IL VOLO to LA VITA IN DIRETTA by Daniela

Once again Il Volo was a guest of RAI1 on the LA VITA IN DIRETTA (LIVE LIFE) program.

Their testimony is beautiful, here’s what they said.

Lorella Cuccarini, the presenter of the program, announces in connection from their homes, Ignazio, Gianluca and Piero: Il Volo.

Ignazio immediately shows a sheet with the words “Lorella, you are beautiful.”

Lorella immediately says that Il Volo was on tour in the US and they returned, immediately putting themselves in quarantine, so she asks them how they are living these days.

Piero says that the first thing they did on their return, was the self-denunciation to put themselves in voluntary isolation, they are behaving responsibly, because it is the wisest thing to do. The message they have to send is to stay home.
Fortunately, quarantine stimulates their creativity and thanks to social media and technology, they are not so far away.

La Vita 01

Lorella recalls that they participated in a charity event, together with many other Italian singers, in support of an Italy torn by events, and asks what it represented for them.

Ignazio replies that all the artists are making their contribution towards the people who follow them and, beyond their discography, it is nice to be united and be able to sing freely for their fans and all the people who cannot see them now in concert.

La Vita 02

Lorella asks Gianluca how much was missing at the end of their American tour and Gianluca confirms that a week was missing and they had to cancel three concerts.

When they returned home they found a deserted Italy, a truly painful moment and people in these moments need hope.

Gian says that he appreciated the Pope’s words very much and it was heartbreaking to see him in an empty St. Peter’s Square. In addition, Gian also recalls that today April 2 is 15 years since the death of Pope John Paul II, one of the most charismatic popes.

He goes on to say that, we are experiencing a tragic period all over the world, even in America the situation is deteriorating.

Gian recommends attention to guys of their age, says that nobody is omnipotent, nobody is immune, so you have to be responsible.

Gian tells Lorella that the three of them must be an example for the boys of their age, therefore responsibly, for the good of all, one must stay at home. Particularly for older people, and Gian says that he himself has not yet seen his grandfather, who lives near his home.

La Vita 03

The presenter says that Piero, Gianluca and Ignazio are in their cities (one in the south, one in the center and one in the north) and practically represent the whole of Italy, with great differences depending on the area, and therefore asks everyone, how is the situation from them.

Piero says that in Sicily, health facilities are not able to face the difficulties due to the virus, confirms that he and some Sicilian artists have started a fundraiser.

People understood the gravity of the moment. He says that after the fifteen days of isolation are over, he went out to do the swab and found that the streets were empty, so he is proud to have seen that the Italians are responsible people.

La Vita 04

Ignazio says he doesn’t know what the situation is like, because he has always been at home since he returned.

He confirms, as Gian has already said, that we must be responsible and also think of others, stay at home, we do it, also for others, because it takes very little to infect.

Ignazio says he is always at home, he goes to the studio (he made a small recording corner for the music), the dining room, then again to the studio and then to bed.

He says that you have to take advantage of these moments to enjoy the family. He says that he spends more time with his parents, who instead he usually sees little and also advises all young people to do this, because taken from the rhythm of life, many members of the families don’t know each other well.

La Vita 05

Gianluca says that they are privileged, but there are people who are suffering so much and are not even able to shop for food. He would like to be close to all those people and help them, because he reads about people who really need help. He saw that in some places people have organized baskets with food and signs that say “Those who can, put food.” – “Those who cannot, take food.”

The presenters thank Piero, Gianluca and Ignazio very much for the nice words, the beautiful examples they are giving and greet them with affection and admiration.

La Vita 06

Piero, Ignazio and Gianluca, once again, thank you for being as you are. ❤️

IL VOLO to Storie Italiane by Daniela

Ignazio, Gianluca and Piero, are once again guests online, I translate briefly.

Eleonora Daniele, leads the program on RAI 1, Storie Italiane (Italian Stories), announces the arrival of Il Volo online, with these words:

“Italian artists, known all over the world, are three young, very young, who started from RAI 1.

They represent the new generation of great artists, but not only that, they have made very important appeals for the cities where they live. They are three and only Il Volo: Gianluca, Piero and Ignazio.”

After the greetings, Eleonora asks the boys, how they are experiencing this moment and what message they want to give people.

Gianluca replies that it is a difficult moment for everyone, something that has never been seen, and they try to be an example for young people by giving this message on their social profiles: to be strong, to stay at home, to be responsible, because nobody is immune. There are many people who are suffering not only in Italy, but all over the world.

They also had to cancel concerts and return ten days earlier to stay at home with their families.

So you all have to be responsible, respect above all for many people who are suffering, but also for doctors, nurses, who are saving lives and risking theirs.

Piero says that every morning we wake up looking for good news and this morning we start to glimpse a small light at the end of the tunnel.

This is thanks to our doctors, to the people who are helping us, but also to all of us, in the commitment that we are putting into all this.

The commitment of us artists, thanks to the notoriety, is to spread the messages like that of staying at home.

Piero confirms that Sicily is not well equipped in his hospitals, therefore he has proposed this fundraiser with other artists in order to purchase what is needed.

Ignazio says it is a moment of solidarity.

A great praise to all the doctors and nurses who are helping, they are showing great love, helping many people not knowing them, because they love their job and love their neighbor.

Italy is now more unique than ever, we have to be careful, stay at home, not just think about ourselves, but also about others, altruism is the key in these times.

Eleonora plays the song Hallelujah sung by Ignazio.

I FATTI 01

Then she asks the boys to perform a small song sung by them, and although there are small differences in connection times, the boys sing a verse of Grande Amore.

Ignazio wishes Eleonora well (she is going to have a baby) and she says that she will be a fan of Il Volo, as Mum is already.

Below is the photo of the victory of Sanremo 2015.

A big success.

Piero says that their way of exulting (jumping) is exaggerated and they laugh at this.

Ignazio remembers that at the Billboards, Gianluca was a grasshopper that kept jumping.

Gianluca says it is difficult to control emotions.

In the interview is shown the video of the victory of Sanremo and Eleonora says that they made Italy’s dream come true at that moment.

I FATTI 02

Piero says that they owe everything to the Italian cultural and musical heritage.

Eleonora introduces the video of Sanremo 2019, MUSICA CHE RESTA.

I FATTI 03

So she shows the videos of the American tour.

IL VOLO San Diego

After the video, Eleonora asks if any of the three found love.
Piero asks if she has another question …..
Ignazio says it’s nice to go around and sing …..
Gianluca does not speak, only a small smile. 😁

Last message from Piero, who publicly asks all people who arrive in Sicily, to communicate to the authorities their presence and to undergo quarantine (15 days) in isolation. This is very important and they also did it when they came back from America, and it is a fundamental thing.

Eleonora thanks Piero for remembering this, then thanks and affectionately greets Piero, Gianluca and Ignazio. She then announces the event that will be tonight, a concert with the online presence of many singers including IL VOLO.

….. and what about this beautiful Ave Maria that Piero gave us yesterday?

Thanks Piero. ❤️

And what about this video posted today by Ignazio?

“I wish that together we would remember, but above all we would not forget, who will not be able to see the end. It is only a minute and a half to pray together with you, in the way I prefer.”

Soon it will end….and a hug, a caress, a kiss will be the most PRECIOUS that life gave us.

Simply ….. you are UNIQUE !!!

IL VOLO GUESTS ON DOMENICA IN by Daniela

On Sunday 22 March, IL Volo was a guest on a television program conducted by Mara Venier, DOMENICA IN.

Of course, during the C19 period, the guests were not in the recording studio, but connected via Skype, each from their own home where they are confined.

At the beginning of the connection, the wonderful images of the success of the beautiful American tour are sent on TV. Sensational images, which made goosebumps.

Mara welcomes Piero from Naro, Gianluca from Montepagano and Ignazio from Bologna. Mara thanks the boys for being connected and says that they have recently returned.

Piero confirms that they had been in America since January, have been on tour for two months and have had to cancel the last three concerts to return to Italy. He says that from there they did not realize the situation that was in Italy.

Mara asks how they learned about the serious Italian situation.

Ignazio replies that being in daily connection with their parents who were here, they knew what was going on, and made the decision to return, when it was announced that flights to and from Italy would be canceled.

They thought about the many people who are on tour with them and who have families, children at home. And they (Piero, Ignazio and Gianluca) even since their returned, have not yet seen their families, because they are in quarantine.

Mara asks who of them is with the family.

Gianluca replies (the connection with Gian is not beautiful, his voice is breaking up) that he is in quarantine with his mother, who has been with him on tour. Now he and mom are in Gian’s house, he explains that the parents’ house is bordering on his.

Gianluca explains that the virus has totally changed people’s lifestyle, the right restrictions have been put by the government, to avoid contagion, therefore Gian turns to young boys, who must understand how important it is to stay at home, because nobody is immune to this virus, in addition to the respect for the enormous work that doctors, nurses and all the rescue personnel are doing, risking their lives every day.

Mara thanks Gianluca and hopes that, although there have been audio problems, everything has been understood.

Then she says that Il Volo is very popular all over the world, therefore she considers their appeal to young people important, also because, they too are young boys.

Piero says it is the duty of those who are part of the show, and therefore has more audiences, to make their support felt in these causes. He says that when arrived in Naro, he spoke to the mayor and felt her serious concern.
Unfortunately there are people who have not understood the seriousness of the moment and try to avoid the rules.

These people, not very intelligent, have no respect for the gift of life and not even for the people who risk their own every day, to save the lives of our loved ones, especially the elderly.

Mara says it is so and thanks all three again for being in touch with her and says that they are the right people to give these messages.

Ignazio adds that, despite the inconvenience we all suffer from the virus, he realizes how much, everything that was taken for granted yesterday is actually very important, like a hug or a kiss. Today you think of it as a precious thing, a gift that life has given us.

On all the negative sides, there is always the positive to be found.

Mara says that she is experiencing this period like a nightmare. She says that until a month ago, the topic was to talk about the songs of Sanremo, and now we are experiencing all of this and when everything has passed, we will all be better people.

Then she sends the video of Piero and Jovanotti: NESSUN DORMA.

Piero says Lorenzo is number 1. To Jovanotti, Piero said that hospitals in Sicily are not well equipped, and would not be able to endure an epidemic, therefore with fellow Sicilian artists, they launched a fundraiser, with which they will buy equipment for hospitals. (remember that Gianluca and Ignazio are also supporting fundraising for hospitals in their area.)

Domenica 01

Mara thanks again Piero, Gianluca and Ignazio and recommends staying at home and wearing a medical mask.

Ignazio adds, that one must stay at home, but one must not stay still.

Mara asks Ignazio how he spends his day and Ignazio says that they are all sportsmen,  he trains, plays, sings, plays with the Playstation, then he has fun with his dog.

Gian adds that he is learning to play the piano, and then he is pampered by his mother, who is his treasure.

Mara asks Piero if he is alone or if he has his girlfriend and Piero with his hands makes the sign “zero”, and says that he has no girlfriend, he is in isolation alone, fortunately with the microwave, because he cannot cook.

Ignazio has tried several times to teach him without success, while Ignazio cooks well.

Mara asks Ignazio what he cooks, and he says that he likes to experiment with vegetables lately, since he is now vegan.

Gianluca says that he is not vegan and that he likes arrosticini very much. (Arrosticini are typically made from sheep meat, or lamb, cut in chunks and pierced by a skewer. It is cooked on a brazier with a typically elongated shape.)

Ignazio resumes the speech he had started saying that everyone must stay at home, but they must not stay still, because there are so many fundraisers to help, and therefore from home, you have to give your help and support these good things. Helping doctors and civil protection, giving what everyone can, with a small gesture anyone can be helped.

Mara thanks again Piero, Gianluca and Ignazio for this connection and sends a kiss to them. 😘😘😘

Domenica 02

PIERO AND JOVANOTTI by Daniela

In these days of quarantine, there are live videos, between our boys and their friends.

This is Piero with Jovanotti. I state that Jovanotti, (also called Jova, but his real name is Lorenzo Cherubini) is a famous Italian singer-songwriter, rapper and disc jockey.

The live is very interesting and therefore I translate roughly for you.

Friendly greetings between Piero and Jovanotti.

Piero says that he returned three days earlier from the US where Il Volo was on tour, but they did not realize from there what the situation was like in Italy.

He is now in Naro, and is in quarantine. He says that quarantine stimulates creativity, he must commit the days, the mind, he takes advantage of it to study, and read.

Jova asks where the other two are and Piero replies that everyone is at home, Gianluca is in Abruzzo and Ignazio in Bologna.

Jova asks if there is someone at home with him and Piero replies that he is alone, that he has not yet seen his parents and his sister. Piero says that in America they didn’t have the feeling of what was going on, that if you put on gloves and a medical mask, maybe you looked badly.

Piero Jova 01

Now also in the US the situation is different.

Now everyone looks to Italy, also as an example and then we receive many messages from all over the world of solidarity and we must be proud of this.
Jova asks if they were on tour and Piero replies that they were on tour since January and they have had to cancel the last three concerts.

Piero explains how fortunately they managed to return to Italy, because he says that after Trump’s speech where he said he would close all flights from Europe, and for Europe, Alitalia, sent a completely empty plane to the US to take the compatriots who wanted to return to Italy.

Jovanotti says that Italians always show the best side when there are emergencies. He says it is in these cases that Italy proves to be a united country.

He says his daughter was also in the US for study and managed to catch one of the last flights.

Piero Jova 02

Then he asks Piero if he is afraid.

Piero replies no, because he is convinced that we live in the safest country in the world, even if he admits that in Sicily, the health facilities (hospitals) are not exactly vanguard, but there are many people of good will. Therefore, by contacting some friends from Agrigento, they thought that, for now there are few cases in Sicily, but if the contagion were to come as strong as in Lombardy, the health facilities would collapse immediately.

And so he and these artists from Agrigento decided to start this fundraiser to help these hospitals. They will channel the donations to this bank account, but they will not give the money, but they will ask what the hospital needs and will buy it and give it to them. All coordinated with local authorities.

Piero says that the duty of the artists is to spread this initiative and says that today there are no records sold or concerts. Today there is only one concert, that of staying united and carrying out this great battle.

Jova greatly appreciates Piero’s speech and tells him that he is “great”. He remembers that they met quickly in a waiting room of the Catania airport and exchanged their contacts.

Then Jovanotti (who has many followers) invites everyone to follow this beautiful initiative, very important.

Then he tells Piero that he wants to hear his voice, he says that he knows that Il Volo sings all over the world bringing the Italian melody, especially the songs in Italian, and says that they are a rarity.

Piero replies that it’s nice to see Americans, even the Japanese, who get excited even if they don’t understand the words.

At this point Jovanotti asks Piero to perform the NESSUN DORMA.

Piero says that his neighbors will be tired of hearing him, as long as he always sings. Jova says they told him that the summer rental agencies have requests to rent apartments near Piero’s !!

So Piero shows the view from his balcony and Jova says it is a beautiful place, a real historical center.

Piero Jova 03

Naro

Then he tells Piero that he appreciates Il Volo, because they also love to joke and play down their image, also lending themselves to slightly different interviews, such as the one they did with Fiorello, proposing Il Volo in a rock version.

Piero confirms that they try to bring the message of bel canto to the younger generation too.

Jova asks if they have ever sung in China and Piero confirms yes, in 2015, the year of the dog. Then they do a search and discover that when Piero was born, it was the year of the rooster, then they try, laughing, to make a symphonic version of Jova’s song.

A message from Fiorello arrives (on their video) and recalls a Sicilian song and immediately Piero sings a piece of it. Jova is not Sicilian and does not understand the meaning, so he asks Piero who tells him to ask Fiorello. (It has a mischievous meaning, that’s why Piero replies like this.)

There is also a message from Ignazio saying that they have abandoned him. Jova says no and asks where Ignazio is, Piero replies that he is in Bologna and that due to the jet lag he cannot sleep

So they talk about the importance of sleep to have a rested and fresh voice before the concerts, and Piero also recommends eating apples, and also cold water.

Jovanotti asks Piero if he ever met Pavarotti and Piero says that he missed by two years before their start as Il Volo.

(In this 2013 video there are Pavarotti and Jovanotti in a song by Jova, during “Pavarotti and friends.”)

So they talk about the performances on people’s balconies, these days, and confirm that it is the most beautiful thing, that those videos have gone around the world and that everyone imitates us for this, because it is the most beautiful thing in the world.

Piero tells Jova, that his dad, when he had the auto bodywork shop, put him on the hood of customers’ cars and had him sing UN AMORE COSÌ GRANDE and GRANADA.

Jova says that he is almost 54 years old, Piero’s dad, Gaetano, is only two years older.

Piero says that La Boheme is his favorite opera and Jova says he saw it a year ago at the Metropolitan.

Then Piero sings a piece of the Cavalleria Rusticana.

Piero confirms that he is studying to do an opera, but it takes months and months of study and tries to do lessons via skype with his teacher from Bologna.

Jovanotti tells him that when he debuts at the opera, he wants to be there, then asks if Gaetano wanted to be a singer, and Piero says no, but his grandfather was sincerely sought for singing and says that he and his grandfather have the same voice and he tells how his grandfather noticed his potential.

So Piero tells of the economic difficulties that his father has suffered, in order to take him to various competitions or singing lessons, and Jovanotti says they seem like stories from centuries ago, instead they are recent and very beautiful stories and Piero says that Ignazio and Gianluca also have similar stories.

Jovanotti concludes that now that everyone has time, they must use it to rediscover many things that are not done during busy days.

Then they say goodbye with affection.

Piero has also made specific messages to persuade people to collaborate to raise funds for hospitals in Sicily in the Agrigento area.

Also together with other Sicilian artists.

This is the link to support hospitals.

Go Fund Me Link – Click Here

Congratulations Piero, your commitment in this case is honorable.

We are confident that you will succeed in your fundraising goal and your healthcare equipment will be donated to hospitals.

Thanks for your effort, you are my sweetheart. ❤️

PIERO, IGNAZIO AND GIANLUCA IN QUARANTINE by Daniela

As you all know, Piero, Ignazio and Gianluca quickly returned to Italy. But maybe not everyone, especially those who don’t have Facebook, knows where the guys are now.

The three, are scattered around Italy, one in the north, one in the center and one in the south.

Let’s start with Piero.

As we read from his words, Piero returned to Sicily, to his Naro, but did not return to the family. To preserve his health and the health of his loved ones, Piero has self-isolated himself in his apartment (which is close to that of his parents), and has no physical contact with them. He has self-declared (as is expected here) and is observing a quarantine, isolated from all.

Piero made a video call with his friend Mariano Di Vaio, whom the boys had met in Miami.

Here it is and I will roughly translate it for you.

First thing, we all notice, Piero’s new beard cut …… I don’t like it !!! 😑

Mariano also makes fun of Piero for doing this new shave and leaving his mustache like this, and laughing. Piero said he did it alone (of course). He was inspired by the Narcos telefilm, where there is a sheriff, and was inspired by him.

Piero says he’s been in quarantine for two days and already doesn’t know what to do. Mariano says he’s been four days and it feels like a month (he also has a wife and 3 children).

Piero shows that he also tried to cut his hair, with the result that he almost peeled one side. (disaster)

He says he saw a video of a fairly well-known singer in Miami, who was in the disco without worries. 😲

Piero

(Thank you Judy Thurman for this nice collage!)

Di Vaio, confirming that he spoke with friends in Miami when the alarm went up, but people still do not realize the big problem of C19.

To pass the time, Piero watches TV, then has tools to train with, takes virtual lessons with his personal trainer.

Piero says that he would have liked to stay at home with his parents and sister, however, he is alone and the policemen come every day to check that he is at home, in isolation, because having been away, he does not know if he may have contracted the virus, and therefore, rightly so.

But Piero, what did you do, right now that hair was starting to grow back!!

Quar 01

Climbing up, from the boot, we arrive in central Italy, Montepagano ….. Gianluca.

Gianluca was traveling, accompanied by his mother Eleonora. They returned home, but not to their parents’ house, but to Gianluca’s house, to be isolated from Ercole and Ernesto. Gianluca lives close to his parents, but they still couldn’t hug each other. They too are in isolation.

Gianluca provides us with many moments of his day and his beautiful home.

In this video, Gianluca says that in quarantine they are all becoming incredible chefs.
He too, who has never cooked in his life, made an amazing banana dessert.

Then Gian also practices playing the piano.

Bravo Gianluca !!

And he trains in his small gym.
Do not overdo it!

Quar 02

Instead, mother Eleonora sends us this photo of Ernesto beyond the railing of the window. On the photo it says: “Love at a distance, soon we will embrace each other again.”

Quar 03

We continue in the ascent of Italy, and we arrive in the north, in Bologna, where Ignazio is.

Ignazio returned to Bologna, where he has his apartment and where his sister Nina was, who was already waiting for him in solitary confinement.

The situation in Bologna is much more serious than in Sicily or Abruzzo.

Ignazio has a long phone call with his friend Fabio Ingrassia, which I translate briefly for you.

Immediately Fabio asks Ignazio if he has bought the new earring, and Ignazio affirms and shows it to him, then asks Ignazio, how is the first day of quarantine and Ignazio answers: Arturo, television and one meter from his sister Nina. Fabio tells him that in Marsala (where Fabio is) there are two new cases of C19.

Nina cooks, and Ignazio confirms that he is now vegan. He also shows a pizza that his sister made him on his arrival, heart-shaped and with vegan foods.

An exchange of ideas was born with Fabio who says that he eats real meat and Ignazio tells him that he is only a skeptic.

A message arrives from Gianluca, who is following their live, and  he says that in Abruzzo they will create vegan arrosticini (typical food made with meat) for Ignazio.

Quar 04

Fabio reports that friends in Miami have said that the C19 is spreading and both say that it was not taken seriously there.

While chatting, Ignazio comes to a contact with Red Ronnie, who asks him where he is and Ignazio confirms that he is in Bologna.

So they talk about the hospital in Marsala, to which Fabio made a donation and Ignazio also confirms that he will do it too and therefore communicates the data for the hospital.

They talk about Ignazio’s guitars that he brought to Bologna, and he admits that he is training.

Every now and then Ignazio has sweet tenderness with his beloved Arturo.

Then Ignazio and Fabio experiment with chords and songs simultaneously with their guitars.

Ignazio asks Arturo what song he wants to hear ….

Arturo stretched over Ignazio and he says to him: “Do you want to rest a bit? I am dad, not a sofa!”

Quar 05

So the first quarantine days of IL VOLO have passed, but there are many days to pass, but the important thing is that they are safe.

Here in Italy, the situation has worsened and I think the boys were shocked on their return.

But even this period will pass.

I also recommend to you, American friends, stay safe!
