choir of voices, these songs are very well known here in Italy and I assure you that all the people in the Arena who knew them, sang at the top of their lungs, including me, magnificent and engaging! 🤩
PIERO= Gianna, music has no boundaries, apparently distant styles but which manage to come together.
GIANNA= Melody has no boundaries!
PIERO= You are unique, you are unique.
GIANLUCA= Last year you came to visit us and it was exciting, but coming back here…
GIANNA= You and I didn’t sing together last year.
GIANLUCA= You sang with Piero.
IGNAZIO= I didn’t sing with you either.
GIANLUCA= This year, however, we all wanted to sing with you and being here with you is always exciting.
GIANNA= I always enjoy singing with you, because you bring true Italian music to the world, (addressing the audience) this is the music, this is the music.
PIERO= You know Gianna, this is a magical night for us…..(way to introduce the next song they sing together, Gianna, Il Volo and the whole Arena) UN’ESTATE ITALIANA (Notti Magiche) song by Gianna Nannini written for the football world cup held in Italy in 1990. 🥰 ⚽
The boys present Federica Panicucci, the face of Canale 5 who already presented last year. Federica after the greetings and pleasantries says that she finds the boys well after a year but something has changed because she announces that Ignazio is getting married to Michelle and confirms that Michelle is a beautiful girl and that she was Miss Venezuela. 🥰
The solos begin.
Ignazio sings the beautiful ALMENO TU NELL’UNIVERSO. 🥰
Piero continues with the beautiful MATTINATA by Leoncavallo.
In the end Ignazio says that he was used to singing Mattinata in duet with Piero and now Piero sang it alone and behind the stage he thought “what a Caino” 🤪 (like saying what a traitor), but he liked it and in the end Ignazio says to Piero is proud of him who has been studying day by day for more than a year and the results can be felt.❤️
Gianluca comments “Che patatone (as if to say that Ignazio is very sweet). I’m happy for you too.” (turning to Piero) ❤️❤️
Piero instead compliments Gianluca’s beautiful shiny jacket. 🤩
Gianluca continues with THE POWER OF LOVE song by Frankie Goes to Hollywood, wonderful, I always listened to it. 😍
Ignazio says that now there is a song that they haven’t sung for many years, words full of meaning for: LA VITA. 🤩
Federica Panicucci entertains Il Volo and the public by taking a “journey into music”.
She shows the boys a “cassette recorder, or cassette player” and asks if they know about it.
Gianluca asks if it’s a toaster. 😂
Piero says he knows it because his grandfather used a similar one. 😘
Federcia remembers that the ribbons were always twisted and fingers or pencils were used to unravel them. 🙄😁
Then Federica shows an old cassette with a song by Umberto Tozzi from 1978.
Umberto Tozzi enters and everyone sings  the song TU.
At the end Ignazio congratulates Tozzi for his results and for 50 years of career and makes the audience sing the refrains of some very famous Tozzi songs: Ti Amo and Gloria.
Piero presents a young and talented soprano Nina Solodovnikova, together they will duet in LIBIAM DE’ LIETI CALICI.  🥂
Gianluca continues with the beautiful ELEANOR RIGBY of the Beatles.
At the beginning Gianluca explains the words of the song and says that Paul McCartney had invented those names in the song but a few years later visiting a cemetery he actually found a gravestone with the name Eleanor Rigby and a little further away one with the name Father McKenzie, just a coincidence ? 🙏
The beautiful CAPOLAVORO follows, (in reality that evening it was sung immediately after Il Gladiatore).
When the chorus starts and Gianluca is on the left of the stage, he is exactly in front of the seats where we were sitting and I must tell you that it was clear that he was very excited, hearing all the people singing the chorus he was overwhelmed with emotion and didn’t hold back a few tears, what a sweet and extraordinary boy. 😍❤️
Ignazio launches the advertisement and then resumes with L’IMMENSITÀ. 🥰
Federica Panicucci returns to the stage and this time offers the guys the CD player.
Gianluca says he used it often, put on headphones and listened to music.
The whole skit introduces a Negramaro song, as their front-man Giuliano Sangiorgi is the next guest and enters to sing SOLO PER TE in duet with Piero.
Personally, I don’t really like Sangiorgi’s type of singing, but the song is very beautiful and I really liked the unexpected duet. Even Sangiorgi, in the end, admits that he has never heard his song sung in an opera version and he really liked it. 🤩
Ignazio and Gianluca also return and Ignazio asks the Arena to sing choruses of famous Negramaro songs such as:
Usami, straziami
Stringimi Ancora
Estate
Then Piero presents the new song which will be sung in duet by Umberto Tozzi and Giuliano Sangiorgi: DONNA AMANTE MIA.
Now there is a moment full of feeling, Ignazio reads a letter he wrote and which he dedicates to his father. ❤️🙏
IGNAZIO= You know, there comes a point in life, especially for a guy like me, that you can only talk about some things when you reach a certain emotional maturity and today I feel like doing something, reading you a letter, a letter that I wrote and I wanted to read it to you. ❤️
“Life has taught us the difference between lack and absence. There is a thread so subtle that those who don’t experience it first-hand cannot understand it.
I often want to pick up the phone and call you:
-I found traffic on the highway….
-You know I managed to fix that locker in the room, the one that was broken….
-Today the weather sucks….
-You know, I’m getting married…..
But I can’t, you’re not there, you’re not there physically, I live on memories, I live on sensations.
Precisely for this reason I don’t want to tell you that I miss you, because the memories keep you alive, they keep you alive and you are still in my mind, in my heart, so I want to tell you that I absente you (you are absent and I take note of it).
I absente you because I am madly missing you, and I will stay in front of the school waiting for you dad…..with my pockets full of rocks and my heart full of you!”
Much emotion for Ignazio.😍
Enter Enrico Nigiotti, with whom Ignazio will do a duet singing a song by JovanottI, with very sweet words: LE TASCHE PIENE DI SASSI. ❤️🙏
At the end of the song Ignazio affectionately embraces Enrico Nigiotti and tells him that there was a great feeling with him right away and thanks him.
This is followed by a beautiful embrace full of affection between Ignazio, Piero and Gianluca. ❤️❤️❤️
All together now for the beautiful song by De Crescenzo: ANCORA.
This time Panicucci arrives with a juke box and all three remember this well, in fact Ignazio says that at the beginning when they were in Los Angeles they went to have breakfast in a place called MEL’S and there was this juke box which for them it was a vintage thing, in fact he calls it “boxed Spotify”, so they ask maestro Rota for a coin who kindly takes the joke and says goodbye to the Arena.
Federica enters and explains how the juke box works with the token, and this is why it was called “la canzone più gettonata” (the song that had the most hits) and in 1964 the most popular single was NEL BLU DIPINTO DI BLU by Modugno. 🤩🤩🤩
At this point, from the royal box the actor Beppe Fiorello reads a passage dedicated to the sad story of Sacco and Vanzetti, the two Italians unjustly condemned to death. Since then their names have become the symbol of judicial errors and intolerance. Thanks to the film, their story became known everywhere and Morricone took care of the soundtrack.
HERE’S TO YOU begins and Gianluca, Piero and Ignazio singing in the audience.
Very sweet Piero and Gianluca who reach out and hug their mothers. ❤️❤️❤️
Beppe Fiorello joins Il Volo on stage. He is an actor (he is the brother of the Fiorello we already know) and being an actor, together with Il Volo, play a game that is inspired by various cinemas, because Beppe Fiorello says that, “cinema crystallizes things in history” and so do the “famous phrases” of cinema and being in a place like the Arena the first sentence that Beppe Fiorello utters….
B.FIORELLO= At my signal unleash hell. (phrase from Il Gladiatore)
Houston Houston, we have a problem. (phrase from Apollo 13)…..Ignazio pronounces it in Sicilian
Wax on, wax off. (Karate Kid quote)
I’ve seen things you humans can’t imagine. (Blade Runner quote)
My name is Bond, James Bond. (Phrase from 007)
Ignazio, Piero and Gianluca perform the phrase with their name, truly hilarious!!😂😂😂
Last sentence, B.Fiorello says that when Piero called him he asked him if he was taking part in their evening and B.Fiorello replied that he had to see the commitments already made and Piero replied: “I’ll make you an offer you can’t refuse.” (said in Sicilian dialect, it’s a phrase from The Godfather).

B.Fiorello quickly says some famous phrases:
“You’re just talk and a badge.” (The Untouchables)
“Are you talking to me? Are you talking to me?” (Taxi Driver)
“Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you’re going to get.” (Forrest Gump).
B.Fiorello concludes by saying that:
“The words of cinema come out of the screen and enter us, making us protagonists of the greatest film of humanity, our life.”🤩
Great B. Fiorello, actor and director, and when he comes out they all sing PIOVE together.  🥰
We continue with the next guest Irama, with whom Il Volo performs SATURNO E VENERE taken from their latest album Ad Astra. Beautiful song born from a beautiful collaboration and great friendship with Irama! 😍😍😍😍
And finally here is the beautiful song from Il Gladiatore, the music is powerful, the scenes are fantastic, the choir and orchestra are magnificent and Gianluca, Piero and Ignazio are immense!!! NELLE TUE MANI (NOW WE ARE FREE) ❤️❤️❤️
Gianluca presents the next singer who will duet with him.
She sings, plays, is also an actress, she was also in Sanremo: Clara.
Together they sing SAY SOMETHING. 😍😍
And now Piero pays homage to Puccini and sings an aria from Turandot: NON PIANGERE LIÙ.
Piero is accompanied by five opera singers who he will eventually present. A beautiful operatic moment arises and at the end there is a beautiful standing ovation.👏👏👏
Ignazio performs a solo on Adamo’s beautiful album, a song that my brothers always played when I was little: LA NOTTE. 😍
Gianna Nannini follows from the royal box with a solo: IO VOGLIO TE.
We resume with two artists who we met in Sanremo, and have become friends, Alessandro and Mario: I Santi Francesi. Together with Gianluca they sing WICKED GAME by Chris Isaac. 🤩
In the end Gianluca says that he found in them some nice people with whom he shared the same passion for music and they became friends.
The beauty of this concert is that in an instant you go from a pop song to a classical song, always beautiful music!!
Piero in a solo in Spanish: TORERO QUIERO SER.
But there is also soul and Ignazio remembers to let us listen to it: HIGHER GROUND by Stevie Wonder.
The always touching NESSUN DORMA follows, all together.
Federica Panicucci returns for the final greetings and congratulates the boys and talks about the hard work to achieve great results and great successes, just like them.  She elegantly announces FRAMMENTI DI UNIVERSO and greets everyone. 🥰
On the beautiful notes of Ad Astra, the final greetings of Ignazio, Piero and Gianluca begin.
A great show!! 🤩🤩🤩❤️❤️❤️
As you know, I was present at this concert and I’ll tell you three moments that were not filmed by Canale 5 cameras.
As I have already told you, my husband and I were sitting on the far left looking at the stage and there on the first steps there were Torpedine, Barbara, Ercole, Ernesto, Michelle and other people from the staff or family, so I could see these three very well – sweet moments.
At a certain point, Gianluca, during a song, ran up the steps to hug his brother: adorable. 😍😍
Instead Ignazio took advantage of his moment of pause while Gianluca and Piero were singing solos and joined Michelle, what love. ❤️❤️
Piero then, once Mimì’s romance was over, ran to hug his singing teacher Fulvio Massa.
And these are the moments that make us understand the sensitivity, the affection, the respect that Gianluca, Ignazio and Piero have towards people. Simply adorable. ❤️❤️❤️
This time too, the concert had maximum television ratings. 🎉🎉
Many articles now, after the second concert, talk about the success of the audience and how much people love Il Volo.
Il Volo published this thank you with these words that I translate:
Thank you for the warmth and affection you showed us also in the second episode of Tutti Per Uno.
See you next week for the third episode.

Click Here – to view the concert recap

And that’s all for this second date too, see you soon with the third concert.
Daniela 🤗
This time I want to offer you a nice roundup of photos during the rehearsals and in the backstage, enjoy!

TUTTI PER UNO: CANALE 5 PRIMA SERATA by Daniela

And here I am to offer you the first of the three television evenings of Canale 5 which broadcasts the three Il Volo concerts.
It was a lot of work for everyone, but it was worth it, three fantastic evenings designed for Italian television which will feature many beautiful songs by Italian singer-songwriters sung by our talented Piero, Gianluca and Ignazio.
Once again Il Volo demonstrated that it was able to offer different musical styles and guests with whom it duetted without problems.
In addition to the beautiful scenes projected on the screens, you will certainly notice the play of light created by the audience.
Upon entering the Arena, each spectator was given a beautiful luminous bracelet which then had to be returned at the end, a truly wonderful idea!!
I honestly understand that the program was more suitable for an Italian audience, but I will try to make you understand clearly what they wanted to demonstrate.
Naturally certain moments were edited for different evenings, but this was done to make everything more homogeneous and does not affect the final result.

The first TV evening begins with Claudio Baglioni (Italian singer) who enters the scene and sits at the piano, almost immediately he is joined by Ignazio who tells him that they should start by singing MILLE GIORNI DI ME DI TE (Baglioni’s song) and he performs it, then Gianluca arrives and says that it is better to start with AVRAI (Baglioni’s song) and performs it, and Piero arrives who instead wants to start by singing PICCOLO GRANDE AMORE (Baglioni’s song) and sings it, but in the end Baglioni says that he decides what with they will open the evening and he decides for STRADA FACENDO (Baglioni’s song) and all four sing it together.
Immediately afterwards Ignazio Piero and Gianluca greet the Arena audience and sing the beautiful CAPOLAVORO. 😍
This year Il Volo has decided to pay homage to Italian singer-songwriters by performing several of their songs and Ignazio begins with: TI SENTO song by Matia Bazar. 🥰
Gianluca immediately continues with the beautiful ROCKET MAN by Elton John. 🥰
And finally, Piero sings the MISERERE which this year he did in duet with Giorgia, a very good Italian singer.
At the end of the song, Piero says: “Giorgia, we just sang a song by Zucchero and Zucchero sang it with Pavarotti. Then Pavarotti with Bocelli, you sang with Bocelli and now I sing with you, all this to thank and pay homage to the man who acted as a glue to all these names, our manager Michele Torpedine.” (Torpedine is framed, Ernie is also seen behind him).
GIORGIA= Mythical Michele.
Then Giorgia thanks Piero for the beautiful evening, but Ignazio tells her that there are also him and Gianluca, 😂😂 then the guys will convince Giorgia to stay and so she will also act as co-host during the evening. 🥰

Il Volo sings SE TELEFONANDO.
Now it’s time for a duet, Gianluca presents the song IL CIELO IN UNA STANZA, a beautiful song by Gino Paoli that Gianluca will sing together with Alessandra Amoroso.  Beautiful duet. 😍😍
Alessandra also celebrates 15 years of career and therefore, all together sing a song by Alessandra Amoroso: STUPENDO FINO QUI.
This is followed by a duet by Piero who tells how this song was born, from a news that a circus was in difficulty because the cannon woman had left. The author combined music with this news and the song was born. The author is Francesco De Gregori who enters and sings a duet with Piero. This song has never been performed with the classical imprint that Piero gives it and it is very beautiful, LA DONNA CANNONE. (this duet was done the night I was at the concert) 🥰
Piero finally admits that he was moved. ❤️
Ignazio calls Giorgia, and instead…. Giorgio Panariello (Italian comedian) enters.
In the gag, Giorgio apologizes and Giorgia is called back. She comes in and says she thought she’ll ask questions “on the fly” and they’ll have to answer quickly.
GIORGIA= What do you sing in the shower?
G= COME SAPREI (song by Giorgia)
GIORGIA= Liar!
I= (I don’t understand)
P= CAN’T TAKE MY EYES OFF YOU
Ignazio makes fun of Piero by thinking of him singing that song in the shower. 😂😂
GIORGIA= What is the song that is never missing from your playlist.
G= CAN’T HELP FALLING IN LOVE. 😍
GIORGIA= How romantic!
I= YOU AND I by Stevie Wonder
P= MY WAY, every morning I brush my teeth with Frank Sinatra
GIORGIA= If you had to choose a solo stage name, what would you choose?
G= Ignazio Boschetto 😂
I= Cucu Ramaya (song) 😂
P= Giorgio 😂
GIORGIA= Which historical group would you have liked to be part of?
G=Beatles
I= Bon Jovi
P= The Poohs
GIORGIA= The song that gives you energy.
G= THE SHOW MUST GO ON by Queen.
I= I FEEL GOOD
P= FIESTA, by Carrà
GIORGIA= The song you would dedicate to your son or daughter.
G= AVRAI (he sang it at the beginning) Or A TE by Jovannotti.
I= I don’t know because I will write it when I have a baby. ❤️❤️
P= CAPOLAVORO
GIORGIA= Last question: Which one of you will sing the next song? I’m telling you, Ignazio, the stage is yours!
Ignazio will perform a rock song, so he changes his jacket.
In the presentation he explains that this singer-songwriter’s father broke his guitar because he wanted him to study, but then he showed him that music was his life, Ignazio talks about Lucio Battisti, a very famous singer-songwriter in Italy. The song is:  IL TEMPO DI MORIRE and Ignazio uses a rock guitar!😉

Il Volo performs the always beautiful GRANDE AMORE. ❤️
Now there is a truly very touching duet between Gianluca and a much-loved singer-songwriter, Roberto Vecchioni.
Gianluca dedicates a letter to him written “from the bottom of his heart” and reads it as he enters. I translate it for you.
“Thank you professor (Vecchioni is a university teacher) for teaching us the art of the word that opens the doors of infinity.”
(Vecchioni enters and both are very moved).
You are here. (Gianluca repeats and continues)
You taught me to embrace pain, even if it hurts
and with kindness the chains of ignorance and intolerance can be broken, generating beauty.
You showed all of us that strength lies in fragility and the courage to be yourself and that love comes suddenly and you can’t control it. Happens.
The purity of a feeling that does not possess, but frees.
I hope that no end will put your love to sleep and that your message will continue to shout loudly for all those guys like me, like us.
And you’re right about my girlfriend, it’s my job and I promise to continue treating it with care. ❤️
(The last sentences from “I hope….” are sentences taken from Vecchioni’s songs)
A long hug.
VECCHIONI= Now let’s not sing anymore, you moved me!
GIANLUCA= I want to leave you the letter, it’s a memory of me.
VECCHIONI= I’ll put it in my room in a painting.
An evening like this is unforgettable and then with you saying these things, how nice!
GIANLUCA= Thanks, it’s thanks to you.
VECCHIONI = It is thanks to humanity in general that it manages to produce sensitive people like you. (cheers)
GIANLUCA= Shall we sing?
Together they perform Vecchioni’s song: CHIAMAMI ANCORA AMORE ❤️
At the end, long hugs and Gianluca can’t hold back his tears. (Gianluca has always said that when he was little his dad made him listen to the songs of this singer-songwriter, which is why he has such great respect for him)
GIANLUCA= I dreamed and I achieved my dreams also thanks to this moment which was one of the most exciting of my life. ❤️
VECCHIONI = For me too.
GIANLUCA= And I thank you.
VECCHIONI= Are you crying? You who conquered the world, are crying for me who have conquered only one country! You’re great. ❤️
GIANLUCA= You are great. Roberto Vecchioni!
VECCHIONI = Bye everyone.
Piero’s beautiful classic solo follows: AMOR, VIDA DE MI VIDA, sung in Spanish .
It’s Ignazio’s moment who offers a medley by another Italian singer-songwriter who I think you already know: Pino Daniele.
The medley includes:
RESTA CU’MME
I SAY I STO CCÀ
YES I KNOW MY WAY
in a mix of Italian and Neapolitan.
The always beautiful Tosca romance follows: NESSUN DORMA
At this point Giorgia is called back on stage and once again Giorgio didn’t understand that it wasn’t his moment…
GIORGIO= Good thing you called me because I fell asleep on the Nessun Dorma. 😂😂
The boys apologize to Giorgio and say that he didn’t understand that the ending of the name was A and not O. 😳😁😁
Giorgio says that perhaps the Arena has bad acoustics because the three of them sing well but speak badly and from behind you can’t understand A or O well so he recommends the kids to pronounce well or to send him a whatsapp!! 🤣🤣🤣
Giorgio goes out and Ignazio tells the boys that maybe it’s best for Giorgio to have his hearing checked. 😉😂😂
And now GiorgiA comes in and has prepared some nice questions for Il Volo.
This time Giorgia will ask personal questions, but they will have to answer as if they were another of the three. 😳😳🤪🤪

Ignazio becomes Piero
Piero becomes Gianluca
Gianluca becomes Ignazio

GIORGIA= What’s your name?
GIANLUCA= Ignazio
IGNAZIO= Piero
PIERO/GIAN= My name is Gianluca, hi…..wait I have to wink.
GIORGIA= Your favorite hobby.
PIERO/GIAN= Instagram 😂
GIAN/IGNA= Playstation.
Ignazio says it’s not true, but Gianluca protests by saying that he and Piero can say everything about him, so he can do it too. 😉
IGNA/PIERO= I’m doing the marathon so I run, I run.
GIORGIA= How do you like to dress?
PIERO/GIAN= Every day different from the next. 😁
IGNAZIO=….how much I liked being Gianluca at this moment….😁😁
GIAN/IGNA= Does he know what he’s doing? He spreads the glue, goes into the wardrobe and puts on whatever remains stuck to him. 🤣🤣
(Piero compliments him for the answer)
GIANLUCA= You’ve seen, I can be nice too!😉
GIORGIA= (To Ignazio) Do you want to say something?
IGNAZIO= Now I’ve redone the walk-in closet, I got all the same clothes so I’m dressed the same every day. 😂
GIORGIA= So how do you dress?
IGNA/PIERO= Terrible! 🤣
GIORGIA= Your relationship with social media.
PIERO/GIAN= I’m here every day😂
GIANLUCA= But at least I always stay in touch with our fans.🥰
PIERO= You must know that we have just returned from Japan, we visited Nara, I have been there, but I saw more things on his Instagram than with my own eyes.😂
GIAN/IGNA= Non-existent, Ignazio doesn’t have a telephone.
GIORGIA= This honors you, can I say it??
PIERO= But who are you telling? (Igna has the sign with the name Piero)😳😳😁
GIORGIA= I don’t know, I’m confused!! 🤪🤪
Last question: What relationship do you have with the hairdresser?
PIERO/GIAN= I’ll even take my personal one to Japan.😂😂
IGNA/PIERO= He (Piero) when he goes to cut his hair, in front of the mirror says:  “The thirty-second hair back here and the one hundred and twenty-seventh is longer.” 😂😂
GIAN/IGNA= Instead you (Ignazio) go with the lawnmower 🤣🤣
GIORGIA= Give me back the signs, guys, you were very nice.
From above in the royal box position, Giorgio Panariello in a serious moment reads beautiful words of Bertolt Brecht.
“Children play at war, it is rare for them to play at peace, because adults have always been at war.
You go PUM (shot) and laugh, the soldier shoots and another man doesn’t laugh anymore.
It’s war.
There is another game to invent: make the world smile, don’t make it cry.
Peace means that not everyone likes the same game, that your toys are also liked by other children who often don’t have them, because maybe you have too many of your own, that other children’s drawings are not messes, that your mother doesn’t it’s just all yours, that all children are your friends.
And peace is still: don’t be hungry, don’t be cold, don’t be afraid.”
❤️
Il Volo sings the beautiful SMILE. 🥰
Gianluca calls GiorgiO Panariello on stage, but GiorgiA arrives.
IGNAZIO= There must be a problem back there: GiorgiO 🤣
GIORGIA= Eh, wasn’t it me?
(Giorgio enters)
Hi GiorgiO
GIORGIO= Hi GiorgiA.
GIANLUCA= But we can’t do these figures though.
GIORGIO= I explained the acoustics problem to GiorgiA back there, but she doesn’t remember it. (to Giorgia) You have to take the drops of memory (Drops of memory is a song by Giorgia) 🤣🤣🤣 because they are useful to you in these moments here. Agree?
Now it’s my turn.
Then GiorgiA goes backstage.
A long funny historical comic monologue begins by Giorgio Panariello who explains the origins of the Arena. (I translate some passages of the monologue.)
GIORGIO= We are at the Verona Arena, we are immersed in history, you don’t know these things, I have studied, this amphitheater where you are sitting comfortably, it is a Roman amphitheater dating back to the first century AD, think about it, this structure was built even before the Colosseum.
PIERO= I’ve known you forever, but I didn’t think you were such a man of culture. How do you know all these things?
GIORGIO= It’s written on the teleprompter. 🤣🤣
It’s written there.
GIANLUCA= But you can’t reveal it like that.
GIORGIO= You can read too….it’s all written there.
IGNAZIO= But you certainly read it better!
GIORGIO= Because in Verona there is nothing older and better preserved, apart from Gianluca’s forelock, than the Verona Arena. This tuft (talking to Gianluca) dates back to the time of the Etruscans, they already had this tuft here. 😂
The Arena of Verona was built by the Romans right here in Verona, what a coincidence……(now he makes a list of Italian monuments)…..look at this Arena how well it has been preserved, the walls, the stands, the audience, look at how the audience was preserved, when the Romans arrived these people were already here, with umbrellas and raincoats when it rains, they built the Arena around them, I’ve already seen that gentleman there in a bas-relief preserved in the Vatican museums.🤣
People were already here when gladiators fought in the Arena and there were also chariots, have you ever seen chariots? (The speech takes on a mischievous tone and Piero and Ignazio laugh a lot.)
Then in the Middle Ages theatrical and lyrical and therefore musical shows began to be performed and this is why you are here, and with you there is also me, your Giorgio…….your GiorgiO!!!!
GiorgiA comes back after hearing her name called, but Giorgio tells her that it wasn’t her time and sends her away.
Giorgio says that he came to sing and together with Il Volo and the audience they perform a small singing gag. 😁😁😁
Gianluca presents one of the most loved songs in the world, precisely: IL MONDO.
Ignazio says that it has been many years since they sang this beautiful song that everyone knows: LEI (SHE).
Giorgia returns and now it’s Ignazio, Piero and Gianluca who want to ask her questions.
PIERO= Question number one. Which artist did you have a poster of in your room?
GIORGIA= Whitney Houston.
IGNAZIO= Which historical group would you have liked to be part of?
GIORGIA= Queen.
GIANLUCA= What lullaby did you sing to your baby?
GIORGIA= I sang Lullaby to Smelly Cat.
PIERO= Which piece of music are you most attached to?
GIORGIA= Soul of Pino Daniele.
IGNAZIO= The strangest place where you sang a song?
GIORGIA= A wardrobe.
GIANLUCA= The most absurd gift you’ve ever received from a fan?
GIORGIA= The toilet brush shaped like a microphone.
The questions are over and Giorgia thanks the guys for the experience of being with them, she also tells them that they are human, nice and cool people.
It’s Piero’s moment who says that it’s not Il Volo that brings Italian music around, but Italian music that brings Il Volo into the world.
Piero pays homage to Puccini and all the writers of Operas by saying that Operas are nothing more than life stories where usually two people get to know each other and then everyone dies. 😳😁
Piero performs from Tosca: RECONDITA ARMONIA
Gianluca follows with the solo: ALWAYS ON MY MIND in memory of great Elvis Presley.
Now another touching moment, Ignazio reads a letter dedicated to a woman killed by her man a year ago.
And where are you, a fragile soul, in which part of the universe do you find yourself.
Who knows if where you are the sun rises and then sets.
Who knows if grandmothers bake cakes and grandfathers tell fairy tales.
Who knows if people go to harvest and you can still run among the vines.
Who knows if the sea is always curled and the wind blows strong, or maybe everything is calm, calm and silent.

Who knows if there is someone there too who wants to tie up your freedom, because here you were not free to choose.
You were deprived of the beauty of life with an act of human smallness.
Alone I am no one to say enough to violence, but if we say it together we can make a difference.
Who knows if now, where you are, you will have found love.
Hi Marisa!
🙏
Ignazio sings ANIMA FRAGILE, a song written by the singer-songwriter Vasco Rossi.
Enter Gaetano Curreri, singer of Stadio, a boy band that Ignazio followed and imitated as a child.
At the end of the duet Ignazio thanks Gaetano Curreri and at the end he says that it was a great emotion to sing this song with him and now he feels happy.
And now Il Volo, reunited, sings GRANADA in three different styles.
A beautiful tribute to Morricone follows with the song SE, taken from Nuovo Cinema Paradiso.
Now a beautiful duet by Ignazio with Mara Sattei singing CREEP by Radiohead.
We return to classical music with a solo by Piero who performs Rossini’s tarantella LA DANZA, a song already sung by Gianluca during Notte Magica.
A solo by Gianluca who sings a beautiful song by the singer-songwriter De Andrè: LA CANZONE DELL’AMORE.
This song is very sweet and Gianluca sings it with so much emotion.
When Piero and Ignazio return, Piero says: “Good boy”
and Ignazio says: “This is proof that when you sing from the heart you make a difference and so I was moved.” 😍😍😍
Giorgia returns, but this time to sing together with Il Volo, (in particular with Ignazio who often sings it), her song E POI.
Piero announces the final song of the concert, a song taken from their new album: AD ASTRA.
At the final bars of the beautiful song, a riot of confetti floods the people.
Thus ends a fantastic concert, a perfect and harmonious set of voices, sounds, colours.
Next week will be the concert I attended.
Needless to say, the television broadcast achieved maximum ratings.
Now I want to hear your opinions.
See you soon: Daniela

ARENA 2024 WHAT A CONCERT by Daniela

As I told you, I was in the Arena in Verona for the Il Volo concert “Tutti per uno” on the evening of May 11th.
To say that it was a MAGNIFICENT concert is truly an understatement, because everything was beautiful and well prepared.

What can we say about the stage and sets?

Stunning, an alternation of lights, colors, images appropriate to the songs!!!
What can we say about the excellent orchestra of 54 elements, the excellent members of the choir positioned on two sides and the fantastic conducting of the friendly Maestro Rota?
What can we say about the numerous but spectacular guests who took turns with our guys?
What about the choice of songs, all beautiful and representative?
What about the fantastic Arena, an enchanting place, packed with a participating, cheering and collaborative audience, who illuminated the Arena with thousands of lights and sang at the top of their lungs?
And finally what to say about our three musketeers, our fantastic ones
PIERO
IGNAZIO
GIANLUCA
from their wonderful voices, their mastery on stage, their sympathy, kindness, humility and strength, they force themselves to perform in concert on TV recording without “downtime”, with numerous guests, different songs, different rhythms…… ….Priceless. Attending one of their concerts is a wonderful event, and……….a small but important note, this year it didn’t rain!!!
I realize that the first three concerts in the Arena, which have also been recorded and will be broadcast as early as May 14th  by Canale 5, are designed for Italian TV, and therefore the dialogues are in Italian and the guests are known here in Italy, but the foreign audience present still appreciated it a lot and the Italian audience sang and rejoiced listening to beautiful Italian songs that are sometimes forgotten and which have triggered beautiful memories in each of us.
I didn’t make videos, because the three evenings will certainly be broadcast in excellent quality by Canale 5 and I will show them to you and translate the speeches so you too will be able to understand better, I only took some photos with my cell phone but the resolution is certainly not good, but we will have time to put better videos and photos and we will talk a lot about these concerts. This time I am attaching some videos made by my friend Francesca Brazzale who I thank very much.
Know that the emotion of our three boys was palpable.
The start of the evening was amazing, they started by singing the beautiful song from the film GLADIATOR, how exciting: “NELLE TUE MANI”.

I don’t know exactly how the three concerts will be edited by Canale 5, but I can tell you that during the one I attended, it was nice to see Piero and Gianluca join their mothers in the Arena and give them a kiss and it was sweet to listen to the beautiful words dedicated by Ignazio to his deceased father.
In the next video I propose the duet with Irama also contained in the new CD Ad Astra: SATURNO E VENERE.

My husband and I had seats in the fifth row on the far left looking at the stage and I must say that they were not bad seats at all. Near us on the first steps were Torpedine, Barbara, Michelle, Ernesto and his father Ercole who I was able to meet personally that evening.
At a certain point in Capolavoro, Gianluca came to sing right on the stage in front of where we were and we could all see that he was very emotional, to the point of tears.
The last video I propose for this little roundup is LA VITA (LIFE), a beautiful song with very important words.

And here is the roundup of my photos which, as I told you, are not very beautiful, but they are mine and we will certainly have time to see some beautiful ones.
It goes without saying that the Arena is also the ideal place for meetings between fans.
Even though my husband and I arrived at the last moment because we couldn’t find free parking for the car, I was able to say hello to Kirsten and her husband from Denmark, Laura and Ugo from Trieste, Judith from Canada, Susan and her brother from Chicago, too bad I didn’t see Jolanta from Poland then I have know Martina Gerlach-Bunz from Germany, and even if these brief hugs and greetings fill our hearts, this is yet another power of Il Volo, that of bringing together people of different cultures in the name of music.
In this photo: me, my husband Beppe, Kirsten Langer and her husband Steen.
And what about our amazing loving boys??
May 12th was the birthday of Michele Torpedine who was turning 72 years old and during the rehearsals, Ignazio conducted all the orchestral members and choristers and everyone wished Michele a happy birthday, these three were truly UNIQUE!!!
Surely Michele Torpedine will have been happy!

AUGURI TORPEDINE!! 🎂🍾🍾🥰

I don’t want to say anything else so as not to spoil the various surprises that you will be able to see during the three evenings of television.
Meanwhile, Canale 5 has broadcast this nice promo which anticipates the broadcast of the concerts.
I conclude with this beautiful comment published by my journalist friend Antonella Esposito who was present at the concert, never more beautiful words to express what an Il Volo concert is!!
Il Volo: “Tutti per uno” is not a simple concert, it is a multiplayer show in which all the pieces intersect creating the intermittent vision of a body in a periodic way. From the lighting system, to the stage scaffolding, through the graphic mood, up to the perfection of the fluidly diffused and never aggressive sound, everything is there and in the right place.
There is the setting of the Arena, there are guests, many of them.
There is charisma, the different color of voices and character, there is lightness, solemnity, memory.
There is the history of music of which it is a full part.

ARE YOU READY TO SEE THE FIRST ENTIRE CONCERT?
SEE YOU SOON!!

Melpignano to Verona and Beyond!

As I promised last week, while I am researching, I will post old stories. This is the first of those stories!
This story if from 2021! Enjoy!
This has been an amazing week. How often over the last year have we said we missed the guys. Well they sure made up for it this week. One spectacular event after another.
So let’s start in the beautiful region of Apulia, Italy.
La Notte della Taranta”, is one of the largest Festivals in Italy and one of the most significant manifestations of popular culture in Europe. The final concert of La Notte della Taranta, has had as many as one hundred and fifty thousand spectators in the past. It takes place in Salento, in the municipality of Melpignano, at the esplanade of the former Augustinian Convent specifically for the rediscovery and the enhancement of traditional Salento music. It is not limited to traditional music. It also allows for rock, jazz and symphonic music.  This year’s host was Albano.
Listen to the voices of our guys coming alive backstage! It’s a calling! “Who sells olives.”

IL VOLO with Albano on stage

Meanwhile Albano awaits their arrival on stage. He tells us about the song. It is from the region of Apulia, the region where  he was born. He says, “It reminds me of the autumn song. It is the November song.”
November is the time of the olive harvest and a man would always pass with a cart of olives to sell to the people. Albano and Ignazio sing a phrase in the Apulian dialect (“Who has olives, I have to buy them.”) Albano said when Modugno sang in the Apulian dialect he was very proud of him. Ignazio said, “So let’s hope, with this next song we will sing, to make you even more proud of your land.”
Albano tells the guys, “You know that I am proud to have you here beside me…”
Gianluca responded,  “and we are happy ….”
Albano (continues) “…simply because I baptized these two..”
Albano is referring to Ignazio and Piero who he performed with on Ti Lascio Una Canzone.  I remember those performances and that Albano was in awe of both of them. Then Albano continues about Gianluca who he didn’t perform with at Ti Lascio una Canzone.
Albano says, “And to you, (Gianluca) you I baptize this evening.”
Gianluca responds, “One day, sooner or later, we will sing together. But it is nice, I can say, that these events make it possible to spread a musical culture like this of the Taranta, and it is right that young people are attached to the roots of these great events. We must not lose this desire to carry on traditions, we too, as young people, are proud to be here tonight.
Ignazio elaborates on this thought in one of their interviews…
“It is certainly one of the most important cultural events in Italy, and welcome, because I always say that Italy is a nation full of different cultures and traditions and certainly these events give space to make known their own traditions and culture, and therefore we are honored to be part of it, alongside Albano, an Apulian DOC, who has never forgotten his origins and there is also Madame (she is a singer) who is a young woman, like us. Hence the importance of carrying the roots, ALWAYS, in any situation, in any place.”

When the music begins our guys sing the National Anthem of the region in Griko which is a mixture of Italian and Greek. Another language to add to their list!

Notte della Taranta stage from the audience

Performers on the Notte della Taranta stage

Griko is unique to this region but there are other regions, in Italy, that speak languages other than Italian. In many Arberesh villages where the people are Italian, Albanian and Greek they have their own languages. My grandfathers’ town Vaccarizzo Albanese is an Aberesh town and they have retained the archaic features of both Gheg and Tosk dialects. Many of the words they spoke at the festival, I understood. It was a beautiful experience for me.

IL VOLO performing on the Notte della Taranta stage

The guys performance was magnificent. From the first larilò larilò lallero to the last, the whole stage was alive with their voices and a rhythm and beat that I can’t get out of mind! You could see how much the guys were enjoying it. Their interpretation of this beautiful song was awesome! Festivals are at the heart of the Italian people. They love them! This song is so full of joy and happiness.

Dancers performing on the Notte della Taranta stage

The dancers were wonderful! Through the dance, they told the story of the people, of their labors and, their joys. The hardship of life and the happiness of home and family! Their singing and the dancing was very uplifting.  And the guys’ interaction with the dancers and musicians on stage brought the whole story together. They brought the audience into the song and together they presented the history and culture of the people. This was very unique and the guys helped us to see another culture within their Italian culture. A magnificent delivery of the beautiful Anthem of the Griko people! Truly an amazing event!
Next stop Venezia! Talk about an exciting event!
Where do I begin…

IL VOLO being given their Film Italy Movie Award by Tiziana Rocca

In the afternoon the guys attended the award presentations where they were presented as winners of the 78th Film Italy Movie Awards. Upon exiting the building, they were interviewed by an unknown man…
Man: This is not Sanremo, this is the cinema exhibition!
Piero: But it seems a little like Sanremo, we meet, all familiar faces.
Gianluca: We are preparing a very ambitious recording project which is a tribute to maestro Ennio Morricone. We had the opportunity to collaborate with Vittorio Storaro in a music video, so we are here in the company of a great master of cinema, Vittorio Storaro.
Ignazio: He chose our voices for a tribute of the video of “Your Love,” which is shot in the Frasassi Caves, and therefore it is beautiful, this is not the first time we come here. It is always a beautiful atmosphere. Venice is a place that is stupendous.

IL VOLO riding in their water taxi

Later in the day, the guys appeared in their transport to Lido. What do we see here? We see three elegant young men who are on the brink of a new direction in their lives. Not leaving all that they are and all they always will be, we know they will never leave the concert stage, but taking the next step on their road to greatness!
What we’ve been watching these last few months, every time we see the video of the Frasassi Caves, is the guys embarkation on a new and wonderful experience in their lives. They are the stars of this Short Film. They are what makes this film possible. Vittorio Storaro’s genius and the presence and voice of Il Volo have made this movie an award winning production.
To help you understand this better let me tell you what Storaro had to say about this…
The idea actually comes from what we have been through all this last year, the disgrace that has happened to us from the pandemic, which has closed all the arts a little.
But then there was an idea which came from Pirandello, who said: One, Nobody, One Hundred Thousand (the title of a Pirandello novel), and in this case becomes a Once Upon a Time, as the project of Il Volo and the music of Ennio Morricone, start from Once Upon a Time in the West, directed by a great director, Sergio Leone, with the music of Morricone, the subject of Bernardo Bertolucci and Dario Argento, so there is a whole series of characters that carry some new message.
A message that also becomes a hope, not only in the present, but also in the future, because if before, once upon a time there was Nobody, where art enters, in this case Music and Singing, which is represented by Il Volo, the song with the music of Ennio Morricone “Your Love,” brings a new energy, energy that practically becomes: Once upon a time there was no one, and now Il Volo ~ over and over!
So we will see that Gianluca, Piero and Ignazio multiply.
When they descend from that blessed rope where the first boys went down here in the caves many years ago (50 years ago), it is a little like entering a seed into mother earth and thus forming a new generation, which is the generation of the future.
Il Volo, in this case becomes a symbol, as, not only does it enter the womb of the earth, it first regenerates the energy of life, but it can do it in all the squares, in all the theaters, in all the places of the world, and that, certainly is what music is, nevertheless it carries a great message of love.
Storaro was so right that carrying their music around the world will revive the music industry through this project. Through it the music will be alive again.
So that also sums up where our guys are headed! A part of their new direction. Presenting this movie throughout the world. It is our guys bringing a message to the world. A message of hope and love for all people and all nations!

So let’s rejoin the guys on the red carpet.
Along with the Storaro family we find Storaro’s newly adopted family Il Volo.
These guys certainly lit up the red carpet. Elegant in their Dolce & Gabbana tuxedos there was no lack of interest in their presence.
How did the guys feel in this moment? Perhaps the words of Ignazio in a Rappler interview sums it up. “It was amazing working with Maestro Vittorio Storaro, remembering all the most beautiful moments that he spent with the Maestro Morricone….It is our dream. The three of us will be on the red carpet with Vittorio Storaro.”
Of course Ignazio was referring to, Vittorio Storaro, their director, the veteran director who won three Oscars, including one for Francis Ford Coppola’s masterpiece, Apocalypse Now, which he and the director shot in the Philippines.
The new short, dedicated by Storaro to the master composer, Morricone, who passed away in 2020. A clip of the movie was premiered at the fourth edition of Filming Italy Best Movie Award on the occasion of the 78th Venice Film Festival.  And as you know Storaro won a Best Italian Film award and so did our guys for their starring role and their song “Your Love.”
Next the cocktail party…
Did you notice where all the women flocked to? Our guys! Who could resist these gorgeous guys. They grace the room with their presence. When they enter a room it lights up.
Italy what have you to say about your guys now. You have got to be so proud of them. Look at how they shine in the world! But there was never a problem in recognition. We in America have always been proud of them and called them our own. I hope this project will allow them to spend more time in the US! Maybe at the Academy Awards. Although we will only see the film for the first time on September 25th at the premier at the Frasassi Caves we already know how important this project is and how beautiful this film is.
Let them lose on the red carpet again! Our red carpet in America!!!
From this project we can see so many more projects like this on the horizon.

IL VOLO with their Film Italy Movie Award

We are so proud of the award they won at the 78th Venice Film Festival, but that was only the beginning!
Next stop Verona…
Do you ever feel when they’re in Verona, they are home? I certainly do. To me they own the Verona Arena. Every performance there is phenomenal!
They returned to the Seat Music Awards to sing their beautiful song, “Your Love” and to pick up their second award for the week!
While writing this I remembered a year ago when they were at the SMA. It was to restart the music industry.
I’m going to go back to the story I wrote about the event last year. “Turn on the Lights”
I know we will never forget the night before the performance when the guys went to the Arena to check out the lights. It was beautiful and funny at the same time. Let’s pop in to listen to the guys conversation:

Ignazio to Piero: What are you doing?
Piero: What are you looking at?
Ignazio: The light that is there.
Gianluca: It’s Beautiful.
Ignazio: The gorgeous light. Gorgeous! Gorgeous!
Of course, Piero pulled out his phone and started to video.
But what was it about the lights that got Ignazio’s attention? Well they were as Ignazio said, “La Luce Stupenda! “The lights were gorgeous,” but I think he was thinking about the last lights that he saw on stage. When they turned off the lights at their last performance in the US and went home to a country in pain from a pandemic!
When the guys arrived on stage, they had a message for the world and all people in the industry:

Ignazio: 2020 will be remembered as the year where the world would be constrained to be turned off.
Gianluca: For the music employees the verb “turn off’ means the end of the show, when the curtains close and it is the waiting moment for the next show, but this time the waiting lasted more than expected, the silence was unavoidable.
Piero: Now, the world is getting ready to start again! Now the moment has arrived to raise the curtain! Now, we will turn on the music!”
This beautiful statement was followed by the performance of the evening. Their choice of “Nessun Dorma” sent an even stronger message. It’s says we may have to perform under these new world conditions, but we don’t have to change who we are or why we’re here. In this ancient Arena we look to the past while following the path to the future.
From their first note the whole arena lit up. Their voices were clean and crisp. Their presence was illuminating. Their notes rose above the Arena into the night sky to let the world know music is back! The final note of their song sent the final statement. All three voices rose in unison and their voices sent forth a note that took our breaths away! It said We Have Returned! ”Turn on the Lights.”
Isn’t it ironic that one year later they win an award for the short film Frasassi Caves for which they are represented as regenerating the energy of life? Music is their energy!
They so deserve this award.
So let’s get back to this weeks’ performance at the Arena.
Prior to the guys performance, the stage was set up with multi color lights but when the guys arrived on stage, I think they were even surprised. The stage was lit as it was for last years performance. Very simple, very plain but what was going on in the audience was a totally different story. All phones were lit up. It was magic.
They stepped on stage in their beautiful but informal all black attire. Elegant in its simplicity!
As they come face to face with the audience, I could see the emotion in their faces.
Look at how these people love them and how they love their fans!
And then it begins. …

This song is slowly becoming a signature song! A song that reminds us of sadness but brings us to a new and exciting time in the lives of our guys! It’s as if Vito left them a final gift, a new and exciting adventure in their lives.  It is the song that will lead the way in their new tour around the world. Always before them will be this song and the movie which has already and continues to make its mark in history!

Left to right: Gianluca, with Ignazio gesturing toward heaven Piero on stage after they sang Your Love

At the end of the song, Vanessa Incontrada and Carlo Conti spoke with the guys about the Tribute to Ennio Morricone at the Verona Arena.
Gianluca greets everyone, “Good evening!”
Carlo: “Il Volo, to start these SEAT Music Awards in the best way.”
Vanessa: “And what an atmosphere they created for you (the audience), with all the mobile phones on, great emotion I saw in your faces.”
Gianluca: “We are happy to see you again.”
Vanessa: “Us too.”
Carlo: Us too, us too.
Gianluca: Finally in the Arena.
Vanessa: Finally, but it has now become your home.
Carlo: In short, I mean, you did an extraordinary event on RAI1 just dedicated as a tribute to Maestro Morricone.
Piero: We had the honor of paying homage to Maestro Morricone here at the Arena of Verona, for us, the audience, for an artist, for a singer, it is oxygen. It was an evening full of guests, but for us, the biggest guest was the audience. After a year and a half, to see them again, sing for them!
Vanessa: We understand these words well, but will you take this event to the world? I guess so.
Ignazio: Yes, we start in March 2022, we finally start with the world tour and we finish in September – October, from America, we end up in Japan and then New Zealand, so beautiful.
Vanessa: You have many things to do, let’s say.
Ignazio: Yes, but it is wonderful, after almost two years, to start singing again. I remember that a year ago, in this same program, we said …. let’s hope it starts again, the music can’t stop and meet again after a year and see that the music has never stopped, it’s beautiful!
Vanessa: Seeing them (the audience), as you said, involved with you, is nice.
Carlo: A beautiful concert, a beautiful television event, but there is a tribute album to Ennio Morricone, when will this album be released?
Gianluca: Let’s say that it is a very ambitious project, that with great responsibility, right on tiptoe and a lot of humility, we decided to undertake this path which is a musical project that is a tribute to all the most beautiful soundtracks of the maestro Morricone.
Piero: And tonight we announce the date.
Gianluca: Yes, because this record will be released on November 5th, from Cinema Paradiso, to Once Upon a Time in the West, to the Good, the Ugly, the Bad.
Vanessa: His greatest songs, let’s say.
Gianluca: And we can’t wait to start the tour.
Carlo: Well a great album and therefore it will be released on November 5th.
Then Carlo presented the guys with their DIVA award…
IL VOLO with their DIVA award
Carlo: I seriously read the inscription: Arena di Verona Award for Il Volo, for the tribute project to Ennio Morricone, represented with great success right here at the Verona Arena, live on RAI1, and for the over 10 years of career, which led them to be known and appreciated representatives of Italian music in the world.
And so we come to the end of the events of the last week. But….
We’ve gone from Melpignano to Verona but what about Beyond. I said the end of the events, not the end of the story. So we follow the guys no matter where they go from Melpignano to Verona and Beyond but, where beyond?
Let’s listen to what Gianluca had to say about their future….
“Our dream is to see The Ecstasy of Gold performed at the Academy Awards.”
That works for me! Onward to the Academy Awards! Hope to see you there!
Join me next week as I go back Through the Fields of My Mind and open the door to a new adventure!
