SEAT MUSIC AWARDS 2020 by Daniela

Since this year there will be no other concerts of IL Volo, I was waiting with a little anxiety in front of the TV, to be able to see our beloved ones, live from the Verona Arena, on this beautiful evening in early September.

SEAT 01

Already the first short videos, and photos of yesterday’s rehearsals, sent our hearts in arousal. 💓

I believe that Ignazio, Gianluca and Piero were also excited, to be back on stage, and also because the Arena always has its own charm.

We should have been there for the concert a few days ago, instead we have to settle for this performance, unfortunately due to virus.

In the video, Gianluca says, “We have just arrived for the rehearsals, the three microphone stands are already in position.”

(But how beautiful are Piero, Gianluca and Ignazio?)

I= (he says to Piero) What are you doing?

P = I look at you.

I = Damn!! What a great light there is.

G = Beautiful right?

I = A wonderful light. Gorgeous, gorgeous.

SEAT 02

SEAT 03

SEAT 04

I believe that you have all noticed that the need for spacing has caused all the seats to be removed from the rows on the ground. In this way a large stage has been set up in the center of the Arena (which is usually leaning against the steps). The little public that will be admitted will be all around on the steps and well spaced. Only in this way could the show be done. Of course, the impact is very different, but let’s be satisfied ….. even if I have to say that having the central stage is really very nice: “Guys, use it also in your concert!!”

SEAT 05

SEAT 06

SEAT 07

Gianluca = “See you tonight at the Verona Arena, on RAI1 official!”

SEAT 08

Ignazio = “Finally we start again!”

SEAT 09

Piero = “Tonight we will sing on one of the stages that is most dear to us, that of the Verona Arena, for us it is always an honor to be there. See you in the Arena or in prime time on Rai 1!”

The boys were also interviewed by SEAT, sponsor of the evening.

Woman = We are here with Il Volo. I know that you have an international audience and therefore you know very well how much is missing from performing live on a global level, but above all you have defined the stage, your natural element, so how is it for you tonight, to go back to performing live?

I = It’s like giving candy to a child!

We are very happy because we were missing a live performance.

We missed it, a lot, but not only for our personal reasons, this is a message that the music is restarting …. slowly, slowly, with the safety measures, but we are starting again. All Italian music is starting to hit the stage again, and we hope it can be a message of hope, also for all emerging bands in the various cities, who want to start or continue making music. We hope it bodes well for a 2021 full of live concerts.

Woman = Thanks a lot, guys, see you on stage.

I + P + G = Hello, see you later.

SEAT 10

Piero, Ignazio and Gianluca were also interviewed by Radio Italia, here’s what they said.

Radio Italia = It was instead a relaxing summer for the three guys from Il Volo, who had to cancel their concerts initially scheduled: “We had time to rest, relax and sunbathe. Now we will commit ourselves to making music,” they told live on Radio Italia. For the trio, however, it is not the first live in compliance with all the containment measures: “We did a concert in Montecarlo and it was strange: between darkness and masks, you don’t understand people’s expressions,” said Ignazio, who he also wanted to send out a message of hope: “The music must restart,” he exclaimed to our microphones. “We will definitely be back in 2021, in compliance with the rules. We will continue to celebrate 10 years of career,” Piero then reiterated. The three boys, very young, finally invited all their peers to behave responsibly, to protect themselves and others.

SEAT 12

And here we are finally at the evening.

How much emotion …….. I am sitting comfortably on the sofa with my husband and we are waiting for the long preview to end ……… and finally ….

HERE THEY ARE ……. IL VOLO ❤️❤️❤️!!!

I = 2020 will be remembered as the year the world was forced to turn off.

G = For all show workers, the verb to turn off corresponds to the end of the show, when the curtain falls and silence is the wait for the next show.

But this time the wait lasted longer than expected and silence was inevitable.

P = Now the world is preparing to start again.

Now is the time to raise the curtain.

Now, let’s turn on the music.

NESSUN DORMA

Conti = Il Volo

Vanessa = What a moment you made us live, what can we tell you?

Conti = Thanks guys.

G = Good evening everyone.

Conti = I must say: You are always better!

Vanessa = Guys we were, Carlo (Conti) and I, in silence looking at you, with goosebumps, good!!
Of course for Puccini’s Turandot, but also for what you said at the beginning.

I = Yes, it is a doubly exciting moment, because we have been standing still for some months, with music on the stages. There is music on social media, but on the stage it is a different emotion, and especially it was a great emotion to remember all those who unfortunately left us, due to this Covid.

It was dedicated to them. My thoughts go to them and all their families.

Conti = You three are wonderful stars who travel the world and bring Italian music up in the world.

Vanessa = Singing live, of course you miss it, but what do you expect from this future?

G = Here I read a billboard that says: “Not even a pandemic will stop the music,” that’s the point.

This year’s motto is let’s turn the music back on, but in truth, the music has never turned off, and it has kept us company all these months. As Ignazio said, especially for us, it is our job and we missed it a lot, not being able to sing for all of you. Sooner or later we will start again, we will go back to singing in concerts, which are a way to escape from the world, two hours of joy and tears.

Vanessa = For you and the entire audience, it’s obvious.

P = When we leave the house, our fans often ask us when the concerts will resume.
We want to say that this is an evening of hope, and to tell everyone that in 2021, in any way, we will return to the stage.

Vanessa = Good.

Conti = You were supposed to be here just a week ago in concert, instead it’s postponed. It’s just, all just postponed, but we’ll be back. Thanks, Gianluca, thanks Piero, thanks Ignazio.

Vanessa = Thanks for being here with us.

G = (addressed to the audience) We love you.

G+P+I = Bye!!

Conti = Great protagonists of this evening, they had the task of starting the official part.

SEAT 13

SEAT 14

What skill, what elegance, what beautiful words!!

And what about the final high note? They kept it very long ….. congratulations guys!!! My husband and I looked at each other in amazement, that final VINCERÒ was amazing ….. they never stopped emitting their voices ….. great !!!

Only one song, unfortunately.

There are many singers who perform and I remember that they all sing for free, and that the evening was a fundraiser, to support the families of the show workers who have not worked for months and are without salary.

The audience of the Arena, standing for Il Volo.

And here is Piero, Ignazio and Gianluca, visibly happy after their performance, for a small video for the Arena.

I = We send a big greeting and a big “good luck” to arenalive.it.
See you soon, we hope to start again, the music has to start again.

I + G + P = Bye

SEAT 21

SEAT 19

But it’s not over yet ….. when everyone finished their performances, Seat Music Awards, showed a beautiful video in homage to Il Volo, as the final theme, and on the beautiful music of GRANDE AMORE, the final titles flowed.

What can I say, when the NESSUN DORMA ended, I was literally speechless, unique emotion and endless chills.

Ignazio, Gianluca and Piero were impeccable for execution, and for their messages and elegance.

Great pride for us fans.

While they sang, I was chatting with my Italian friends and also with:
Pat = Missouri
Susan = New York
Ineke = South Africa
Albertine = Holland
Who else can unite us like this?

Only them – IL VOLO ❤️❤️❤️

I will wait to send the next post, because Il Volo today, Sunday, will still be in the Arena for another link.

But in the meantime, let’s also enjoy this short close-up video of our beloved boys!!

LUCA MAGGITTI INTERVIEWS GIANLUCA GINOBLE by Daniela

A pleasant interview with Gianluca Ginoble, made by the journalist: Luca Maggitti.

The occasion was the ABBA Immobiliare event, for the presentation of their construction project LUXURY ESTATE which will be carried out in Roseto degli Abruzzi.

LUCA 01

A nice dinner on a summer evening with a touch of rain. The event was cheered by some guests, including our Gianluca.

The video begins with the performance of a good violinist with CON TE PARTIRÒ (Time to Say Goodbye) performed among the tables of the guests.

I translate for you.

LM = On stage with me, the winner of Sanremo 2015 with Il Volo: Gianluca Ginoble.

GG = Good evening

LM = These drops (drizzle), remind me of a passage from a book that says that Mexican nobles love to sleep outdoors with the drops of water that wet their sheets in the summer.

GG = The perfect soundtrack. The sound of nature.

LM = Singing in the rain.

GG = Singing in the rain. Wet evening, lucky evening (it’s an old Italian saying).

LUCA 02

LM = You are truly an international artist, you have been on exceptional stages. A memory … when I saw you taking a selfie with Pope Francis in Panama, remind me how many there were, how many you were.

GG = Maybe it was one of the best experiences ….. but you know that I don’t like to always talk about myself. This is a special evening and first of all I want to greet everyone, even ABBA Immobiliare and all of you, I am really happy and honored to be here, and thanks for the affection you have shown me also in these last weeks where we have had the opportunity to be together.

LM = But they want to hear about you.

GG = Yes, of course, let’s say that during my artistic career, it is now 11 years that I “fly” with my colleagues.

LM = You have been on a world tour for 11 years without stopping, COVID has stopped you, otherwise you would be doing the eleventh year of touring.

GG = Unfortunately, Covid has stopped everyone, there is no alternative and in any case health is the most important thing.
Surely one of the most beautiful experiences was to sing for the Pope, one meter from Pope Francis, a Ave Maria Mater Misericordiae written especially for us. There were thousands of young people, it was WYD.

LM =Eight hundred thousand young people?

GG = You added three hundred thousand more …..

LM = But do you realize how many young people ….. and then you go there and say “Francis, let’s take a selfie?”

GG = It was nice, because the Pope is always very helpful, we had the opportunity to meet him also during the private audience, and that day we said “Can we take a selfie like young people do?” And he said “Sure.”

LUCA 03

LM = Then I have an Argentine national volleyball guest and I keep you here, as you also speak Spanish and I don’t.

GG = Okay.

LM = You also sang for two Presidents of the Italian Republic, in the Senate there was Napolitano and in Trieste, for the unification of Italy there was Mattarella. Even in those cases, I imagine, a great satisfaction.

GG = Especially in the Senate I was very excited, I was 18/19 and it was something surreal, like the beginning of our career, from school desks, to travels around the world.

It was an honor for us, Napolitano, Grasso (President and Prime Minister), he was very prestigious, one of the things I will never forget.

LM = Another thing I remember, at least it struck me a lot and maybe it is something passed over in silence, when you went to do a sort of “Band Aid”, years later for Haiti, if I’m not mistaken, and you were invited by Quincy Jones himself. Quincy Jones isn’t recognized by many, but he produced Michael Jackson, he produced Thriller.

You were very young, and you had this man who, from the videos, hugged you …..

LUCA 04

GG = There are great things very appreciated abroad, of our country, and they are good food and this type of music, which has its own light and illuminates the world for decades, also brought by Pavarotti and Bocelli. Thanks to this, we have attracted the attention of the great boss of international music like Quincy Jones, because we do nothing but bring, with our voices, the name of our music, of our country.

LM = It struck me a lot, even the fact that the former Roseto basketball coach, when he was in Atlanta, called me and said, “Is that boy really from Roseto?”.  And then he came to greet you at meet & greet and he wrote me, “This is the music that everyone loves in the world.” and he is a Croatian.

LUCA 05

(Atlanta 2016, Gianluca , Piero Ignazio and Neven Spahija, the Roseto coach)

The beautiful thing about Il Volo, I have always said, as a simple journalist, you are Il Volo in Japan, Il Volo in America …… that is … Vasco Rossi (a very famous pop singer in Italy) it is Vasco Rossi in Italy, but in France (France taken as an example of a neighboring country), no offense, he is nobody ….. you are Il Volo in the world, and this is an incredible thing.

When you go to South America they give the news on the national news. For you, who are always kind it seems normal, but sharing this with you, let me say to all: let’s do another round of applause !!

There is also another succulent anecdote, when you went with Bruno Vespa in New York and you met Woody Allen and you explain to him that you live in Montepagano, taking the wine route. Tell us.

GG = I sometimes think about it and it makes me laugh.

LM = Your spontaneity makes you do everything.

GG = Sicily is certainly much better known than Abruzzo, this is the reality. We were having dinner with Woody Allen and he asked us where we come from. The other two replied from Sicily and he said he had seen it several times, then I say from Abruzzo, he did not know where it was, then I add, near Rome, and then I say, “Do you know Montepulciano d’Abruzzo wine?” and he said, “Yes, great wine, I like it very much”. You understand, I had to go around through the wine to explain where Abruzzo is, because unfortunately he didn’t know it, but through the wine he understood.

LUCA 06

LM = Yes, for many foreign people, Abruzzo is close to Rome, even if in fact it is not that close for us, indeed it is far from Rome, but to explain it is easier this way.

GG = In addition, the places of the Abruzzo mountains are more famous than those of the sea. But we have beautiful beaches here and there are people like you (Abba Immobiliare) who are investing in the territory of Roseto degli Abruzzi, which is a jewel and has nothing to envy from other beaches.

LM= Last thing I want to tell you, something that happened to me and your dad, Ercole. One day I was here at the Liberty having a coffee and I see four women who speak English. They were four of Gianluca admirers from Connecticut, Texas, Florida, and I would say Louisiana or Georgia, who had come here, had hired a driver, an interpreter, and wanted to see the places where Gianluca had grown up. If I hadn’t witnessed this, I wouldn’t have believed it. They asked me, “Do you really know Gianluca?” And I called Ercole and told him that I had seen women who were almost crying for Gianluca.

LUCA 07

GG = Do you realize?

LM = The Texan woman, (Deborah, they are talking about you!) showed me the photo of the car with the personalized IL VOLO license plate, because there, paying for it is possible (in Italy it is not possible) and told me, “I am cured of depression, after the death of my husband, listening to the music of Il Volo” and hugged you and never left you. They came from America to see your house, then, luckily you were there, but for them, it was enough to see Gianluca’s house in Montepagano. What do you think of this?

LUCA 08

GG = Sometimes I can hardly believe it, how life can radically change, however  I was a child who dreamed of singing, but I never imagined that my life could change like this and get to the other side of the world and excite and also to heal people ….. the power of music, and it’s something that still excites me.

LM = In 2009, Massimo Ranieri (famous Italian singer) comes here to sing and the mayor tells me, I bring Gianluca to Ranieri and introduce him to him. You know him, and you tell him, “You will see that I will become a good singer.”

GG = But…… I can’t have said that.

LM = Then you also took the photo with your cell phone.

LUCA 09

GG = It was 2007 and then in 2015 we sang together on RAI1 QUANDO L’AMORE DIVENTA POESIA and he showed that old photo on TV.

LM = What effect did it have on you?

GG = This shows that over the years anything can happen, as a child I came to see a singer in concert and a few years later, I sing on TV with him.

GG = Luca, but you know that I don’t like to talk only about me.

LM = But you are the star. In 2007, the first memory I have of you, at the age of 12, you go to sing twp songs for a poetry award at the Pia Marta oratory school and you sing IL MARE CALMO DELLA SERA, a very difficult piece.

GG = I remember, I was a little anomalous, a 12 year old boy singing Bocelli, my friends listened to something else. I also listened to other groups, but also classical music, so the children of my age saw me as a “different” child.

LM = And I remember, that this 12 year old is doing this very difficult song and in the end we all stood up.

GG = Then I still had the young voice, so it was easier to get to the high notes.

LM = It was an exceptional ride and it is still at the beginning because you are very young.

GG = I hope so, I’ve always enjoyed living with music.

LM = Last thing, you were international stars, but you missed Italy, first time in Sanremo and immediately victory, what effect did it have on you?

(Sanremo first night, how much emotion !!!)

GG = In fact we were more known and appreciated in other countries than at home, it was a sort of revenge, to show that we had a great desire to do and to be recognized in our country after years abroad, and for us to win Sanremo it was the most important thing, it gave us the real fame in Italy, that of being recognized on the street. But I must say that I am really happy and I hope to continue flying with my colleagues for many more years.

LM = The hope is also that you will always remain so available, ladies and gentlemen: GIANLUCA GINOBLE.

LUCA 10

Gianluca Ginoble with Luca Maggitti.

This photo is published on Luca Maggitti’s Facebook page with this dedication:

If I can express a wish to friends, for 2019, it is to have the humility of Gianluca: an international star who – since I have known him … and I have known him since he was 12 years old and he was nobody – has never been haughty.

On the other hand, I know people who are haughty and don’t even have a shred of talent.

Bravo, Gianlù!

Luca Maggitti

(In the lower right corner of the photo is Gianluca’s first public performance, on May 25, 2007 at the Oratorio Piamarta.)

LUCA 11

Did you like this interview?

Really a nice chat between friends who respect each other.

And you, Gianluca, always kind and helpful, we really like this aspect of your character. 😘

GOODBYE FOR NOW by SUSAN

We have come to the end of our journey. Over the last three and a half months I have been sharing with you An Extraordinary Adventure as Seen through My Eyes. I hope you enjoyed the stories as much as I enjoyed sharing them with you.

I took the original book which consisted of mostly dialogues and short stories between the boys and changed it to a narrative so you could truly appreciate their stories.

And what extraordinary stories they were. I acted as the narrator and lead you from one story to another always allowing the boys to tell the story in their own words. After a while, the boys took over and carried me along on their journey. A very exciting adventure!

What did I find out about the boys in this book? I found out that Piero is an excellent storyteller. When he tells you a story, he includes every little detail so when the story is over you know everything there is to know about that story. I found out that Ignazio is an excellent writer. He is the only one who wrote his story. Ignazio is very articulate. His words just flow off the page. Because of this, his story was the easiest to edit. As to Gianluca I was surprised to find out he was such a romantic. Everything that is important to him is a passion. He invests himself in what he loves and believes in: Family, Music, Country and Soccer!

Goodbye 01

I have read the book about 10 times over the last three months. Going back and forth from Italian to English to be sure that the facts were correct. I have edited other books but this one was truly an adventure. Maybe because the characters meant something to me.

Before I go any further there are some people who I would like to thank for giving me the opportunity to share this story. First and foremost, Piero, Ignazio and Gianluca. They were aware that I was telling their story yet, never once did they ask me to stop telling it. It’s their story and they could have stopped me at any time. Next, I would like to thank Michele Torpedine for also giving me a free hand to share it!

As to the book Il Volo Un’avventura Straordinaria, La nostra storia, (An Extraordinary Adventure, our story) let me say it is a wonderful book and anyone who can read Italian should read it.

Many people have asked me why I don’t translate the book. It’s not my book to translate. All I can say is I would love to translate and edit the book for the English version.

Goodbye 02

Before I hand you over for the last time, let me leave you with this thought. This story truly was an extraordinary story about three young boys, child prodigies, who travelled the same path but started in different places: Naro, Bologna and Montepagano. I often think and I have just recently said in one of the stories, how is it possible that three amazing boys, with three extraordinary voices, that complement one another, wound up in the same place, at the same time, in history. My only answer is divine intervention. God had a plan and what a plan it was! He gave us three voices that would stay with us for a long time and certainly for me till the end of my days.

So, before we bid the boys farewell, I’ll let them tell their final story which is about the one disappointment they had. Or as Ignazio put it, “Eurovision… one of those things that I do not like to talk about, but we’re telling the truth, so let’s tell it all.” So, for the last time let’s join Piero as he tells us about what happened at Eurovision….

Goodbye 03

Piero: Vienna, the 60th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest, was a rather strange experience because we came as favorites. So, we were loaded, convinced! From February 14th to May 17th , the day we arrived in Vienna, we sang “Grande Amore” so many times that we convinced ourselves even more that we would make it. I mean, Gianluca and I, convinced ourselves while Ignazio was pessimistic as usual. However, Gian, your presentiment this time is really wrong.

Gianluca: But do you know what happened to Eurovision? Unlike Sanremo, the vote of the public was not as important as the Festival: fifty percent vote from home and fifty percent vote of the jury of journalists. And this put us at a disadvantage. But the public had voted for us, we arrived first for the people at home.

I cried when it was over. Why did I cry? I knew we had lost not because people did not love us, but for other reasons. Mom, I cried….

Ignazio: Do we really have to talk about it? I’m not so happy to talk about Eurovision because I do not have a great memory.

Piero: What a blow that night …

Gianluca: I started crying, then I looked at Piero, he too cried …

Piero: Gianluca in the end had convinced me to say: “We win, we win.” We had taken it in Sanremo, it could be that we would take it in Vienna, right?

Gianluca: Look, I guessed, because we won the televoting, I repeat it.

Ignazio: And I always am the pessimistic one, with my feet on the ground, saying, “No, guys, it’s hard. It does not say that we succeed.” Even though I had believed it myself a bit.

But it happened that we got third, behind the Russian Polina Gagarina, second with A Million Voices, and the Swedish Mans Zelmerlow who won with Heroes.

Goodbye 04

Gianluca took it very badly, he cried. Piero as well. Everyone took it very bad. What could I say?: “Come on, guys, we got third, not everyone does that, the last one was Modugno.”

Piero: In the end, however, Gianluca and I looked at each other, a look as if to say: “Now what do we do?”, and a moment before we cried and the next moment we laughed. We had lost, what could we do? By now, it had happened.

Gianluca: We could not cry forever. And then, the public’s heart was ours.

Ignazio: Instead, the undersigned, after having done a little shoulder to others, the next morning I felt very bad, but very bad. For two or three days I was very bad, I threw it all out, later.

Piero: In life you cannot always win, that’s what we learned.

Where’s the beauty? Not all women can say yes to you. After that, how do you try to seduce one, if you already know that she will tell you yes?

So, when we came back from Vienna, many people in Italy asked: “Are you sad about the third place?”

Absolutely not, indeed we are very satisfied, but maybe even too satisfied, because our goal of Eurovision was to show us to two hundred and twenty million people. Even in Australia they saw us. But think how many are two hundred and twenty million people? A sea, is, a sea!

Goodbye 05

And can I tell you something? I have never loved the tricolor flag so much in my life.

Knowing we were there at the Wiener Stadthalle with the roar of sixteen thousand people to hear us sing live and another two hundred million to see us at home, to know that we at that moment represented Italy for all of Europe is a great responsibility, however it is also a great stimulus to do it in the best possible way.

We represent it around the world with singing, with belcanto, and we believe we have done it better in Vienna. We put it all, we worked hard, we really gave our heart for this occasion.

It was a completely different experience from the others because it was not a competition between artists, it was a competition between Countries, it was a competition between origins, and we were there to defend our nation.

It was really very strong!

It would be nice to come back there, but first we should win another Sanremo Festival!

Goodbye 06

Goodbye for Now

In which the true and only secret of the success of our three lives is told.

When they asked us to write this book, our first thought was, “Finally,” finally we can tell the truth.” In a three-minute interview you cannot tell a life, but in a book yes.  And that’s what we tried to do in these pages: tell our true story.

Which is a normal story, of three guys like many who had a great passion and were lucky enough to be able to transform that passion into what today makes them live and makes them famous.

Being successful is beautiful, it would be stupid to say no after we have so dreamed and desired, but you need to quickly understand something, and that is, that it is not only our merit.

The people who follow us have a large part of that merit.

And knowing it is what gratifies us the most.

It is wonderful to know that we have shared our emotions with those who listen to us.

That’s why we work, and that’s why we try to give everything when we sing, we live in a concert or recording studio. And that’s why we do our work always with the maximum of passion, so that we can create what for us is magic, the magic of emotion that passes from our voices to people.

Fans are the reason, the only real explanation of what happened to us from 2009 till today, the records, the tours around the world, the victory at Sanremo, what we are finally living in Italy.

During a concert we would like to embrace all the people before us, one by one, we would like to be able to say: “Thank you!” with our voices to all. And we want to thank them if we are in the studio to record, if we fill the halls in concerts, if we are in the charts, if we go around the world.

Our “fans” are everything!

We do not know what we will decide to do after the new album and the winter tour. We do not know if we will return to Sanremo, if we will take a vacation, if we will immediately start thinking about another album, new songs to fill your emotions and our emotions.

But for sure, for all we have done so far, let’s say thanks to those who have followed us. And we will continue our great adventure together! Goodbye for now!

PIERO, IGNAZIO and GIANLUCA

FROM MONTECARLO TO SICILY by Daniela

Despite the period and the dangers of new lockdowns, in Monte Carlo, at the Opera, there was a concert of Il Volo.

The announcement had already been made for some time.

Here are Piero, Ignazio and Gianluca, reunited, as they fly to Monte Carlo.

We thank Gianluca for his videos!

Good guys, you are all wearing a mask, but it’s better to protect your eyes too, like Gianluca does!

MC 01

And here they are in Monte Carlo.MC 02

The concert is sold out (according to the Covid19 rules), as this nice article by Monaco Tribune writes, and which I translate for you.

MC 03

IL VOLO IN CONCERT IN MONTE CARLO ON AUGUST 14th

All seats are now sold out for the concert at the Opéra Garnier in Monte-Carlo in honor of the ten-year career of the trio that has become the pride of Italian music

After postponing the Italian stages, Il Volo returns to perform in the Principality for an evening of Monegasque elegance. Tickets sold at 283 euros each are now all sold out. The Monte Carlo Opera House, which is located in the casino complex, was designed by Charles Garnier, the famous architect of the Opéra Garnier in Paris, and seats 524 people.

The Best of 10 Years!

The tour is entitled “Il Volo – The best of 10 years”. Indeed, in 2019 the group celebrated ten years of career. Piero Barone, Ignazio Boschetto and Gianluca Ginoble met in 2009 during the TV talent show “Ti lascio una canzone”. They will become a trio, nicknamed “the tenorini”, even if, while Boschetto and Barone are tenors, Ginoble is baritone.

It was in 2015 that they confirmed themselves as ambassadors of the Italian musical tradition when, after winning the Sanremo festival with the song “Grande Amore”, the same singing event that revealed, among others, Eros Ramazzotti and Laura Pausini.

To celebrate their ten-year career, the group released the album “The best of 10 years” in 2019, with which it is preparing to kick off the new world tour, which started in Japan, touched Europe, North and Latin America and will not fail to stop in Monte Carlo for a memorable evening!

MC 04

MC 05

There are rehearsals for the concert and our guys, like good professionals, are always there to optimize their performance.

As you can see from the next short video, the theater is really very small, a small chest, a treasure.

But here we are at the time of the concert.

Unfortunately,there are very few and incomplete videos, but even if we can see and hear very little, what we can get makes us understand that the boys are in excellent vocal and physical form!!

NESSUN DORMA – IL MONDO

MY WAY

IL MONDO – UN AMORE COSÌ GRANDE

Between one song and another, Piero Ignazio and Gianluca entertain the audience with some chat, but very nice things have also been said that I am now translating to you. Sorry I didn’t attach the video, but they can’t be viewed in the US.

Ignazio = We have always said that for us, singing for 10 thousand people or for 300 people is the same thing.

And today, now that we are OBLIGED to have smaller capacities (due to Covid19), we can really live what we said.

Piero = Because there is no such gap between audience and stage …

Ignazio = … it’s like we were in the family, (addresses the audience) and sometimes, you know, singing in front of a few people is more difficult than singing in front of a lot of people, the emotion is different.

Gianluca = Let’s say that, wearing masks, we don’t see your expressions, but we see your eyes, and we hope to fill you with joy. (applause)

GRANDE AMORE

Here they are arrived at Palermo airport, the voice on the loudspeaker recommends maintaining the interpersonal distance of at least 1 meter and wearing a mask ………. good guys, observe the rules!!

But why did all three boys return to Sicily?

What other news is there?

We see from the photos published Gian and Piero in Selinunte, places full of history, will it be only for vacation???

But then, we find Piero Ignazio and Gianluca in Polizzi Generosa, a Sicilian town, where the designer Domenico Dolce (D&G) was born.

Why are they in Polizzi Generosa?

On 13 August was Domenico Dolce’s birthday and today, 16 August in Polizzi Generosa, is a Sunday of celebration, there are stalls and tonight, the film by D&G Devotion will be screened in the square and at the end there will be the fireworks.

Our boys will easily be present at the film screening.
It will be a good party, too bad not to be there!!

Here are some moments of the typical party in the streets of the small town.
How many people, there is no social distancing, beware guys!!

Well done,  you guys stay on Domenico Dolce’s balcony, away from the crowd.

What a great celebration, and the boys are so happy.

The fireworks at the end of the documentary film.

Your voices in Monte Carlo were perfect, and seeing you so happy in Sicily fills our hearts.

But we, who feel like yours, mothers, grandmothers, sisters, recommend you: “Stay safe.”

It is true that in Sicily the infections have been very limited, but why risk it? The Italian government, seeing the trend of the last days of the people in Italy, has again imposed, from August 17, the closure of discos and the obligation of the mask, even on the street from 06:00 pm until 06:00 am.

This beautiful painting given to Domenico Dolce during his birthday party is made by Fabio Ingrassia.

Here’s what Fabio wrote on his fanpage:

“I made my first trousers when I was 6 with the help of tailors in my father’s tailor shop.”

This sentence was my starting point when they commissioned me a painting for Domenico Dolce.

I had to somehow represent a concept, stop for a moment, right where the magic was born, a child prodigy who for the first time discovered his world … those little hands sewed a dream that would soon become a fantastic reality!

Baroque and revolutionary like Caravaggio, traditionalist and elegant like Black and White. ❤️

THE CREATION oil on canvas 70×100

Thanks IL VOLO!

Wonderful work: Congratulations to Fabio Ingrassia! ❤️

E VUI DURMITI ANCORA by Daniela

During the beautiful presentation event of the D&G feature in Taormina, Il Volo sang a beautiful Sicilian song – “E VUI DURMITI ANCORA”.

It is a beautiful Sicilian poem written by Giovanni Formisano in 1910.The beauty of the text greatly affected Gaetano Emanuel Calì, to the point that in the duration of the trip from Malta, (one night), he composed the score to go with it.

Thanks to my friend Katerina Tsaousi, who published the text and the video, I thought of repeating these beautiful words, in the original text and below with the translation made by the Sicilian friend Rita Spera.

Thanks to both !!😘😘

E VUI DURMITI ANCORA

Gian= Lu suli è già spuntatu di lu mari
E vui, bidduzza mia, durmiti ancora,
L’aceddi sunnu stanchi di cantari
E affriddateddi aspettanu ccà fora;
Ignazio= Supra ‘ssu barcuneddu su pusati
E aspettanu quann’è ca v’affacciati.

Piero= Lassati stari, non durmiti cchiui,
Ca ‘nzemi a iddi, dintra sta vanedda,
Ci sugnu puru iù, c’aspettu a vui,
Ppi viriri ‘ssa facci accussì bedda;
G+I+P= Passu cca fora tutti li nuttati
E aspettu suru quannu v’affacciati.
(The part sung by Il Volo ends here, but the song continues.)

Li ciuri senza vui non vonnu stari,
Su tutti ccu li testi a pinnuluni,
Ognun d’iddi non voli sbucciari,
Si prima non si rapì ssu barcuni.
Intra li buttuneddi su ammucchiati
E aspettanu quann’è ca v’affacciati.
Lassati stari, non durmiti cchiui,
Ca ‘nzemi a iddi, dintra sta vanedda,
Ci sugnu puru iù, c’aspettu a vui,
Ppi viriri ‘ssa facci accussì bedda;
Passu cca fora tutti li nuttati
E aspettu suru quannu v’affacciati.

E VUI 01

Translation:

AND YOU SLEEP, AGAIN

The sun has already risen above the sea
And you my beautiful,
You sleep, again
Birds are tired of singing
And full of cold, they wait out here
Above the small balcony, they are supported
And they wait when it is
That you, you lean out of the balcony.

You stop,
Don’t sleep anymore
because in their midst
Inside this little street
I’m here too,
I’m waiting for you
To see your face so beautiful.
I spend all the nights out here
To see when you look out on the balcony.
(The part sung by Il Volo ends here, but the song continues.)

Flowers without you don’t want to be
They are all with dangling heads
Each of them does not want to blossom
If this balcony doesn’t open first
Inside the buds are wrapped
And they wait when you look out onto the balcony.

You stop,
Don’t sleep anymore
because in their midst
Inside this little street
I’m here too,
I’m waiting for you
To see your face so beautiful.
I spend all the nights out here
To see when you look out on the balcony.

❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

And now, as our eyes are never tired of beauty, let’s still enjoy our beautiful boys, elegant in D&G tuxedos. ❤️❤️❤️

E VUI 18

Il Volo with Domenico Dolce, Stefano Gabbana and Musumeci (governor of Sicily).

The words of this Sicilian song are really beautiful.
This song was often used by young Sicilian males to serenade their girlfriends, who listened to them from the window or from the balcony … how romantic.

Poor Gianluca who had to sing in a really difficult dialect.

But Il Volo has made a really good interpretation ….. of course they can, they are Il Volo !!

Thanks again to Rita for the translation from Sicilian to Italian! 😘
