MÀKARI by Daniela

Life is like a book, there are beautiful pages and less beautiful pages, and now we turn the page on the events that have just passed and we hope to always find positive pages.
In fact good news is coming and it’s called MÀKARI.

On the evening of Sanremo I was waiting impatiently for the arrival of Il Volo on TV, advertising promos were passing and one concerned an upcoming 4-episode television miniseries. I was not paying attention, but something immediately attracted me ….. the beautiful and unmistakable voice of Ignazio !!!
Immediately on the web, the rumors of other fans circulated who had the same thought and here it is, it is him, Ignazio.
But what is Màkari? Is the fiction in 4 episodes, deals with the works of Gaetano Savatteri (Sicilian writer) set between the Zingaro Nature Reserve and Baia Santa Margherita, (Trapani area)
Plot: The series of 4 yellow novels, stars Saverio Lamanna, writer by vocation and detective by chance. During the four evenings, Saverio engages in investigations into murders, disappearances and mysteries that bloody his land.
But here’s the promo that aired just before their performance in Sanremo.
And here is the explanation of MÀKARI from the voice of Il Volo, yes because the theme song will be sung by Il Volo, but  the song is written by Ignazio.
This is the video of the remote press conference of Il Volo on the Màkari project.

IGNAZIO = Let’s say it is a Sicily told by a twenty-five year old who lived Sicily, through stories, through images. Màkari  is a landscape that I experience every summer, because I have many friends in S. Vito lo Capo and every summer I take the opportunity to return to this land.
It is a song that tells about my Sicily, land of sages, land of fools, made of devils and saints, but I have also seen some images from the series and this series is also about love, which is something that I love, love combined with yellow (they are detective stories).
It is a song linked to traditions, from how it speaks, and for us, at least for me who wrote it, it is an honor to tell about my Sicily through a fiction that tells the truth of this Sicily.
In days it will be available on all platforms, for those who want to listen to it. Sony is working to make it available on all platforms.

Ignazio

GIANLUCA = I also have a great passion for acting, so, hoping one day to undertake this journey as well, I wanted to congratulate all the actors.
We got to see some small parts, so I was also happy to be able to preview some parts of this fiction that we will all watch. We can’t wait, I have anxiety waiting for this moment, so I renew my congratulations to everyone for this great project and we are delighted to be part of it.

Gianluca

PIERO = I am very happy, but all three of us are, to have married this project. In fact, Gianluca and I are very proud of Ignazio, of the work he did in this song, and it was exciting to record a song by Ignazio in the recording studio, to hear it in the commercial, every time it is exciting.
We wanted to thank Carlo degli Esposti, Marco Cingoli and Luigi Pinto for choosing us, it’s not something to be taken for granted. (a little taste of the fiction and the beautiful song follows,)

Piero

In the final piece of the video there is a small verse of the song, which is accompanied by a classical guitar. Ignazio sings.
The text is in Italian with a few words in Sicilian, here’s what it says:
“Sing louder but do it in silence, because no one here hears and sees us, but Makari is home is joy is love. I don’t forget Màkari anymore.
Chista è na storia nu pocu curiosa nu pocu scuntrusa mi parla di amuri (Sicilian dialect = This is the story a little curious, a little grumpy, it speaks to me of love.)
For the traditions, for my roots, Màkari is home and the heart sings for you.”

One more thing to be very proud of these guys.
A nice surprise, no one expected this gift.
Ignazio, you are fantastic, your talent as a composer has finally found the right launch, and it can be heard and tasted by many people, who will surely love it.
Once again I am very proud of you, once again you have shown that you are united and great.
Your talent knows no bounds.
I look forward to hearing the whole beautiful song.

BOIN ~ The Little Band-aid by Susan

When I heard the sad news on Monday that Ignazio’s father passed away, I was shocked! It was so sudden. And of course, I immediately thought about Ignazio and his family and my heart went out to them.
Life is so short and, just when it seems all is right, it’s over! It doesn’t always happen that way but when it does, it creates a silence in us that is almost deafening. Everything goes away and sorrow takes its place!  There’s no trying to explain it. If we could, we would know the secret of life. So, we try to do what we can to help the people we love. And that’s what Fabio did!
When I saw the Heart on BOIN, I thought about Ignazio and Fabio. They have been friends since they were teenagers. I’m sure Fabio was hurting for his friend. He was feeling Ignazio’s pain.  I believe Fabio needed to do something. And he did what he does best, he expressed his feelings in art.

Illustration of a red heart with two band-aids criss-crossed

Look up! That’s Ignazio’s heart. Fabio drew it and then he noticed there was a break in it and, he felt the pain. He immediately drew a Little Band-aid and said, “God please help my friend, he’s in pain!” And for a few moments, Ignazio’s pain was alleviated. Then he thought, the pain will come back and he still will be very sad. Maybe some friends can cheer him up! So, he sent that beautiful Heart to all of us. What was touching about the Heart was the Little Band-aid in the middle. It spoke volumes! It said my, friend, Ignazio is in pain and he is very sad.
I understood what needed to be done! I took the Heart with the Little Band-aid and I sent it with a message to Ignazio friends, you, the fans to let you know he needed our help! And suddenly the break in the Heart began to close. The Little Band-aids were helping the pain.
The space in Ignazio’s heart was rapidly filling with beautiful
expressions of love to comfort him in his time of sorrow.
We are at his side, in prayer, and we will remain with
him for as long as he needs us!
Yes, the Little Band-aids are there but, you can’t see them. They’re invisible! They’re called Words!
When all of you received the message, you immediately responded!  This has been going on for days! Even, now, messages are coming in from around the world on Facebook, Messenger and Instagram! Not hundreds, not thousands but, tens of thousands!  And that’s just what came to me! Messages expressing condolences, sympathy, prayers!  Please send our Condolences to Ignazio and his family. Please send our deepest Sympathy to the family. Please let Ignazio know “we are praying for the family.”
All those tens of thousands of Little Band-aids you sent, they are there on Ignazio’s Heart and they are easing the pain.
We found out Ignazio is a Lion, a very courageous young man. Just listen to his very emotional performance of “Your Love” at Sanremo. Vito that was for you! Amazing strength!  And I must say some of that courage and strength came from all of you.  Remember those six little words you said?  “We are praying for the family!” They gave Ignazio the strength and courage to follow a path he never followed before. Your prayers were with him all the way.
But what will happen with the Little Band-aids? Will they ever go away? Soon, soon the pain will begin to subside and, the Little Band-aids will take on a new role. They will become Memories which Ignazio will store away for those days when he is sad and needs some comfort. Then he will reach into his beautiful head and pull out a wonderful memory!
Now, Ignazio has become the man of the house and we know he will be “a rock” for those beautiful ladies, mom Caterina and sister, Nina!
I would love to be able to reply to all of you, personally, to thank you for all those, beautiful expression of love, which were so important to Ignazio and his family. The fans are an important part of Ignazio’s life. I’ve come to know many of you personally. You are Ignazio’s family and my family because we are all one family, the Il Volo family. And I know Ignazio appreciates what each and every one of you did for him this week. The time you took to write your words of love and all your prayers for his family. He will hold them in his heart forever.
Yesterday, Vito was laid to rest! More than ever the family needs your prayers! Please continue to keep Ignazio close to your heart and in your prayers!
I want to thank Fabio for sending us Ignazio’s Heart so we could alleviate some of the pain and share our love with him.

Sanremo ~ A Tribute but, to Whom? by Susan

If Sanremo was meant to be a tribute to Ennio Morricone it certainly didn’t turn out that way.
When the guys walked out on stage it was to do a tribute to Ennio Morricone but, when they walked off the stage, they had given the most amazing tribute to Vito Boschetto.
Ennio
I can’t even imagine how they got through that very touching song. So appropriate! If Ignazio wanted to tell his father how he felt, he certainly couldn’t have said it better than with that song.
You could feel the emotion! You could feel the support for Ignazio!  Many times, Ignazio had to hold back tears but, so did Gianluca! If ever there was a question of how these guys feel about each other, the question was answered at Sanremo. True brothers!

Isn’t it fitting that they began their wonderful journey on the Ariston stage and, they showed their true love for each other on that same stage? These three, amazing, young men poured out their hearts for the love of Vito.  And Gianluca and Piero showed their love for Ignazio in their support for him in one of the most difficult times in his life. These guys are so strong for one another!
Ignazio is a, true, showmen! He knew the show must go on! And he knew that’s how his father would want it to be! No question this was a very difficult decision for Ignazio to make but, he knew there was only one answer. Yes, the show must go on! And when it did it was with such dignity, that it left us all speechless. Every performance they give is exceptional but when it’s also emotional it goes to another level.  I don’t know about the rest of you but, I was in tears.

We have to remember these young men have been together for 11 years and so have their families. So, the loss goes beyond Ignazio because Gianluca and Piero are also his family. They were teenagers when they came together and, they are used to having each other’s parents traveling with them. They traveled for very long periods of time with Mr. Boschetto. He was a part of the Il Volo family so it’s only natural that they are also feeling the loss.

Vito you will be missed by your family but, you will also be missed by your Il Volo family with whom you shared many wonderful moments! And, the Il Volo fans, will miss you too!

Ignazio you made your father very proud. His love will always shine in your heart!

Your Love (Once Upon A Time In The West)

Ennio Morricone

I woke and you were there
Beside me in the night
You touched me and calmed my fear
Turned darkness into light

I woke and saw you there
Beside me as before
My heart leapt to find you near
To feel you close once more
To feel your love once more

Your strength has made me strong
Though life tore us apart
And now when the night seems long
Your love shines in my heart
Your love shines in my heart

YOUR LOVE – SANREMO 2021 by Daniela

Despite the sad event that hit the Boschetto family, IL VOLO confirmed its presence in Sanremo.
It will certainly not be easy for our boys, and in particular, obviously for Ignazio, the sad loss is so close.

The various Italian newspapers have given the news, and I propose to you this one from Il Quotidiano.net

SANREMO 2021: Unforgettable Morricone. The song of Il Volo for dad Vito.

On stage at the Festival for dad Vito, who would have liked to hear him once again on that stage. After a short illness, Ignazio Boschetto’s father from Il Volo died last Sunday in Bologna, but tonight the trio will still be on the stage of the Ariston with his homage to Morricone, under the orchestral direction of his son Andrea, to collect the (virtual) applause of the publication of  this 71st edition.
Due to the Coronavirus, this year the Sanremo Festival will take place without an audience and with strict controls at the entrance of the singers in the theater. Inside, an uncontaminated environment has been created that must be kept as such by everyone. Before entering, each singer will have to measure their fever, have a mask and show a badge that will declare the result of the swab (test) performed.
And here Ignazio, Piero and Gianluca on their arrival at the Ariston theater.

IL VOLO arriving at the Ariston Theater – Click Here

MAN = Il Volo is coming, immediately the line to you!
WOMAN = Exactly, you can see live the controls of Il Volo, which at this moment are detecting the body temperature and then there is the screening of their pass.
(Piero and Gianluca arrive)
Temperature ok? You also have the negative test of course.
MAN= Can you give Ignazio a greeting and a hug from me?
PIERO = Here he is.
WOMAN = Ignazio is coming too, obviously we need to do the checks.
PIERO = (Ignazio arrives) They greet you from the study.
IGNAZIO = Hello
WOMAN = (to Ignazio) A hug from Alberto (man)
MAN = A hug to you three, are you excited for tonight?
PIERO = A lot, a lot. We are very excited.
GIANLUCA = It will be an honor for us to be able to pay homage to the greatest composer and artist, perhaps of all time, the great maestro Ennio Morricone, therefore, we will give our best.
WOMAN = I can say that in here they can take off the mask.
PIERO = But ……
WOMAN = You prefer to keep it, ok!
MAN = Let’s have a big “good luck” we look forward to Il Volo tonight on the Sanremo stage.
Guys, I hug you, hello Ignazio, my friend! See you tonight. (It is evident that the man sent messages of affection and closeness to Ignazio).
We are all in great expectation, we want to hear and see our dear guys, especially after all the bad times they are going through, especially for Ignazio and his family.
The tribute to Maestro Morricone began with a solo by the trumpeter, Nello Salza, who performed “The Good the Bad and the Ugly” and the musical performance of the orchestra which, led by Morricone’s son, Andrea, performed “Metti una sera a cena” (Put a night in dinner).
And here we are at their moment, I had great tension and emotion in listening, they deeply moved me, they performed YOUR LOVE, taken from the film “Once Upon a Time in the West”.
MAGNIFICENT!
Chills on the skin, pure emotion.
Amazing how Gianluca first, and then Piero, touch Ignazio to instill their closeness.
Ignazio starts the song by singing with his eyes closed and at the end of it he wipes his eyes. ❤
Incredible voices!

But here’s what was said.
AMADEUS = And now YOUR LOVE, which will see the extraordinary participation of IL Volo.
(the song begins, Andrea Morricone conducts the orchestra)
AMADEUS = Il Volo in Sanremo 2021.
I put myself between you so I give you a microphone to speak.
Thank you guys for being here, not only obviously from the Morricone family, but from the whole audience of the festival, even in an obviously difficult moment (he puts his hand on Ignazio’s shoulder to make it clear that it is a difficult moment for Ignazio ).
We are happy that you are here.
GIANLUCA + PIERO = Thank you.
IGNAZIO = Grazie mille.
AMADEUS = You are three much loved boys.
This evening is a special evening, because it is also the evening of the Italian voices that make Italian music known in the world, before you here there was , Laura Pausini, now you, and I think this is a satisfaction, also a pride, a considerable responsibility.
IGNAZIO=  It has always been our goal, since the first day we walked this stage, because we were born on this stage (Ti lascio una canzone)
AMADEUS = Let’s take a step forward and go in front of the microphones.
IGNAZIO = For us this evening was a great emotion, because for us Maestro Morricone means a lot, he is a symbol of Italy in the world, and for us to be able to remember him, to be able to start this project on this stage, with the great maestro Andrea Morricone it is an honor. (Andrea sends a kiss)
AMADEUS = There is a project that you rightly remember, on June 21 (maybe it’s a mistake because it’s June 5) you are planning a great concert dedicated to master Morricone, right?
PIERO = That’s right, we are working on this recording project, dedicated entirely to maestro Ennio Morricone, and we wanted to thank maestro Andrea Morricone and all his family, for their trust and support in this project we are working on.
AMADEUS = It’s Il Volo’s tribute.
GIANLUCA = Yes, it is a very accurate choice of songs, because we will sing soundtracks in both English and Italian from Once Upon a Time in America, to Nuovo Cinema Paradiso. We can’t wait to start this new journey, thank you very much again. (addressed to Maestro Andrea Morricone)

AMADEUS = And it will be yet another journey that will lead them to appreciate the music, in this case of Maestro Morricone, all over the world, as always. When there is Il Volo this happens. Il Volo in Sanremo. Thanks guys, thanks.
G + I + P = Thanks, see you soon.
AMADEUS = Thanks to maestro Andrea Morricone, thanks.

It was a great performance, the voices were wonderful, they touched me deeply.
I seemed to sense deep emotion also in Gianluca, Ignazio very tight and tired, Piero emotionally the strongest.

Always impeccable and suitable for various occasions.

After the performance, they went to a side room  for an interviewed by Rai Radio2 and the critic Gastaldo, who always gave them very low marks in Sanremo where they were as competitors.
I don’t translate everything, because they are already known, but this time Gastaldo tipped his hat to pay homage to the master Morricone. Then Il Volo confirmed the June event saying that there will also be televisions from America and Japan to televise the event. Finally they said that their CD entirely dedicated to Morricone will be released and that they hope to return to America towards the end of 2022.

The comments of some newspapers, of which I give you a brief overview..

IL MESSAGGERO

Now the three tenors represent an Italian pride in the world, and in this capacity they are guests at the 71st Italian song festival. So much emotion during their performance, a performance that certainly represented for the three also a dedication to Ignazio’s father, who died too soon. Strong the warmth of the social networks to surround them during the performance: many appreciate the decision not to give up their expected participation in the Ariston, a presence that, given the conditions, deeply moved the fans and the whole audience.

ANSA.IT

After the emotion of Laura Pausini, the Sanremo Festival takes off on the notes of Ennio Morricone. The homage to the maestro is entrusted to the trumpeter Nello Salza, who plays the theme of “The Good, the Bad and the Ugly”, to his son Andrea Morricone who conducts the orchestra in “Metti una sera a cena” (Put a night in dinner), to the voices of Volo , in a preview of the concert event, scheduled for June, ‘Il Volo tribute to Ennio Morricone’.
“I am happy that you are here, even if in a very difficult moment – says Amadeus, ideally clinging to Ignazio Boschetto who has just lost his father – in an evening dedicated to the great Italian music in the world”.

Left to right: Gianluca, Ignazion and Piero on the Ariston stage

OF HER

IL Volo – Ennio Morricone is great, we love him, and Il Volo proves to be up to par in paying homage to him. Conducting the Sanremo orchestra is the son of the great master and the emotion is great. Piero Barone, Ignazio Boschetto and Gianluca Ginoble give us one of the most exciting moments of the second evening of Sanremo 2021.

Left to right: Gianluca, Ignazion and Piero singing on the Ariston stage

And finally a comment from the critic Monina, who has always spoken ill of our boys, but did not know them.
During Sanremo 2019 he met them and changed his mind, on them, on their skill.
Here’s what he wrote about them.
IL VOLO – voted a 9 rating
Now, I don’t think I am exactly the best person to point out that in the world the Italian music that is recognized as such is not that of Pausini, but that which has its roots in our remote past, which flirts with the arias, which marries important melodies, the Bel Canto, to put it in a couple of words that summarize what there is to be summarized. But so much so, and it is quite clear to many that in the world these three boys have made their way precisely by virtue of their being solidly good and equally solidly healthy carriers of those instances that see us as Verdi’s children, Puccini but also di Caruso and so on. I am not the most suitable person, because I usually deal with other things, but I believe that this truth must be recognized once and for all, and today more than ever. They were good at paying homage to the maestro Morricone, but more than anything else they are good and that’s it.  (how to say they are indisputably good)

Left to right: Gianluca, host Amadeus, Ignazion and Piero on the Ariston stage

Ok, there were some nice comments, but honestly, after such a beautiful and exciting performance, I expected a lot more from the Italian press, luckily, someone, like Monina, is recognizing their artistic value.
It doesn’t matter guys, people are with you, we all recognize your value, your indisputable skill, your great elegance and professionalism, for having been there despite everything.
The audience, ordinary and non-ordinary people, bow to you and are proud of you.
The road ahead of you is not easy, it never has been, but you have always shown us that you can overcome obstacles, with strength, will, hard work.
Keep it up, we love you. ❤️❤️❤️

THE SAD NEWS by Daniela

The line of life, unfortunately, also inevitably crosses with death.
On February 28, Vito Boschetto, beloved father of our dear Ignazio, died at the age of 60.

Ignazio hugging his dad, Vito

The sad announcement was made today, March 1st.
I will translate it for you.

Itacanotizie Article – Click Here

Vito Boschetto, father of Ignazio de Il Volo, has died.
Vito Boschetto, father of Ignazio, Marsala singer of Il Volo, together with Piero Barone and Gianluca Ginoble, died on the evening of Sunday 28 February. The man died in Bologna, where his son lives, due to a sudden illness that left him no way out.
Married to Caterina Licari, Vito also has an eldest daughter, Nina, who ran a pizzeria for years. A close-knit family that has always supported their son far and wide throughout Italy, making him study until the success obtained with the broadcast “Ti lascio una canzone” on Rai Uno with the conduction of Antonella Clerici, aimed at the discovery of children’s talents. It is there that Ignazio Boschetto met the other two “tenorini” Piero and Gianluca with whom he will form Il Volo, which achieved worldwide success.
On March 3 Il Volo should perform on the stage of the 71st Sanremo Festival. But confirmations are expected after this tragic news.

Ignazio with his Dad, Vito

Covid has nothing to do with it, it was a tumor, recently discovered, but unfortunately in an advanced state, which left Vito no chance for a regression.
I do not dare to think of the infinite pain of Ignatius who, we remember, did a good part of his travels and stayed abroad accompanied by his beloved father.

Vito Boschetto

Unfortunately, the harsh reality is this and Ignazio, already shy enough for personal news, lived this last period of his father’s life, without divulging the news, living the pain together with his family, his mother Caterina and his sister Nina.

Left to right: Vito Boschetto, son Ignazio and wife, Caterina Licari

The Il Volo family also gathered around Ignazio and his family, but could only watch the events helplessly.
Gianluca today published a series of their photos and the last photo represents Il Volo in a moment of meditation, with Ignazio looking up.
Left to right: Gianluca, Ignazio and PIero on stage. The message is SEMPRE UNITI - ALWAYS TOGETHER
ALWAYS TOGETHER. What can best represent the three of them, in every moment of life, even the saddest, ALWAYS TOGETHER.

Caterina Licari and husband Vito Boschetto

Dear Ignazio, you are always so cheerful, so joyful, but now you have the agony in your heart, your dear dad is gone.
We Volovers hold you in a long affectionate embrace around you and your mother Caterina and your sister Nina.
Our prayers reach Vito who from above will guide you in your life, proud of you.
No words can be of comfort to you, but all our affection reaches you from the depths of our hearts.
A big hug: Il Volo Flight Crew

R.I.P.

Vito Boschetto

The Flight Crew staff with all the fans will try to deliver to Ignazio and his family a floral message of deep condolences and affection.
