FROM MONTECARLO TO SICILY by Daniela

Despite the period and the dangers of new lockdowns, in Monte Carlo, at the Opera, there was a concert of Il Volo.

The announcement had already been made for some time.

Here are Piero, Ignazio and Gianluca, reunited, as they fly to Monte Carlo.

We thank Gianluca for his videos!

Good guys, you are all wearing a mask, but it’s better to protect your eyes too, like Gianluca does!

MC 01

And here they are in Monte Carlo.MC 02

The concert is sold out (according to the Covid19 rules), as this nice article by Monaco Tribune writes, and which I translate for you.

IL VOLO IN CONCERT IN MONTE CARLO ON AUGUST 14th

All seats are now sold out for the concert at the Opéra Garnier in Monte-Carlo in honor of the ten-year career of the trio that has become the pride of Italian music

After postponing the Italian stages, Il Volo returns to perform in the Principality for an evening of Monegasque elegance. Tickets sold at 283 euros each are now all sold out. The Monte Carlo Opera House, which is located in the casino complex, was designed by Charles Garnier, the famous architect of the Opéra Garnier in Paris, and seats 524 people.

The Best of 10 Years!

The tour is entitled “Il Volo – The best of 10 years”. Indeed, in 2019 the group celebrated ten years of career. Piero Barone, Ignazio Boschetto and Gianluca Ginoble met in 2009 during the TV talent show “Ti lascio una canzone”. They will become a trio, nicknamed “the tenorini”, even if, while Boschetto and Barone are tenors, Ginoble is baritone.

It was in 2015 that they confirmed themselves as ambassadors of the Italian musical tradition when, after winning the Sanremo festival with the song “Grande Amore”, the same singing event that revealed, among others, Eros Ramazzotti and Laura Pausini.

To celebrate their ten-year career, the group released the album “The best of 10 years” in 2019, with which it is preparing to kick off the new world tour, which started in Japan, touched Europe, North and Latin America and will not fail to stop in Monte Carlo for a memorable evening!

There are rehearsals for the concert and our guys, like good professionals, are always there to optimize their performance.

As you can see from the next short video, the theater is really very small, a small chest, a treasure.

But here we are at the time of the concert.

Unfortunately, there are very few and incomplete videos, but even if we can see and hear very little, what we can get makes us understand that the boys are in excellent vocal and physical form!!

NESSUN DORMA – IL MONDO

MY WAY

IL MONDO – UN AMORE COSÌ GRANDE

Between one song and another, Piero Ignazio and Gianluca entertain the audience with some chat, but very nice things have also been said that I am now translating to you. Sorry I didn’t attach the video, but they can’t be viewed in the US.

Ignazio = We have always said that for us, singing for 10 thousand people or for 300 people is the same thing.

And today, now that we are OBLIGED to have smaller capacities (due to Covid19), we can really live what we said.

Piero = Because there is no such gap between audience and stage …

Ignazio = … it’s like we were in the family, (addresses the audience) and sometimes, you know, singing in front of a few people is more difficult than singing in front of a lot of people, the emotion is different.

Gianluca = Let’s say that, wearing masks, we don’t see your expressions, but we see your eyes, and we hope to fill you with joy. (applause)

GRANDE AMORE

MC 06

Here they are arrived at Palermo airport, the voice on the loudspeaker recommends maintaining the interpersonal distance of at least 1 meter and wearing a mask ………. good guys, observe the rules!!

But why did all three boys return to Sicily?

What other news is there?

We see from the photos published Gian and Piero in Selinunte, places full of history, will it be only for vacation???

MC 07

MC 08

But then, we find Piero Ignazio and Gianluca in Polizzi Generosa, a Sicilian town, where the designer Domenico Dolce (D&G) was born.

Why are they in Polizzi Generosa?

Sicily 03

On 13 August was Domenico Dolce’s birthday and today, 16 August in Polizzi Generosa, is a Sunday of celebration, there are stalls and tonight, the film by D&G Devotion will be screened in the square and at the end there will be the fireworks.

Our boys will easily be present at the film screening.
It will be a good party, too bad not to be there!!

Here are some moments of the typical party in the streets of the small town.
How many people, there is no social distancing, beware guys!!

Well done,  you guys stay on Domenico Dolce’s balcony, away from the crowd.

What a great celebration, and the boys are so happy.

The fireworks at the end of the documentary film.

Your voices in Monte Carlo were perfect, and seeing you so happy in Sicily fills our hearts.

But we, who feel like yours, mothers, grandmothers, sisters, recommend you: “Stay safe.”

Daniela

It is true that in Sicily the infections have been very limited, but why risk it? The Italian government, seeing the trend of the last days of the people in Italy, has again imposed, from August 17, the closure of discos and the obligation of the mask, even on the street from 06:00 pm until 06:00 am.

This beautiful painting given to Domenico Dolce during his birthday party is made by Fabio Ingrassia.

Here’s what Fabio wrote on his fanpage:

“I made my first trousers when I was 6 with the help of tailors in my father’s tailor shop.”

This sentence was my starting point when they commissioned me a painting for Domenico Dolce.

I had to somehow represent a concept, stop for a moment, right where the magic was born, a child prodigy who for the first time discovered his world … those little hands sewed a dream that would soon become a fantastic reality!

Baroque and revolutionary like Caravaggio, traditionalist and elegant like Black and White. ❤️

Wonderful work: Congratulations to Fabio Ingrassia! ❤️

A GOOD FRIEND by Daniela

Who am I talking about?

But Fabio Ingrassia, one of the dear friends of Il Volo.

Fabio was born and lives in Marsala and became a friend of Ignazio, but soon he also knows Piero and Gianluca and becomes their friend. Many of you know who I’m talking about, but maybe not everyone knows about him.

Fabio is also an artist, but another genre of art, Fabio is a contemporary artist, always looking for new artistic expressions. Fabio and Il Volo’s road intertwines several times, not only from the point of view of friendship, but also from the artistic point of view.

Friend 01

On March 5, 2016, in Miami, there was a concert by Il Volo and Fabio Ingrassia, during the song “SMILE”, makes a beautiful performance, painting, on the stage, a picture which appears as a subject of modern art, but at the end materializes as a beautiful portrait executed upside down, of the faces of Piero, Ignazio and Gianluca.

Too bad that the video of the evening does not do justice to the event.

Here’s what the finished picture looks like.

(Please click on each image below for a larger version.)

Of course Fabio has made many beautiful portraits of our boys over time !!

Fabio, aka FaoDesign, completed his studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Palermo.

(Please click on each image below for a larger version.)

Our friends Deborah, Jeannette and Judy (pictured with Maria, Fabio’s partner) have also been at Fabio’s house and have appreciated his works.

Friend 17

Here is Judy, with a copy of Fabio’s painting.

How wonderful these paintings !!

In September 2019, there was the Il Volo concert, at the Arena di Verona, I was present, a magnificent concert.

During the evening Fabio also showed his art, while Il Volo performed “SMILE”, but this time, the portrait performed by Fabio was a splendid tribute to Chaplin.

The soft voices of the boys filled the air and delighted our hearing, but our gaze was captivated by what was taking shape on the canvas, a fantastic atmosphere, beautifully managed by four great artists.

This time the video perfectly captures every moment. I assure you that it was a very exciting moment and until the end you did not have the perception of the finished picture. Very beautiful!!

One of the latest works done by Fabio for our boys, concerns a single portrait, made for Piero’s birthday.

But how beautiful is this portrait of Piero?

Fabio completely captured Piero’s beautiful smile.

Looking at this portrait, one has the feeling that the image speaks ………… rather that he sings !!

Wonderful, associated with Piero’s beautiful voice, it makes the image of the painting even more real.

Some time ago, on the blog, “HARDCORE ITALIANS,” a nice article about Fabio Ingrassia was published, here he is.

In private life, Fabio lives happily with Maria, and this year they were planning their wedding.

Unfortunately Covid19 has blown the plans of many couples, and so it was also for Fabio and Maria, who have postponed their event to next year.

But there is a beautiful event, which will not be postponed, Fabio himself made the announcement a few days ago, a nice baby is coming.

What wonderful news! Best Wishes, to the whole family!!

Friend 25

Fabio, I loved your works from the first moment I saw them.

You know how to bring your portraits to life, and this is not possible for everyone.

You can also be a very good friend, because I remember that, at the moment of Ignazio’s fall in Tampa, you were close to him, as only a true friend can be.

The news of the baby arriving only adds positivity to your life.

All the Flight Crew, wishes you, Maria and the baby every positive thing, a lot of success in your life as an artist, and that your friendship with Ignazio, Piero and Gianluca will always last over time.

Fabio Ingrassia

This fellow has been in the news a lot lately.  Could it be partly because of another reason Italians are so uniquely wonderful?  Have you noticed how they give fellow Italians a “leg-up” on their career through viewer exposure?   It was done for our Guys and they have paid back the favor many times now.  We can do no less.

Remember me telling you about the Ft. Myers concert and the artist, Fabio who did their drawing (upside down!) on stage as IL Volo sang?

During the concert, The boys signed the artwork and presented it to a beautiful young girl in a wheelchair who was sitting just to the left of me.   When I got up to leave I stopped and congratulated her on her prize.  She looked at me said, “thank you” and just beamed.

Our friends and affiliate at Music Notes Global wrote this article on the amazing artist and good friend of our Guys:

Artist Fabio Ingrassia Brings Music to Life on Canvas

MNGBlog is expanding its culture section and there’s no better way to celebrate than with this special feature on an incredibly talented Italian artist inspired by music.

Fabio Ingrassia, who also goes by the stage name FAODesign, is a native of Marsala, Sicily, with a love of art that goes back longer than even he remembers. According to his parents, though, his art career began at the early age of four. While he now most often works in oils on canvas, his medium of choice, he also creates in graphite and airbrush.

“I think that art is a way of communicating. Whether it’s music, song, poetry, painting, the important thing is that what you want to say reaches the viewer creating an emotion. If there isn’t this communication, it’s not art but decoration.”

— Fabio Ingrassia

Not only is Fabio a Guinness World Record holder (in 2012, he and 373 of his colleagues achieved the feat of creating the longest painting in the world), but he is also a musician, playing piano, guitar, and violin. Therefore, it is not surprising that he finds his inspiration in the place where the worlds of music and art collide. “Music has a very important role in my artistic being,” he explained. “…I try to unite the art of music with that of painting in a single message.”

During the course of his career, he has had the opportunity to work on a variety of music-related projects. From scenery to album covers, he’s done it all. A few examples include a cover for the single “Superdisco” by DJ Tumba, a cover for “Our Anthem” remix with Nikka Costa, and an album cover for Romano Anonimo’s Five.

As one might imagine, Fabio listens to music while he creates his one-of-a-kind masterpieces. He has a varied scope of favorites that ranges from Guns N’ Roses and Bon Jovi to Stevie Wonder and more; and, when asked to name a few songs on his iPod right now–among them Wonder’s beloved classic “Ribbon In the Sky”–it turned out we had one in common: “Grande amore” by Il Volo.

MNGBlog loves Il Volo and it is crystal clear that Ingrassia, like so many others, finds incredible inspiration in them and their music. In fact, you might have seen the video in which he painted the 2015 Sanremo-winning Italian trio, which proves that music has the magical ability to manifest in an array of mediums, especially through the hands of an artist who is so deeply connected to its powers. He told MNGBlog: “In my videos where I paint upside down with Il Volo’s song, I tell the story of a great love. Then turning the canvas, Ignazio, Piero, and Gianluca are illustrated, and I end the video saying ‘Painting music can be done.'”

Il Volo invited Ingrassia to perform live at their concert on March 5 at Bank United Center in Miami, where painted an inverted portrait of the trio in front of an audience of almost 8,000 people. When recounting the experience, he stated: “Initially I was a little tense because I had to finish the upside down painting by the end of the song ‘Life Is Beautiful (La vita è bella).’ I turned the finished painting around and the audience exploded in a great and long applause. I think it was one of the greatest emotions of my life. Miami will always be in my heart.”

Fabio’s trip to Miami was an important step in his career, allowing him to meet many new artists. It was also there, he said, that “I realized that art speaks different languages but that they are all united in a unique message: that of emotion.”

And speaking of that upside down painting technique, or “dipingere a testa in giù,” it is now becoming a trademark of sorts for him that is mesmerizing thousands of spectators. Surprisingly, he began painting upside down “by chance” during an art event in Petrosino. On stage alongside his friend DJ, in front of about 1,000 people, he revealed: “…we created a union of music and art. In front of a black canvas, with my back to the audience, I wanted to create a landscape, so with two hands I began to paint. During the performance, I noticed that I was creating a face upside down, so, continuing, I finished and rotated Marilyn Monroe. The audience appreciated my performance so much and since then I began to do it at many events all over Sicily and beyond.”

In all this discussion of music arose the curiosity as to which of history’s greatest artists and painters impact Ingrassia’s artistic vision. He graciously provided some insight:

MNGBlog: Who are your favorite artists/painters?

FI: It’s difficult to say precisely who my favorite artist is. Each has his own style and story…from Caravaggio to Dalì, Michelangelo, Da Vinci, Picasso, Guttoso, Lucian Freud…to more/most recent artists like Corella, painting is like a book–you can’t begin to read it from the end.

MNGBlog: Name three artists you would want to have dinner with.

FI: I would definitely go to dinner with Corella, a Spanish hyperrealist; with Picasso to better discover his cubist world; and with Dalì to understand his genius.

Fabio sells his works all over the world. From the United States to Japan to his native Italy and everywhere in between, he communicates his passionate, music-inspired message with all who listen.

“Art is the desire to live, to communicate, to discover, to admire…Art passes over the shadows…in black and white, among the colors.”
